There isn't a fixed battle style for Marc because no two battles are same. There will always be differences in every aspect and Marc takes each into consideration so having a set style or tactic is illogical. Perhaps one could just put here that Marc loves being creative and imaginative with his offense. A lost won't upset Marc because for him, a battle is another way to bond with his Pokémon and another piece of life he must enjoy to the fullest.

Looks:
Marc is six-foot-three in height and weighs 265 pounds. He has a caramel skin tone and strong features. He pulled back his dark hair in a long, slick ponytail, a goatee highlighting his bearded face. He built himself powerfully, with muscles everywhere, accentuated by the tight gray t-shirt stretched across his broad chest paired with faded blue jeans. He has a tattoo that extends the entire length of his right arm. Marc often speaks in a gorgeous deep baritone.

Marc always stands up straight. His knees are as far apart as possible when walking and sitting. Often he flexes when he can.

Personality:
Marc is a friendly, happy person. He enjoys being together with other people and Pokémon. Smart, eloquent, witty and charming, he likes being the center of attraction. He does not like being alone. His zest for life ensures that others feel well in his company and that he quickly gets to know people.

Marc gets the best out of every moment - making his whole life one big party. Boredom is unknown in his presence because he is very good at carrying others away with his enthusiasm, his good mood and his optimism.

Abstract thinking and profound philosophizing about the meaning of life appeal less to Marc. He is pragmatic, realistic and live completely in the here and now. At being a Pokémon Trainer too, he prefers it when it’s all go and he can act out his purposeful way to the full. He has no problem handling several tasks at once and he blossoms out in crisis situations! A varied field of activity with a lot of social contacts is just the right thing for him. One will also seldom find him inactive in his spare time; due to his open, curious nature, he mostly has many hobbies and interests. He is not afraid of the unknown: as he is flexible and creative, he quickly adjusts to new situations and make the best of them. He sometimes come into conflict with strict rules or hierarchies by which he quickly feels constrained and against which he rebels.

History:
Marc Newman, the only child of his parents, was born in Lavaridge Town. Growing up was easy for him and of course life always offer hardships and pain but Marc was lucky enough never to go through the very unfavorable events such as having his parents divorce or having a father that beats his wife and son up. Born a laid-back person, Marc's childhood was full of adventures. Often he would explore forests and caves with his friends along with a map to help them navigate and not get lost but he makes sure that there is at least one guy with him who owns a Pokémon that could protect them should things go south.

When Marc's father came home from Johto, he brought with him a Cyndaquil as a gift for Marc's 10th birthday and Marc named the Pokémon "Aedus". Marc's easygoing personality and Aedus' easy trusting nature allowed friendship to sprout quickly. Since then, Marc always took Aedus with him wherever he went. Sometimes wild Pokémon attack Marc and his friends but Aedus battles and helps to fend off the attacker. He wasn't officially a trainer back then. Unlike other children his age, Marc wasn't interested in being a Pokémon Trainer. As their friendship grew, Aedus taught Marc what humans and Pokémon have in common. Marc learned that Pokémon are very intelligent creatures who have heart and can feel emotions much like humans. Because of it, Marc treated Aedus as somewhat of a warrior best friend and not as a pet. He just wanted to bond with the Pokémon and make him a part of his life.

Driven by his hunger for more adventures, Marc decided to become a Pokémon Trainer at the age of 20. Marc's loving best friend Aedus went with him.
