Luke "Arcainine" Phantom

Luke wasn't born the normal way; by that, I mean he was born the way in which normal humans are: by a father and mother. He was made through science, a little biochemistry of DNA and other hereditary things (I don't want to get into). The project was funded by a private company, and, since then, it has remained such a way. He was created to be the bridge between Pokemon and humans. You see, scientists were obsessed with finding out how to make Pokemon and trainers more compatible; there was no real, deeper motivation than that. There was little dispute about the manipulation of DNA and how it was against natural oder because they saw it as the only way to obtain the desired result.

Luke was a mixture of human and Arcanine DNA. At one point he was unstable, as his heart would beat too quickly or too slowly, or his temperature would be exceedingly high or low. Once he was stabilized, he was allowed to come from the pod that kept him alive. They began to teach him things, such as words, motor functions, and how to handle Pokemon and treat them with respect, and he learned these things kinda quickly. The head scientist, Borak, frowned upon the person that Luke imprinted on; he was the person who spent time to teach him what he needed to live in the outside society, not Torak. Borak tried several times to influence Luke, all of which lead to failure.

When the scientists brought him into publicity, they had him hide his ears and tail through a cloak with a hood attached. He was confused at first, as he thought that the world was all metal, lights, knobs, switches and other mysteries, but he realized that the world was not as he had been taught; it wasn't kind and friendly; it was unforgiving and cruel. He realized this fact when he saw a Pokemon, in particular, a growlithe in desperate need of a Pokemon center. Everyone was ignoring the growlithe.

Luke persuaded the scientists to take the Pokemon to the Pokemon center, and from there, it was given to some guy called Oak. Oak said that it was one of his Pokemon who managed to escape, as well as that he had a younger brother. He said they were in desperate need of a trainer, Luke unable to forget that little Pokemon on the sidewalk all beaten up with everyone ignoring it. He couldn't forget it because he could hear the cries for help, could feel the Pokemon's pain, and could feel its agony. By the time that the lab closed for good due to a lack of research funding by the company, he was 16; he was old enough to start his Pokemon journey.

Luke, before the closing of the facility, was told to go to Professor Oak, of whom gave him his first two Pokemon. Both were growlithes. Oak smiled, as even through his cloak, the professor could recognize Luke as the little kid who helped out the growlith. The two growlithes were still there, and now they belonged to Luke. Oak spoke to Luke before he left that he, "should not be ashamed of who and what you are; others may knock you down, but don't bow down; stand tall and give them a reason to treat you with respect." Luke had felt better, empowered by Oak's words on his way out of the door. He shoved his hooded cloak into his bag, starting his journey proud of what, and who, he was; however, he still uses the cloak in some cases. He was never told the reason why he was created, or that he was even created by science, but it didn't matter to him as he held pride and is now determined to show others what respect he deserves.
