Journey to the Moon

A gleeful smile was painted on Mitsuki's face. Not two hours before did Tsuki win his first Pokemon badge. The young doctor-to-be was currently waiting at the Pokemon Center for his sister and the rest of his family to finish healing. He was also waiting on his traveling partner Miles to show up.

As Tsuki waited, he read the notes he took talking to Brock on how he took care of Pokemon as a breeder. Putting his notebook away, Tsuki went up to the counter once his name was called. His Sissy looked good as new and so did his Scyther.

"Thank you." Tsuki said hugging the towering bug Pokemon.

Scyther looked a little shocked at the hug but gently returned it.

"Dra! Draitini!" [Hey! I helped too!] Shirai said a little jealous.

"Thank you too Sissy." Tsuki said before he was knocked to the ground as Shirai tackled him in a wrapping hug.

(Mitsuki and Miles were traveling together, however due to Miles' unexplained absence I am double posting. *Miles, please feel free to meet up at a later date. Mitsuki will be traveling the world in release order. TTFN Ta Ta For Now! )

Mitsuki woke early the next morning in the Pokemon Center and stretched, his back inadvertently popping slightly. Looking around, Tsuki saw several trainers waking to continue their own journey; however, Tsuki's own traveling buddy was no where to be seen. Worried something happened to Miles, Tsuki searched Pewter City with no luck. By noon, the sun was high in the clear sky causing Tsuki to return to the Pokemon Center and left a note with Nurse Joy for Miles before setting off towards his next destination, Mt. Moon.

Tsuki was still worried about his friend but decided that Miles went on ahead. Shoving Miles to the back of his mind, Tsuki looked up to the giant mountain before him. Stopping, Tsuke stared in awe. The young doctor to be knew Mt. Moon was huge because he could see it clearly from his room in Pallet Town.

"DRATINI!" [TSUKI MOVE!] Shirai yelled startling Tsuki.

"S-Sorry Sissy." Tsuki said as his cheeks warmed a little.

Tsuki eventually found the entrance and took a deep breath before walking in to the famous Fairy ridden mountain. Tsuki was surprised to find the Cave was lit without the aid of lanterns.

Though Tsuki was enjoying the quiet of the cave as he walked, he knew there was work to be done. He had managed to get his hands on the Technical Machine containing Thunderbolt and wanted to teach Shinx and Shirai the move before they got to Cerulean City. Figuring that having his sister and Shinx learn the move in a cave was the safest bet. He had had enough of forest fires to last him a lifetime.

Tsuki was staring at the disk wondering how it worked. He knew all he had to do was touch it to a Pokemon’s forehead and the Pokemon would acquire the ability; however, the young doctor wanted to know how it worked. He was so focused on the disk he never saw the floating one until Shirai spoke up.

“TINI!” [STOP!] Shirai called out, her high voice bouncing off the walls and startled Tsuki.

Tsuki looked stopped at the echoed command and finally looked up to see the floating green disk.

“Huh?” Tsuki asked pulling out his Pokedex.

“Bronzor, the Bronze Pokemon. Bronzor are found in ancient tombs. The patterns on their backs are said to be imbued with mysterious power. Bronzor is indigenous to the Sinnoh Region.” The Pokedex said in its robotic voice.

Seeing the Bronzor asking for a fight, Tsuki decided to test his badge out.

“D-Dragon Wings, please guide us in battle! Litwick, I choose you!” Tsuki said pulling a pokeball out of his jacket. “Litwick, use Astonish.”

The ghostly cyan-flamed candle appeared in a flash of light and sniffed the air before shuffling over to Tsuki. Instead of attacking the Bronzor, Litwick was more interested in the cookies Tsuki kept in his jacket and stole them leaving Tsuki dumbfounded.

The Bronzor gazed on with it's unblinking yellow eyes, not quite displaying it's current emotion, if any. Maybe it didn't have any. It's pupils and sclera followed the Litwick as it shuffled over to swipe some edibles from his trainer's pocket. Perhaps irritated at the lack of concern and attention it showed to the ongoing battle, it began emitting a loud, high-pitched sound, before suddenly releasing a blast of psychic energy. The pink, tangible energy swiftly made its way through the air towards the ghostly fire type, the Confusion bound to inflict super-effective damage while having a chance to confuse the target.

Rage unspent, the glow did not quite subside from the Bronze pokemon. It began releasing several more, similar waves, all fading away into the air, but not before they would have some effect on the foe Litwick. It was Hypnosis, a psychic move to induce sleep! Due to it's low accuracy, it was possible that the opponent could dodge it, but if not, it would inflict crippling sleep.

Litwick was too busy chowing down on the cookies she had just stolen and didn't hear the attack until it was too late. The ball of Psychic energy slammed into the little candle's back sending it flying into a small boulder. The super effective move may have knocked the wind out of Litwick but it got her attention. Noticing the floating disk charge another attack the candle managed to dodge the sleep attack but spilled the bag of cookies in her waxy hand.

"LIT!" The candle said angry that the disk made her drop her prize.

"L-Litwick, u-use Ember." Tsuki stuttered a worried look clear in his eye.

The cyan flamed candle ignored Tsuki's weak command sending a stream of flames towards the shiny Bronzor. Tsuki then realized Litwick was using Heat Wave instead.

(That's alright! Hope your test went well~)

The Bronzor, though displaying no outward emotion, seemed rattled and...startled as the Litwick suddenly flared up with a powerful Fire move. Just narrowly managing to avoid the Fire attack, even though it had a 1 in 10 percent chance. A few flames licked at the Bronzor's body, but that much it could handle. The glow died down quickly after the move subsided. The Bronzor had Heatproof! Added resistance to fire. The genderless pokemon retaliated with a move of it's own, charging a second Confusion. It was a weak move, but it was the best the Bronzor had.

Mitsuki held out the candle's pokeball calling for its return. Litwick dodged the red beam but was hit by the second Confusion. As Litwick stood up, she shook off the after effects of the minor damage she took and thrust her waxy arms out in front of her forcing a blackish-purple aura to surround them. Litwick released her Night Shade. The ghostly move missed the Bronzor entirely and ricocheted off the boulder Litwick was facing and collided with its sender. Tsuki then realized that his Litwick had fallen under the effects of the Confusion and became confused.

"L-Litwick, r-return!" Tsuki forced out finally recalling his disobedient partner.

"Scyther, V-Vacuum Wave!" Tsuki said throwing the bug type's pokeball.

The humanoid bug pokemon burst from its pokeball, charging its fighting move. His scythe-like hands were glowing as his Technician ability powered up the weak move. A few second's later, Scyther released his attack.

(Ah, darn. this is getting hard to track. Here~ New font. Also, just for information, had the Heat Wave struck, it would have been an OHKO.)

The weak attack struck the Bronzor, who seemed to leer at the new arrival. Here was a pokemon it could handle better than the first, as the attack had neither received STAB, nor was it super-effective in any way. However, should the attack, which was initiated by the Bronzor immediately - Confusion, as usual - connect, it would hardly scratch the tough exoskeleton of the Bug pokemon, seeing as it resisted the Bronze pokemons primary typing.

"Scyther, F-Focus Energy then Vacuum Wave again!" Tsuki said in his usual soft voice.

Scyther saw the beam of psychic energy but moved to dodge it a little late due to focusing on Tsuki's soft command causing it to clip his arm taking damage but managed to avoid the secondary effect. Scyther closed his eyes and drew in a deep breath focusing his already calm mind even further. With a clear mind, Scyther now had a higher chance of hitting Bronzor's weak spot and started charging his Vacuum Wave once again. As he charged his attack, the Technician ability activated causing the move's power to increase 1.5x.

Scyther swiped the air releasing the pressurized attack.

Once again the attack struck, and though powered up to a certain extent by the troublesome ability of the Scyther, the Bronzor once again escaped serious injury. The battle was glacial, but the Bronzor was content to whittle away at its foes health. It began releasing deep, swift hypnotic waves, upon effect to erraneously illusion the Scyther of overwhelming fatigue and that it must sink to the ground, oh for a rest... As though its assault wasn't over, it continued to mold the psychic waves into that of a Confusion, to attempt and strike the Bug foe a second time.

The hypnotic waves surrounded the humanoid bug Pokemon. Scyther struggled to raise his blade-like hands to attack again but they felt as though they weighed 100 pounds. As the psychic attack deepened, Scyther’s eyelids felt heavy as artificial exhaustion fell upon him causing the bug pokemon to sink to the ground succumbing to the invading sleep.
Tsuki scrambled to find Scyther’s pokeball and recall him before the next attack hit.

Unfortunately, Mitsuki was too slow. Bronzor’s Confusion slammed into the sleeping Scyther causing the effeminate doctor in training to cry out in worry.

“S-Scyther, R-Return.” Tsuki said quietly.

Scyther disappeared in a beam of red light. Shirai could sense that her brother’s confidence was starting to crumble and nuzzled his cheek. Shifting slightly Shirai manipulated her tail to grab one of the pokeballs resting in the holder of Tsuki’s jacket and gave it a small toss.

A small four legged cat like pokemon appeared in a flash of white light.

“SHINX!” The small pokemon cried out taking a stance for battle.

“S-Shinx?” Tsuki said startled that his sister called out a pokemon for him. “Uh… Q-Quick Attack.”

The cat heard the soft spoken command and pushed off with everything she had to help bring this fearsome foe down.

(Good Lord, three pokemon to bring down a Bronzor XD)

Unfortunately, Quick Attack was possibly the worst attack the Shinx could use. Barely dealing any damage, the Bronzor lazily gazed at his new foe, gaze brushing up and down like the soft paw of a cat. Pun not intended. Once again, it began charging its Confusion attack, repeating it's sole damage-dealing attack.

Tsuki was at a loss. This Bronzor seemed to be unbeatable. He didn't know what to do in order to defeat this floating disk. He had learned that Steel types had crazy high defenses but he had never really interacted with steel types before seeing at they were a huge minority in Kanto and Johto.

"TINI!" [DODGE!] Shirai cried out.

Shinx tried to dart out of the way but being at a slightly lower level, the Confusion managed to hit the cat's back half. Shinx was still standing though. She was determined to beat the Bronzor.

"Dratini dra dra!" [We have to break it's defense.] Sharai said to Tsuki.

"D-Defense...break..." Tsuki mumbled before remembering a move Shinx knew that could destroy if it was used properly. "Shinx continue to dodge but use Leer to weaken his defense." Tsuki called out hurting his voice slightly in the process.

Shinx's eyes turned red as it tried to lower the Bronzor's defense.

(Here's a hint : Take Down does the most damage, though if you go for non-recoil moves, Ice Fang does the most, and has a nice 10% chance of freezing~ Also, use Howl.Also, did your profile change...?)

The Bronzor scoffed; when you had defenses that high, what did a stage of lowering mean? Though the Leer unnerved it, causing it to attack such that it left it's defenses wide open, it's attacks slightly off-put, it considered it a slight victory when its move struck the Shinx. With a metallic-sounding cry, it released a second Confusion, psychic powers warming up from the prolonged battle.

Shinx was starting to look weary but with determined look in her eyes, Tsuki allowed her to continue battling. Shinx barely managed to dodge the Psychic attack. Landing on her feet, Shinx awaited orders.

"Howl then Ice Fang." Tsuki said putting more strain on his voice.

Shinx threw her head back and let out a loud battle cry. The cry seemed to get the young electric-type's adrenaline going causing her strength to increase. With renewed spirits, Shinx's mouth grew cold allowing sharp icicles to cling to her teeth. Darting forward as fast as she could, Shinx jumped into the air towards the floating disk.

While the Bronzor narrowly avoided getting frozen, the chill was spreading through the Bronze pokemon. It shuddered; perhaps the cold had reached its core, whatever that was. Letting out another cry, though muted from exhaustion, it began wearily preparing for another round of the usual Confusion exchange. Perhaps this time its steadfast opponent might get confused.

Shinx was just as tired as Bronzor was. The young lynx had to put forth twice the effort to compensate for her lower level. Shinx's muscles tightened causing untamed electricity to ripple through her body.

"NI DRA DRATINI!" [Shinx try dodging and use Leer again!] Shirai called out when Tsuki failed too.

Shinx heard the command but it came a split second too late causing Shinx to be pushed backwards from the head on attack. As she tried regaining her battle stance, Shinx's world became disoriented. Not knowing where to turn, Shinx tackled a boulder hurting itself further from being confused.

(Just a question; are you using a RNG for inducing confusion?)
(Also, I realized, I'd been using the wrong sprite all along :P Bronzor is shiny. In any case, since confusion heals on switching, feel free to knock it out with Litwick.)

Unfortunately, while the Shinx was capable of surviving the second blast of Confusion, the ultimate confusing effect of hurting herself would cause her to collapse. The Bronze pokemon considered it a small victory, an achievement, whittling away at the forces of this powerful trainer. Truly a force to be reckoned with. His pokemon united, together, had created dents in the metallic, tough exterior of even the most defensive pokemon in the cave. Certain that the trainer would not let it end there, the Bronzor hovered ready, prepared for its next foe.

(I didn't know that's what that was for. Oops.)

Tsuki's confidence shattered when Shinx fainted. Recalling the small electric type, he wanted nothing more than to just return to Pallet Town. However, his twin wouldn't allow Tsuki to give up so easily.

Shirai forced Tsuki to stay by calling out the stubborn candle pokemon once again.

"Dratini! Ni ni dratiiiiiiiini!" [Litwick please help us. Tsuki will bake you as many cookies as you want once we reach the next town!] Shirai said to Litwick.

Tsuki did a double take when he heard Shirai's promse. "I-I will do what?"

"Ni...Tini" [Hush! Deal?] Shirai negotiated.

Litwick pondered it for a second before nodding with a determined "Lit!"

Litwick turned and faced her opponent. Her cyan flame providing more light.

"L-Litwick N-Night Sh-Shade." Tsuki muttered.

Shirai translated. Litwick focused causing her flame to envelop her before sending out a wave of black ghostly energy.

(That's alright. I rolled it, and confusion did occur on the second turn.)

The Bronzor confidence sputtered, soughed and died at the second appearance of the Fire type foe. It's shiny hide glimmering in the small, available sunlight, it essayed to back away before it heard the command, then tilting its head in confusion. Night Shade? Didn't it have...?

It never got to finish its thought as the Ghost attack struck head on. The fixed amount of damage was, unfortunately for the Bronze opponent, too powerful for it to handle, and it fell back, collapsing from exhaustion. It had fainted.

Scyther gained 6 exp!
Scyther grew to level 11!
Litwick gained 6 exp!

(This post and the next are training posts to have Shirai and Shinx learn Thunderbolt.)

Mitsuki finally stopped in a large open area of the cave. Glancing at his watch he discovered that night had fallen outside. He decided to rest for in the cave for the night and start training his sister and Shinx tomorrow morning. After a quick dinner for him and his pokemon, he bid them all good night before returning them to their pokeballs.

The next morning, after a quick breakfast he recalled Litwick, who was trying to stir up trouble. The last thing Tsuki needed was for the ravenous candle to eat all the food before they made it to Cerulean City.

TRAINING = Dratini

Taking out the TM disk containing Thunderbolt, Tsuki looked at it and tapped it to Shirai's forehead.

"Um...S-Sissy? Use Thunderbolt?" Tsuki asked barely above a whisper.

Shirai unwound herself from her brother and focused. The jewel on her forehead glowed before releasing a wave of electricity. The TM hadn't worked.

"Hmmmm." Tsuki thought.

He knew that all Dratini could learn Thunderbolt so it must have needed to be taught a different way. As the young trainer thought, he stared at the disk. As he stared an idea formed in his head.

"Sissy, use Thunder Wave at that boulder." Tsuki said.

Shirai looked at Tsuki like he had lost his mind but nodded anyway before concentrating and released another wave of paralyzing electricity.

"Dra?" [Like that?] Shirai asked.

Tsuki nodded smiling. "Good. Now try condensing that wave into a single bolt of lightning."

Shirai concentrated before releasing yet another wave of electricity. However this wave was smaller than normal.

Tsuki smiled. "Great keep practicing until you can get it."

TRAINING = Shinx

Tsuki turned his attention to the small cat Pokemon. Shinx still looked worn out by the battle with the Bronzor yesterday but she was determined to at least learn a new move. Tsuki was a little puzzled by how to train the electric type when Shinx didn't know any electrical attacks. Shinx was excited to learn a new attack. Her excitement caused electricity to spark from her sleek coat. As Tsuki stared at the disk, another idea came to him.

"Shinx, can you pass electricity over your fur again?" The young doctor asked.

Shinx tightened her muscles causing electricity to ripple over her body.

“Good, now try generating enough electricity to propel forward.” Tsuki said.

Shinx started flexing her muscles causing electricity to pass over her body.

(Here is the second training post. After this I think we can close this thread!)

As Shinx and Shirai went about learning Thunderbolt, Tuski noticed Scyther sitting on a boulder watching over the others train and went to join him.

Shinx:

After about an hours’ worth of training, Shinx was the first to achieve Thunderbolt. Shinx had been generating electricity by flexing her muscles until all she had to do was move one muscle to cause her body to become statically charged. Tsuki noticed and approached the Shinx.

“That is awesome! Now when you gather your electrical energy force it outward from here.” Tsuki said tapping lightly on Shinx’s forhead.

Moving out of the way, Shinx twitched her nose letting her entire body to ripple with electricity causing small sparks to escape the flow.

“Shinx, use Thunderbolt on that boulder.” Tsuki said giving the command.

Shinx nodded and instead of letting the electricity dissipate, she pooled it into her nose and gave it another small twitch. Shinx’s entire body lit up and a single bolt of lightning arced through the air landing on the rock before dissipating.

Tsuki ran back up to Shinx and hugged the small lynx pokemon receiving a small shock from the excess energy.

“You did it!” Tsuki said proudly.

Shirai:

Shirai was breathing hard but she was almost there. Ever since the young dragon type had learned Thunder Wave, she had just discharged the weak paralyzing attack. Never had she thought to try condensing it into a single bolt. With each discharge of her Thunder Wave, the wave’s area shrank little by little until Shirai cried out in frustration causing a single bolt of lightning to erupt out of her opal jewel landing on the boulder just a few seconds after Shinx’s.

“Congratulations Sissy.” Tsuki said.

As Tskui walked over, a weird burnt smell assaulted his nose making him feel a little light headed. With all of the electrical attacks happening, Shinx and Shirai had turned the air around them into Ozone. Tsuki blushed when he realized his mistake and decided to recall his pokemon before making a hasty exit for Cerulean City.
