The Lights are Shining! The Big Debut!

It was a warm and beautiful day in Santalune City. Several bird Pokemon flew overhead of the city that was brimming with activity as people spent time at the local cafe, enjoying their favorite beverages and delicious snacks. Many were accompanied by not only other people, but also their Pokemon. It was a magnificent sight to behold, people and Pokemon spending their time together in bliss, sharing their joy and sorrow. Nothing could make Calanthia happy as she entered Santalune City, with her dear friend Goomy hot on her heels. Calanthia, known by her title The Blooming Actress, as as her title says, a blooming actress. Youthful and with spare time, she had decided to pursue a career as a Pokemon Trainer, and already had four Pokemon at her side. They were willing to support her through her endeavors and she was rightfully willing to help them out in return. There is nothing they would refuse to do for Calanthia, especially the Dragon-Type Pokemon Goomy, who held unyielding affection for his trainer.

As the two entered Santalune City, Calanthia remembered coming here a few times before, and knew that she was heading towards the gym. But she didn't run in a hurry, she simply walked. She had many reasons not to run, one being that her outfit was a slight bit revealing but nonetheless, it was because she was holding onto an Pokemon Egg that was given to her, as a gift from her agent. She adored the thought of carrying a Pokemon Egg and couldn't help but be curious about what could be contained within the Egg. Goomy wasn't jealous or concerned about the Egg's presence, in fact Goomy had welcomed it, rather warmly one might add. The only one who had issue was Togepi, though he had been a troublemaker. She shook any bad feelings off and headed towards the gym, with an earnest smile on her face. She pushed open the gym's door, with Goomy rushing in before her in an attempt to appear brave and powerful to his favorite trainer.

She laughed at Goomy's display, bending down and giving him a little scratch as a reward for being so brave. "Who's such a brave little Dragon-Type?", she asked as Goomy responded by jumping up and down. She smiled, returning her a standing position as she coughed in an attempt to gain attention and clear her throat. "I have come to challenge the Gym Leader of Santalune City! I am the challenger, Calanthia!.", she shouted, and waited for a response.

The gym leader of Santalune, Viola, was awaiting her next challenger. She had no idea who it would be; would it be a boy or a girl? Would it be someone of experience, or someone new to the mysteries of Pokemon? Only time could tell, and when she heard someone calling to the gym, she stood from where she had been sitting. Her camera was wrapped around her neck, the lens uncovered showing that she was ready to capture the next exciting moment. "Welcome to the gym, Calanthia," she called aloud, her stepping forward a bit. "Please, come in. I've been waiting for my next challenger!" When she saw that Calanthia was carrying a Pokmeon Egg, she looked a bit astounded. "I would assume you aren't new to raising and training your friends," she asked, giving her challenger a slight smile. "Tell me, could you stand still a moment? I mostly take pictures of action, but I believe that a shot of you holding that Pokemon Egg would go great alongside my other photographs." She was holding her hands as if putting a photo in a frame, her picking her camera up to take a snap.

Calanthia stood still for the photograph, after all she was no stranger to posing for the camera. After the picture was taken, she would speak. "Well, I never really had much time to raise my Pokemon as an actress, but I'm taking the time off to travel with them and learn everything I can about them. This egg was a parting gift from my agent. He wasn't happy about this, but I'm excited for this, and so is Goomy and the rest of my friends.", Calanthia stated, tilting her head slightly as she held up a Pokeball in her spare hand, setting the egg on the ground, which Goomy immediantly began playing with and protecting. "Now, I'd like to have a battle please Viola, so lets make it a fun match!", she said, tossing the Pokeball with grace and finesse, choosing to send in her Ralts first.

Ralts looked back at Calanthia, and it seemed they had some unspoken bond between each other, as Ralts immediantly nodded and stepped forward, waiting for her opponent to be sent out so the fight could begin. "Ralts is ready Viola, show me the strength of a Gym Leader! Please and thank you.", Calanthia shouted.

Viola listened to Calanthia's request, her letting her camera fall lightly back to where it had been resting after the shot. "I see you already know my name," she told her, the gym leader turning. She stepped forward a few times before she turned back, giving her challenger a warm welcome. As she pulled a pokeball out of her pocket, she began thinking to herself. "I feel like this trainer is something else," she thought. "Not because of her being an actres... I see a connection between her raltz and herself... It's like nothing I've seen in other trainers... Or perhaps a few." As she blinked once, she tossed her pokeball into the air, a flash appearing before the ball was replaced with a pokemon. Gracefully landing on her feet, vivillon gave a pleasant, yet strong, shreak to the challenger herself, welcoming her just as Viola had. "I'm not as strong as some of the other gym leaders, but I'm sure you're intrigued to find this out for yourself," she posed as response, her catching her pokemon's pokeball in her hand. She put it in her pocket and picked up her camera again, prepared to take a picture at any moment. "Since your the challenger, I think I'll let you go first. I won't hold back!"

The petite woman smiled devilishly, raising her hand and pointing at the Bug-Type Pokemon. "The pleasure will be ours Ralts, let us show what we've got in our big battling debut together!", she said, as Ralts nodded in agreement and stepped forward, facing off against the Vivillion with a keen smile. Raising her small arms up into the air, Ralts was ready to release an attack against her opposition. Calanthia's eyes glimmered with the excitement in her heart as she shouted vividly. "Ralts, use Confusion!" Ralts did just that, releasing the psychic energy towards Vivillion, giving out a cry of some sort as she did so.

Vivillon looked at the opposition as its eyes seemed to swirl a bit. The pokemon had been impacted by the confusion, and as such, there wasn't really a way to tell what would happen. Not only that, but there seemed to be a bit of damage from it, the vivillon staggering back a few steps [1 hit]. "What a spectacular move to begin with," Viola complimented Calanthia. "She shows great knowledge of battle, even when we've just started," she thought to herself before she looked to her pokemon. "Vivillon, use gust," she called. The pokemon tried to obey, though there was a problem; it was confused. The pokemon tried to start up a gust of air, but instead ended up smacking itself in the face [1 hit], shaking its head a bit whilst its eyes rolled just a bit faster over it. Viola then thought to herself, waiting for her opponent's next attack. She would have to be a bit cautious until the confusion was over, unless she waited and timed herself. Even confused, she knew there was a small sliver of a chance the attack could be done.

Calanthia jumped up and down, cheering in joy for her dearest Ralts. "Way to go Ralts, I knew you could do it. Now, lets follow it up with something really good.", Calanthia said, debating whether or not she should change Ralts out for another Pokemon. She decided against it, placing Espurr's ball back into her bag and turning her attention back to the Pokemon Battle. She was away that Vivillion was afflicted by confusion, making it harder for it to land a hit against her Ralts. She would ask Ralts to make this even harder for her opponent. "Ralts! Use Double Team. Go!", she commanded as Ralts raised her arms, as several copies shot out from her and surrounded the opposing Vivillion. They all stood there, watching the Vivillion, though the real Ralts had never moved from the original spot, despite that it may have seemed like it.

Pokemon battles weren't only about the pokemon. They were about the trainers and their cooperation. Viola thought to herself a moment before she looked to the real ralts. "Vivillon, use sleep powder!" The pokemon was lucky not to harm itself this time, a strange cloud of dust and powder appearing around a group of three to which Viola pointed. Hopefully it would put the opposition to sleep, though if Viola hadn't picked the right ralts, then there was room for a counter-attack.

Calanthia was wide-eyed and eager to see the outcome of the battle. As for what was currently on-going, she had no real idea if her Ralts had been hit or not by the move Sleep Powder, as she lost track of the original when she had used the move. She tried to differentiate between the many duplicates, but couldn't find the true Ralts until one of them stepped forward, only to fall back in a slumber. It was quite obvious that Vivillion had hit the right target, and Calanthia was distraught at the situation as she held up Ralts' pokeball. "Oh my dearest Ralts you did your best but lets give the spotlight to our friend, Espurr!", she shouted as Ralts was recalled into her pokeball. The small cat-like Pokemon Espurr came out of a Pokeball that was tossed by Calanthia.

Espurr gave a growl of excitement and showed that she was serious and ready to fight. "My longest friend, Espurr! Let us win this battle together and mark the beginning of our journey together with a victory here.", Calanthia shouted to Espurr, who nodded back to her and outstretched her tiny arms, sending out a vicious Dark Pulse attack towards the Vivillion.[/color]

The vivillon tried to dodge the incoming attack, despite having not been told anything by the gym leader. You could only think and analyze things so quickly, and this time the timing was off for her [1 hit]. Not showing any sign of frustration or staggering, Viola looked to the new opposing pokemon. "That's fabulous! One of your partners is put out, so you change. Good, strategic move," she spoke to Calanthia. "Now, vivillon, counter with struggle bug!" The vivillon prepared for its attack before the confusion set in, the pokemon twisting every which way wondering where the opponent was. This was before it attacked itself for not knowing, though mostly it had been by accident [1 hit].

Calanthia pointed with excitement brimming from her eyes. She shouted a command to her partner, Espurr. "Espurr, follow it up with Psybeam, lets carry out momentum to win this battle together." Espurr nodded and looked forward at Vivillion, who had hit itself in confusion. Focusing, Espurr released a psychic beam at the bug pokemon, hoping to land a hit.


(Shit post is shit I've been exhausted lately.)

The psychic attack took its toll, especially after the vivillion had just damaged itself [1 hit]. The pokemon staggered back a bit, though quickly regained its stance afterwards. Its confusion was over, and now the battle could continue onward with no other worries. "Vivillion, sleep powder," Viola called, her partner pokemon preparing for the move not even a few moments. It had to catch up with the damage that had been dealt to it altogether, and as the powder accumulated, it seemed determined to accomplish this goal. The powder spread after it was released, hopefully making contact and putting the opponent espurr to sleep.

Calanthia shouted to Espurr with enthousiasm. "Espurr! You need to dodge this!", she shouted, to no avail. Though Espurr made a daring attempt to escape the powder that quickly distributed itself across the battlefield, she couldn't manage to escape the effect of coming into contact. Espurr dozed off quickly, with Calanthia retrieving Espurr's Pokeball and returning her. "You've done great in this battle, take your rest my sweet friend. Now, Goomy I believe it's your turn to enter this fight! Lets show Viola just how brave you are.", she commanded, as Goomy slid forward onto the battlefield to face Vivillion. The small dragon looked ready to win this fight with a brave expression as it let out a noise of excitement, causing Calanthia to giggle.

It was hard to predict what a Pokemon like Goomy would even do here, since it was a Pokemon who lacked the same strength its evolutions held. Nonetheless, Goomy let loose and charged forward at Vivillion using what seemed to be a Tackle, though Calanthia had given no prior commands to Goomy. Calanthia covered her face in a bit of shame, after all her Goomy was far to excited to be battling. "Goomy, don't use Tackle! Use Bubble so Vivillion can't hit you with a Sleep Powder like the others!", Calanthia gave the command rather hastily, as Goomy stopped and went in reverse, letting loose a Bubble attack against Viola's Pokemon.

Viola had jumped the gun a bit, having vivillion begin using a sleep powder. When she heard her opponent recommand her pokemon, she watched on as vivillion took the bubbles and went down. "Vivillion," she called aloud as the pokemon laid onto the ground, knocked unconscious by her great foe. She recalled her pokemon, feeling a bit of shame towards her sudden mistake. "That was clever," she told Calanthia, figuring she had planned on goomy doing such. "Tricked me into making a mistake." She pulled another pokeball from where she kept them, setting the first back as she tossed it up. "Go Surskit, use quick attack," she called out as her pokemon friend burst free. Upon landing on the ground, it immediately charged towards goomy to fulfill Viola's wishes.

Calanthia felt a little embarrased that Viola thought she was that good of a trainer. She still had a lot to get used to, but so had to admit she would make great progress. She even planned to visit Prof. Sycamore once she reached Lumoise City, and possibly spend a fortune in purchases throughout the city. But she shook those thoughts off as the battle recommenced, with Viola sending out her Surskit. It was a fool's notion to charge in against anyone without first analyzing the situation. Calanthia thought that maybe Viola had something up her sleeve, but it was impossible to figure it out right now.

"Goomy, use Protect!", Calanthia commanded as Goomy protected itself from Surksit's Quick Attack. It was an amazing defence, and well-timed to protect Goomy from the much faster Surskit. Of course, it wasn't always a reliable defence which meant Calanthia needed to be selective about having Goomy use Protect. So she resolved to fight Surskit by using hit-and-run tactics, or possibly another solution. No, she would save that incase Goomy couldn't handle fighting Surskit. Thus, she resolved. "Goomy, use Tackle!", she shouted as Goomy ran at Surskit.

Viola looked to her opponent's pokemon. It seemed to protect itself before her surskit could do anything, her devising a small plan. Knowing the attack was going to fail, she called out to her surskit, and luckily, it was very shortly after Calanthia had directed her pokemon. "Jump Surskit, and counter with a quick attack!" It was really the only offensive move besides bubble that she had, surskit jumping over the incoming goomy. When it landed it turned to chase down the opponent's pokemon, attempting to take another swipe at the pokemon.

Calanthia raised her arm up and clenched it into a fist. "This is what its like to battle with Pokemon? I simply adore it! Tres bien!", she spoke, showing not only her excitement, but also her clearly newfound love for battling. Yes, this is reminding me of acting. Script or no script, she thought.

Goomy was hit by the Quick-Attack. He really didn't stand a chance to keep up with Surskit's movements. Goomy reeled back, but was determined to keep fighting. "Goomy, use Tackle again!", Calanthia commanded as Goomy slid forth towards Surskit, making every effort to slam himself against his foe. "Goo!", it let out a cry as it jumped at Surskit.

Calanthia looked on, with determination across her face, with a glint of concern in her eyes.

Viola watched as surskit took the incoming tackle, the pokemon rolling a time or two back before Viola pointed her finger towards the opponent. "Don't give up surskit! Bubble!" The pokemon quickly began to form bubbles, blowing them towards the goomy in harrassment.
