Training in Viridian Forest? [Mod needed...]

Charmel stared at where Machop attacked the boulder with awe. "Charmander? Char, mander." he said determendly, asking the fighting type if he would like to join them on their journey. His eyes lit up in determination and hope, he really wanted the other to say yes. But he couldn't be to sure.

Kevin was surpised to see how strong Machop was and gave a small smile. The Pokemon was strong and seemed kind, a good combination. He pulled his backpack off and dug in it for a few minutes, he knew his dad had put extra things in it when he wasn't looking, and made a small "Aha!" once he found a potion. He released Metapod from her pokeball and sprayed the medicine on her wounds, making the bug type feel much better.

"Meta." she chirped happily before noticing Machop and gave a cheerful cry of, "Metapod!" in greeting.

"We'll train some in a bit, for now me and you can relax in that clearing over there until you're ready to train." the blue eyed trainer told the bug Pokemon, pointing over at a clearing towards their left then grabbed his guitar, putting it back in the case, and his backpack before heading over to it, Metapod happily following behind her trainer.

Meanwhile, as Kevin was handling the Machop and his own team, Yoku was getting right to business. Now that Dansei had some energy and Tamogo was well rested, both could use more training. The trainer and Pokemon walked along the dense forest, not far from the makeshift camp, and managed to find a decent sized clearing. Once Dansei burned away any hazardous foliage, they both looked to Yoku for their first training instructions...

[Beginning of training]

"Okay," Yoku said with her voice trailing off as her mind wandered on what she actually wanted to train her Pokemon in... it would be the last bit of training she did in a while, she still had to catch some Pokemon to start her breeding career soon, but her Pokemon had to be in tip-top shape to make that so! Still, battling and gaining strength were important parts of a trainer's life... knowing just how to proceed, Yoku nodded to herself, finitely deciding what to work on.

"Dansei, Tamogo, I know what we're going to work on. I want the two of you to battle like you're opponents. Put aside any friendship and alliances you have, at least for the moment. Only focus on doing your greatest in battle and winning. You both have a shot at things," she smiled, knowing Dansei's power would be well balanced by Tamogo's wild-card moves.

Both Pokemon seemed hesitant, but their bright eyes soon glanced from Yoku's own vivid green to each other's: a fiery red filled with power met with a deep, endless black, both made an unspoken acceptance to the challenge. Their locked gazes turned from friendly to sparking with fury and rivalry, it almost seemed as if an invisible current of electricity was crackling between the two, forced into being by the might of their gaze. Without breaking their eye contact, both started slowly backing away from each other to start their fight at opposite ends of the clearing, as was something most actual battles would start with. The two small Pokemon met Yoku's gaze one more time, though the silent and invisible tension, still a crackle of a furious spark, remained between the two. Both longed to prove themselves to the other, and both would do just that...

It was Dansei who made the first move. Like the mighty volcano her species was named for, a mighty flame burst from atop her head and down to create a flickering tail. Like fuel, the notion of a battle only made the fire greater and erratic, even the wind added to the effect, making the fire billow out like a dramatic movie scene. She made one step toward Tamogo with an intimidating growl, and lowered her head while narrowing her eyes in a glare, the fire from her head cast flickering shadows across the blazing red gaze, and Tamogo couldn't help but shudder. As the effects of the Leer washed over him, his mind wracked for an answer to reply to the stronger and older Pokemon.

Shaking the cold feeling of dread the glare brought him, Tamogo tried unsuccessfully to mimic the Leer, only making Dansei burst into a chuckling laugh: a mistake on her part. Taking advantage in her momentary lapse of defense, Tamogo did just what he had set up by playing on the Quilava's confidence. Making a quick dash with his more agile body, though he stumbled, still not used to having so much available motion. Launching into a full dash, he made a jump at Dansei about half-way into the clearing and spread his wings, causing him to bullet toward his friendly foe just as Dansei noticed him coming toward her. Bracing for an attack, her body tensed in a defensive crouch as her muscles tightened to stop the blunt of Tamogo's attack. Surprisingly, the Togetic spread his wings to deaden his speed right above Dansei, and he dropped onto her back, giving her one kiss directly on her head.

Looking up in surprise, Dansei felt Tamogo's body weight lift from her body. He didn't seem to try an attack, and she relaxed for a split second. Suddenly, a surreal and cold feeling pumped through her body, the first hint of something being off about Tamogo's strange action. Her eyes widened, and with dread she realized just what he had done. It was too late to stop it now, and though she tried to shake her head clear, but her vision blurred and spots danced on every edge of her sight. His Sweet Kiss had taken effect, and she would risk hurting herself in her blurred, altered and skewed senses. Baring her sharp fangs toward what looked like Tamogo, she knew she'd have to recover quickly in order to win the fight.

With Dansei confused thanks to his quick thinking, a burst of hope flooded through Tamogo. He could win this battle if he acted quickly, and as if to prove it to himself, he spread his wings and jumped above Dansei, wiggling his finger precariously as he did so. Suddenly, an eerie feeling washed over him as his shadow extended from its place, growing a strange ghostly life of its own. It shot out at Dansei, who only jumped straight into it when she tried to dodge, thanks to her confused state. The Shadow Sneak struck her, the first attack of the battle. Grinning in success, he gently landed at Dansei's side, a big mistake on his part.

Dansei felt the chill travel down her spine as the eerie ghost attack struck her, and her fur bristled while the flame atop her head blazed even brighter. That is, until an idea crept across her mind. If she couldn't judge her attacks correctly, neither should Tamogo. She subsided her flame, it would be too big of a giveaway of her position, and released a jet of black smoke, causing the surrounding area to be cloaked inside of a pitch black cloud of smoke, almost impossible for either Pokemon to see very far. With her flame subsided, Tamogo narrowed his eyes as he lost all sight of the Quilava. He frantically searched, to try and get another attack out before her confusion would wear off, but she was nowhere to be found.

Tamogo frantically meandered quickly through the smoke, desperately searching for Dansei. No matter where he looked, however, the only thing to greet him was the choking of the black smoke in his throat. Glancing back at his wings, which were themselves almost obscured due to the smoke's thickness, he got an idea. He rapidly flapped them, spinning in circles, and to his surprise, he actually managed to clear some of the cloud away. With a flare of hope, he did his spinning and flapping all around him, and the black smoke lifted and cleared away, taking to the sky and clearing from the field. He blinked in shock. Dansei wasn't anywhere on the ground. He had been too confident, just as Dansei had been at the beginning. Lying on the cleared field was a single dark hole, where Dansei had used dig and burrowed somewhere underground. He gulped, searching desperately for anything to signify where his foe was underground, and he knew it could be the end for him.

Sure enough, a hot sensation started forming at Tamogo's feet, and he looked down at it confusedly. Putting two and two together, he tried to jump out of the way, but it was too late. Dansei had known that a Dig would be ineffective against Dansei now that he had wings, but that didn't mean she couldn't have used the attack as cover. She suddenly collapsed the dirt at Tamogo's feet and replaced it with a singing Ember that shot at Tamogo as many different, tiny flames. They hit their mark perfectly, and the little flying type was sent hurtling across the clearing. Grinning in success, she knew she had the battle won.

Tamogo slammed into the ground with a thud, and lay there, stunned. He rolled onto his side and fluttered his wings to allow himself to hop to his feet. Knowing he would be out in one more of Dansei's string and stunning fire attacks, he had to play on the defensive. He noticed Dansei had disappeared within another hole, and if he didn't do anything soon, he would fall victim to another of her ambush attacks. Taking a risk, he gulped down his doubt and wiggled his finger, creating another spontaneous attack.

At first, nothing happened. Tamogo hung his head, knowing he was beat. Just as the heat started forming at the ground below his feet, a tremble occurred. The heat paused for a moment as Dansei hesitated in slight confusion. There was another tremble. Then another, this one more powerful. In surprise, Tamogo looked to the field just as the Earthquake grew full-force. Crying out, Dansei tried to wriggle out of her tunnel, but the trembling and shaking of the ground made her lose her balance and lose her grip on any solid ground. Quite suddenly, the ground collapsed above her, and it was all over. She stood for one moment, meeting Tamogo's shocked gaze with one of congratulations, and her blazing gaze subsided as unconsciousness overwhelmed her. She slumpt to the ground, fainted.

Still shocked, Tamogo blinked a few times and took in the sight of Dansei's slumped position. It had been a gamble, but one that paid off. He had won. He grinned and turned toward Yoku, who returned Dansei for a rest before taking Tamogo in her arms for a well earned rest. It had been the greatest battle she had seen, and by her Pokemon no less! Both looked wiser and stronger, and their training came to an end.

At some point while Charmel and Machop conversed, Kevin had fallen asleep against a tree. He was woken up by the sound of a body repeatedly hitting a tree trunk. He opened his eyes and yawned before looking at his watch, he'd been asleep for at least an half an hour. He then looked up to witness Metapod standing a ways away from a tree near the entrance of the clearing, glaring at it as if it we're an opponent before using Harden then Tackle, charging at the object as fast as she could, causing it to shake slightly as the attack hit.

"That's great progress." He praised, keeping an eye on the tree for any angry Beedrill.

Meanwhile, Charmel was trying to convince Machop to join their team and come along with them on their journey. He waited eagerly for a reply from the fighting type.

"Ma..." Machop seemed indecisive. Perhaps some more time with the Pokemon would make it like the group enough to join...

Charmel grinned, happy that Machop was at least thinking about it. He looked at the boulder once more, and with blazing determination powered up Rock Smash and pulled his little fist back before launching it toward as fast as he could, punching the crack he made earlier and causing a hole to appear that was slightly larger then the small fire lizard's fist. He grinned smugly at his work.

"Hey Charmel, come train with Metapod for a bit." Kevin called out. Charmel grinned excitedly before motioning for Machop to join them in their training.

Machop happily strolled over and watched apprehensively as Metapod Tackled the tree, causing it to shake.

(Would you like a wild encounter now?)

(I don't mind. Metapod could get some more battle experience from it and Charmel could too probably. ^^)

Metapod repeated the action once more, putting more speed and power into it as she slammed into the tree before stopping to rest. Charmel was curious, how would he and Metapod train? Would they both battle each other again? He had the advantage, but from what he could tell the bug type had been putting the last half an hour working on her speed and strength. If the two did face one another it would be interesting.

Suddenly two electric pokemon came in view, both bristling with sparks and facing each other angrily. And Electrike and a Tynamo. The Electricke barked angrily at the Tynamo and the latter wriggled unhappily. They were apparently having an argument. Suddenly they consecutively saw the trainer and his pokemon and paused, their quarrel momentarily forgotten.


Level 12

Metapod and Charmel both looked at each other then the two electric Pokemon. Both got into fighting stances, challenging the two to a fight with wary glances. Embers manifested in Charmel's mouth while Metapod glowed a metallic white.

Tynamo bristled with Sparks as it shot a small, weak version of a thunderbolt at Metapod while Electrike sped forward with Tackle at Metapod, both were grouping up against one, using the term, 'Divide and conquer.'

Charmel quickly jumped in front of Metaopd, taking both attacks. Once he felt Electrike's body ram into him he released Ember, his body was slowly starting to feel numb as sparks bounced off his orange skin, signalling that Tynamo's attack paralyzed him.

"Metapod, use Harden then Tackle." Kevin said, eyes narrowing as he watched the battle. Metapod used Harden once more before charging at Tynamo as fast as she could. Teamwork was both Pokemon's chance of proving to their trainer that their training was working, even with so little time to really train they put much effort into it...

Tynamo was blown back by the Ember. Warbling angrily, it released a stronger attack. With electricity dancing on it's being, it released a large Charge Beam at Charmander while Electrike also released a powerful electric move, Shock Wave (EM). The Shock wave was bound to hit Charmander. Then the Electrike bounded forward with another Tackle.

"Charmel, try Ember once more then Rock Smash!" Kevin said biting his bottom lip. "Metapod, get behind either one and use string shot!" He added. Charmel charged up an Ember, the flame on his tail growing as he released the attack at the charge beam at close range, causing a small explosion of dust and debris to form. Kevin the got an idea.

"Wait on your attacks, Charmel use smoke screen first!" Kevin called out, earning a groan from Charmel before he released a thick smoke from his mouth to cover the field as the debris started to clear. Charmel was starting to feel the effects of the shock wave but ignored it as he tried to find Electrike, his small fist glowing faintly. Metapod had been behind Tynamo before Charmel released the smoke screen and shot a thick string of silk at Tynamo, barely able to see the electric type in the cover of smoke screen.

Tynamo was unprepared for the barrage of attacks. Quickly bound up by the string, it was tied up. It struggled before letting loose a Charge Beam. The string quickly soaked it up but caused a few of them to come undone. It wriggled out of the rest as Electrike quickly bit through the remaining string. Then it released another Shock Wave at Charmander while Tynamo battled off the Ember with Charge Beam.

Charmel grunted, flame growing bigger as he continued to battle off the Charge Beam with Ember.Kevin bit his lip harder, thinking of how to do some damage.

"Let up Ember and dodge. Metapod, keep using String Shot until I tell you otherwise." he said, another idea coming to mind. Charmel jumped to the side, letting up the Ember as Metapod shot the thick string at both Tynamo and Electrike, Charmel then let loose a powerful Ember at the two.

Tynamo shredded the String Shot with Spark this time, as shot another Charge Beam at Charmander, partnered by Electrike's Shock Wave.

Kevin's eyebrow twitched. "Charmel, dodge again then go in with a Rock Smash!" He instructed. "Metapod,  try string shot once more!" He added, he could tell that both Pokemon were getting tired. Charmel jumped in the air and brought his glowing fist down on Tynamo while Metapod shot multiple String Shots at Tynamo and Electrike.

Tynamo dodged the String Shot, which attached itself on Electrike. It was quickly handled with one Bite, before releasing a Shock Wave on Metapod, partnered with Tynamo's Charge Beam, as both headed for the defenseless Cocoon pokemon.

Charmel growled, glaring at the two Pokemon. Metapod cried out on pain at the two attacks. Charmel charged at Electrike and Tynamo as fast as he could,  both fists glowing faintly. Kevin was completely irritated. "Be careful and attack both!" He said, earning a nod from the fire lizard as he went around the two so he was behind Tynamo and Electrike and charged at them at high speeds, swinging both fists at both opponents.

Tynamo and Electrike had a quick agreement as suddenly Tynamo merged behind the Electrike. The attack hit Electrike from both sides and it fell down, trembling. Tynamo released Charge Beam at close range at the Charmander as the Electrike slowly got up and used a Shock Wave on the Fire Lizard pokemon.

"You okay Charmel?!" Kevin asked in concern, earning a weak cry from the fire lizard. Both Pokemon looked exhausted and Kevin was running out of ideas, fast. Then he remembered the Machop...

The Machop was quietly standing aside, speculating the battle. The Tynamo released another Charge Beam, while Electrike used another Shock Wave.

"Dodge!" Kevin growled out. Charmel and Metapod nodded, Charmel ran and grabbed Metapod before jumping high onto a tree branch just low enough or him to reach. "Machop, do you think you can help us out a bit?" Kevin asked the fighting type, not keeping his eyes off the battle. Both of his Pokemon looked tired, but determined to win. Chrmel's flame grew once more as he waited for a command. "Metapod, String Shot and Charmel use Ember at them!" Kevin said, balling his fists as he glanced at the two Pokemon, all three coming to a silent agreement.

Charmel used Smoke Screen once more, but it was much thicker and darker this time before jumpng into the thick cover, his tail flame couldn't be seen in the Smoke Screen. Still holding Metapod close he quietly began to sneak up on Electrike and Tynamo, then both bug and fire type launched their attacks simultaneously at full power, hoping to land direct hits.

"Mach?" The Fighting pokemon looked up suddenly, startled. Tynamo was struck by both the attacks, affected by low visibility. Electrike Bit through the strings yet again, getting tired and angry from the prolonged battle. Letting loose a Shock Wave at the annoying Charmander, Tynamo quickly wiggled forward and slammed the tree with a Spark, hoping to shake the duo off or perhaps electrify them with a weak charge at least, since the tree would be absorbing most of the electricity.
