Zach and The Z-Force

As soon as the trainer was driven away, they picked up their fallen Hoppip comrade and hovered away.

Nurse Joy walked out. "Hello. Do you wish to heal your pokemon?" She asked with a polite smile.

Zach turned towards Nurse Joy.

Zach: Uh yeah, I do...

He handed over the Pokeballs, but as he did, he remembered something: When he came here the first time...he battled a trainer with a Starly...and he abused it and injured it...but Zach took it here...and he made sure that it went safely to...HAJI!!! That's right, he left a note to be sent to Haji's Address! But he had to make sure...

Zach: Hey, uh, Nurse Joy? You remember me, right? I came here not too long ago, with an Injured Starly? I left it here, along with a note with an Address on it?...Did it get there?

"Oh yes. A nice little kid got it. You wanted it delivered to her, right?" Nurse Joy reminisced.

Zach: Yes! It got to her apartment alright, right? In Jubilife City?

(Is that so? :3 Happy New Year!)

"Yes it did." Nurse Joy nodded her confirmation before turning to serve another trainer.

Zach smiled. He felt nice knowing that Haji had yet another playmate, and that poor Starly had a caring, loving home.

Zach: Well you know what, I look forward to seeing them both!

After he had all his Pokémon healed, and he rested himself for a few minutes, Zach headed back out of the Pokémon Center, and back down the road down towards Jubilife city, where anything could happen.

(I'm guessing that's a topic exit?)

[No, but we'll do this first]

Zach walked down the path, and remembered a spot that he recognized from before.

Zach: Heh, wouldn't you know. This is where we battled Analice and those other Scientists...and the only one we lost to was Analice's Pikachu.

As he continued along the path he could hear the familiar sounds of the Busting Metropolis known as Jubilife City.

Zach: Well, Almost there.

As he walked along, he noticed a kind of Item in the grass.

Zach: Huh?

Zach went over to see what it is.

A small glittering rock lay embedded in the soil. Upon closer inspection, it revealed to be of a light marine blue with a dew drop sign in the middle. It was a Water stone.

Zach examined the stone.

Zach: What's this?

He picked it up.

Zach: It's a type of stone...but...I feel like I've seen one of these before...but in a shade of Green...

He decided to simply put it in his bag to worry about later. Then he continued the path down to Jubilife City.

Zach: You know, it's funny how I always find things on my way to this place.

Chapter 10

And so Zach was back on his Journey to the Sinnoh League. His current ultimate destination was Eterna City, however he knew he might end up taking a detour through Floarema town. However now he was walking down the route towards it, not knowing he was currently walking through wild pokemon infested tall grass.

Just as well that the trainer would know when a Patrat jumped at him violently and startlingly suddenly from the grass, teeth bared. Patrat were usually affrontable, but this one seemed beyond provocable, this one seemed aggressive beyond normal means.


Level 16

Zach was surprised at the sudden appearance of this strange and unusual Pokémon. He had never seen this kind before.

Zach: Whoa, what's that?

He then scanned it with his Pokedex.

[Zach scans Patrat]

(Sigh. Déjà vu.)


Patrat : The Scout Pokemon
Extremely cautious, they take shifts to maintain a constant watch of their nest. They feel insecure without a lookout. Using food stored in cheek pouches, they can keep watch for days. They use their tails to communicate with others.

The Patrat didn't stand around waiting for the PokeDex to complete it's definition. It lunged again, one paw extended to knock the device out of the trainer's hand and the other to slash at the trainer. The reason for its aggression was unknown.

[But its nostalgic isn't it? It's almost as if we hadn't battled in this RP in over a year...wait a minute...XD ]

Zach was startled as the Patrat jumped. He had kept an eye on the Pokemon when it first appeared and looked all unusually aggressive, but when the Patrat leaped at him he leaped back himself as it was slashing in the air.

Zach: Whoa!

And his Pokedex fell out of his hand as he lept, then grabbed Kex's Pokeball. Even an Angry Patrat wouldn't stand against a Houndour like Kex.

Zach: Alright ya rabid rat, eat this!

Kex then came out.

Kex: Dour!

Zach: Ember!

A Fireball shot out of Kex's mouth right at the Patrat.

(It has? :P)

The Patrat hesitated for the merest second, and it was in that instant that the fireball struck, scorching flesh and burning fur. The Scout pokemon squealed in pain, but it seemed to relish the feeling. The pain ripping through its body seemed to awaken it, to feed it. Perhaps it was masochistic, but with renewed vigor it leaped at the opponent, screeching ferociously to Tackle the Houndour and then Crunch down upon it's delicate neck area. Oh, to bury fangs through yielding flesh until fur tickles the nose; such unnerving thoughts fueled the Patrat's advance. Something was wrong here.

Kex did in fact give a yelp in pain as the Patrat crunched him, but it only made the Houndour Angrier.

Zach: Use Smog!

Kex then blew a whole stream of smog directly at the little vicious scout.

The weak poison attack itself did nothing as opposed to the damage it took from the poison it inflicted. Breathing suddenly became painful and labored for the Pokemon, and to add to his bewilderment, he didn't know why. Suddenly overcome by pain, it scratched at its ears, as though desperate to block out some sound, and the wish to hurt the sound that was hurting him was to be taken out on the Dark Pokemon. It flashed forward again to strike out with a Tackle.

Zach: Sucker Punch!

Kex ran straight forward at the crazed Patrat, attempting to collide the tackle in a Sucker Punch.

The Patrat was struck right in the mid section. Hard. Coughing and gasping, shuddering, it backed up, in more agony than was due it. Trembling, it collapsed to the ground, in despair, clinging to it's ears and covering them in a desperate attempt. Could the trainer and pokemon not hear it?

Zach could not guess what was going on with the Patrat. However, he knew it was in pain, and that it wasn't rabid but a victim of something. But what?

Before Zach could do anything, Ferdinand appeared from his Pokeball and went over to the Patrat.

Ferdinand: Piplup! Pip-pip-pip-pip Piplup!

Ferdinand was picking up the Patrat and help cover it's ears. Then Neo, Bien, and even Snorunt came out of their Pokeballs and went over to the Unova Pokemon. Bien fanned it, trying to cool it off. Neo went to it's chest and started to perform some kind of CPR maneuver that involved some small bits of painless electricity apparently.

Zach was really impressed by his Pokemons' quick-to-help movement.

Zach: If only I had a grass type pokemon to perform aromatherapy or something...

Kex didn't know how he could help, he gestured to Zach to be recalled, and was.

Due to Snorunts Anxious nature, she was reluctant to see what she could do to help with Patrat. However, unlike the other Pokemon in the team, she could hear the sound that was tormenting the Patrat. It didn't bother her, but she heard it, and it struck her as somewhat familiar...

The Patrat, quivering, a nervous wreck, lashed out weakly with it's claws. It was in no state to even defend itself. In it's agony and disorientation, it had lost it's sense of friends from foes. Blinded, deafened, frozen, drowned. It's head swirling, it shrieked shrilly, when it suddenly stopped, it's head clearing from it's mist of uncertainty. The electricity was countering the signals which was causing it's pain. Shaking it's head and noticeably more in control, it shook off the Piplup and Shinx, and sheepishly scratched the back of it's head, the sound amplifying again as soon as he had shaken off Neo.

[Snorunt was apart of a lab experiment by a sociopathic doctor, and it fled to Zach int Mount Coronet, and the Doctor decided to let Zach have her. Look in the Oreburgh thread, it's somewhere in there.]

Zach: Keep trying!

His Pokemon continued to try and hold the Patrat down, attempting to calm it.

Snorunt: Snorunt!

Snorunt then pitched in a way to assist, by using Powdered snow to calm it's nerves.

(I'm...pretty sure sociopathic doctors won't just part with their experiments like that, but oh well. Just so you know, your fully evolved (read: none) will be less affected by the noise than the non evolved pokemon; and also maybe some pokemon that can grant happiness to others (read: Togepi and it's line, Happiny and it's line). I have a plot coming up o3o)

The Patrat didn't take being pinned down very well, squalling indignantly all the while, when suddenly, it erupted into a bright white light. It was dazzling, strong, powerful. Power. It emanated power. When it died one, one might have spots in their vision, and hence shield the Watchog as it shook off it's holders and scurried off, shuffling an awkward couple of steps before falling face-first and curling up into a quivering, miserable ball.

Now for a fact, the ex-Patrat was only level 16, while they evolved into Watchog at level 20. What was happening here? If Zach's pokemon were exposed to the noise for too long, the same would happen to them; premature evolution.

(And yes, the noise should be audible to all pokemon unevolved or not, but it will have an effect on the unevolved ones, while no effect on fully evolved pokemon. It's your choice whether Zach can hear it or not.)

(Well more like mad, but he's still smart. And he's planning something for Zach and his Pokemon, so he's letting Snorunt go until Zach gets to Snowpoint city...stronger. And excuse me, but I've never read the Manga (all the way at least), so I wouldn't know the noise thing.)

Zach was utterly shocked by the Patrat suddenly evolving. But the Pokemon were even more shocked, Snorunt especially snorunt.

Zach: What?!

Snorunt recognized the noise, and and panicked. She went over the Pokemon and warned them about something. The Pokemon began panicking as well, and ran over to their trainer, gesturing to be recalled.

Zach: What? Ok...

Zach recalled them, and as they suddenly got quiet, he could hear it...the faint humming sun-like noise.
