It was dark. The overcast skies block out what little light there was this night. Dante could barely make out the moon behind the clouds. To the north he could make out the mountain that Dark Cave ran through. He was wandering among the trees looking for any nocturnal Pokemon that might be lurking about.
Pokemon of many varieties lurked about among the trees as the trainer roamed in search of them. A large portion of them were dormant, inactive until sunrise as they rested peacefully, undetected in the almost pitch black area. The sound of numerous Caterpie and Weedle rustling about in the bushes and on the top of the tall trees were constant. Several Murkrow and Hoothoot flew about from tree to tree carrying about, minding their own business uninterrupted and ever so slightly noticed. Of course, these four species were not the only constituents of the area, as the trainer would soon come to learn. The presence of the foreign entity was not ignored by the inhabitants.
Dante would hear distant cries coming from different directions all around him. As if a voice was calling out to him, the sound would attempt to guide the trainer towards it but without giving him much time, approach him slowly. The faint cry coming at him from all directions, no physical presence presented itself although one would feel such a presence around oneself. After much suspense, a purple gaseous substance can be seen almost surrounding the trainer before abruptly disappearing from Dante's sight - manifesting itself in a physical form behind him.
Two large eyes would open behind Dante and the cries, now much louder and less agnostic, can be heard directly behind him. It was the ghost type Pokemon Gastly! Manifesting arm like structures from the gaseous substance in which it was enveloped, it would place its hands on Dante in an attempt to scare him in the entire process. Gastly, as a species, habitually played pranks and tricked unsuspecting trainers and the visit of a foreign person in its environment, this particular Gastly saw the situation in whole as an invitation as many other of its kind may have.

Dante peered around for the source of the eerie whispers, but he could not pinpoint it. It is not a common noise. His hazel eyes caught the purple haze that outlined his shoulder which then quickly disappeared right after it was noticed.
A sudden high-pitched scream coming from behind surprised - but did not scare - the triangular faced trainer. Having quickly recovered from the surprise, with a straight face, the red-haired slender man would turn to face the black wraith whose eyes seem to extend past its round body. Its gaseous hands reached for him, to which he would have no reaction to whatsoever.
Dante has had many experiences during his childhood years that expunged him of all his fears. "To conquer fear," he would recall the words of the late Eraldo while they were on a trip to a haunted house. "You must become fear. You must bask in the fear of other men, and men fear most what they cannot see."
Moving on, Dante would talk to the Ghost Pokemon. "Theatrically and scare tactics - powerful agents to the fearful, but we are fearless aren't we, wild Gastly?"
The wild Pokemon was used to being challenged and knocked out cold by passing trainers. Her pranks and the stunts she pulled off routinely scared trainers and resulted in agitated battles involving the trainers' own Pokemon and without much competition would result in a loss for the ghost type. Yet, she never seems to learn and continues with her antics frequently. The lack of agitation displayed by Dante took the Gastly by surprise as she had expected a much more entertaining reaction. The trainer had not called out any of his Pokemon yet and the ghost type was looking for a fight. Not wanting to take no for an answer, the puzzled Gastly screeched loudly.
She buzzed around vigorously and zoomed in a zigzag pattern to a few feet in front of the fearless individual who spoke calmly to her. As she moved, she left behind a trail of a purple colored gaseous substance. Her eyes growing wider as she turned around to face him, she gazed in a most likely failed attempt to intimidate and provoke Dante. Nevertheless, a battle usually ensued an encounter with an infiltrator and Gastly acting instinctively had decided to ambush him whether or not he challenges her to battle. Although she was not a seasoned fighter, she had participated her fair share of battles to know what she was doing. She had a tendency to provoke and invite humans to battle.
The wild Pokemon's eyes glowed a pink color as it inaccurately fired an orb of the same color at the trainer. The orb was initially about the size of a tennis ball but expanded as it traversed, to the size of a basketball. The move was the psychic type Hypnosis!

"Dull," Dante would grade the wild Gastly's little horror show while the creature was attempting to unsettle him.
Dante would back away as a glowing pink orb was manifesting before him. It doesn't require an intelligent man to notice the uncanny difference of the spherical matter from the regular scare tools. Dante couldn't name what it is but it's definitely some sort of attack. As the orb grew in size and went for him, Dante would sidestep to save himself from whatever damage the hovering unknown could bring.
"Pancham," Dante would invoke the name of a Pokemon contained in energy form inside a spherical capturing device attached to his belt. A distinctive sound effect and a bright light would respond to his invocation, as the said Pokemon would return from its energy form and materialize on the ground. The bipedal Pokemon that resembles a young panda would cry loudly, proudly accepting the challenge of the adversary.
"Pancham, respond with Shadow Claw," Dante would command. Pancham would raise his black arm before placing his hand on the ground. A shadow of a claw would then stretch across the ground and reach for the opponent. The shadow would then rise from the ground and attempt to strike the opponent.
The Gastly was unaware of the oncoming attack and was unable to spot it coming. The darkness in which the participants of the battle were contained disallowed for the recognition of the attack that traversed as a shadow and ambushed the unsuspecting wild Pokemon from below. Astounded, she was hit quite hard on the solid portion of her body. The part hit would instantaneously turn into the purple gas which constituted a majority of the biological components of this wild Pokemon. As quickly as the gas scattered, Gastly zoomed about and reconstructed herself. However, she was much weaker now than she was when she initiated the battle.
The trainer was either lucky or astute. He had picked a super effective move with a high critical hit ratio and the damage done to the wild Pokemon was now enough for captivation. However, the Gastly was lucky herself as she was not hit by a critical attack and had managed to restrain herself from fainting. For someone who could not name the move he saw coming and then had the chance to inspect quite closely, Dante had somehow picked the right move to use. Perhaps he chose the maneuver by luck and considering as to how Pancham was a dark type Pokemon, the probability of the selection being a work of Dante's excellence may not be too likely.
Dazed yet agitated, the Gastly retaliated with a longing for vengeance. Hissing and growling, she exhaled loudly for an extended period of time releasing a poisonous gas from her mouth. The gaseous substance was almost identical in color to the one enclosing the solid orb like portion of Gastly. The attack was directed at Pancham and had accelerated vigorously from its initial slow build up. It was the poison type move Smog! It had little chance of poisoning the foe but did a little damage as well. Apparently the ghost type's parents were fond of experimentation as this particular move would not be attained by a Gastly through experience.

OOC: Darkrai, I'm looking for an Eviolite and two Choice Scarves. I was told that the only way for me to obtain these items is to notify whomever moderator is currently handling my role-play topic. Could you please set things in motion, then? Thank you very much.
Your role-playing skill is excellent, by the way. To be honest, your expertise is causing me to feel inferior at times. :)
IC: While the counterattack to the opposition is indeed a successful one, Dante thinks so otherwise. He intended the Shadow Claw to nail a critical hit to finish off the wild Gastly with one such dramatic strike. Dante's overconfidence in himself and in his belief that he is never wrong have always been his everlasting faults. Pancham had this slight feeling of frustration in his heart as well, but the little creature easily swayed the emotion away.
The duo's thoughts were erased as a gaseous substance leaked from the wild Gastly's mouth. To Dante, it looked very identical with a completely different move, "Smokescreen?" But Pancham's knowledge of the skills Pokemon primarily use in battle is much wider to that of Dante's. Even so, this knowledge wasn't enough to save himself from the harmful gas, which enveloped him in no time. Pancham jumped away from the smoke and shook the remains off him. Dante observed his Pokemon's physiology and breathing for any signs of poisoning, but luckily there were none.
Pancham would look up to his trainer and grin to assure his well-being. "Well then, end this irksome encounter with another Shadow Claw," Dante commanded, and Pancham loyally executed the move once again.
Perhaps I shouldn't spoil you by supplying you with all three in this thread. Although it is true that I technically have the authority to provide you with them all at once, I think we're going to have many more threads in the future in which you can attain the other two items. You're in no way inferior, we simply have different styles of roleplay and mine allows for the use of more words and as such seems to be richer in quantity. Compared to some roleplayers I've had the privilege of moderating or playing with, you're decent. Could you check out this thread some time? I think I enjoy writing with you and I am looking to set an example for new roleplayers with the help of the site's decent writers (you qualify) some of whom have agreed to participate. Oggeh imma shadup now and do your post ^^"
Dazed and exhausted, the Gastly once again failed to spot the oncoming attack. She rushed at the assailant only to be stopped in her tracks by the second Shadow Claw. Even if the move did not hit with critical damage, it would have still knocked out the ghost/poison type. However, this time the move connected with a critical hit. The Gastly was struck hard once again and like before, the solid orb seemed to have turned into a gaseous substance. It was super effective, too! As soon as the claw shaped shadow dissipated, the ghost reconstructed herself only to screech in pain and collapse. She had been farmed for experience points once again. She would wake up stronger with more experience in the art of fighting despite being taken out quite mercilessly but for now she remained in an unconscious state. Pancham gained 13 exp!
The trainer was triumphant in his first battle of the night but that Gastly was the least of his troubles. As the purple gaseous substance cleared out, Dante would see the silhouette of a bipedal figure emerging from a distance.
The creature seemed to have a skull for its head and carried a large bone in its hand. Upon closer inspection, Dante would spot the stone like object seemingly fixed onto one end of the bone held by the approaching beast. The Pokemon was a male Cubone and somehow attached onto its bone was an Eviolite! The individual seemed to be weeping as if he had recently lost a loved one. A look of rage in his eyes, he emerged from the shadows and revealed himself in his brown color with a white skull protecting his head and a bone of the same color serving as a weapon to him. Seemingly unaware of the Eviolite attached to the bone, he ignored its presence.
His eyes were fixated on the Pancham who stood a few meters ahead of him. Having heard the battle that had just concluded, he had walked to the area to check what the commotion was all about. His grip on the bone tightened as he stared at the dark type Pokemon. An aggressive individual, he was looking for a fight and the opponent before him seemed worthy. The Cubone looked to a side and screeched vehemently as he moved his head from one side to the other, like a battle cry. The move was indeed Screech, which members of his species learn as an egg move, and Dante had run into a second Pokemon whose parents were fond of experimentation.

OOC: I will keep an eye out for those threads, then. Dante Syndacco loathes that he comes from the Syndacco Crime Family. In the future, he would wage a one-man war on the mob by using Pokemon and, if possible, all manner of conventional war weaponry. Clearly, he would oppose your team.
Nevertheless, there is no mention of this goal anywhere in his profile. I intended Dante to play the role of The Punisher, but when I saw these loopholes over his profile along with other several mistakes and a few contradictions, it was too late. Hopefully I will get the chance to correct that some time. And, because of that, I can't make Dante's goal 'officially'. Which means, there is a probability of him joining your team. If that happens, the only logical role Dante could play would be the snake, the traitor, the Judas.
I would like to hear your thoughts, Darkrai. :)
IC: "Impressive," Dante congratulated their own victory over the supernatural entity. There was no response from Pancham, which was very odd. Pancham habitually cries proudly as he wallows in the taste of victory. Dante looked down and was surprised to see Pancham sprawled on the ground, motionless.
A number of questions and theories raced through his mind. Clearly, Pancham was not poisoned and even if he was, he would not allow himself to shamefully collapse like this. Dante squatted down and poked the little victor, "Pancham?" He observed the Pokemon's belly, hoping to see a clear indication of breathing, but there was none. Dante rolled Pancham over so that he faced him, and that was when Pancham opened his eyes with a big, trollish smile.
Dante sighed, the little imp got him again with his pranks. Pancham jumped up and rejoiced in the success of his prank. "Would you please give it a rest," Dante complained in annoyance while at the same time comforted that his friend is well. The little Pancham apologized like a child and promised that he will never prank anyone again, a line that he has used whomever supreme creator knows how many times.
The approaching figure caught the attention of Dante's eyes. He couldn't make out what it is because of the distance and darkness, but he could see a skull where the creature's head is supposed to be. The skull has two rounded horns on the top of its head and a tooth-like point on the lower sides. The creature also wields a solid object. There is only one Pokemon with such an appearance and that would be a Cubone.
Pancham noticed that his trainer was looking at something else and so he looked, too. He saw and identified the creature as a Cubone, too. He readied himself upon noticing that the wild Cubone's head is faced particularly at him, and not his trainer. "Hostile," Dante whispered.
The wild Cubone let out a wild cry, clearly showing its malicious and threatening intents. "I've heard positive reviews about this Pokemon before. He would make a fine ally. Hold this position," Dante whispered to Pancham.
He would stand up and approach the Pokemon with caution. Pancham would watch carefully, ready to intervene when necessary. "What do you want," Dante would address the bipedal Pokemon, quite straightforward.
ooc: Whatever role you choose to play, and whether or not you choose to participate in the first place is entirely your decision. Waging a one man war against the team may not be the best idea but you are welcome to. Also, you are welcome to join us (and betray us afterwards if you want to.) The next thread is the first meeting, tell me if you want in ^^ /// The battle cry was the move Screech aimed at Pancham btw !
The Cubone was lamenting a recent loss and as such was in an agitated state of mind. As Dante approached, he would notice how the white skull on the wild Pokemon's head like a helmet and the bone shaped weapon in his hand was stained with fresh blood. Did this adolescent Pokemon shed blood recently..? Perhaps the trainer would know if he was familiar with the back story of all Cubone. The bones themselves seemed raw and recently carved out somehow. He had been wandering aimlessly for a long time, traumatized by a recent transpiration he had witnessed. As inexperienced as the Cubone previously had been, the Pokemon had bruises on himself and huffed and panted under his breath expressing his exhaustion providing evidence to the fact that he had recently engaged in multiple battles.
However, the obvious bloodthirstiness in his eyes was not satisfied by the numerous weak Pokemon he had effortlessly knocked out during his long walk to the area from Dark Cave. His past and background is perhaps not that important or relevant to the trainer who wished to add the wild Pokemon to his arsenal but the narrator had to write more about the adversary who aspired to challenge the tough Pancham to battle in an effort to take out his frustration on him in order to compete with the filler provided by the troll that is Pancham.
This particular Cubone would indeed make an interesting addition to Dante's Pokemon party. The bloodthirsty beast blatantly ignored his own exhaustion and soon seemed unaffected by it. Of course, he could not yet comprehend the words coming out of Dante's mouth which quite rudely questioned his desires which he himself did not completely understand. He was confused and had found himself amid complete perturbation as he did not have any purpose and had inherited nothing from his deceased mother.
Dante was correct in determining him to be hostile. He saw the approaching trainer as a threat to him even though he only wanted to battle the Pancham. Although he was quite vulnerable, he was belligerent as well. As soon as the trainer reached close enough, Cubone reacted defensively. In an attempt to warn off the trainer and prepare himself for battle simultaneously, he used a move to motivate himself for battle.
The eye sockets on the skull he wore which initially appeared pitch black in the dark surrounding suddenly lit up with an orange color. The lights shot out of the sockets making it look like torches were attached underneath them. The Cubone then roared with all his might once again as a similar orange luminescent energy emanated from his mouth as well. This was followed by a strong aura of the same color manifesting itself out of thin air around the Cubone moving upwards cracking the surface beneath his feet in an intimidating display. It was the move Focus Energy!
The Cubone's eyes ignored the presence of Dante and were fixated on the Pancham who stood further away. He had made up his mind and had decided to fight the Pancham primarily because the bear like Pokemon was foreign to the environment and he had not seen such a Pokemon during his long walk. Furthermore this Pokemon looked far more intimidating than the numerous worms, birds, and rats he had that chance of engaging in battle so far. Of course he was intrigued by the human who spoke but he had seen the Pancham's battle with the wild Gastly and was assured of the bear's capabilities.
The ground type Pokemon was without doubt younger than the Pancham but his apparent battling spree had seasoned him quite well and should his challenge be accepted he would prove to be a tough opponent despite the lack of a trainer to command him. If anything, Dante's experience as a trainer is what would assure his victory. Should his moral values allow for it, using both his Pokemon against the Cubone would allow for a less tedious triumph. If his objective was to capture the beast as it would seem, his task might be a lot easier than if he intended to subdue or incapacitate the wild Pokemon. Either way, the Cubone was not going to let the trainer, the Pancham, or a second opponent scare him or cause him to consider the option of retreating.

OOC: Could we overlook the misunderstanding over the Screech part, but nonetheless have Pancham's defense sharply lowered? Also, I like how crafty you broke the fourth wall. :)
IC: As Dante got closer to the Pokemon, a tinny, metallic - slightly sour smell drifted up his nostrils. The smell of blood stank off this battered wild Pokemon and the aftermath of, possibly, a fight or struggle is evident in the wild Cubone's body. Dante would have blabbered a comment regarding the odor, and a shade of his antagonistic trait would have come into play in the wrongest of timing, but thankfully, the self-advantageous move the wild Cubone performed saved him from a possible demise.
The disturbance and great trouble Pancham felt when the wild Cubone's eyes lit up was physically evident. He felt slightly comforted after having witnessed that it was nothing but a non-damaging move. Although a slight feeling of stupidity and regret loomed over him. What if that was an attack, what then would have happened to his trainer?
"Have you learned to do what is necessary," Dante would speak. "You were told there was nothing out there, nothing to fear. But the night your mother was murdered you caught a glimpse of something. You've looked for it ever since. You went around the world, searched in all the shadows. And there is something out there in the darkness, something terrifying, something that will not stop until it gets revenge... You," Dante would pause. "Join us, and we will lead you towards retribution, young friend. Together, we will bathe the streets with the blood of the black-clad nuts who murdered your mother in cold blood," Dante would add.
Dante knows well the sad tale of a Cubone. All Cubone had their mother slayed in front of them. Such a dark repetitive event must be a product of Arceus' disturbing, morbid sense of humor, or whomever cosmic deity's will. Whatever is the truth behind that mystery, it's of lesser importance compared to Dante using the story to manipulate the wild Cubone.
The Cubone couldn't comprehend Dante's speech for he was not yet familiarized with human language. Was he making a peace offering..? Was the Cubone's innate desire to fight not apparent enough for this trainer? The entire speech given to the Cubone in an attempt at his manipulation was futile. If Dante wanted to make the wild Pokemon join his team, he was going to have to do it by force. The Cubone might as well be offended by the lack of respect shown to him. This trainer was definitely an amateur in the eyes of this particular Pokemon even though the wild beast did not know much about Pokemon trainers. If he did, he would have called Dante and amateur who is worthless and undeserving of this magnificent addition to his team.
Distrustful the approaching trainer, the wild Pokemon leaped at Dante! Empowered by the Focus Energy, he grabbed his bone (xD) mid air and swung it frantically at the trainer. It was the ground type move Bone Rush which was also a signature move unique to its kind! Although he intended to fight the Pancham, the trainer had to be prioritized as he approached. Whether or not Dante's Pokemon attempts to protect him, the big sturdy bone was aimed directly at the trainer and the focus energy enhanced beast was determined to repel the trainer.
ooc: no problem. sorry about this post, wasn't feeling it with this one :v
