Tsukino Tsubasa had conquered the first two challenges he faced in Kanto. He had beaten Brock in Pewter and Misty in Cerulean, the former being much of a challenge to him. The tedious battle had convinced him to train harder for the third gym. He barely won the battle and it was partially due to his luck. The aspiring trainer had spent a few days gathering information about the upcoming obstacles and had learned that the next gym leader specialized in electric type Pokemon. As such he had decided to obtain a ground type Pokemon to maintain a type advantage.
On his way to his next destination, he stopped near a patch of grass and decided to look for Pokemon there. He thought of a Nidoran to be an optimal choice at this point and was aware that they were not particularly rare in the area. Out of personal preference, he was going to seek out a female Nidoran. He wished to evolve it to a Nidorina and then a Nidoqueen before he takes on Lt.Surge in Vermillion City. He postponed training his Magikarp, as she would be at a type disadvantage and even more so as a Gyarados.
Tsubasa preferred to train his Pokemon from low levels and tame them to be in sync with their trainer. He learned in Cerulean how capturing a high level Misdreavus was not too helpful as it fainted way too quickly and his Dratini had to do most of the work. The dragon he had trained from a much lower level and was more adept at dealing with high pressure in battle situations. He planned to release or store the Misdreavus in a storage until he had the time to fix what he saw as errors in the ghost type. Furthermore, a ghost type Pokemon was not needed by him any time soon.
Without speculating for much longer, he ventured in to the patches hoping to find a low leveled female Nidoran to capture.

Venturing in to the tall grass was perhaps not the smartest of moves without inspecting where one was putting their feet. For as the male took a single step a shriek of anger would be heard. A vine would be pulled from under the feet of the male as it retracted along with others. The Tangela having been sleeping utilizing the growth technique to grant it nourishment from the earth. This Tangela looked powerful and strong. The boy better beware for a single vine would elongate as it shot forth to attack the pokemon trainer. Something was unique about this Tangela, its blue vines were a lovely green colour, rare indeed.
Start Ingrain Start Constrict 4 Sleep Powder 7 Vine Whip 10 Absorb 14 Poison Powder 17 Bind 20 Growth 23 Mega Drain 27 Knock Off 30 Stun Spore 33 Natural Gift 36 Giga Drain Grass 38 Ancient Power 41 Slam EM - Leech Seed

Tsubasa looked at the Tangela in amazement. It was a shiny Pokemon and he had never encountered one before. Shame it had to be a Pokemon that was not particularly useful to him at the moment. Even if he wanted to capture it and use it as a Special wall after evolving it, it was already at a high level and he could tell by how strong and tough it looked. He chose to adhere to his principles of catching low level Pokemon that are useful to him and not blindly catching the ones that are simply tough looking. He could make an exception as this one was shiny but in his better judgement, decided that a high level Tangela was still a high level Tangela. He intended on putting away his Misdreavus and his Dragonair did not necessarily have to exhaust himself fighting a strong Pokemon. The Magikarp obviously cannot take on this formidable foe which in addition to the level, had a type advantage as well.
Tsubasa took a step to the side to narrowly avoid the blue vine that elongated towards him and time slowed down as he marveled at its beauty. As eager as he was to teach the Tangela a lesson for her act of agitation, he decided otherwise. He calmly prodded away in a different direction hoping to find a more useful Pokemon.

Plodding away after the boy ran, Tangela would return to its slumber the growths spiralling.the weather would then take a turn for the worst. Lightning would descend as storm clouds filled the air. Rain fell as the lightning struck the ground. The rain would flow gently before erupting rapidly. The storm was fierce. What was the cause of this storm though? The screech would be heard over the roar of thunder before it was seen. The legendary bird pokemon was currently flying over head. It screeched as it flew over head bringing a storm all over the region as it flapped its powerful wings. This thunder storm inspired fear, pokemon after pokemon scattered including the shiny tangela. The thunder seemed to pass and everything was drenched in the rain that had accompanied the thunder storm. The bird pokemon zapdos would have been seen for mere seconds before it vanished.
Pokemon like Nidoqueen whom had been within a small cavern had scooped up its children and ran from the feared thunder, it would have lost a child this day. An egg had fell and in her fear and distress she had not returned to pick it up. The egg would begin to hatch rapidly moving quicker and quicker. Perhaps fate had intervened for the egg hatched and the first thing this child saw was the only human located in front of her.

Start Growl Start Scratch EM - Venom Drench

Not long after he walked away from the shiny Tangela, the rain began to pour heavily and the constant sound of thunder filled the skies. Confused, Tsubasa looked around to see what was happening. He saw the Tangela flee immediately, and a bunch of other Pokemon followed immediately. A group of Rattata scattered and a panicked flock of Pidgey can be seen dispersing frantically. The puzzled trainer watched as a bolt of thunder struck the ground a few meters in front of him and again further away. This was followed by the frightened screeches of the unsuspecting local Pokemon who fled the scene in massive quantities.
A distinct screech could be heard from above. Tsubasa looked to see the magnificent Pokemon above him. Although he only witnessed it for a few seconds, time seemed to stop as he watched. It would seem that the gods were in his favor. First a shiny encounter and now this?! He was awestruck by the beauty of the bird above him as it flew by. It emitted something like a crazy strong aura and had enormous presence, and one could tell this particular Pokemon was tough even for a Zapdos, even for a legendary Pokemon in general. Was this some kind of sign? Tsubasa was on his way to the Electric type gym after all! As the bird zoomed past the area, the trainer kept looking up at the sky in wonder.
One did not have to be an expert in the field of Pokemon to know what Tsubasa just bore witness to. However, this particular trainer was an expert of sorts when it came to the knowledge of Pokemon. He knew that this one was called a Zapdos and that it is a part of a trio named the Legendary Birds of Kanto. The sight was truly mystifying to the trainer who witnessed both his first Legendary Pokemon and his first Shiny Pokemon within seconds of each other! Hopefully, he would have more encounters like this with different Pokemon in the future during his voyage.
After a brief pause, the sight of a fleeing Nidoqueen caught his eye from afar. Hoping to engage one of her children in battle, Tsu took after the bipedal reptilian. He sprinted through the grass avoiding obstacles and fleeing Pokemon. Multiple Rattata would trip him on their way out of the place. He tailed the Nidoqueen for a short time and it would appear that she did not notice his presence. She dropped an egg over which the hurried trainer tripped and fell flat on to the ground. Luckily for him, the mother did not return and had decided to abandon the egg.
Tsubasa approached the egg and intended to keep it but just as he reached to grab it, the unborn Nidoran began shaking violently inside and the shell cracked open startling the trainer and causing him to fall back and land flat on the ground once again. As anticipated, a Nidoran emerged and Tsubasa would find himself to be quite the lucky one, as it was female as he had wanted in the first place.
First the shiny Pokemon, then the Zapdos and now this! What were the odds?! Tsubasa was definitely pleased now and in a much happier mood than he was a before the sudden turn of events. He was being showered in gifts! This Nidoran was practically presented to him and although he loved a challenge, Tsubasa had no reason to complain at this point.
As one would expect of a newly hatched Pokemon, the Nidoran appeared to be in vain and in search of her mother, which she would assume to be the male trainer in front of her. Disregarding this thought, Tsubasa drew a Pokeball from his bag and threw it at the newborn hoping that it will be incapable of resistance.
