(( I'm assuming Goldeen dodged Vine Whip...))

His attack having missed, Bulbasaur was barely able to escape the powerful attack from Goldeen. Izzy began internally beating himself up. "I completely forgot about Peck... Bulbasaur, return." Recalling Bulbasaur, he looked down at Elekid. "Are you up for this?" Elekid gave Izzy a look saying, "Duh." Running forward, Elekid flexed, trying to taunt Goldeen and draw attention away from Izzy and Duskull. "Alright, Elekid. You just leveled up, so let's try your new move, Shock Wave!" Elekid windmilled his arms, charging up the power for his electrical attack. Being completely healed, Elekid's charge built up quickly, and he released his attack quickly, the electricity arcing towards Goldeen.

(Well, yes. It jumped...)

The strong blast of electricity nipped Goldeen. Hard. Reeling back from the power of it, Goldeen fell into the water. Swifter there,it pooped it's head out, then jumped weakly, landing on mud. Then, quite unexpectedly,it started tossing mud around. Mud Sport (EM). That way, the Electric attacks would hurt less. Using another Egg Move, it shot the mud in a single line at Elekid. Goldeen used Mud Shot.

Izzy grimaced. That Mud Sport was going to suck. "Elekid, try to deflect it with Brick Break!" The majority of the attack was knocked away, but there was enough force to slow Elekid down a little. "Alright, you got this! String Quick Attack into Thunderpunch, just like earlier against Onix!" Elekid charged his fist up, then dashed forward, attempting to drive it into Goldeen.

Goldeen dove in again, only stopping long enough for the Quick Attack to contact, but not long enough for the fist to land upon it. Diving it, it swam in the water and let out a couple of high pitched cries and then jumped out with another Mud Shot.

"Deflect it with Brick Break, again!" Izzy knew they'd have to stick with Shock Wave, unless they could paralyze it, which would be muchh harder with that Mud Sport. Elekid was again able to deflect most of the attack, but this time, the attack knocked him back a foot or two. "Alright, use Shock Wave!" Elekid windmilled his arms, then let loose another burst of electricity.

The Mud absorbed 66% (That's the percent of what Mud Sport absorbs of Electric moves) of the attack but the super effective move still let Goldeen feel it. Shaking off the slight damage, it let loose aother Mud Shot, opting for the only move that would hurt Elekid well.

Izzy knew Elekid couldn't take another Mud Shot and still fight effectively. "Alright, Elekid, try using Brick Break on the stone below you, knocking some of it up to deflect the attack!" Elekid nodded, and lifted his fist in the air, striking just in front of his feet. A few chunks of stone were pushed up, which absorbed the force of the attack. The mud, however, splashed all over Elekid, temporarily removing both his Ability and his ability to use Electric attacks. Izzy grimaced; the earlier attacks had weakened Elekid's offensive enough as is, but now they only had Quick Attack and Brick Break, unless they could get the mud off - Duh. Izzy wished he'd have thought of this earlier, but it might backfire, so... "Elekid, let's let Duskull get some practice! Come back for now!" Releasing Duskull, Izzy wrinkled his nose. "Alright, all you have to do is dodge a couple attacks and hit with one of your own. Easy peasy. Start off with Night Shade!" Duskull bobbed in understanding, and the room darkened slightly, giving Duskull an eerie appearance. His red (orb? Eye? What is that even called?) began to glow brilliantly, as it tried to use its powers to inflict some damage to Goldeen.

(Um...*goes crazy for a minute and surfs Bulbapedia like mad* Eye. It's called an eye. And they are eyes. Two of them though, not one.)

The Night Shade hit, not doing much damage due to the level difference. Goldeen splashed in the water then jumped out and unleashed a Water Pulse, the attack swirling around like beautiful luminous rings. Goldeen creates a huge blue ball of energy in between its fin-frills. It then throws it to the ground, making water hit the foe and sending it back. Sometimes, the move confuses the opponent, making them have bruise-like marks around their eyes when they are.

((Really? In the anime, it looked like the red thing slid back and forth between the eye sockets of his skull-mask-face-thing. But, hey, I won't argue with Bulbapedia.))

Elekid suddenly dashed from next to Izzy, and phased right through Duskull. He'd used Quick Atack, but it looked like he was going to be done with this battle. The Water Pulse hit, and combined with the force of his Quick Attack, it send him straight to his knees. However, it blew the mud completely off, showering Duckull with it, and allowing Elekid to use Electric type moves again - that is, if he could even move. Izzy watched as Elekid struggled to stand, and remembered that day in Saffron vividly once more. That Sneasel striking him over and over, Elekid refusing to fall and concede defeat. Izzy diving forward to protect him, sustaining his own injuries in the process. Sabrina, rushing out of her gym and saving them both, or at least, saving their bodies. Both of them running away from that scene, afraid to admit that they had needed saving. He remembered all of this as Elekid planted his feet, resolute and ready for one last attack.

"Alright, Elekid. You've got this. Just follow my instructions carefully. Use Shockwave on the water. And keep windmilling, no matter what." Elekid began windmilling his arms, charging his body and preparing an electric shock. As the energy reached its peak, Elekid let loose a burst of Electrical energy. However, because he was still windmilling his arms, the electricity was sustained, and gave the appearance of a sort of electrical tether, linking Elekid to the water. Izzy knew Elekid couldn't windmill forever, or even very long, but the sustained electric shock should be enough... or at least, he hoped it was.

(Hmm. You're right. There are two sockets but only one red orb that probably acts as an eye. Look: The Journey Continued - Stronger than Stone? - Page 6 1503588-duskull_by_theironforce )

Goldeen noticed this and flopped out of the water, floundering in the mud. Using it's environment to it's advantage, it used a final Mud Shot before inching towards the water. It couldn't really stay out any longer so it decided to risk the shock. Not quite reached the water, it used another Mud Shot. With two blobs of icky mud heading for the Electric pokemon, Goldeen twirled a bit, using Flail.

Izzy gritted his teeth. It had been too much to hope the Goldeen would stay in the water... but he could utilize all of that electrical energy to his advantage. "Elekid, break the current! Keep windmilling, and use Quick Attack to dodge the Mud Shots!" Elekid nodded, and shot forward, ducking under the first blob, and sliding just to the right of the second (ironically, through the mud that had been plaguing him so far). He collided with Goldeen, taking full force from her Falil attack and collapsing to his hands and knees. Luckily, though, it seemed as though the force would be enough to send her into the charged water, hopefully ending this battle.

Goldeen let out an indignant cry as it was hurled into the water. Just as Izzy had hoped. Electrocuted thoroughly, Goldeen let out a shuddering gasp before collapsing, twitching feebly. It hung on by a thread and seeing the Elekid in front of it, it's horn suddenly glowed and it tried to jab at Elekid's gut, hoping it's Horn Attack would connect.

Izzy watched in horror as Goldeen lunged for another attack; Elekid's arm slipped on the muddy ground, dropping his hand into the electrified water and giving him a little charge. With this last little bit of energy, he swung his arm up, it just faintly glowing silver. The Horn Attack connected with Elekid's Brick Break, neutralizing both attacks, but knocking both pokemon back. Elekid landed on his rear, sliding in the mud. He doubled over and clutched at his injured arm.

(I hope that wasn't GMing... if it is, I can change it.)

(No it's fine. I was gonna let it connect anyway~)

Still shuddering, Goldeen seemed to have neither gained any strength, nor lost any. Rearing up, it shot a spout of mud at Elekid again, opting for it's last resort, Mud Shot.

(Guess this is as good of a place as any to begin.)

Elekid crumpled under the force of the Mud Shot, barely staying conscious. Izzy's fists clenched tight, his teeth gritted, and his heart plummeted. He hated seeing his old friend in so much pain, but they were so close... Elekid glanced back at Izzy, the pain evident on his face. And yet... Izzy saw a determination that he knew held strong through anything, the same fire that allowed him to save his dear Pokémon from the Sneasel all that time ago. "Alright, Elekid, this is our last shot. Shock Wave!" A small wave of power flowed from Elekid, barely enough to hurt another Pokémon in any normal situation. but they both clung onto the hope that it would be enough to finish this fight with Goldeen.

(Wb~)

Goldeen was struck and it slid back a bit, weak. Barely concious. It was a perfect opportunity to capture the pokemon, or to knock it out for experience.

(Thanks ^-^)
Izzy saw the opportunity to capture Goldeen, but he wasn't sure it was worth the trouble. This Goldeen was tough, but his Pokémon needed the experience. "Elekid, finish it off with one last Shock Wave!" On his hands and knees, Elekid grimaced and released one last wave of electric energy, probably the last he had charged up in his body. It flowed outward towards Goldeen, homing in on her for the final time.

The move hit and the Goldeen could only give a fleeting look of admiration at the Elekid before fainting and sliding into the water, what with all the slippery mud around.

Elekid gained 9 exp!
Elekid grew to level 16!
Bulbasaur gained 9 exp!
Duskull gained 9 exp!
Duskull grew to level 5!

((I hate to nitpick, but Duskull was a part of that, and the main reason Izzy got into the battle was for him to get some experience...I can make a more official training thread, if you think that would be better.))

((I love when other projects take over and my own thread gets lost. It just... I feel so silly sometimes.))

Izzy sighed with relief, happy that they had gotten through that with no serious injuries. Elekid would need some rest, though; for that matter, he might as well just train up Duskull out by the cave's entrance. He could practice with stones or something... he walked over and picked up Elekid, cradling him in his arms. "Not too bad, old friend. We've got some time before we're ready to take on Misty, however. I'm gonna train up Duskull, can you handle relaxing in your pokeball until we finish?" Elekid pawed at Izzy's face, clearly telling him to shut up. Rolling out of his arms, Elekid slipped in the mud when he hit the ground, but quickly righted himself and walked towards the entrance of the cave. Izzy shook his head, smiling, and motioned for Duskull to follow him.

((Training thread, away~))
