Mercury starts getting serious

Mercury saw the announcement, and wanted to start training Spheal immediately. She quickly ran out into the training field outside the pokemon center, and threw her pokeball. C'mon out, Spheal! She said, bright light revealed her pokemon, Spheal. We're gonna start training Spheal. We have to get ready for the first gym as soon as we can! Mercury said. The winds were blowing quite strong, which gave Mercurfy an idea. Spheal, use powder snow on that tree! She said, the wind would provide a good resistance and keep the attack from hitting the tree if it wasn't strong enough. Spheal jumped up from excitement, and made the move. Spheal blew an icy attack from its mouth, trying to hit the tree which stood a few meters away. The wind however blew the attack away before it reached the tree. Spheal was disappointed at the failed attempt to hit the tree, but Mercury wouldn't give up. They had to train hard if they wanted to beat the first gym. Mercury also knew that she needed more pokemon, but she was going to focus on Spheal for now. We can do this Spheal! Try again, keep going until you reach the tree. Mercury said. Spheal eal! Said the Spheal with excitement. It looked at the tree, and focused hard on the attack, suddenly it blew out the powder snow, blowing with all it has. But the attack was still too weak to reach the tree, but progress was made. That's it Spheal! You almost got it! Mercury said to her pokemon. Spheal nodded, and tried again. She practiced over and over, making little progress. Soon she was tired, and frustrated at not being able to hit the tree yet, but she came very close the last time she used powder snow. Its ok Spheal, we can rest if you want? We can always come back tomorrow. Said Mercury, but Spheal was determined to hit the tree, she didn't want to let Mercury down and right now it seems to her as if she did, but Mercury understands the limits of pokemon and that they need time to increase their power. She was proud that Spheal got close to hitting the tree with the attack. Spheal shaked its head in disagreement to Mercury, she wanted to hit the tree no matter what, and make Mercury proud. Spheal turned back to the tree, and looked at it seriously, she took a breath and exhaled, releasing the powder snow attack, she kept exhaling, blowing more and more snow. The snow traveled further and further, Mercury's eyes widened as it came close to the tree, and finally it hit the tree, covering half of it in snow. Yes Spheal! That's it you did it! Mercury said with excitement, she ran over to Spheal, and picked it up and hugged it tight. We are going to win the first gym badge in no time, Spheal. She said. Spheal laid in Mercury's arms from exhaustion.

A wild Chatot appeared!

A wild Chatot flew from the tree that Spheal was training against, Mercury got excited, she had to catch it fast so they could have another member on the team. Spheal, use Ice Ball! Mercury said quickly, deciding it was time to test out a new move. Spheal charged energy into a sphere of ice, and launched it at the Chatot. Mercury readied her pokeball for the catch.

Mercury didn't like that the Chatot copied her, and got angry at it. Use water gun, Spheal! Said Mercury with some anger towards the Chatot. Spheal quickly shot a blast of water from its mouth, aimed at the Chatot

The Chatot got up from the hit, and counter attacked with a peck. Dodge it! Mercury says to Spheal, but Spheal couldn't move out of the way fast enough and was hit. Use hail quickly. Said Mercury, Spheal then acted accordingly and hail stared to fall from the sky. Spheal's ability ice body also kicked in, and it started healing the effects of the peck, as well as hurting the Chatot with the hail.

Mercury decided that she shouldn't capture this pokemon, it fainted to fast and she needed a strong team, so she had to attack it until it fainted. Spheal, use water gun again. She said, Spheal then quickly blasted the water gun attack at the chatot

The chatot fainted! Spheal got 5 exp!

Mercury decided she needed to find a stronger pokemon than the Chatot, she started walking around and searching for more pokemon. Suddenly she heard a bush move, and a(n) ______ jumped out of it.

Mercury held the pokeball in her hand from before, and told Spheal to attack; Use powder snow! Spheal then blew the powder snow from its mouth aimed at the Lilipup

Lilipup got hit! Not majorly damaged, it quickly recovered and used Leer at Spheal!

Spheal's defense dropped from the Leer. Spheal use Ice Ball! Said Mercury. Spheal then rolled at the Lilipup using Ice Ball.

Bump...

Lilipup avoided the attack! Lilipup used tackle!

The attack had landed. Use hail again Spheal! Said Mercury. Spheal then quickly used hail. Her ability kicked in as well, and started healing the tackle's effects

Spheal's defense dropped again. The damage still being repaired by the continuing hail, Mercury made the next move. Spheal, try Ice Ball again! Mercury said. Spheal nodded and started rolling in a ball form towards the Lillipup. It seemed agitated and Mercury liked it, she would definitely try and catch this pokemon.

Mercury saw the pokemon was weak, and decided it was time to try and catch the pokemon! She threw the pokeball at the Lilipup, and waited to see if it would be caught.

Mercury got scared, she knew Spheal couldn't take on all these Lilipup. She held Spheal's pokeball out towards Spheal, and a read beam sucked her back in. Thank you Spheal. She says. She walked over to the Lilipup, and spoke to them. I'm sorry for taking your friend and hurting it. she said with a sincere tone to her voice. Can you please forgive me? I promise to take good care of it. I love all pokemon and I need your friend to help me win the gym battles.
