PostSubject: After a long journey, it's time to... Train!!   After a long journey, it's time to... Train!! H6Q0F8zMon Apr 14, 2014 2:23 pm

Meriana walked into Pewter city, exhausted after walking here from Fuchsia. It had taken her several days, and despite having met pokemon on the way, she had decided not to catch any. She would get her first gym badge here, and so her journey truly began here. She had made sure that it was night time when she got here, and so very few people were on the streets. In fact, there was not a soul in sight. This suited Meriana perfectly. No people, no panic attacks. The gym was not open at this time though, and she doubted that she would do well against it anyway. Noibat was a flying type, which would get thoroughly smashed by Brock's rock types. Studying her map, Meriana noticed a forest that was south of this town. Tracing under it with her finger, Meriana said it's name "V-viridian Forest" She stuttered lightly over the first word, a habit that she had noticed becoming more prevalent. A forest meant nature, and nature meant grass types and comfort. Setting off, Meriana walked out of the south gate of Pewter City and into the forest, unsure of what to expect.

Soon after she entered the forest a series of eyes lit up around her not in an unfriendly way mainly parent pokemon protecting their young. Eventually a pokemon strolled out onto the pathway and it was an Oddish (Female - lvl 9) it slowly walked up to them and looked into Meriana's eyes smiling it was a friendly pokemon that wasn't gonna attack unless of course it was attacked by her.

Meriana looked down at the pokemon. It had the funny ball shape of all oddish, and the adorable tuft of grass hair that they had. The way that it looked at her did nothing to promote aggression, and so Meriana approached it slowly, with her hands out. "Hey there little oddish. Are you okay?" She said in a soft tone. She had so far failed to notice the eyes around her.

Oddish continued to smile at the trainer as, she was picked up
"Oddish.. Odd"
Oddish beamed happily giggling it was sort of childish for it's age but it was just one of those things that she didn't mind trainers she'd seen a few before but, this particular trainer she was drawn to. She nuzzled up against Meriana repeating her name multiple times in reply to Meriana's comment making how happy she was known in fact she was overjoyed at the kindness of this trainer that had just came along.

Meriana pulled the pokemon in close to her jacket. She realized that the pokemon seemed quite happy to be with her, and suddenly an idea came to mind. Gently she placed the oddish down and pulled out a pokeball from her bag. "How would you like to come with me on an adventure? It'll be lots of fun" She promised. She smiled at the oddish and held the pokeball out, hoping that she would soon have a brand new friend. Pokemon sure were easier to talk to than humans. Not only did this oddish seem friendly, but it also would give her a good type advantage over Brocks pokemon in her upcoming gym battle.

Oddish looked to her, her eyes widening at the pokeball before she giggled and leapt at it, hitting the button and being absorbed into the pokeball as it was a voluntary capture the pokeball didn't even wobble it just made a *Ping* noise to indicate the capture.

*You have caught an Oddish would you like to give her a nickname?*

Meriana watched as the pokemon seemed to capture itself. The happy-go-lucky grass type was now hers, and she had to think of a cute name. After a moment, Meriana jumped to her feet and put the pokeball next to her mouth. "You've got a tuft of grass hair! So I'm going to call you Tuft!" She said excitingly into the pokeball. For a moment she wondered what to do, then decided. Barely fifteen minutes had passed since she had gotten into the forest, and so it would be a good idea to go in deeper. She set off at a leisurely pace, listening intently for the noises of a pokemon, or a human.

When she got a bit deeper in a Lotad (Male - lvl 8) appeared from a pond and looked at her arching his eyebrows, he waited to see what she would do preparing an Energy Ball just in case Meriana was hostile.

(In case you're wondering about the energy ball, all will be explained it good time)

Out of the corner of her eye, Meriana saw the pokemon emerge from the pond. What was interesting however, was the green ball floating above its head. Meriana could not name the move, but it was rather obvious that it was an attack of some kind. Of course, Meriana chose this specific time to completely misread the pokemon's intentions. After all, it was readying an attack. What else would one expect someone prone to worrying over things to do but ? And so, without a moments hesitation Meriana grabbed the pokeball that she knew to be Bitty's out of her bag, clicked the centre button, and threw the ball into the air. A flash of bright red light emerged from the pokeball, signifying that her first pokemon had been let out of it's container. The small bat pokemon flew in circles for a second enjoying its freedom, then turned it's attention to the current threat. "Noibat! Use screech, and we may be able to cause it to stop focusing on that attack!" Yelled Meriana. No longer was she shy, anxious or scared. This was battle, and in battle she was a commander and a warrior.

The Lotad saw the girl throw out the pokeball and when she did he immediately let loose the attack before Noibat could use Screech, the energy ball flying at Noibat and Lotad getting low soundproofing himself with the lily-pad on his back he then prepared to defend against any follow up attacks waiting to see whether or not the Energy ball hit Noibat.

"Bitty! Drop low to dodge that attack, then fly high so that you can see attacks coming! Meriana yelled to her pokemon. It squeaked a squeak that probably translated to something like "I understand." Of course, it could have also have translated to "stop telling me what to do" but given the fact that Noibat obeyed immediately, that was unlikely. Lotad was submerged in water, which most likely meant that the pokemon believed that it would be safe from sound there. What it didn't seem to understand though, was that sound is in actuality a vibration that travels through water much faster than it does through air. Meriana, being quite an intelligent person, understood these principles of sound and decided to use it to her advantage. [color:d59a=9933ff]"Okay, Bitty! I want you to fly down to the pond, but make sure to do it in a spiral pattern to minimize your chances of getting hit! When you get there, I want you to use supersonic right on the water, as close as you can get! The vibrations will surround it, so if it does jump out of the water to escape the vibrations use aerial ace on it right away!" Meriana hoped she had covered all of the escapes. The vibrations should (according to the laws of physics) travel through the water at a speed of something around 1500 meters per second, assuming that the water was fresh. This would give the Lotad little to no room to escape. And should it somehow manage to escape, Bitty would attempt to nail it with an aerial ace.

Lotad was unaware of what was going on around it but, it didn't like it as it surfaced to check what was happening the Supersonic attack struck causing Lotad to suddenly become confused and start attacking itself. Due to this it took quite a bit of damage and was beginning to get quite weak. Luckily despite it's confused state it was still able to launch one accurate Energy Ball attack but, it wasn't too powerful as, he was too weak to do any major damage.

Excitedly, Meriana jumped up and down as she saw her plan be executed without a hitch. "That was perfect Bitty!" She yelled out to her pokemon. However, in the brief second that she had said that, the Lotad had managed to ready and fire an energy ball. The somewhat weakened energy ball managed to hit her pokemon, and while the impact was obviously felt it did no major damage. "Shrug it off Bitty! Use aerial ace, and maybe we can knock it out now!" Meriana yelled to her pokemon.

Lotad moved to try and dodge it but it was too late as, he was struck and sent flying backwards into a tree. When he fell to the ground you could clearly see that he had fainted.

*You have just defeated Lotad, Bitty gains 8 exp, Bitty has gained a level and is now level 9*

Meriana cheered as she saw the other pokemon got knocked out, and watched as she saw her's fly back to her. "Well done Bitty!" She yelled to the small bat pokemon, as it landed on her shoulder. Bitty had levelled up as well, which meant he would be just that little bit more powerful. And every little bit is important, no matter what it is. There were still many hours left in the night, and so Meriana started to head deeper into Viridian Forest, wondering what she would find.

As they ventured further into the forest more eyes lit up watching for the safety of their children when suddenly a Mime Jr (Male - lvl 10) pirouetted out onto the pathway, oblivious to Meriana and Bitty's presence there.

Meriana stepped back in slight surprise as the pokemon crossed her path. It obviously meant no harm, and so to attack it would be meaningless. Instead, she patiently waited in one spot and watched to see what the pokemon would do. It was now that she noticed the large amount of lit up eyes around her, however she chose to ignore them as they were most likely only pokemon.

The Mime Jr continued pirouetting for a minute before, stopping and noticing Meriana. He then made his way over and mimicked her standing posture standing next to her and laughing.

Meriana giggled at the actions of this small pokemon. She was curious as to what it was, and hoped that she might be able to catch it. She had never seen it before though, and so she took the pokedex that her father had given her out of her bag. He himself had obtained it from a professor in the far-off Kalos reason when he was a child. His name was something like Professor Sick- Sict- Stickmore. That was it, his name was Prof. Stickmore. Meriana was sure of it. She lifted the data-gathering device to eye-level and pointed it at the small pokemon, pressing the button that would give her information on it.

Her pokedex came to life immediately saying
"Mime Jr. The Mime Pokemon and the pre-evolved form of Mr Mime, In an attempt to confuse its enemy, it mimics the enemy’s movements. Then it wastes no time in making itself scarce!"
Mime Jr. giggled at the sound of the Pokedex mimicking it all the way when it spoke before twirling and making himself dizzy at which point he fell over.

Meriana acknowledged what the pokedex said and put it back into her bag. Given that the small pokemon had two legs, two feet, and a noticeable lack of wings, it was unlikely that it would be able to fly. And so, the pokemon that would be best suited in a battle with it would be Noibat. If it kept to the air, it would likely make it more difficult for the Mime Jr. to mimic the pokemon's actions. However, before a battle was initiated it would be a good idea to attempt to talk to the pokemon and convince it to join her of it's own accord. And so, Meriana got down on one knee and looked at the pokemon, who was still a few meters away from her, and said to it "Hey there little guy. Would you like to come on an adventure?"

Mime Jr. looked at her curiously, considering it. Mime Jr. then sat down seemingly unconvinced to leave his home though he felt in the mood to let her try and convince him to travel as, he knew if he did he might have a better chance of growing and evolving.

The small pokemon obviously needed some more convincing. She thought over and carefully planned her words for a second, and then said in an unusually confident tone "Think of the adventures we could have. It will be so much fun! We'll all grow stronger. You, Me, Bitty and Tuft, all together. And it won't be just us. We'll meet so many more Pokemon friends!" She said, slightly louder than she meant to. She let Tuft out of it's pokeball. "Odd- Oddish!" It said, which hopefully meant something encouraging. Meriana held out a pokeball to the Mime Jr., hoping that she had convinced it.

Mime Jr. shrugged as, though it thought why not and approached her and the pokeball pressing the button and being absorbed in the form of energy into it. The pokeball wobbled once before stopping showing the capture as, the capture was voluntary.

*Congratulations you've just caught a Mime Jr. would you like to give it a nickname?*

"Well, you are the mime pokemon. And mimes tend to come from the circus, otherwise know as the big top. So I'll call you top!" She said into the pokemons poke ball. Little more than two hours had passed, and so she decided to set off further into the forest. She most likely wouldn't catch any more pokemon unless something very interesting appeared, but at most she was hoping for some training and an interesting encounter.
