Darkened City Streets: A Tokyo Ghoul RP [Semi-Literate]

Ghouls have the same physical appearance as humans, but contain organs that, though similar, function differently. They are much more powerful than humans, and normal tools such as a knife will bend itself against their flesh. They have much greater senses than humans, and can distinguish what species a person is just by their scent. They also heal much quicker than humans, with small wounds healing within a day, and much greater ones disappearing within a week, though the process's speed is determined by the ghoul's strength. They sustain themselves on a diet of human and, in some cases, ghoul flesh. Food consumed by humans taste horrid to ghouls and cause their body to reject the food, often resulting in vomiting unless forced down. If the food isn't vomited, then it will make the ghoul physically sick and weakened. The only exceptions to this are coffee and water. The consumption of human flesh will satisfy a ghoul's starvation for about one to two months. If their hunger becomes too great, they will be driven to insanity and attack humans they may have considered their best friend in order to satisfy their hunger. Control over their hunger differs between ghouls, but the more flesh one eats, the more powerful they become. Ghoul flesh, to them, tastes horrible, but some still choose to cannibalize their own species in order to become more powerful and develop a Kakuja (see below).

Just like humans, each ghoul has a differing personality. Some may be peace-loving and feed themselves through means that won't kill humans, but others may enjoy the feast and become binge eaters or hunt humans for the fun of it. Some even act as families as close as human families, but it's all up to individual circumstances. Often, humans assume all ghouls are monsters, so in order to survive, ghouls must hide themselves and charade as humans. They are hunted mercilessly by the CCG (under human information), and usually harbor grudges against humans due to being hunted and shunned. Others simply view humans as cattle, merely a food source.


Ghouls typically wear a mask when using their abilities, especially when in the presence of humans or CCG agents. Because they must blend into human society, it is dangerous for a ghoul to reveal their face as well as their identity as a ghoul, as then they can be identified if those that saw their face escapes with their life, and be hunted at a later time.


The kakugan are a ghoul's eyes when they enter a certain state. These eyes can appear at the will of a ghoul and causes their pupils to turn red and their sclera to turn black. Though they can switch between normal, human looking eyes and their kakugan whenever they please, their kakugan will always appear when they are using a special ability such as their kagune, are excited, or are in a state of starvation.


Kagunes are the predatory organs of a ghoul, and appear for use at the will of the ghoul so long as it is strong enough to use them. They appear differently for each one, depending on their RC cells and RC types, but I won't get into specifics because I'm lazy. They are able to easily damage a ghoul's body and even disrupt the ghoul's healing process in that wound in order to delay the healing's effects. Each one acts differently, but it's usually a protrusion out of the ghoul's back and can be used as a weapon of attack or defense. It may take the form of wings, a tail, tentacles, or anything, really, so long as it's attached to the ghoul's body. Some may even fire projectiles or be able to expand and regress (within reason) in order to hit long-distance foes.


A Kakuja is a modified Kagune that acts as armor around a ghoul's body. It is a mutation created from a ghoul that cannibalizes  other ghouls. It may be a half Kakuja, which only covers some of the user's body, or a full Kakuja, which covers the entire body. If a Kakuja is achieved by the ghoul, it can still be used as a regular Kagune if the user chooses, only taking the form of armor if the ghoul wants it to be.


One-Eyed ghouls are believed to be urban legends among other ghouls, and most humans haven't even heard of them. They are a hybrid between a ghoul and a human, and if one exists, it's commonly accepted that they are stronger than a regular ghoul. Although pregnancy is possible between a human and a ghoul, though quite rare, the child will typically not survive the term. If mothered by a human, the child's body will die for lack of available nutrients and vital things not located within a human carrier, a ghoul mother's body will often see the child as food and absorb it before it can be born. This hybrid child is near impossible to be born, but miracles have happened before.

Another possible way to create a one-eyed ghoul is to transplant the organs of a ghoul into the body of a human, though this too isn't a guarantee. This process will rarely heed perfect results, and organs can be rejected by the human body. Not to mention that a ghoul isn't quite willing to give up their organs...

Humans are just like you and me, and live in the world aware of ghouls, but usually oblivious to them. They are a common prey to ghouls, and most go living normal lives and may even befriend ghouls without even knowing it. However, the CCG is an organization of humans that hunt ghouls for the safety of other humans, and its agents are specially trained to combat ghouls. They typically don't care if the ghoul is peaceful or not, they assume they all are monsters. Being in the CCG creates a high mortality rate, causing many grudges against ghouls for the death of the human's friends, though there are desk jobs if fighting ghouls isn't desirable.


A Quinque is a weapon used by a CCG agent created from the Kagune of a ghoul. Because it is made of a Kagune, it has the same power as a Kagune, and acts in the same way that the Kagune would have when it was a part of a ghoul. They are harvested and crafted from a dead ghoul, and can be broken by another Quinque or Kagune. They're typically stored inside of a briefcase until use.
