The Journey Continued - Stronger than Stone?

(...? I'm not tossing a coin.)

Brock looked on, as Geodude held on valiantly. The vines pulled hard at each arm. "Pull!" Brock's command shot out. Geodude trembled a bit as he flexed his muscles and started drawing his fists closer.

((I'm not surprised. Not the most common way to deal with this kind of issue, and I have horrible luck. :P ))

Izzy clenched his fists. "Come on, Bulbasaur! I know you can do it! This is where we see what you really are: that timid, cowardly Pokemon who hid behind his parents, or the strong, determined Bulbasaur that fought to leave them, to become strong and independent! This is the first step. Take it, my new friend, and show us all who you really are!" Izzy wasn't sure where the words came from, but he was certainly glad he had used them. Bulbasaur's face set as he pulled on the vines with newfound strength. "Bulbaaaa... Saur!"

Geodude flinched as his arms stretched far too much. He looked below, seeing Bulbasaur not too far, he let go and rocketd towards Bulbasaur with a gravity boosted Tackle.

Unfortunately, while his plan worked, it also helped Geodude. "Alright Bulbasaur! Now, use Vine Whip on the ground to push yourself to the left!" Hopefully, this tactic would allow him to - "Bulba!!" Geodude had still managed to collide with Bulbasaur, although the damage was migitated from not being a direct hit. "Shake it off, Bulbasaur! Finish him off with a Vine Whip!" Bulbasaur shook his head, trying to follow Izzy's instructions, and win his first battle. The vine tendrils shot forward, straight towards Geodude.

The Poison appeared unexpectedly, dealing some damage. The surprised Geodude had no chance. The Vine Whip struck head on and Geodude fainted. "Hmm. Your Bulbasaur is very well motivated. Go Onix!" Brock sent out his ace, a large Onix. The very size ought to intimidate the tiny Bulbasaur.

"Onix!" The Rock Snake pokemon roared. It slithered quickly towards Bulbasaur and launched itself in the air, rocketing towards Bulbasaur with Tackle.

Cringing at the large creature flying towards him, Bulbasaur was unable to dodge the incoming attack. Flying backwards, Bulbasaur was barely able to stand afterward. "Bulbasaur! Are you okay?!" Izzy was terrified for his new friend - that had been a powerful, direct hit. Bulbasaur simply nodded, and shook himself off, as though he was ready to try fighting more. Suddenly, his body began to shimmer with a green aura. Izzy knew what this was - Overgrowth, an ability that boosted Grass-type attacks when Bulbasaur's health dropped. "Alright, Bulbasaur, let's try a Leech Seed attack!" Dipping his head, Bulbasaur shot a few seeds from his back, which grew into a net. One much thicker and tightly woven than the one Geodude had broken apart. "Bulba-SAUR!"

Onix was much too large to effectively dodge the net. Clamped over it's tail, Onix felt some energy being drained and roared with fury. Launching another Tackle at the Bulbasaur, it rampaged with fury.

"Bulbasaur, try to dodge by using Vine Whip to slide to your left!"" Onix's size made dodging attacks difficult, but it wasn't impossible. Unfortunately, Bulbasaur didn't have the speed, so the Tackle still clipped him. Wincing, Izzy did his best to keep himself from pushing Bulbasaur too hard. "Bulbasaur, return. You did well." Bulbasaur was quickly returned to his pokeball via that odd red light. Izzy looked down at Elekid. "It's your turn, my friend." Elekid nodded, then sprinted into the arena.

Onix smirked while Brok smiled unpleasantly. "Hmm. Onix! Rock Throw!" As Onix roared, rocks flew at Elekid, trying to bury the Electric pokemon.

Izzy smirked. "We're harder to beat than that! Elekid, use Quick Attack to slip through the rocks!" The rocks barely grazing his back, Elekid Dashed through them. "Now, use Brick Break!" Trying to use the momentum from Quick Attack to give extra damage to Brick Break, Elekid charged his fist with a silvery glow.

Onix, nor Brock for that matter, was expecting that. That extra boost helped as Onix crashed to the ground. WIth both body and mind badly bruised, it arose with a roar that shook the rocks and flicking it's massive head to a side, it torpedoed at Elekid, aiming for a powerful Tackle.

Onix crashed into Elekid, sending him flying across the room. Elekid took his time standing up, fully aware that he couldn't take many of those attacks. Striding towards Onix confidently, he made it clear to Izzy that he had no intention of letting Onix beat him. "You're such a masochist, Elekid... But I can't say I'm not proud. Use Brick Break!" His fist aglow with silvery light once more, Elekid began sprinting towards Onix, ready to strike. "Ele!"

This time Onix was prepared. He dodged with remarkable quickness then it dashed towards Ekeid, using Bind, coiling round and round and then compressing it's hard, rocky body around Elekid uncomfortably hard.

The force was quickly building up as Onix squeezed. Elekid grimaced - as stoic as he usually was, he was in pain. Izzy knew they had to do something fast. "Elekid, use Brick Break on his body!" Wiggling one of his arms out from between Onix's coils, Elekid 's fist glowed as he swung it down. "Use Quick Attack to get out of there if he lets you go!" Izzy was hoping they could keep Onix on the offensive, allowing them to counter with Brick Break more easily.

Onix gave a roar of pain, quickly subsiding it to a wince. The Brick Break urged it to squeeze harder. Taking out it's anger and vengenance at being hurt by an Electric type, it gnashed it's stone-hard body painfully against the Elekid in it's grasp. No way would it let it escape until the Bind attack was over.

Elekid cried out for the first time since their first battle in Saffron. Izzy looked down at his arms, pulling up his sleeves so the scars were visible. Knowing that he had protected Elekid all of those years ago, he knew he would have to find a way for Elekid to win. They couldn't let Brock stand in their way to strength. Now a deadly calm, Izzy knew that they only had one tactic left. "Elekid. I know the pain isn't easy to deal with. I will always remember that day in Saffron, and I know you will too. But we will NOT lose here. Keep using Brick Break until he lets you go!" Elekid locked eyes with Izzy, who held his scarred arms up. Elekid nodded, and lifted his arm, aglow with silvery light. He slammed his arm down, intent on breaking Onix's hold, no matter how many times he had to hit him. Izzy watched, knowing Elekid was strong enough, but also knowing that he couldn't be far from getting knocked out. This was going to be close, without a doubt.

Hanging by a thread of conciousness, Onix binded stronger and then took a risk. Ramming itself, it tried to Tackle Elekid while held fast, ramming itself a bit.

Elekid's arm had already been raised in preparation for another strike, so it seemed clear that he could shift his strike to hit Onix's head, probably knocking him out. However, Elekid was tired. Not just tired, but TIRED. Onix made contact, but not without being struck by Elekid's Brick Break, as well. Elekid struggled to stay conscious, the only thing keeping him standing being his desire to become strong, so HE could protect Izzy. Even that, however, might not be enough, as he slowly began to lose his grip on consciousness. Izzy watched Onix's Tackle in horror, and knew it would be a while before they even attempted to battle again; Elekid would have trouble walking for awhile afterwards.

As the Brick Break landed, Onix grip slackened. Onix slumped to the floor limply. Not only had his Bind ended, he had fainted. The last Brick Break had been a critical.

Bulbasaur gained 12 exp!
Elekid gained 14 exp!
Elekid grew to level 15 with 10 exp remaining!
Elekid learned Shock Wave!

Brock sighed. "The Boulder Badge is yours." Tossing him the badge, he turned to tend to his pokemon.

Izzy wasn't even paying attention to the badge; he let it sail by him as he ran to Elekid. "You were absolutely amazing out there, I can't believe how far we've come. Let's get you healed up, that Bind must have hurt badly." Izzy cradled Elekid, stooping to pick up his badge on the way out. "Thank you, Brock. It was a pleasure and an honor to battle you." Izzy walked to the Pokemon Center, both very happy and absolutely terrified for Elekid. After all, they'd just proven that not even type differences could stop them;however, they still had a long way to go. Izzy stepped up to the counter and set Elekid down, placing Bulbasaur's Pokeball next to it. "I would be very grateful if you would heal my Pokemon, Nurse Joy."

Nurse Joy quickly scurried up to the bruised Elekid. "Of course." Gathering up the pokeball and the Electric pokemon, she quickly stepped to the emergency room. When she came back, Elekid seemed fine. "And your Bulbasaur." Handing him the pokeball, she bowed. "Thank you for waiting, we hope to see you again."

Izzy smiled as Elekid began flexing his muscles; clearly, he was once again fine. Izzy let everyone out of their Pokeballs once he got outside, and showed them the new Badge. "Now, we're headed home. Time to take on Misty! But first, Duskull, we've got to get you some battle experience." Izzy ran off towards Mt. Moon, overjoyed at how well his adventure was going, and excited that he could continue to grow stronger.

((I had planned on trying to train Duskull in Mt.Moon, and I'm too lazy right now to make a new thread, so... merr. :p ))

(Not a problem not a problem~ Also, I think the gods are favouring you. >> You just had to get a water pokemon...But I buffed it up a bit to make it harder and to reward your pokemon with extra exp~)

Izzy saw the Goldeen jump from the pond, and knew he had an opportunity to train against Water-types. He sent out both Bulbasaur and Duskull. "Bulbasaur, you'll be handling the main part of this fight, I'll have Duskull take over close to the end. Open up with Vine Whip!" Bulbasaur nodded, and sent the tendrils speeding towards Goldeen.

Goldeen majestically jumped out and lunged at Bulbasaur, it's horn glowing. Goldeen had used a super effective move which, at that level difference, could cause Bulbasaur to faint. It had used Peck.
