Little Kid in a Big City!

As Brandon walked along the sidewalk towards Professor Sycamore's laboratory, he looked around him nervously. If he could say anything, it would be something like, "Oharceus, what have I done?" Every noise was making him flinch, and in a loud city like Lumiose, the boy was scared out of his wits. Luckily it was daytime, so the city wasn't as crazy as it could have been, with night-long parties and the like. Nakama poked her tiny head out of Brandon's shirt, shaking it and slapping Brandon with her ears in the process.

"Vee?"

Brandon shook his head at Nakama. They weren't even close to Sycamore's lab, which was making the boy even more nervous. Were they lost? The biggest place he'd even been was his hometown, and that was nothing compared to this city. He didn't want to ask for directions...simply because he was too shy to talk to anyone. Hopefully nobody tried to talk to him.

Nobody approached Brandon, but that wasn't necessarily a good thing. People were certainly looking at him, and that was because in Lumiose, he stood out like a sore thumb. This was the fashion capital of Kalos and one of the most superficial cities in the world, and here was this boy who was dressed casually and scruffy, with a rare Pokemon sticking out of his top! One could not tell if he was disgraceful or not. Maybe they pitied his Pokemon...

"Oh! Excuse me!" A man ran over, dressed formally in one of the most costly suits anyone could hope to afford. Sunglasses protected his eyes from the sun's rays, although he was well-kept and well tanned. "You there! How old are you? And that's your Eevee, correct?"

Brandon couldn't help but feel on the spotlight as everyone around him stared at him...and his clothes. His long, silvery green hair covered his pale green eyes as salty tears began to form. Right as the boy was on the verge of breaking down right there, he was caught by surprise as the formally dressed man ran over to him.

"Oh, Excuse me!" Brandon looked up, his eyes misty with embarrassment. He quickly wiped them off on his sleeve and listened to the man's question, "You there! How old are you? And that's your Eevee, correct?" Brandon held up one finger to show that he was answering the first question, then held up both his hands, fingers outstretched, to show he was ten. Then he held up two fingers and nodded at the man's second question. After that, he pointed at his throat and shook his head to show that he wasn't able to speak.

The man looked perplexed at first, unsure of what was going on until Brandon pointed to his throat. "Oh, I see. You don't talk. Ten years old?" He hummed approvingly, nodding. "Well, I couldn't help but notice your clothes don't really fit in here, but you look like a sweet young boy with a nice Pokemon. If you're on your way somewhere, perhaps you'd like someone to show you around?" The man continued. He was friendly, sure, but he had an ulterior motive.

Brandon was naturally a shy boy, yes, but that didn't mean he was rude or unwilling to accept help. The boy nodded in agreement, then pulled out his letter from Professor Sycamore and showed it to the man before pocketing it again. Nakama was getting a bit suspicious about this man, but Brandon pat her head to calm her. He then looked at the man like he was ready to follow.

"Great!" The man exclaimed, ushering for Brandon to follow him, "What you should remember is that the lab isn't far from the Pokemon Centre or PR Studios! If you head for the screen on the big purple building," He pointed it out, high and distant above the architecture that surrounded them, "then you can't miss it! You'll find his aides around sometimes, too, so they're great help. White coats, glasses and short hair. Unfashionable, professional. Hard to miss." He rambled, leading the way down one of the narrow alleys, ignoring the eyes of moody Pokemon trainers that loitered here and there.
