Suprises in Lumiose!

The group of three finally made it to Lumiose city. It was a beautiful site, especially for turists who were visiting the city for the first time.There were many big and beautiful buildings, most businesses and the like. And at the center of it all was a large tower made of glass and steel(?), the tower was even more awe inspiring when the light from the setting sun hit it and at night. This, besides the many other interesting places to explore, was what brought turists...as well as this city's gym leader, Clemont.

Anna stopped the van in front of what one would tell is the lab. Outside the gym were two small posts that had stones in the shape and color of pokeballs and a sign on one of them that said: "Pokemon Lab" on it.

"Welcome to Kalos's very own pokemon lab!" Anna said, smiling at both Megan and Edward; "The prof. also said there was a surprise for us Megan, though I'm not sure what is was. He wouldn't say." the mother then added.

Edward was too astounded by the city itself to pay any attention to the Pokemon Lab. "Wow! This place is so huge! It's even bigger than Goldenrod City!" he said. Then he looked over at the lab, and decided to also go in with Anna and Megan.

Upon going inside, there was a secretaey's desk and an elevator not too far away. The blonde smiled at Anna and Megan, then greeted Edward. Anna went to the elevator after greeting the secratery with a smile. Megan followed her mother, giving the blonde a short wave while doing so.

Once inside the elevator, Anna pressed button number three, which would lead to the professor's office.

Edward eagerly awaited for the elevator to stop at the Professor's floor. He couldn't wait to get his official trainer starter things, but he was also curious to see what Megan and her mother had in store for their "Surprise".

The doors opened with a soft ding. Anna and Megan walked out of the elevator, a small wall that went to almost half the length of the room cutting off their view of the rest of the office if they turned their heads to the right if one listened closely, there would be two voices. This meant that the professor had another guest
Suddenly, a Houndoom made a sharp turn around the corner and barked at the group, tail wagging happily behind it. Shortly sfter the fire and dark type  came a tall man with short and wavy hair, blue eyes, and the beginnings of a beard on his face wearing a lab coat.

"Ah, welcome friends! Anna, Megan. And, who are you, young man? It's nice to meet you! I'm professor Sycamore." the professor smiled as Houndoom trotted over to Megan to be petted. To her and her mother, the Pokemon seemed very familiar.

"Ahh yes, I know who you are Professor. My name is Mondo. Edward Mondo." he said shaking his head. "I was told to come see you by Prof. Elm in New Bark Town." he added

"Ah, profeasor Elm. I remember him well." The professor hummed in response. "Come with me, I'm sure you all are anxious and excited, just for different reasons." he added, turning smoothly to head back to were his desk was. Houndoom followed silently, tail still wagging behind it as he walked.

Edward and the mother and daughter followed the Professor into the other room where his desk was.

Leaning against the professor's desk was a man that looked to be in his late twenties to early thirties (he was really in his late thirties to early forties) wearing the standard ranger gear from Oblivia. His skin was a nice shade of brown, a sign of constantly being outside in the sun. 

His hair was black, going a little past his shoulders and bangs long and framing his face. Atop his head was a pair of tinted glasses. He looked nothing like Megan, the only thing they had in common was their emerald green eyes.

"Hey there, baby girl, Ann." the man smiled sheepishly as Houndoom went to his partner's side, sitting close to him. Both mother and daughter stared wide eyed and slack jawed at him for a good minute or two.

"Edward, this is Hoss, Anna's husband and Megan's father. While they catch up, how about I give you a starter and a Pokedex?" the professor suggested in a gentle yet hushed tone.

"Okay sure..." Edward whispered back, following the Professor. In the meantime, he also kept an ear out to hear the conversation that was sure to follow in the room with the apparently reunited family.

The first thing Anna did was smack her husband, it caught Megan off guard, causing to sputter in surprise and Hoss to cringe away from his wife as she got close, trapping him between her and the professor's desk.

"Three years with no form of contact and that's all you have to say?! You're unbelievable, you idiot! I can understand your reason for leaving and all-but seriously?! You had us worried!" Anna huffed, jabbing Hoss in the chest with her pointer finger with each word that left her mouth. Houndoom lowered his head, tail between his legs as he backed away from the two with a small whine.

Professor Sycamore held out a thin red device with a black pokeball symbol in the middle. With a small whistle two Pokemon ran over to the two from behind the Professor's desk.

"This is Fennekin, the fire type. And this is Chespin, the grass type. If you want a Froakie, like Megan I have one of them too." The professor said as the fire type bravely walked up to Edward and began to sniff at his pant leg. Cheapin, the rident looking grass type shied away from Edward, hiding behind the professor like a small child would.

Edward took the Pokedex, but was paying more attention to the action. Then he looked at Fennekin and Chespin. Sure the Fox Pokemon was cute, but he couldn't stop looking at those black shiny eyes of Chespin. And look at how it walked on two legs! And plus it looked so cute with what looked like a spiky hood. Even though he didn't really like Grass types, he thought Chespin was the right choice. Plus it would come in handy in a battle with Megan and her Froakie ;)

"I think I'll go with Chespin." said Edward, then turning his attention back to the little "Reunion".

Sycamore nodded, picking Chespin up and handing the little guy over to Edward as he too watched what the small family were doing. Fennekin looked slighrly disappointed, but not overly so. There was good chance another trainer would come by and get her later that day.

Hoss opened his mouth to reply but stopped as Anna shushed him and wrapped her arms around him, sighing in irritation as she did so.

"Ugh, I hope Megan won't turn out like you. You're such a bad example." she laughed, causing her husband to smile, wraping one arm around her while his other hand touched his sore and red left cheek.

"So, uh, you got Chespin?" Megan muttered awkwardly, honestly not sure what to do.

"Uh yeah..." said Edward. He smiled at his Chespin, then looked over at the reunion. But then something hit him...he took a look at Hoss and noticed he was about 28-30. Then he looked over at Megan, who was clearly 16. He kept looking back and fourth in a hasty confusion, and was able to bite his tongue before he could blurt out What, did he have a Baby when he was 12?!

Edward just stood there holding his new Chespin. He actually had planned to get Chespin when he looked at the Kalos pamphlet on the trip to Kalos. When he did, he decided on names, and now had come to the decision to name him Sanji. But now he was just standing there, watching the drama, holding the grass type. There would be a time and place to be excited and impressed by his new Pokedex and Pokemon, but now he was completely focused on the scene. He didn't know if he should comfort Megan in this awkward moment.

"Hey baby girl." Hoss called, grabbing Megan's attention as he held out a pokedex for her, Anna having let go of him. After handing Megan her pokedex. Anna asked: "So, you two wanna try and battle me and Hoss, or do you guys wanna do that another time?"

Her question made a look of curiosity light in Megan's eyes and she looked to Edward to see about his decision. It was obvious she wanted to take her parents on, but only if Ed wanted to do a double battle. If not then she could wait until later.

"Uh...sure...I guess..." said Edward. He was surprised by the sudden invitation. They just reunited and already they're challenging them to a battle? What are they rednecks?

But of course Edward accepted, wanting to give Sanji a shot.

Hoss sighed, scratching the back of his head as Houndoom stood in front of him, growling in a low tone. Megan released Ninja, deciding not to let Cyndaquil battle this time. Anna released her own Pokemon, the grass type evolution of Eevee Leafeon.

"Challengera first." Hoss deadpanned.

Edward of course put Sanji in battle, but he allowed Megan to take the first move.

"Bubble on Houndoom." Megan said. The small water type nodded before following put with the command, sending out a cluster of bubbles Houndoom's way.

"Leaf, Energy Ball! Protect Houndoom!" Anna countered. Leaf the Leafeon nodded before jumping in front of Houndoom and taking the attack himself before shooting a small green sphere of energy Ninja's way. Luckily, Ninja dodged in time.

"Use Fire Fang." Hoss ordered calmly. Houndoom barked, his teeth being engulfed in flanes as he charged at Sanji, snout wide.

Chespin was surprisingly able to dodge Houndoom's attack, and countered with a Simple counter attack

"Bubble again!" Megan exclaimed. Ninja.nodded as he blew yet another cluster of bubbles at Houndoom, this time actually making contact. But, just as Anna was going to give Leaf another order the Prof. suddenly cut in with; "Okay, I think it'd be best to end the battle here with a tie, don't you?" he gave a wide smile as he looked at the four, chuckling lightly at them.

Sanji stopped the fight, looking skeptic of what the Professor just said. Edward did as well. "Oh...so...the battle's off?" he asked. He was kinda relieved though. He honestly didn't want to have to send his new Chespin to the Pokecenter for intensive care; he knew he didn't stand a chance against a houndoom of that magnitude, and he didn't know why accepted in the first place...just to be polite to Megan's parents he guessed. But no matter, it's done now.

Megan looked to the side, pouting slightly as she lightly scratched at her cheek; looking rather sheepish. Hoss sighed as Houndoom relaxed and returned to his Trainer's side as Leaf made his way to Anna's shoulder.

"Hey Professor, Meg and Edward had gotten eggs from the Pokecenter. Don't we have any incubators in the lab somewhere?" Anna asked Sycamore, who nodded after some thought and went to go and get them. After twenty minutes he came back with two incubators and handed one to each teen.

"There you go! These incubators already have blankets in them to keep the eggs warm, so all you have to do is place them in there when you get back to them." he explained.

"So uh, do we carry them in our bags and make sure they don't break?" Edward asked.

[And are we gonna soon get to the scene where the Wilson's have their little reunion and Ed is introduced to Hoss?]

"Yes." Sycamore answered. Hoss blinked as he felt a body nearly slam into him as arms wrapped around him. Megan was hugging him and Anna was walking over to Edward while Houndoom sniffed the teens hand. Hiss hugged Megan back with a small smile.

"Edward, this Hoss, Megan's father. Hoss, this Edward, Megan's friend." Anna introduced, smiling toward the teen while gebtally pushing him foreward as Megan pulled away, looking slightly sheepish.

"Nice to meet ya, Ed." Hoss grinned, holding out his hand for the other to shake.
