[Mega 4 Mod] Off to See the Professor

Zetsu, having just woken up a bit later in the morning than usual, got up and stretched in front of an open window. He was on the third floor of a room in the Pokemon Center, and as usual, felt a breeze blow in. Upon finishing his stretch, he looked over to a mirror, noticing that his hair was still down even though he had been tossing all night in a fitful dream. It wasn't often he had a fitful rest... The trainer, turning his thoughts from it, looked over to his zorua that had woken up on the bed. "Ready to go," he asked her, the pokemon simply giving a nod. Zetsu had slept in his clothes given he was to meet the professor today, the trainer grabbing the one bad he had before his zorua jumped to his shoulder. "Shouldn't be too long of a day, but given the idiocy of most humans, it might take longer," he contemplated aloud, his pokemon observing peacefully forward.

Zetsu walked from the room he had stayed in, key in tow in his pocket, stopping near the front desk. "I'm signing out," he told the nurse, handing her the key before receiving the usual clipboard with pen. He signed his name, having signed in and out with Yveltal as his alias. He still couldn't recall his name, no matter how many fitful rests he had or how long he spent attempting to recall it. The nurse bid him a fair day, Zetsu refusing to return the gesture as he walked towards the exit of the center and then out of it. He could tell there was a bit more of a breeze than he anticipated, given that the trees were swaying a bit more than average and the zorua's fur swayed a bit. Jacket in his backpack, one key less, Zetsu set forth towards the professor's laboratory; after all, wasn't that the major event of the day? He was going to meet the professor, pondering how he, just like others, would respond to his god's alias for his name.

The sun was not very high up in the sky, yet people were busily moving around the city. For all it's grandeur, Lumiose was a metropolitan city, full of precisely what Zetsu despised - people. A few run-ins would be inevitable. However, to the male's good luck, other than a few glances at his Zorua - pokemon not native to Kalos were rare - he went largely unnoticed. The populace went about their lives, a child running past, hand outstretched and clasping a balloon, followed closely by a Litleo. An elderly man enjoyed a walk around, while a businessman rushed to work. A fashionable woman walked - well, sashayed past - accompanied by a Furfrou, both looking condescending. Human nature was diverse, but quite all bad. In a dark alley, a teenager accompanied by a slightly older male bound up the paw of a whimpering Bunnelby, perhaps stray or wild. An old woman threw crumbs to Fletchling, sitting contentedly beside her grandchild, it appeared, the way the child talked animatedly, constantly and freely. There was no shortage of people and pokemon, living akin, together, sharing quarters in home and heart alike. The lab was visible just around the industrial building of a firm for food products.

Zetsu gave acknowledgement to all of the sights that he would see on his journey to the professor's lab... And most, in his opinion, were disgusting. "Look at them," he grumbled a bit, his zorua's eyes watching the scenery. While she found fascination with the simple things, she had also grown to be a bit hateful towards some humans. "Everyone ignores what happens in this world, particularly in places like this. They go about life, ignoring the problems knowing it creates negativity for others... That's why I'm proud to serve Yveltal," Zetsu continued, not so loudly since he didn't want to attract unnecessary attention to himself.

After passing an industrial building, mostly likely of which served food and other produce, he spotted the professor's lab. "There's his lab... Sycamore must be a lucky scientist to be hidden amongst such a bustling city," he scoffed, walking up the stairs of the building after bypassing the fence outside. He walked up to the doors, walking through them before he called to the professor. "Professor, I believe I requested to see you today," he spoke aloud. "Since I was unavailable a couple of days ago; something about looking into some rumor for you I think... Or was it something else?" His last statement emitted just how unsure he was of what he was visiting for. The one thing he did know was that Sycamore didn't know his name or his pokemon.

(o.o Wow, professor Sycamore looks...different from the other professors. Also, I think you start from Vaniville, as I found out while reading his page, as first he battles you then offers you one of the pokemon. I assume you've come to pick up one of the starters? If so, then which one? Kalos or Kanto? And also, do you have to battle him to pick a pokemon?)

The lab seemed to be mostly empty, deserted even, with little to no sound emitting from inside. However, rapid footsteps would be audible shortly before a man, perhaps in his thirties, sporting a stubble and wearing a labcoat haphazardly thrown over his casual clothing of a shirt and pants opened the door. However, the footsteps hadn't been of one. Behind him stood a Garchomp. Despite her fierce appearance, she seemed benign and gentle. "Ah, yes. Hello. How may I help you...?" Not only was this a question from the professor, it also indicated his lack of knowledge of his name, asking a two-way question. He spoke in a light accent, and three pokeballs would be visible, clipped to his belt.

[Well, the lab was in Lumios, so I decided to start there. And you can't just hand me a pokemon that's not in my app (well you could, but yeah x3x). I'd proabably have to battle the three or do something for him to attain a new pokemon o3o']

Zetsu heard the professor approach hastily, observing that a pokemon was with him. Watching the Garchomp and its calm nature, Zetsu found himself questioned, extending his hand and shaking the professor's as he spoke. "Well, I asked someone if I could make an appointment a few days ago since I was going to be unavailable a couple of days ago... So here I am," he spoke. "Just telling the woman... Well, my name, seemed to peak her interest and she pointed me to you. I dunno why I'm here I suppose." He then scratched the back of his head. "Regardless, this is my zorua," he spoke pointing to the pokemon. Zorua's ears twitched lightly in recognition of being pointed out, the pokemon looking up at the professor and Garchomp with a bit of a smile. "And, I suppose if it will be of interest, my name is Yveltal. It's the only name I know I've been called." With the way his eyes looked, it wasn't hard to observe how the name with them intrigued anyone.

[Oh that staple head scratching~] [Partial truth~]

(Well, yes, but once you battle and win against the Professor, he gives you a level 10 Kanto starter. Sure you don't want it?)

Having shook hands, the professor had been stroking his chin, arms crossed, listening quietly until Zetsu came to his name. It seemed to have struck a nerve. "Yveltal...? You mean, as in the legend?" He asked, flinching slightly. The Garchomp seemed affected by her trainer's slight mental disturbance, gaining a slit-eyed suspicious look towards the trainer. Sycamore reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I-I see. You best come in." He moved aside, Garchomp to the other side, making way for the boy and his pokemon. Once they were inside and the door having been closed, Sycamore drew up a chair while Garchomp fetched another for Zetsu. "Now, tell me everything." He leaned forward, obviously interested.

Zetsu saw Sycamore's flinch. Of all the reactions he could've thought of, he hadn't expected the professor to do that one. He followed when gestured, sitting when brought a chair. He thanked the garchomp, acting polite as he sat, zorua hopping from his shoulder to be petted. "I can't say, necessarily, everything," he told Sycamore. "But... All I know is I cannot recall my birth name. All I've ever been called is Yveltal. At a young age I had been kidnapped, and low-and-behold, my kidnappers had found Yveltal. It took them seven years to get it to wake up, but still; seven years was a long time, and I was never allowed to leave one room..." He scratched behind his zorua's ear. "I snuck back to the pokemon, and I trained under it; you see, I'm an aura trainer. And through it all, I was always called Yveltal, even by the pokemon itself." He lifted his free hand, gesturing lightly towards something on Sycamore's table, watching it make noise as it moved a couple of inches. "An incident arose soon after... And, well, I became drowsy. The last few memories I have are of being set down and told I would sleep." He finally set his hands in his lap. "So here I am. About one thousand years ago, this lab didn't even exist. No roads, no cars... And certainly more trees." He shook his head a bit after closing his eyes. "I listened to Yveltal in my deep sleep; I trained with it by being instructed... I heard of the destruction of life by humans, as well as the building of huge towers... So there you have it... Well, all but one thing; I suppose the reason I still use Yveltal as a name is not just because I've been called it; I share blood with it. That's why I'm still alive..."

"...I see..." Sycamore mumbled as he busily wrote in a notebook. As he busily flipped back and forth between pages, it was visible - and clearly so - that the cover bore the name of the trainer's deity - Yveltal. The notebook seemed to be all research on the legendary. When Professor momentarily looked up to take note of what moved on his table, the picture of a hieroglyphic image of Yveltal drawn on a tile was stuck on the page, amidst a sea of writing in untidy cursive. "Very interesting. The lady did correct to send you here. Who was she? Did you know her?" The Professor got to his feet, walking over to the boy and taking his arm in his hand, began inspecting it. "And what Yveltal did, it has no side effect on you?" He knelt before the boy, producing a torch from his pocket, making a move to inspect his eyes.

"No... I'm possibly over one thousand years old; even if I've been awake a few years it doesn't seem as though I'd be very acquainted with anyone, would it," Zetsu questioned the professor lightly before staring at his arm being outstretched for observation. "Yveltal didn't do it; it was forced, but the pokemon didn't seem to care much. The only side effect that I'm aware of is my eyes..." He then found that the professor was attempting to inspect them, and given a human's natural curiosity, Zetsu let it happen. They were definitely odd and not humane, yet Zetsu was clearly a human. "I have to ask though, professor, since even I can't comprehend human behavior as well as Yveltal; why is this so fascinating?"

Sycamore was struggling to retain his composure, partly for the fact that he was excited at the discovery and sight of the trainer's eyes, unique as they were, and partly because the aura was so powerful. Almost as if a god resided in him. Almost as if...

As though it were a part of him. "Tell me, when you say you've been awake for a few years. Have you been sleeping for a thousand years? And-and do you remember your life before your sleep?" Shaking his head in disbelief, he stood back up. "Well, I'm only a Pokemon professor, not a psychologist, but anything different, unique, causes puzzlement to the ordinary human. Well, person. A desire to study, to understand it arises." He pocketed the torch and motioned to the Garchomp, who retreated to the depths of the lab.

"That's what Yveltal said would happen to me," Zetsu spoke to the professor. "And sure enough, nobody I knew is alive. The nest it built for me to sleep about diminished, and all these new things were here when I awoke." He watched the professor seem to be entranced in the discovery of himself (Zetsu). "I believe it's words were 'this is the cycle of my life, and it will now be your cycle.'" He leaned back a bit in the seat, his pokemon practically asleep in boredom. "And of course I remember my life; how else could I tell you of my imprisonment in a room, or my encounter with Yveltal, the one who taught me most of what I know?" He didn't seem to give much more of a remark in terms of the psychologist bit spoken to him.

The Professor kept gazing, nodding and stroking his chin, all the while muttering 'Fascinating', enough to irk out majority of the populace. "So what connection, other than that of a mentor and a student have you shared between Yveltal and yourself?" He made a move to fetch a pen and a fresh pad of paper. "And what do you intend to do next?" He struck himself on the forehead. "I'm terribly sorry." He smiled grimly at Zetsu. "I'm starting to sound like the Press. I see you have a pokemon. Have you by any chance come to obtain a second? I hand out Kanto starters to those who can defeat me. Nothing too difficult. Just basic stuff, you know." Sycamore assumed that Zetsu was out to re-experience the world.

"Like I said," Zetsu spoke to the professor calmly, "I'm new here; only awake truly for three years." He also shrugged. "I'm not much aware of human behavior other than Yveltal's instruction, so I don't really mind the questions. It may help me settle things myself." He looked down to his sleeping pokemon, rubbing the zorua's back as he re-gave his attention to Sycamore. "What connection do I share? I, well, I dunno... I mean, I've used Yveltal for a name since I woke up; heck, given I was called that name for so long, I feel a lot like I'm related to the pokemon. We share blood, so why not?" He scratched his neck lightly. "When I talk to it... Him, him... He speaks really respectfully to me, much like a son or close friend... We share the same fate and the same core desire..." His eyes widened lightly before he closed them again, scratching his head. "Heck, it sounds like I am him! But I know I'm not." He then decided to answer Sycamore's question. "And I suppose why not. A second pokemon may be of assistance to me."

The Professor's eyebrows seemed to rise again at the 'sharing blood' part, and he looked all set to break into another volley of questions, but visibly restrained himself. "Alright, but not here. Can't have a battle wrecking my lab. Hehe." Chuckling quietly, he led Zetsu to the back of it, where a large field - large enough for a battleground - was available. Three Combee hovered around, followed by a Linoone, a Psyduck and a Marill, all watched by an Azumarill. They stopped when Sycamore appeared, quickly clearing the ground. It seemed to be drill protocol for them. He stationed himself at one end of the clearing, and called out. If you can defeat three pokemon, you can pick a starter of your choice. Are you ready?" Garchomp appeared from nowhere and stood beside the Professor. Surely he didn't mean to use her?

"Three's a bit much isn't it," Zetsu asked the professor, staring directly at him as he held his sleeping pokemon. She was beginning to wake, the trainer scratching the back of his head a bit after he had set her down on the ground. "Three against one's a bit uneven, isn't it?" He looked over to the garchomp when she seemingly appeared from thin air, the trainer staring again to Sycamore. "And tell me... Were you going to ask me another question? I feel you were given your eyes seemed to brighten a bit when I mentioned that I have Yveltal's blood in my veins."

The Professor shrugged. "I'm sorry. Three's my condition. You have only one pokemon? Most trainer coming up from Vaniville have a full team by this point. If you want I could offer you some healing items. I could lower the number of pokemon to two, but I'm bound by my contract." He stated matter-of-factly, looking over to Zetsu with slight hesitation when he mentioned what he had been thinking. "Well...yes. It should be impossibly for a mortal being to carry the blood of a god. You should not have survived the transaction. Is that perhaps the origin of your aura?" As he spoke, he unlatched several Potions from his belt and gave them to his Garchomp, who speedily delivered it to the opponent.

[Little afraid to head into a battle; can we postpone it for later? xD]

Zetsu listened to the professor before finding the garchomp bringing him items when commanded to. "I'm fine," he told the pokemon lightly, rubbing the pokemon's head a moment before sending her back. He then started to step forward, making sure to not harm his pokemon as he approached the professor. "Nah... Two would still be a bit unfair; I'll just have to capture one or two pokemon and come back at some point." He stopped near the professor. "As per your question, I don't know. I never asked, and was never told... All I know is that after the incident, everything began to change a bit; I didn't need to eat as much often nor work at my hair; sometimes it would just be prepared, or I wouldn't be starving..." He put a hand over his stomach. "It's like, destruction feeds me and witnessing it empowers me just a bit. But it also begins to make me feel a little tired as I watch on."

Sycamore nodded, agreeing with Zetsu as he spoke of capturing more pokemon. "Naturally. If you exit the lab and continue furthur down the path, you should come to Route 14." He instructed with light hand gestures. "Actually...do you have a PokeNav?" He questioned; he could easily update a map in it. His thoughts were disrupted by the trainer's delving into his 'condition'. Speaking of destruction seemed to make the Professor slightly edgy, but nonetheless he switched topics. "Incidentally, have you heard of Mega Evolution?"

"I don't have whatever that is," Zetsu spoke to Sycamore. "And Mega Evolution? I've heard of it before... Yveltal talked about it once; it's supposed to be some hidden potential mechanism, right?" His zorua rushed over to his side, Zetsu keeping his eyes on the professor. "Yveltal... Mentioned something of it to me about humans; he said... Oh, what did he say..." The trainer put a hand on his head and sighed as he thought. "I can't remember much of it, but the pokemon was a bit interested himself in my survival after I fell asleep... He mentioned something about it and something about oddities or whatnot... I can't be too sure; I might just be off my rocker at the moment." He laughed lightly before he stared to the professor again. "Ignore what I just said in that case."

"You don't?" Sycamore seemed surprised, mollified even before remembering the whole asleep-for-1000-years thing. "Of course, of course. Well, as a Professor, it is my duty to hand out PokeNavs to any trainer who does not have one. It's practically an essentiality." He rambled on richly, casting a glance at him when he spoke something, what little he knew. "Well, Mega Evolution is the tapping into the hidden potential of certain pokemon." He summarized, leading the way to the lab, to the door while fetching a PokeNav for him.

It was a bright blue colour, so he took one look at Zetsu and frowned at the machine in his hand, muttering something about style and compatibility. "Tell me, what colour would you like?" He asked casually over his shoulder as he went back to the room which probably held a stash of PokeNavs to be handed out. Garchomp clicked something to Sycamore, and both quietly chuckled over it.

"I'm not very picky about colors," Zetsu spoke to Sycamore, his pokemon following behind him as he followed the professor and garchomp. After thinking momentarily, he looked to the professor. "Professor... Do you think it possible for evolution to exist in a reverse manner? Like, was it possible Yveltal was the reason I lived?" He scratched his head again. "It's an outrageous thought, but, well, if that's possible... Who am I kidding; evolution is only for pokemon!" He laughed lightly as he turned around, looking towards a painting on the wall. "Arceus... Why am I talking to him so much," he sighed in prayer to Yveltal.

"No? Tres bien, but black would still suit you better. And very chic-looking too!" Though a Professor, deep-down at heart Sycamore was obsessed with fashion. He picked out a sleek black PokeNav and deposited it in Zetsu's hand. "Well, while reverse evolution would make for an interesting topic, it simply isn't possible, unfortunately. Though some theorize - joke, really - that when the Shellder is taken off a Slowking's head or a Slowbro's tail, it can cause the undoing of evolution. Just think..." He trailed off in chuckles. He clearly was a rationalist.

Zetsu observed as he was handed the odd device, lifting and lowering it a few times as though to get a feel for its weight. It didn't seem to be too heavy, and as such, deposited the device within his pocket. "Of course. But if it were possible, I suppose it would be possible for this instance," he spoke to the professor. "But what sort of theory do you have for it? If humans can't survive such things, then what happened that's different for me? Why am I alive?" "It's obvious... To destroy everything," he thought to himself lightly before looking up a bit. "Yveltal, precious deity... Is there more to it than this? Should I enjoy destruction as I do, and should it really feed me as it does? Please, tell me that my god."

Professor Sycamore crossed his arms, looking perplexed. "Truly, I do not know. I doubt we ever would either. What was the mere purpose of it?" He shrugged, opening the door, letting sunlight trail in. "Perhaps you'll discover that, and more, on your journey." He suggested, smiling encouragingly.

"It was supposedly to try making me a god of sorts... If I remember right," Zetsu began lightly to the professor. "I was kidnapped by two people at a young age... Like I said, I was called Yveltal for many years... I think I lost count." He had redirected his gaze to Sycamore. "Yveltal told me it was a lie and that it wasn't possible... That's why I started training under him and..." He became silent lightly, unsure whether he could trust Sycamore entirely. "That's why I killed my kidnappers. That's why I became so tired before I fell asleep."
