Hatchie prefer to use sneaky tactics using a lot of stat-reducing or boosting moves, that can be an advantage for his own pokémon or a disadvantage to his opponents.

Despite having been sick his whole life, Hatchie has never been hostage by depression, which has always amazed both his parents and the doctors. Though he do sometimes suffer from temporarily amnesia and schizophrenia, he is mostly as energetic as his illness allows him to be.

Hatchie often uses his sickness as an excuse to do unimaginably cruel things to living beings, such as throwing rocks after innocent pokémon, biting other kids without reason and so on. He doesn't see those kind of actions as evil, but as a way to play, while he can at the same time feel alive by studying other peoples reactions to his behavior.

Hatchie also believes his hair to be magical, as it is thick and can resist almost every comb that has tried to straighten it. So he has almost never gotten it cut, but just put it into two long, incredibly tangled pigtails; which has often led others to believe him to be of female gender.
History:
Hatchie was born into the world of pokémon, which should have been magical for itself, but something were wrong. The boy were grey in color, often began to shake even without being cold and kept coughing all the time.
The parents of Hatchie hurried to get him checked by professional doctors, but it turned out to be an unknown disease, they didn't have any cure for - as it had been undiscovered until they brought in Hatchie for check-ups.

It took several years before the doctors had figured out a way to at least reduce the number of the sudden shocks, but instead the medicine had an unfortunate effect on him; it didn't take long for the poor boy to develop sudden temporary schizophrenia and amnesia.

But as he grew older, up till his fourteenth year, Hatchie had gotten a lot better at handling his illness and could now work a lot more normally in the social, than the doctors ever thought would be possible. Surprised by the positive change in his ability of body control, his parents after a lot of persuasion allowed their fragile yet joyful son to go on a journey to experience the pleasure of pokémon battles; if he promised to take a supply of medicine with him, that would last for half a year - and when they ran out, come back after more.
And so Hatchie promised to do, willing to please his parents, so that he could get to enjoy life like a regular kid.
