Carl rushed to Jubilife City. Once his brother had suggested a Pokemon battle, Carl made up an excuse ran off. He didn't really feel like embarrassing himself in front of his brother and he detested Pokemon battles. Pokemon are tools, and when they battled, people treated them like play things. Not to mention he knew nearly nothing about Pokemon or Pokemon battles; he didn't even know what that Spinda could do... what was it's name again? Naps...? Traps...?

Occasionally, a Pidgey or Bidoof would try and block his path, but he just ran away or tossed small stones and rocks in their direction. Carl's heart lifted as he passed through Sandgem town and Jubilife City came into view. All Carl needed to do was snag a few badges from some of the different gyms around the region and he wouldn't have to worry about Pokemon ever again. It shouldn't take too long, thought Carl, there were only eight he had to get. However, when he was just outside of Jubilife City, Carl was greeted by a bright, rainbow colored Pidgey that began having a conversation with itself. Of course, Carl didn't realize it was a Chatot, as he had never heard of or seen a Chatot before. Carl had seen less than thirty different Pokemon in his life, and could only name about twelve of them. Carl freaked out and backed away from the creature, when suddenly...

(MOD: Let me know if I did something wrong here/ overstepped my boundaries as a non-mod or something like that. Also I would prefer if the Pokemon encountered were primarily generations one through four. However, I wouldn't mind seeing a gen five or six popping up every once in a while. Thanks! :D)

When suddenly from the bushes behind the pokemon trainer shot out a yellow orb like creature whose bounce seemed to not be effected by gravity, it moved forward while at the same time moving up and down. Strange right? Anyway this Chingling was in a mood, it was not happy, some idiot had disrupted its sleep by being to noisy. To be honest this Chingling didn't know what it was talking about but a mood is a mood. The chingling would glow blue before the chatot was blown away from the powerful confusion attack.

Realizing that the creature was too fast to run from, Carl reached down for a rock or stick to throw at the Chingling. Unfortunately there is nothing that could be used as a projectile in the area. Carl realizes that he will have to engage in a Pokemon battle. He sighs and reaches into his pocket for the Pokeball. Within seconds Spinda is out, filled with energy and anticipation, ready to battle.

Carl opens his mouth to give commands to the Spinda, but he isn't sure what to say,"... erm.... Snaps... no... Claps use... whatever... erm... yeah...attack... yes..."

Thankfully Claps was intelligent enough to realize how clueless poor Carl was. Spinda sprang into a tackle, however, the brief delay costs Claps precious seconds, which may or may not be significant...

It would seem the angry chingling had come across a rather new trainer who couldn't even remember the name of his own pokemon. The chinglings confusion by this forced it to take the tackle attack head on and it bounced backwards. The bouncing chingling would gather itself and release a growl to lower the attack of the Spinda, the chingling would then act out another confusion as a burst of psy based energy shot forth towards the Spinda.

Carl grabbed his pokedex, seeing if he could use it to learn what moves Claps could use.

In the mean time, Claps is hit by the confusion, but quickly recovers. He realizes that Carl has absolutely no clue what to do, so he goes for another tackle.

The spinda would connect with the tackle, it seemed it was doing a better job without the trainer. The chingling would retaliate with yet another confusion which aimed to strike the teddy bear pokemon, The tackle attack was a basic attack, weak in power were as the confusion had the upperhand in terms of strength, if this kept on and the only move used was tackled. The teddy pokemon would lose if it this continued,

Finally Carl uses the Pokedex and is quickly able to see all of the moves that Spinda can use. Unfortunately, Carl doesn't know what any of these moves do, so, he tells Spinda to use Fake Out. Naturally, the move fails, allowing the Chingling to use confusion once again...

After the Chingling attacks, Carl realizes his mistake and tells Spinda to use Feint Attack, hoping it will do something to the Chingling.

This chingling would float in its location, looking confused at the Spinda, the trainers movements, the way he commanded his pokemon was strange and this chingling had battled before. The pokemon would release a chime, a laugh as the spinda attempted an attack, it was then shocked for the dark attack, the super effective strike connecting and ending the pokemons chances of doing anything else. it was time, the trainer could either chose to allow the chingling to fall and recover gaining experience from the battle, or catch the pokemon.

"Alright Claps, finish it off," Carl smiled, eager that the battle was finally over. As the spinda finished off the chingling, Carl looked up at Jubilife City... and then facepalmed. How could he be so stupid? He had taken the long way to Jubilife City which passed through Sandgem Town, not the shorter hidden one through the woods. He returned spinda and trudged the rest of the way to Sandgem town when suddenly...

Upon the boy trudging around, he would come across a single pokemon. It was not violent, nor even aware of the boys presence. The single pokemon was moving its head in certain motions which seemed to create a beautiful sound, as if a master were playing the xylopohone. The level six pokemon would begin to move beautifully around regardless of its frumpy size until it noticed the trainer. Instead of acting scared it simply continued to play its sweet music as it stared at the strange being.

(Erm... how do I edit my signature...? lol...)

Carl sighed, and reached down to the ground to throw a few rocks at the Pokemon in order to scare it away. Unfortunately for Carl, he was a lousy shot, and couldn't seem to hit the Pokemon. Carl had spent a lot of time staring at computer screens, reading books, and studying up on dentistry. He spent very little outside playing pokebaseball with his friends. Eventually, Carl ran out of rocks and reached into his pocket for another projectile. He grabbed Claps' Pokeball and threw it at the Pokemon. "HA! Take that!" Carl shouted in triumph. Of course, the Pokeball landed several feet short of the Pokemon. As he was released from the confines of the pokeball, Claps instantly prepared for battle as Carl facepalmed yet again. "Fine! We'll fight you! You dumb Pokemon! Grahh!!!!" But Claps suddenly relaxed and began dancing and clapping to the rhythm of the music. At this point Carl was so ridiculously blinded with hatred for this pointless journey that his mother had sent him on, that, for some reason, he thought that he could pick up the Pokemon and fling it into the tall grass. Carl gave a loud howl of rage, ignoring Claps, and foolishly lunged at the level six Pokemon, arms outstretched!

The insect pokemon was rather dim, it did not even register the stones being thrown, in fact it simply continued to make the beautiful music, Even when the spinda was released from its pokeball. This pokemon of the bug type would simply continue to make its music. She did not register the boy coming at her with malice but upon the arms being outstretched the music would stop. The bug would jump in to the open arms and aim to cling on to the boy while nuzzling in to the neck in an affectionate way. As it nuzzled its music would change to that of a relaxing tone.

(Three cheers for flashbacks and character development! Hip Hip Hooray!)

Carl was nine years old. He was on a bench just outside of Jubilife City, sitting next to his father. His father was talking to him, and as usual Carl listened to every word intently. However Carl's father wasn't talking about dentistry like he normally did he was talking about Pokemon, outside of snide remarks or casual comments.

"Junior, I have to warn you about something. I know you don't want to go on a Pokemon journey... but it's your mother... she wants you to... I can stall, but only for so long."

Carl opened his mouth to protest but his father held up a hand.

"I know you're going to argue, but I want you to listen to me. I understand you dislike Pokemon. However, I do not."

Carl was shocked. He had thought his father had loathed Pokemon with a burning passion, shouting at Pokemon trainers who let Pokemon with them into the store and teaching Carl what to do if he encountered one in the wild without someone to defend him.

"I actually respect them. I respect their power, their strength, and their intelligence. But Junior... these things are dangerous. Look how reliant people have become on them. Could you imagine a world where Pokemon didn't help humans? Everything would plunge into chaos. Worst still, imagine a world where they rose against us? The atrocities are capable of destroying towns and cities! They are capable of murder!!!"

(Oh boy, another flashback...?)

Carl was lying in bed... his dental notes lying next to him... the hum... the chirp... the... whistle... there was too much... so much... noise... study... squeak... focus... splash... humming... buzzing...he needed sleep... but it didn't come... hummm...... hummm...

(OK, enough of those flashbacks. We now return to your regularly scheduled RP)

Carl refocused on what was going on around him. He heard the songs of the Pokemon that was embracing him. A smile crossed his lips... and idea bloomed in his mind...

"Well, I'll be off to Jubilife City," said Carl merrily. He returned Spinda to the Pokeball. It was as if the Pokemon that he had lunged at moments ago was merely a passing stranger that he unintentionally bumped into.

He whistled an odd tune that sounded like a mixture of "March of the defenders of Moscow" and "We're off to see the Wizard" and part walked, part skipped, and part marched the rest of the way to Sandgem Town.

(And now, a brief message from our sponsors: Here is a link to March of the defenders of Moscow, just to help you in-vision this- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Efb1DAeA34)

the man did not remove the pokemon from him, it still latched on as he walked, continuing to do so. The pokemon of the bug attribute would halt its song as the man began to whistle, the tune was distinctive and changed every now and again but the young bug type would pick it up. Dropping from the trainer it would walk beside him following his motions as he moved while at the same time twitching the ideal parts to make the sound it had made previously, this time to the tune of the boys whistle

(Is it okay if I leave Carl's journey from Sandgem to Jubilife City on this forum so I don't have to make a new one? He's not quite in Sandgem, but he will be very soon, and I don't expect Carl to have a very long trip between those two places.)

Carl continued to stride forward happily, ignoring the Pokemon as he whistled the odd yet mesmerizing tune. He was a only a few hundred feet from the town, but he was so wrapped up in thinking about his wonderful idea and the song that he wasn't watching where he was going.

[Sorry, if you need to pass through sandgem town and jubilife you have to make a new topic within each of those, [unless you simply state skipping them in this topic. if you want to do something in those towns like healing pokemon etc you have to make a new thread within these areas]

The sleeping pokemon would feel a foot strike its back, the sudden strike would probably have knocked over the small pokemon in normal circumstances but with it already lying down knocking over would be impossible. as the boy tripped the grass type infant would become aggressive for the intrusion and would begin to strike. A seed would slowly present itself from the usually unopened bud upon its head and in a matter of mere seconds the seed bomb move would be sent directly towards the Trainer.

Carl gets up and brushes himself off, only to be hit by the seed bomb moments later sending him sprawling to the ground. Carl grunted and got up off the ground. Moments later, Claps was on the battle field.

"Quickly! Use Fake out! Then follow up with a Feint Attack!" Carl shouted sharply. Spinda did what Carl said, and attacked quickly.

It was lucky that the Budew was weak, if it had been a strong pokemon the seed bomb could have badly wounded the trainer, or worse it could have killed him. The little seed like pokemon would then be pushed, the first assault would come to quickly, forcing its movements to halt due to the status ailnment known as flinching. The feint attack would then force it to move backwards and skid to the ground, striking the Kricketot whom would let out a screech of pain. Burmy would get back to its feet though it was already in the red zone. The added bonus was its ability. Poison Point, the spinda had struck the grass type with a contact move, a poison status may be gifted to the normal type bear. The seed would open its mouth and begin to screech in aggression. As it screeched orbs of little green light shot towards the normal type in the effect of absorb

Claps was on a roll. Shortly after being hit by the absorb, he was ready to strike again. It was as if he had never even been hit by the attack.

Carl was smiling again, but his focus didn't seem to be on the battle. "Claps! Get him with a tackle!"

Carl's plan was still bubbling in the back of his mind...

With that, the battle would end. The grass type would have been defeated and either captured or left to recover. It was the bug type pokemon whom would run up to the trainer though, tears within its eyes as it cried in pain. The budew had knocked in to it and the effect known as poison point had been activated. This bug was poisoned and would soon faint, if not treated it could even end in the death of the pokemon. What would the boy do?.

As Carl left the Budew to collapse from it's injuries, Carl looked at the Kricketot. He realized the extend of it's injuries. But he just frowned. "Why should I help you? You certainly haven't done anything to help me." With that, Carl walked the rest of the way to Sandgem town without even bothering to return his Pokemon. Spinda, realizing what Carl was doing, acted frantically and grabbed a Pokeball from Carl's pocket. As Carl walked away, he brought the pokeball to the dying Pokemon. The Kricketot, willing to do anything to prevent death or fainting, stood still and allowed Spinda to capture him on behalf of the trainer. Spinda then ran after Carl as he entered the Town.

(Done in Twinleaf, gonna have brief time in Sandgem. As you may have guessed, Carl is going to spend a lot of time in Jubilife. I'm keeping this closed between you and me for now, but I'm thinking about making this open with Carl's arrival in Jubilife. BTW, could you post info about the Kricketot here? Thanks Aito!)

Kricketot
Level 6
Ability : Run away
Moves:
Growl
Bide
Struggle Bug
Male
A rather loving and caring pokemon whom will follow a person it likes for some time. It is a bit of a wimp and cries easily, when in a pinch it can reveal its true powers. Over all a rather loving pokemon to have within ones team.

The kricketot seemed not to understand, in fact it believed the trainer was going to get help so it just sang along in its beautiful xylophone like way, being caught it did not struggle.
