The Crossroads of Route 36 Empty
PostSubject: The Crossroads of Route 36   The Crossroads of Route 36 H6Q0F8zMon Oct 22, 2012 3:39 pm

Max yawned and stretched out his arms as he began continued to walk along what seemed like the never ending path that was Route 36. Eevee happily kept up with Max's usual fast pace and let out a happy cry every so often to let Max know she was still alive down there. Max tapped his pocket where his Badge Case was kept.

'Two badges down Eevee.' Max said as he looked down at his friend. 'I know we're doing great but don't get over confident. Falkner and Bugsy are good Gym Leaders but they're nowhere near the best' Eevee nodded in agreement.

'So there's gonna be a lot more extra training and battling in preparation for our next challenge.' Max wasn't big on grinding his pokemon to make them as powerful as they can be. He was more into trust that his pokemon would do the best they could ever do, despite their level. But making sure your pokemon keep at a steady level is important too.

Max came up to what was known by most trainers as the Sudowoodo junction. It often lived up to its name as Max had heard of many trainers catching Sudowoodo around Route 36. However as Max reached the junction itself he was faced with a bit of a dilema.

'Alright Eevee if we head north we'd end up back in Ecruteak where Morty is the Gym Leader. But if we head South-West we'll end up in Goldenrod where Whitney and her normal type pokemon are waiting.' Max weighed up the options. Morty was always known as being one of the trickiest Gym Leaders to deal with as his Ghost Pokemon were hard to beat. While Whitney on the other hand seemed innocent enough, but tales of her hard hitting Milktank had travelled all over Johto. Max looked down at Eevee who looked like she couldn't care less. He thought it over some more and finally reached a decision.

'I think Whitney would be our best bet.' Max announced to himself and Eevee. 'Heracross would go down great against her normal type pokemon and in all honesty, I don't think we could beat Morty right now.' Eevee nodded to Max, looking as determined as ever to be the best it could. Max smiled and picked her up, placing her on his shoulder.

Max continued to walk along the South end of Route 36, thinking of all the badges he was going to win and all of the pokemon he was going to capture. He thought about stopping to capture a pokemon or look for a trainer to battle, but he decided to let fate decide his next battle.

Just as he thought of a battle, a strange young boy came out of the forest nearby, asking for a battle. "I've been waiting here all day for a trainer to come, so I can beat him, and then my Pokemon will become stronger! Fight me, you coward!" The boy was yelling as if he was Max's parent, and he had done something bad. It was obvious that the kid was no more than seven years old.

Max looked up and tured to a young boy who was running his mouth. Max chuckled slightly as the boy issued his challenge. It definitely wasn't what he was expecting. Even though the kid talked a big game, he looked like a total rookie. But Max never underestimated an opponent, he'd made that mistake before. Max looked up at Eevee and smiled.

'Alright I'll accept your challenge' Max said, smiling slightly. 'Let's make this a two on two battle, no time limit. Eevee you're up first!' Eevee jumped off Max's shoulder at took a battle stance, looking to impress Max as always.

'Your move kid' Max said.

The kid grinned at the small Eevee and sent out a large hairy bug. "Go Beedrill!" He yelled as the Poison Bee pokemon came into full view.

Max was a bit taken back. The Beedrill looked strong and actually well trained. It was no surprise the kid was cocky. He pondered for a few seconds at how to approach the battle and realised that as long as he trusted in Eevee there would be no problem. He looked up and smiled confidently.

'Nice Beedrill' Max commented. 'But now let me show you how it's done Eevee now use shadow ball!' Eevee had expected this to be the command so it had already got into an offensive stance. She then proceded to summon the powerful shadowy blob and fire it towards Beedrill. Max figured it was best to avoid physical attacks if he could help as Eevee getting poisoned wasn't on the agenda.

"Thanks. I worked hard for it, getting up every morning to raise my pokemon from cocoons." The kid grinned smugly. Beedrill raised a pincer and the Shadow Ball exploded upon contact, dealing minimum damage to the bee. "Now, use Twineedle!" The boy yelled as Beedrill pointed both pincers at Eevee and fired several rounds of needles which stood a good chance of poisoning.

The powerful twineedle attack launched directly into Eevee's torso sending her flying backwards. While the damage was clear Eevee was lucky enough to avoid poisoning and looked ready to fight once more. Max smiled at Eevee and looked at his opponents Beedrill.

'Eevee fight back with Sand Attack!' Max ordered. If he could lower the Beedrills accuracy Eevee might have a better chance.

The sand flew directly at Beedrill. It closed it's eyes, humming just a bit in pain. It rubbed it's eye with a pincer, and forced it' eyes open. "Use Fury Attack!" The kid cried as Beedrill pointed both pincers at Eevee once again and zoomed at high speeds.

(so i realise its been six months but id be keen to get back to it if thats ok)

The sand attack had an obvious effect on Beedrills coordination, and it seemed to be a perfect time to counter. Max looked at the dust cloud beginning to clear and realised that it was now or never to make an attack.

'Eevee us your Iron Tail attack now!' Max yelled. Eevee's tail began to glow brightly, looking as powerful as a Steelix. The second the dust cleared Eevee leaped high above Beedrill then began to drop down, tail first, with great force. A direct hit would be a serious blow to Beedrills health and Max could only hope that Beedrill wouldn't react in time to avoid the attack.

(No problem. Welcome back~)

The Beedrill was busy trying to clear the sand from it's eyes when it was suddenly struck on the head, a heavy blow at that. It collapsed to the ground and fluttered it's wings feebly. With a soft humming sound, it slowly rose to the air, hovering low. It was obviously weak as it used another Twineedle attack at Eevee.

Beedrill was approaching Eevee once more with its powerful twineedle attack, but to Eevee, everything Beedrill was doing was in slow motion. She clearly had speed on her side now due to Beedrills larger damage intake and Eevee took it on her own initiative to dodge and ready an attack.

'Alright Eevee lets wrap this up with a shadow ball attack!' Max ordered. Eevee obliged by producing a faultless shadow ball and firing it directly and the injured Beedrill. Max was confident this would deliver the knock out blow but he had a lingering feeling inside him that Beedrill still had fight left in him. Max watched with content as Eevee fired her attack towards Beedrill, both praying that it would hit.

Beedrill nicked by, zooming upwards before using another Twineedle, firing several olive green needle like points at the opponent, Eevee.

Max watched as another attack was launched by Beedrill, cursing his luck. He reluctantly held up Eevee's pokeball.

'Eevee return now' Max said, disappointed that Eevee just couldn't cut it. 'You're a lot better than I thought you'd be. But I think its time to heat things up'. Max let out a tiny smile as he unclipped Growlithe's pokeball from his belt. The kid had some moves, but his luck was about to run out.

'Alright Growlithe lets do this!' Max announced, releasing Growlithe from his pokeball. Growlithe looked refreshed and ready for action. Same as always Max thought proudly.

'Growltihe show them what your made of with an ember attack now' Max said calmly. Growlithe barked obediently before opening its mouth wide to unleash a powerful fire aimed directly at Beedrill/

Max was surprised by the miss. Beedrill speed had been consistently impressive throughout the entire match. Max realised the only way to take this bug down, was with some close combat.

'Growlithe now charge at Beedrill and use bite attack.' Max yelled. 'And whatever you do, don't let go'. Growlithe began to charge towards Beedrill intently, brandishing his sharp teeth has he prepared to leap towards the strong poison bee pokemon.

Beedrill hovered way above, somewhere near 20 feet off the ground. Shooting upwards, it felt the effects of it's weakness but continued, using another Twineedle.

Max was getting tired of constantly missing. He needed to land a hit and land one fast if he had any chance of winning this match. He was surprised that Beedrill's previous damage wasn't having a more lasting effect on its battling. Max watched as Growlithe absorbed the Twineedle attack painlessly, due to direct type resistance.

'Alright Growlithe lets finish this off in style' Max said. 'Ember full power, NOW!'

The Beedrill was struck full on and collapsed to the ground. It shuddered once, made an attempt to get up but fell back, fainted.

Growlithe gained 10 exp!
Eevee gained 10 exp!
Eevee grew to level 15 with two exp left!

'Hey great battle kid'' Max complemented 'With a little work and some more pokemon, i doubt I'd even stand a chance'.

Max parted ways for his young advisory and continued with his journey to Goldenrod City.

Max spotted the fresh snow Pokemon wandering around, slightly shocked to see it so far from its' usual habitat. Either it's wandered too far from the ice cave or someone from the Unova region is nearby. Either way Max was content on getting some more training in for his Pokemon so he looked down at his still eager Growlithe and gave him a nod. Growlithe rushed up close to the Vanillite catching it off guard.

'Growlithe use ember!' Max called out.

(Welcome back~ Where have you been? :3)

The Vanillite squealed in pain as the searing hot embers struck it's side, melting away some of the ice. She hissed and began secreting water to patch up the hole. When that was done, she cast a single, cursory glance at the hot little Puppy Pokemon and immediately recognized her disadvantage. Nevertheless, the Ice Pokemon was not without her tricks.

She suddenly released a powerful sound wave, close to a shock wave in intensity, an Uproar, to inflict damage upon the Growlithe and hopefully knock it back. Ice crystals began to form around her as the air chilled rapidly. It has been said that Vanillite can cool things down to -58 degrees Fahrenheit. The ground iced over as the temperature continued dropping.
