Adding to the arsenal.

Tsukino Tsubasa, an improving trainer, was on his way to Cerulean city. The trainer had never found any challenge hard for his Pokemon to beat and never doubted the outcome of a Pokemon battle. That was until the day before, when he challenged gym leader Brock for his badge. After a quick paced yet intense and dangerous battle, Tsubasa managed to win but for the first time in his life was sweating in worry after the battle and had been doubting its outcome the entire time. And to top it off the gym leader was probably not even using his best Pokemon. Realizing the difficulty of the Indigo Pokemon League, Tsubasa decided to stock up on useful Pokemon and train to overcome such difficult challenges in the future.

As of now he had his main Pokemon Dratini, and a basic Magikarp who only knew how to flop around. He was going to train the useless fish and make it quite useful indeed, quite aware of the powers of its evolved form. However, that was going to be hard and thus he decided to get the easy parts over with. Overnight he compiled a list of Pokemon he could use and wrote them down sorted by priority in descending order, the least important ones first. He aimed to attain at least one on his way to the next city. The list was as follows; Aron, Baltoy, Magnemite, Treecko.

Tsubasa felt as if something was following him, but did not pay much attention to the feeling as he made his way around the place looking for specific lists of pokemon hoping to get lucky. Eventually a pokemon revealed itself, as a Misdreavus. Tsubasa did not own any pokedex or a device as such. Research gave him vast knowledge on several kinds of Pokemon. However, this one was a species he was not thoroughly knowledgeable of, as it was of Johto, a region the trainer had never been to. He was most knowledgeable about ones from Kanto. However, whatever he did know about the screech pokemon ticked the instant he saw it.

Ghost type.. 2'4".. 1 kg.. Levitate..

He was intrigued and considered adding the ghost type to his arsenal. He recalled its evolution, Mismagius, which was not especially powerful. The boy recalled that proper strategy was key and there was no weak and strong Pokemon, only weak and strong trainers. By fact he has figured out a theoretical method of letting a Cubone have more defensive use than an Aggron when both are at possible highs, and was no stranger to proper usage of weak pokemon to utilize their not so weak potentials. However, he preferred using Pokemon of species he fancies.

Then again, a Mismagius was not in his non-fancy list. He needed a ghost type in his team and his options were not very vast. The overused Gengars were out of the question. Being a ghost type, the pokemon would be immune to normal an fighting type moves. Also a Misdreavus can be taught varied elemental moves that could be useful on the long run. Still, Tsubasa's Dratini was so close to evolving and could use the experience from knocking out this Pokemon.

Deciding to let fate choose for him, Tsubasa drew out his Dratini and ordered for an Aqua Jet, assuming the opposing Pokemon's physical defense would not be good considering it was a ghost type.

With its low accuracy, confuse ray missed the dragon type without posing as a threat. Tsubasa was not careful and could not react in time to oppose the upcoming psybeam. The psychic type maneuver struck the Dratini and confused it! For a while it seemed dazed. The move left an impact on it. Luckily it was not a Dragonite yet, as it would have been a super effective move against its final evolution. Tsubasa gritted his teeth and ordered for a Dragon Rage. However, the Dratini was confused and struggled to listen, almost hurting itself. Luckily its ability Shed Skin activated in time and saved it from trouble by negating the status effect. Dragon Rage, again! A ball of fiery dragon type energy materialized and zoomed at the Misdreavus swiftly.

Sighing with much relief, Tsubasa withdrew his exhausted Dratini. His attempts were not entirely fruitless. While he had failed to acquire any of the Pokemon he had initially desired, and had also failed to evolve his Dratini, he had attained a powerful Pokemon with potential which could help him beat his next obstacle - Misty the water type gym leader of Cerulean city. He hurried to the city in order to recover his Pokemon and get it over with.
