the journey begins

The pit closed as before and sat motionless for a few seconds longer than usual.

Zachary took a step forward taking a closer look at it while shadow just sat there staring at it.

The pit opened again, however, the Berry was amiss. That much was clear that the pit was alive, moving and it had just ingested the Berry.

Zachary looked at the pit and scratched his head it was obvious now that what ever it was alive. He looked around and spotted a long stick he grabbed it and stuck it into the pit when it closed he would pull hoping to dislodge and pull out whatever it was.

The jaws clamped together hard. Brutally hard. The stick snapped in half and the trainer was left holding a splintered bit of wood. After a few seconds, the broken bit was chucked out again.

Zachary stared at the end of the broken stick "well I'm definitely not putting my hand in there" he said resisting a smile then he frowned "now what am I going to do" he said thinking then he looked at shadow getting an idea. "Hey shadow use growl on the pit" he said hoping that something would happen. Shadow took a step forward and used growl on the pit.

The pit twitched a bit. Should the trainer stick the twig back in, the jaws would clap down again and splinter it badly, but it would not be able to crunch through it, as it's Attack stat depleted.

Zachary watched the pit twitch then he looked at the stick in his hand "I wonder" he said sticking the stick back into the pit ready to pull when it clamped shut.

As aforementioned, the predicted thing happened. Stick splintered, failed to break.

Zachary flinched as the stick splintered "ok here I go" he said pulling on the stick as hard as he could hoping to dislodge whatever was under the surface.

However, the thing was stubborn. Obstinately refusing to relinquish it's hold on the earth, it stood stock still.

Zachary continued pulling as hard as he noticed the thing wasn't budging then he gritted his teeth and while pulling he concentrated on the ground using his powers to try and loosen the soil.

Trapinch was suddenly yanked out. With a 'o.o' face, it quickly got into a defensive face. Perhaps this trainer was one to be reckoned with.


Level 10

Zachary stumbled back as the Trapinch was yanked out of the ground but he was able to keep his footing. He took a couple steps back getting a little farther away from the Trapinch while Shadow got between them. "Alright shadow I'm guessing you want to fight this one" Zachary said with a smile exited about his first Pokémon battle on his journey. "Ok shadow let's start by using Pursuit" he said as Shadow charged towards Trapinch.

Trapinch turned it's massive jaws aside as the Pursuit struck it's side. Suddenly rearing up on it's feet, it lashed out with sand. Sand Tomb.

"Quick dodge it" Zachary said as shadow narrowly avoided the sand tomb "now circle around Trapinch use tackle" he said. Shadow circled around and charged at Trapinch using tackle aiming for it's side.

Trapinch quickly burrowed into the sand, and just like that, gone. Disappeared. Not so much as a lump to give away it's location. Suddenly, the sand around the Umbreon's paws started caving in. Trapinch was scuttling around in the sand as fast as it could, loosening the soil around Umbreon's feet, creating it's famous inescapable pit.

(ya but if you asked me what they were I couldn't say without looking back)

Zachary saw the Trapinch disappear underground "I don't like the looks of this" he said looking around "Shadow use detect to stay away from wherever Trapinch is" Shadow used detect and was able to stay away from Trapinches pit. "Now Shadow use growl" he said wondering if it would effect Trapinch while it was underground. Shadow used growl and awaited Trapinch to show it's self.

(I'll help you then. Fissure? Superpower? X3)

Trapinch surfaced, somewhat surprised and impressed by the opposing Umbreon's dexterity. The Growl hit it smack in the face, and Trapinch had a niggling feeling that it's attack wouldn't do as much damage as it would have previously. No matter. When it pulled out it's trump card, the Attack stat played no role in it. It started kicking about sand at Shadow again, with Sand Tomb, attempting to bury the opponent.

Zachary watched as Trapinch started to use sand tomb "Shadow quick dodge to the left" he said. Shadow dodged to the left a second after Zachary said to but he wasn't quite fast enough and ended up getting hit with a glancing blow covering him with sand though it didn't seem to do much. "Okay Shadow charge Trapinch and use pursuit" he said pointing at Trapinch. Shadow shook some of the sand off of himself then he charged Trapinch head on using pursuit slightly slowed with the amount of sand still on his back.

The Trapinch merely swung it's head to the side, as though bored, and the weak dark type move seemed to do little to the Ground Type. Suddenly, it seemed to dissipate into the air. It would randomly appear at Umbreon's side to strike with a Feint Attack, an attack which is unavoidable, no matter which maneuver is performed. Despite knowing it wouldn't do much to the Dark type, just to throw mud in it's eye, metaphorically speaking, as soon as it would get close, it would strike with a powerful, super effective Superpower.

Shadow was struck by the Feint attack and stumbled slightly not expecting the attack leaving him open to the Superpower which hit him full force on the side sending him flying several feet. He landed roughly on the ground and got up shakily "Shadow are you okay" Zachary asked it was obvious that the Superpower had done a lot of damage. Shadow shook himself the yellow rings on his body glowing brightly for a moment as he stared at Trapinch ready to keep going Zachary smiled at Shadows response. "Okay shadow give Trapinch a taste of his own medicine and use Sandattack then circle around and use tackle" he said. Shadow used Sandattack aiming for Trapinches head and not waiting to see if his attack hit he darted to the left circling Trapinch then aiming for Trapinches right side he used tackle.

Trapinch have proportionally small eyes, proving that they didn't rely much on sight. Jaws powerful enough to crush boulders, they were to be avoided at all costs. The sand covered Trapinch swiftly, who began to roll about in it joyfully, seemingly unconcerned about the Accuracy drop. However, the impact from Tackle sent it rolling furthur than it would have liked. Possibly due to the Attack and Defense stat drops. Time to end this. Mouth slightly ajar, it stamped on the ground once.

The very earth seemed to quake under it, worryingly powerful for such a small stamp. Reined in power released itself as a magnificent Fissure ensued from beneath Trapinch, rushing like a torpedo towards Umbreon. Fissure, limited usage, exhaustingly powerful move. Should it hit Umbreon, it would be a one hit knockout, unaffected by anything.
