Alice smiled a little at the compliment, thanking Luana for it, but she still felt tense and nervous. This battle was going to be close whatever the outcome, and she wasn't used to that feeling. Since the beginning, her battles seemed to have run smoothly in her favour, but then, this was the danger of battling a gym leader and doing the league well out of order.

"Slowpoke, use your confusion to slow down Marowak and throw her back, then follow up with water pulse!" She called, "Clefairy, use copycat on both attacks to help Slowpoke, then get Marowak with magical leaf!" She knew at least one super effective attack would strike then. It was a dangerous strategy to take the strongest Pokemon down first, but it was their best and safest chance in the rookie's opinion. "You can do it, guys, I know you can!"

"Alakazam, use Disable on Clefairy!" Having had his period of rest had passed, the Psychic reacted to Disable Clefairy's Copycat. However, the two psychic attacks managed to slow down Marowak considerably. Fortunately it made Clefairy switch tactics from his sweet kiss. "Marowak, use Bone Rush on Slowpoke, try to break from the Psychic hold!" Luana's orders were quick. However, Slowpoke was still quicker.

The confusion was traded up for Water Pulse, sending the powerful water attack right into Marowak! Luana flinched, hoping her Pokémon could withstand it. Which she did, but just barely. Still determined to win, the Pokémon rushed at Slowpoke with her Bone Rush! "Hyper Beam!" Luana called desperately, Alakazam producing the powerful white beam of energy once more, aimed at Slowpoke!

Alice cringed. Magical leaf was aiming right for Marowak, but she was scared that, all at once, her Slowpoke might be finished. "Dig under the hyper beam, just enough, Slowpoke!" She ordered. The trick room was still in effect, and it gave him enough speed to burrow right under the disasterous strike, which sparked overhead. However, the bone still hit him, and it hit twice in a row. However, that kept both of Luana's team busy.

"Both of you, get Marowak with ice beam, now!" She called. She was tempted to target Alakazam instead, but Marowak was already weak and those magical leaves were bound to catch it soon. It would make their double attack hard to dodge, and even if he was resting, Alice was still worried that Alakazam would simply vanish out of the way if two shadow balls were fired.

"No!" Luana cried, the attacks converging on her ground Pokémon all at once. The resulting blast left a dust cloud in the arena, quickly settling to reveal Marowak collapsed on the ground. The referee declared Marowak unable to battle, and the Gym Leader returned her Pokémon to his capsule for rest.

She sighed, kissing the orb before putting it away. She approached Alice, smiling and scratching her head. "Well, you're one tough cookie, huh? I wasn't expecting your Pokémon to have such wide move pools. They work together so fantastically, though!" Luana complimented, pulling a shiny badge out. Presenting it to Alice with her winnings, she smiled.

"Here, you earned this!" It was a hefty sum, along with the Jade Star Badge. Alice had officially won her second badge! On top of it, Clefairy seemed to have leveled up, learning Wake-Up Slap! Today was turning out to be a fantastic day!

Alice's mouth hung open as she waited on the dust cloud, Alakazam having to rest meaning she hopefully had time to see the result. Marowak had fainted, and she sighed in relief. Slowpoke seemed to have zoned out completely the moment that a victory was announced, but Clefairy came running and bouncing into her arms, the trainer's own short ones wrapping around him. "I put you in a scary close match there, and you did amazingly well. Brilliant work, Clefairy." She praised, kissing him all over the face, to his delight.

Luana approached, and she set him down so that he could go and check on Slowpoke, who had ascended to cloud nine. "You call me a tough cookie? That fight was terrifying." The challenger laughed honestly, "Wide movepools are my strategy, and wide types, so thank you. I'm really proud of my Pokemon, I thought we might get our arses kicked." She confessed, accepting the money and the badge with relief and delight. She really needed a massage and cool down session after that, which meant that her Pokemon probably needed them more. "Thank you so much, Luana. That was our toughest match yet. I'm really grateful, thanks."

Alice put the badge in its case and money in her purse, returning Slowpoke so that Clefairy could carefully escort her out when all was said and sorted. She'd find out when the next ship to Trovita or Mikan was, pack her things and maybe get some beauty treatments if there was time before heading out. She and her Pokemon had earned it.

Luana said goodbye to Alice, wishing her luck on her journeys after giving the girl a few tips and tricks. Not that Alice really needed them, even the leader praised her on her excellent choice of moves and team work, cooing over Clefairy for a moment. It was all short lived though, as Luana needed to prepare for her next challenger, just as Alice needed to prepare to move on.

Upon returning to the main lobby, the young woman was able to procure some solid information. A ferry for Trovita was leaving in two days at 10 AM, and a ferry for Mikan later this night at 6 PM. If she wanted to head to Mikan she would need to rush, since it was almost 3 as it was. A figure appeared behind her, a man's hand setting on Alice's shoulder.

"So how'd it go? Sorry I missed it," the voice was familiar, but thankfully not in the repressed memories sense. It was Hunter! He had an Umbreon by his side, fur sheen and healthy. It stared at Alice with those emotionless, red eyes.

Upon hearing her choices, Alice decided that Trovita would be the best place to go. She couldn't really surf with her feet in that state, and Slowpoke was going to need more training to be capable of it regardless. Her best duo needed to rest, too, after such a tough fight. Pachirisu's swift could handle the target challenge set by Rudy, it was just the battling she needed to watch out for.

She lurched when a hand landed on her shoulder, sighing in relief at the sight of Hunter, "It's okay, no problem. But I won! It was really close, but Slowpoke and Clefairy managed it! You have to have top notch teamwork, that Marowak and Alakazam she has are a scary pair." The blonde expressed with a laugh, "But I think I'll stay, and then head to Trovita Island two days from now. My feet are still in bad shape, so a surfing challenge is totally out of the question right now. I think my team and I'll relax for a while, and then train ready for it." She nodded, sure of herself, "Your Umbreon looks lovely, by the way! It's so cool, I've never seen one in real life before!"

"Heh, I'll keep that in mind," Hunter said in reply to the comment about Luana's Pokémon. He nodded as alice went on. "Sounds like a plan- and yeah, Umbreon's been with me for long time." He played mindlessly with a bobble head that had been glued to the desk for a minute or so.

"So, since you're staying around for a couple more days, does that mean we can go out again? There's a quaint little burger joint I know about," he offered, only peering to Alice from the corner of his eye. A smirk cracked on his lips.

Alice laughed shyly. She caught his smirk, a little inquisitive. Was he flirting? Was this flirting? It made her feel awkward a bit if he was, but flattered nonetheless. She gave him the benefit of the doubt. He probably didn't have any bad intentions. "Sure, I'd love to! Especially if it does blue cheese burgers, they're my total favourite." She nodded. With onion rings and sweet potato fries, the arrangement would be perfect. "When did you want to go? I'm gonna rest my Pokemon and myself up today, and train for the rest of the time I have. But I'm essentially free whenever."

"What do you say we go out tomorrow night? That'll give you all day to rest and enjoy the amenities. I'll meet you at the pier at 7, alright?" Hunter barely waited for an answer, when he got a message on his PokéGear. He glanced at it, slightly frowning for a moment before glancing back up to Alice and smiling.

"See you then!" He announced, before excusing himself. He apparently had to go take care of something. His Umbreon seemed well trained, keeping at his heels loyally. He left back out of the hotel, off to take care of his business.

Alice didn't have a chance to object, not that she planned to. Instead, she went with Clefairy to the spa to get some light foods to eat and get massages for her team, along with a manicure. Enjoying a cold shower after to wash any oils from her hair, Alice returned to the beach outside, once again taking it slowly and easily back down. Slowpoke and Clefairy were on rest duty, and Zubat wasn't exactly her priority, but she kept an eye out for the move tutor dude and released her Deino.

"It's time for us to train together, Deino! Let's go!" She released the shiny green dragon, who growled, obviously not excited at the prospect of doing work. This was especially the case with Alice sat, as she couldn't deal with being stood too long. She worked with Deino on the stretches, which the Pokemon lazily co-operated with, but didn't really expel much effort. This wasn't going to be easy work.

"Okay, Deino, let's see you use dragon rage, up in the air!" Alice challenged. Gathering an orange-blue fire in her mouth, she proudly blasted a beam up into the sky, followed by a thunder wave at her trainer's command. Beautifully, like a contest appeal, the electricity struck the first attack, splitting it into falling embers onto the sands, "Now, use headbutt on those trees!" She pointed to some palms, a few of which held fruits and coconuts. The dragon clumsily charged forward, Alice having to occasionally redirect her, until she knocked into one tree after the other. They shook, and Alice would order for Deino to do this over and over until everything fell from their holds and onto the ground. It was a good test of patience, strength and endurance, and Alice figured that her tough noggin could take it.

Alice could see that already, Deino was growing stronger, and she grinned. Whereas Clefairy would've been crying by now at the tough work, her dragon could more than take the pain. "Okay, I have an idea! Go to those rocks and use ice fang to freeze them, and then break them apart with fire fang!" It was simple science, one she remembered from high school. It was like when people defrosted their car windows on winter mornings. They would thaw it out with cold water, lest the glass shatter from the dramatic changes of temperature.

Deino looked around and raced off, but to Alice's surprise, seemed to be confused. She frowned at the Pokemon, "Deino, you're going the wrong way!" She redirected the creature, rounding her off until she found the rocks. Her sharp jaws glistened with frost, and the Pokemon bit down, the small formation beginning to cover in ice. "Again! Make it thick, cover the whole thing!" Alice commanded, watching the translucent sheet cover the rocks. When it was done, the trainer made her final order for a powerful fire fang attack, and Deino obeyed. It melted some of the ice, but it wasn't the shattering effect that she wanted.

"We need more power, Deino. Use ice fang again!" Alice said. Deino growled, annoyed at being ordered around, but she channeled her rage. The dark creature bit down once more, covering the rocks in ice, "Okay, take some distance, and then use dragonbreath with all of your might!" She hoped that the ice and water would've seeped and weakened the grey objects. Deino ran off a little way and turned, maw glowing golden as a small sphere formed over the tongue. Alice had to adjust her aim, make sure that it was on point before the blast was released. This time, the rocks broke into pieces, although that was likely the strength of the attack. It wasn't the desired effect of heat and ice like she had hoped for.

That, and her Pokemon seemed clumsy and weak in her accuracy. Alice frowned, not sure of what to think. "We're definitely going to have to work on that..." The rookie noted thoughtfully, her dragon lazily falling on her rump. They had a day and a half to try and fix the issue before taking on Rudy, and if the battle was fought on a cliff in the round as anticipated, this could be bad. "Deino, don't give up yet, we're gonna work on your accuracy next, okay?"

She realised what the issue was then It was all of Deino's floppy fur! Either she had no proper eyes, or they were just covered! Alice grimaced. They could hardly cut it, but the clumsiness had to be a personality issue, too. "Alright, how to improve your aim..." Her senses were good, so they'd have to incorporate that. But what exercise to use?

Alice had to think long and hard about what to do to get Deino's accuracy patched up, but finally, she thought of a solution. Overhead, plenty of Wingull and Pidgey soared, minding their own business on various perches or in ringed groups in the sky. Alice looked between them and the Deino. They were fairly weak, but all moving targets, and she planned to exploit that.

"Okay, Deino, there are all of those Wingull up above us! Aim a dragon breath attack, and try to catch two at once!" She ordered. The attack had a chance of paralyzing their opponents, but if it didn't work then she could fall back on thunder wave. Grumbling, Deino tilted her head upwards, listening to the creatures squawk among one another. After bugging Deino to do her job, the dragon began to charge its move before releasing a diagonal stream of gold and topaz.

It shot through the sky, the fact that they were noisy and disturbed the air helping Deino out greatly. She struck one, and it made another crash into it whilst the rest dispersed in panic. Flustered, the pair of Wingull gathered their senses before turning on Deino, swooping down towards the shiny. "Focus your energy, Deino, and use thunder wave!"

The duo were fast approaching, but her dual-type was pumped up now. She spat out a crackling line that snagged both birds, their limbs sparking in restriction. "Slide to the right and combine crunch with ice fang, target the Wingull's wing!" Deino obeyed, skillfully shifting over the grains. She waited until the wind could be felt before her jaws sliced ferociously into the Pokemon, who screeched in agony as ice crystals began to develop over feather. She ordered a headbutt to finish, the Wingull tossed aside like a ragdoll onto the sand. One Wingull was left, aggressive on the approach as it curved round to avenge an ally. However, the status condition made it cripplingly slow.

"Okay, Deino, finish this one with a dragonbreath and headbutt!" Alice called. Her Pokemon proudly roared, striking fear into the wild thing, but it was too late to flee. Her predator got it from behind with a nasty blast of dragonbreath, leaping from a charge to headbutt the Wingull to the ground. A shot of dragon rage, and they were both goners, their friends nowhere to be seen.

Deino puffed her chest out, like the proud dragon she was as she strutted about the beach. Apparently she was claiming it to be her territory now, her new 'den' even. It was somewhat laughable, since she's only taken out a few measly Wingull. Still, the whole exercise has earned her plenty of experience, and she seemed to have leveled up! It didn't seem like she was far off from leveling again, either!

Alice grinned at the sight of her Deino, heart swelling with pride at the sight of her greedy little beast. "Okay, you. We've still got a while, come back here!" She called. Her feet hurt to stumble around the sand, the heat of the grains stinging them underneath, but she eventually caught up. Crouching down, she wrestled with Deino a bit to get her to stop, ruffling the Pokemon's fur and petting her, arm hooked around the single green neck in a partial hug. She cooed her praises, Deino enjoying the petting, although she tried to appear stiff and regal.

"Come on, let's have a day, me and you. We can battle, train and play, just the two of us. You're doing so well, and I don't want to stop yet." Alice explained, almost pleading with the creature to get along. "Please, Deino?" It was the final little beg that had Deino surrender, much to her reluctance, but she was going to lead this. Alice was ecstatic, lovingly kissing her nose before leaping up to retrieve her things from the side. The creature had already begun moving on again, sniffing out prey.

A Krabby had sneaked up from behind, pincers clamping around her small tail, and Deino roared. She practically flung the thing around, spitting a gunk of toxic into the flailing water-type's eye before crunching down on one claw. Deino was merciless, dragon breath building in her throat before being blasted at close contact, and Deino shot the thing right up into the air, knocking down an unsuspecting Wingull. Alice gasped at the sight, going over as quickly as her injuries would allow. Wingull was knocked out of the sky, but her boosted lady was out for blood, and the dragon charged forward in an aggressive tackle. It didn't take out either of them, but the dragonbreath did, the fairly new skill leading to some major damage overall. Deino was loving the power trip, and after another victorious roar, she went stomping about in the shallows, sniffing out treasure and other creatures to prey on. A Magikarp was the next victim.

"Deino! Hold on!" Her Pokemon was clumsy, but unstoppable when determined, and she began toying with the helpless fish. Deino was headbutting the creature this way and that, biting its tail (the scales hurt, Deino had quickly learned), until it was fainted, after which she hurled it back into the depths. Her throw was a testament to her strength, sending the fallen quite a way and with a good splash. "All these battles are great, but please don't go too far!"

Her Pokemon huffed, nose up, and carried on scampering. She slayed everything in sight along the beach: Krabby, Corphish, the birds and other water-types who lingered, like Shellder. It was like a war zone once the battles were over: a picture of devastation, the unconscious sometimes smoking from fang assaults and beams of dragon nature. They were leaving the city limits to head into the forest, the walking and jogging at least stretching their limbs and improving speed and endurance, perhaps. It would build muscle.

"Well, let's see what carnage we can conjure here, I suppose..." Alice reflected with a weary sigh, Deino practically smirking with sadistic glee. Power corrupts.

Deino huffed, both exhilarated and a bit tired from the ruin she caused. All in all she seemed to have leveled up - twice, at that! Now the two stormed off from their spot on the beach, seeking more prey to fall victim to the ferocious dragoness. Perhaps she would try out her newly learned move, Slam on some of the potential targets!

Deino seemed a bit tired, although she wasn't very willing to show it. She tried to hold her head high, inhaling and exhaling deeply through her nose to reduce the visibility of her panting. "Great work, Deino, you learned slam!" Alice congratulated, once again crouching down to lavish the dragon with love. It was easy to hide how much the praise was enjoyed when her eyes were hidden. Sweat glistened on her green scales.

"Alright, then, whenever you're ready! Use slam on those trees and try to knock things out of it!" She encouraged, and after a brief moment to brace herself, the creature raced forward and collided with one of the trunks. The branches rustled, leaves falling, and Alice kept cheering her Pokemon onwards. Berries and fruit descended, but with no surprise to Alice, Pokemon did, too.

They were always bug or birds, and that worked in their favour much better than with any other opponents they had from the beach. Deino knew plenty of super effective moves to handle these encounters, whereas water types were a tad more resistant. Ice fang penetrated the cone body of a Pineco and wrecked the feathers of bird types, whose escape attempts were thwarted by fierce bursts of dragon rage and dragon breath. Slam being a physical attack along with the fanged moves from birth meant that the 'hustle' ability only improved their effectiveness. With each fallen battle, slam was practiced and practiced, and Alice eventually stood up so that they could proceed further in.

The pattern repeated, nocturnal Pokemon disturbed from sleep as they dropped from nests, caught unawares. They left a trail of defeat in their wake, most befitting a dragoness overlord or 'new God' as the Pokemon believed herself to be. "We're gonna sleep well tonight." She noted. With a Jade Star Badge earned, and some good training packed away, Alice smiled. "Let's make our way back and get some food then chill out. You totally earned it, Deino, and I'm proud of you."

(Nish, you cannot even begin to imagine the grief and suffering you have caused me ;w; I spent the better part of an hour calculating what Deino's level was, then forgot that it gained exp somewhere in the middle, forgot something else that I cannot recall now and then realized that though Slow didn't write what level it grew to and how much exp it gained, it's probably up to date. D: Then also that Leo adds exp in decimals. Then also that Slow doesn't. Then also that Slow probably rounded it all off. Then also that I have no idea what level Deino is at concurrently before your training post and with what exp. Then also that Slow added it in, after viewing Alice's profile. Then also that I'm taking way too many choices. (≖﹏≖✿) And many more that I do not care to write in. I count up to 17 more. )

Alice in real life felt immense sympathy for her poor training mod who she had mailed on a whim, unaware that while she was melting in the very un-British heat, the real-world Absol was having a breakdown over mathematics that no Pokemon or person should be forced to endure. Sorry, but not entirely, sorry.

In role play, the young woman began to make her way back, although she alternated their route this time. It allowed for more charges into trees, the slam attack essentially perfected by the time they were done. It fed into Deino's natural instinct, too: their lack of proper sight meant that the creatures depended on all other senses for exploration, and much like human babies, simply charged everything and experimented with their teeth to figure out what was what. Alice thought it was sad in a way. Deino would never get to admire her own reflection and fierce beauty, and never know what her trainer really looked like - if she cared to know, anyway...

Making their way through the city limits, they took care of opponents on their way: Houndour that were scavenging in the bins of alleyways, Deino handling them expertly with dragonbreath, and Trubbish, Garbador and Grimer that threatened further pollution of the pristine streets. Wingull and Rattata were rife, though the latter usually fell victim to a crunch and a slam. The pests all varied in level, but they also varied in their speed, and that made perfect practice for the duo. It turned out that Deino's accuracy really could be rotten, and Alice was learning that patience and rather specific direction was key, particularly when the 'Hustle' ability was going to be taken advantage of. Still, every bit of fighting experience counted towards growth of body and ego, and eventually, they were back at the hotel.

She bathed her scruffy Pokemon, massaging the knots out of her little madam's limbs, combing the beautiful fur while using the hair dryer. After that, it was time for dinner, the sky outside a twilight pattern of pastel. She could maybe train another team member before bed, but otherwise, there were quite a few hours the next day before meeting Hunter for a final meal together, and that could be spent constructively, too.

Given that Alice was a lazy little shit, it wasn't much of a surprise that she never trained a Pokemon before bed after all. Instead, she lay down in her teeny nightdress, the windows on partial night lock, watching TV with utter fascination. Deino was strewn across her thighs, nipping at her pale hands every time she got too engrossed to massage the dragon's back properly. Slowpoke was cuddled into the young woman's side, scornfully glaring with envy.

Clefairy and Pachirisu played, their rough and tumble essentially physical training of its own, Zubat dangling upside-down from the curtains. She would sometimes fetch the bucket of ice or a drinks bottle or carton for her lazy human whenever asked, but Slowpoke's confusion attack was proficient enough for that, and eventually, it was lights off and sleep. The five enjoyed a lie in before being woken for breakfast, and then it was on to training again.

They were back onto the beach, Alice simply in a bikini after setting her shorts down by her bag, and she led them all in the usual yoga and sporty stretches to make sure their limbs were all set. There had been enough of a break to let food go down, but from that point, the priority was for Pachirisu and Clefairy. Those two were the weakest of the bunch, although that didn't exactly make them weak by any stretch.

"Okay, you two. Pachirisu, start off by jumping into the air and using gunk shot! Aim everything into that skip over there!" Alice pointed to an alleyway. Her electric squirrel scrambled up a palm tree and launched himself upwards with a spectacular spin, cheeks buzzing a blue-white - much unlike the pinkan colour of his back stripe and ears - that attracted all of the toxins and garbage in the area. Then, with a horrible belch, the stuff was launched a grand distance into the disposal, effectively and strongly cleaning up the environment. "Now, Clefairy, I want you to use rollout! Build up lots of speed, and then Deino's going to launch you into the air with slam! After that, use grass knot and then solarbeam!"

It was important to think in terms of combinations, and she watched as her fairy curled up and sped forward, sand being brought up towards the clear skies as he did so. Deino was antsy on her paws, worryingly brutal in her expression, and didn't wait for instruction. Alice gasped, calling out for the team member, who chased after the quick Clefairy. It was funny to watch, given that her Pokemon couldn't really see. That would teach the disobedient mare! Alice waited until the right moment before directing the two in sync.

It was like a Kanto contest appeal, the blonde had to proudly think. The dual type bashed hard into the enduring Clefairy, who rolled upwards and then unfurled into the air. Using the strong, tropical sunlight, he blast a solarbeam towards the sea, fierce vines launching from the ground, likely summoned from the palm trees, grass and small plants that littered the golden grains. People in the area stopped to stare as the two best Pokemon friends landed next to each other, joining hands to launch a celebratory thunderbolt in time - the final command. Deino was just lazily off to the side. Like she gave a damn, her job was done, for now at least.

{{Well, it depends what said last message was. However, as Slowpoke's back, she can take my thread back on as moderator again. Thank you for your work during her break, though, I appreciated the chance to boost my Pokemon in the meantime. ^^}}

It was clear that even Deino had grown tougher from the small amount of participation in the training, and Alice cheered and applauded her team for their efforts, steering the dinosaur-dragon aside for the moment. Her Pokemon sat on her rump, listening to the inane chatter of her comrades before the 'contest appeals' continued, Alice taking advantage of the new moves her creatures had learned.

"Alright, Clefairy, use grass knot to throw Pachirisu up in the air! Pachirisu, use swift to surround you and then project an electro ball at the ground!" She called. The duo obeyed, the fairy once again summoning grass knots from the nearby tufts. They emerged from the sand, wrapping around the squirrel's feet and flinging him upwards. He soared high into the air, firing off glowing stars that swirled around his teeny form. Cheeks buzzing, he suddenly spat an impressive sphere of electricity at the ground, sand spraying up everywhere. "Clefairy, use ice beam on the sand!"

Clefairy did so, blasting a stream of silver, blue and white across the wave of sand. It froze over, glistening in the hot sun. Pachirisu landed next to Clefairy again, in their wide cone of ice, which was already beginning to melt. "Awesome, guys, that looks amazing!" Alice grinned. She only wished there was a camera to record the beautiful moment.
