The Pidgey was daunted by the scary face that Charmander pulled, and acted predictably. When the embers were fired off, it swooped and dodged away as quickly as it could manage, adrenaline enhancing reflexes. "Gust!" Rod called, sand whipping up from the woody battlefield with splinters as the attack was launched at Charmander from a safe distance - or so they hoped.

Vladimir did not give out any order. Charmander had to remain loyal even if that means eating the winds. He clenched his fists as the winds sliced through his fur. He is in a very horrible condition now. The attack even landed as a critical quickly cutting his little party just now. He could feel his strength fading. He collapsed to the ground, and the flame on his tail slowly weakened. This was a sudden moment of black and darkness to both Charmander and Vladimir.

The blackness engulfed both Charmander and Vladimir's thoughts. Stretching out in front of them like a map, the unknown studied their fears, their courage, and their knowledge. Is this really, how things will turn out? Will they really suffer defeat at this early? Come now, Arceus would not be that evil to them wouldn't He?

The flame on Charmander's tail was about to completely die out when his body becomes surrounded by fire and the flame on his backside suddenly grows larger and his Fire-type attacks become more powerful. Charmander did not faint. It was Blaze awakening. With sheer determination on his face, Charmander slowly stood up and looked up at the Pidgey.

Vladimir couldn't believe his eyes. That was insane; he wanted to hate Charmander for making him worry. Vladimir has this tough person persona in him but not having sleep for like two days now has not allowed him to be him at all. There is Charmander, standing strong. He is weak and will faint in just a few more attacks, but thanks to Blaze, it is now or never.

"EMBER!!!"

The shout of Vladimir echoed around. Charmander would open his mouth and unleash fireballs, bigger than they were before. Before they were just the size of three human fingers, but now they are the size of an entire fist.

Rod and his remaining Pidgey both thought that Charmander was done for. "Tackle, finish it off!" He called, worried that the enemy would get back. Pidgey began for a steep dive, to pull up close and tackle it for one last shot, but then the worst possible scenario happened: Blaze, a resurgence, and ember attacks that looked... Well, like a more aggressive attack altogether.

"Pidgey, no!" He shouted, for it was too late. One fireball nicked it, and another just struck it full on, engulfing his poor steady completely in flames. The Pidgey squawked out in anguish, beginning to flop to the ground, but Rod returned it before impact. The battle was so, so very close. "I'm proud of you, thanks for battling so hard. We almost won." He murmured comfortingly, looking up to Vladmir. He crossed the battlefield, withdrawing the prize money of $224 from one of his pockets, offering it over, "You'll need to go to a Pokemon Centre before you challenge Falkner. D'you want to walk together? That was the best challenge I've had in a while, thanks."

Charmander rose to level fourteen!

Out of Character: I feel the need to reboot the entire thing...

In Character: Vladimir took the prize money and just shoved it in his pocket. He felt really good and relieved that they had actually managed to win. He looked over to his Charmander, who weirdly seems to look differently. The Blaze has died out as the battle is over. Charmander is back to his normal state and wounds and bruises are all over his body. Only the F-word can describe how the Fire-type looked.

"I'm starting to love you even more, pal. You're a tough man," Vladimir appreciated. He swiftly withdrew the exhausted Charmander back to its Poké Ball so it may finally rest. Vladimir looked back at Rod with his red eyes lacking sleep for two days. "I didn't even have sleep for two days and we still managed to win. Not saying you are dumb or anything, don't get me wrong. Nah man, I can walk my way to the hospital alone. You're also a good Gym Trainer. Would be good if we could have a rematch sometime. Say, do you have a Poké Gear, pal? Maybe we can be friends."

Out of Character: Would it be possible if I were to make this person as an NPC friend? He would not have to tag along with Zero.

Rod rose his brows. For what reason would this guy go two days without sleep? Still, he didn't question, simply untucking the Pokegear from where it was concealed, "Yeah, sure, of course we can. As long as I'm not busy with gym duties or something, I'll pick up the call. Maybe make some myself, keep tabs on you." He joked. Although, as humorous as the remark was supposed to be, he couldn't help but think that somebody had to keep an eye on someone like this. Vladmir struck him as reckless, and not the type to take care of himself. "I'm Rod, by the way."

"I know the name, you introduced yourself earlier. I'm Vladimir. I share the same name with a psychotic president who invaded Crimea but I'm not as stupid as him," Vladimir joked back. "You can call me Zero or Vlad."

After winning his two first Trainer battles, making a big impact on this gym, stupidly and idiotically giving people a horrible first impression on him thanks to his lack of sleep, Charmander leveling up twice, and having a new friend, all that's left for Vladimir to accomplish is to beat the last boss of this life chapter: Falkner.

But before he does that, he has to visit the Pokémon Center to get Charmander back to full health as well as get some sleep. He would probably wake up later at night or midnight due to the lack of sleep. He has to get the "stupid" off him in order to function well and be in the mood to fight against Falkner. He already had a hard time with the two Gym Trainers maybe because they are good or Vladimir made things too hard for himself, or maybe he is just plain stupid all along.
