Towering Heights! (MOD)

Geo shifted some of his long, black hair out of his blue eyes as he looked around, taking in the sights of Violet City. The sun was high in the sky, and ever since arriving, the people have been cheery and welcoming, which was refreshing since the usually competitive air of Blackthorn City. He passed by the Pokemon Center, but had no need of it right now, since his pokemon was fully charged and ready for battle. In fact...

"Hey, Jet, come on out!"

The young boy, now revealed to be a pokemon trainer, plucked a single pokeball off of his belt and clicked the button in the center, enlarging it. He then tossed it into the air, grinning as it opened up to a flash of bright light, which formed into a golden Charmander that stood at his feet. Geo caught the ball and then picked Jet up, placing him on his shoulder.

"Stretch your legs out, friend, we're gonna check this city out today!"

Geo looked towards the precariously swaying Bellsprout Tower, hearing the shouts of trainers battling it out with their pokemon, and knew that that was a perfect place to begin his own training with Jet. He knew that the fire-type pokemon would have the advantage in a place called the "Bellsprout" Tower, but who knew, maybe he would be able to get a good challenge from these sages. He stretched out and then took off running, across the bridge his reflection on the water mimicking his contained excitement.

"Jet, this will be the first time I've battled with you as my partner! Are you excited?" To be honest, this was his first battle period. He had never had any formal pokemon training before, mostly because he's never had a pokemon before. That didn't stop him from trying by doing, however. As he burst through the doors, he noticed that the first floor wasn't part of the battling area, as people were casually walking around, so he climbed up the ladder on the far corner of the room, poking his head out from the opening in the second floor.

"Anyone here? I came to challenge the Tower!"

Geo was taken by surprise by the sudden appearance of a Rattata, one that appeared to be on fire, running towards him! Jet was quick to take action, though, his golden body glimmering in the light of the fire, his own tail flame bursting outwards. He took a solid stance in front of the ladder opening as Geo scrambled up, and then growled as loud as he could, creating nearly visible sound waves from his maw. Once Geo got his wits together, he called out a move he had recently seen Jet use, "Dragon Claw, let's go!"

Jet spread his arms out to his sides and concentrated, and soon enough, his claws burst out with a greenish-purple swirling energy that formed into claws twice the size of his own. He then dashed towards the flaming rattata and swung his claws at its head, attempting to stop it while causing damage.

Geo stared at the Rattata with a look of disbelief, There's no way that this Rattata is simply a wild pokemon...it's way too strong! Maybe it was trained by someone and then released? Jet couldn't stop the Revenge attack, as Geo had been pondering for too long, and was sent rolling along the wooden floor. Now Geo understood why the tower was always creaking, as the sound of the rattling wood echoed through the room. "Sorry, Jet! Alright, let's go for a ranged attack! Use Ember!" Jet shook off the fatigue and stood, then swung its tail towards Rattata with a flourish, sending a blast of hot embers towards it.

Geo watched as the wood nearly burned, and made a note not to use too many fire moves unnecessarily. He didn't want to burn the whole place down! "Jet, use Smokescreen, and disappear!" Jet nodded at him, then aimed down at his feet and shot large clouds of black smoke from his maw, covering the battlefield, not including where Geo was standing. The Charmander moved within it quickly, not staying still, but keeping tabs on where the Rattata was. "Alright, now use Scratch!" They had practiced this before, using Smokescreen as a getaway device for when they needed it, but this was the first time using it in battle. Jet launched himself at Rattata's back and scratched at him with his tiny, yet dangerously sharp, claws.

Geo grinned as the smokescreen tactic worked out extremely well for the two, and as the smoke cleared, he noticed Rattata on its rump next to a pillar, possibly having run into it in the confusion. Jet noticed that as well, and jumped back in front of Geo, waiting for the next move. Geo thought that it might be useful to have such a speedy and powerful pokemon on his side, and reached into his bag to grab a pokeball. "Go, Pokeball!!" He tossed it with the skill of an amateur, straight on target, but with speed.

Geo tensed up as the ball shook three times, before the red light faded away, and a small smile crept onto his face. Jet likewise grinned, his white fangs glinting. "YEAH! We caught a Rattata!" Geo confidently strode up to the ball and picked it up, then thrust it into the air in a victory pose, "Alright, that's our first pokemon catch! Jet, let's keep going!" Geo pocketed the ball and began to run along the wooden planks, looking for the next challenge as Jet rushed to keep up.

Geo screeched to a stop, feeling the excitement leave him as he came across a group of praying monks. He hadn't expected something like this in the Bellsprout Tower, but he knew of their sages, so it might have made sense to expect a ritual like this. In any case, the boy muttered shyly, "S-sorry...I didn't mean to disturb you..." Then he noticed that the sage indeed had pokemon, indicated by the pokeball that released a Bellsprout!

Reaching into his pocket, Geo pointed Jet's pokeball at his partner and returned him. "You need a rest, it's time to try out the new guy!" He pocketed Jet's ball and pulled out the Rattata's, throwing him out while simultaneously giving him his nickname, "Come on out, Fangs!" The small, yet feisty Rattata spun in the air once before landing, his tail and ears rigid with excitement. Geo was about to issue an attack, before he realized he didn't know any of Fangs's moves! His face showed his dumbfounded expression, and he quickly pulled out a pokedex, scanning Fangs and checking his moveset. "J-just give me a moment..."

Geo shot a glare at the elder as he referred to Fangs as a "pest". He was angry, but he was still reserved enough not to let it get to his head. He simply gave a grin and shut the pokedex with one hand, "Alright, then, if you think he's such a pest..." His eyes glinted and sparked with a contained fire, "Then let's see you beat him yourself! Fangs, start off with a Screech!" The rattata let himself get hit by the vine whip, getting knocked into the air, and rolled to avoid taking unnecessary damage from the fall to the ground.

Fangs shook off the pain from that attack, and let out an ear-piercing screech while Geo covered his own ears. Geo still smiled, even though the noise hurt his ears, and when it was over, he called out, "Alright, now take that damage and hit back with even more force using Revenge!!" Fangs became covered in a light purple aura as he dashed forwards, attempting to ram the Bellsprout, going with a bit more force than was necessary due to its ability, making the attack more wild.

"Uh oh, dodge it with Quick Attack, then use it to hit Bellsprout!" Geo was worried for Fangs's health, but he did need to win this fight with him to prove his point. As long as that thing couldn't use endure while the final hit was delivered, then everything would go fine. Fangs became covered in a light white aura and sidestepped out of the way, letting the Weather Ball hit the ground where he once stood. Then he dashed towards Bellsprout in a wild and random pattern of movement, attempting to smash into it. Geo thrust his fist into the air, cheering, "Yeah, that's the way, Fangs! Don't let up!" Fangs skidded to a stop, then dashed at Bellsprout again, attempting to get a quick return strike in surprise.

Fangs was able to keep out of the way of the Weather Ball, dodging it from his random movements alone. He had a wicked grin that showed off his large teeth well(as if they couldn't be seen anyways), as he bobbed and weaved through the Vine Whip. "Fangs, burn through the vines with Flame Wheel!" Geo knew that fire was strong against grass types, and as Fangs rapidly spun like a wheel, flames engulfing his body, he would let the vines touch him as he rocketed forwards towards the Bellsprout.

Geo cheered as Fangs landed back in front of him after bouncing off of the Bellsprout's body, "Woo! Take that! Nice job, Fangs!" The little Rattata turned and smiled at Geo, a grin so big that it made his eyes close. As the next Bellsprout was sent out, Fangs instinctively jumped out of the way of the weather ball attack, and Geo had to back up a little to avoid taking the hit. "Fangs, careful! You almost got me hit just then! Use Flame Wheel again!" Fangs apologetically scratched the back of his head, then began spinning, covering himself in flames and shooting towards the Bellsprout.

Fangs careened towards the wall behind Bellsprout, but was able to put the flames out before crashing into it. The poor rat pokemon stumbled a couple of steps backwards, dizzy, and was easily able to be hit with the Weather ball. As he was sent flying, Geo instinctively ran to where the pokemon would fall, catching him and taking the Vine Whips for it, "Aagh! Fangs...you ok?" Fangs looked terribly beaten, but he looked up appreciatively to Geo, nodding his head weakly. "Good. That was a great fight, but you were already hurt, and I shouldn't have battled with you yet. I'm sorry." The trainer pulled out the Rattata's pokeball and returned it, placing it on his belt.

The young trainer then turned to the sage, pulling out Jet's pokeball from next to Fangs's. "Jet, come on out! Use Ember, then Dragon Claw!" As he said this, he tossed the pokeball into the air, releasing a tiny golden salamander, with a brilliant orange flame on the tip of its tail. It faced the Bellsprout, and in midair, swung its body to send a cloud of burning embers towards it. Then it angled itself to fall rapidly at the sprout pokemon, its claws becoming encased in swirling mystic energy that took the shape of claws, and swinging them at it.
