Part One: Eterna's Promise [Mod/Open]

Beta stepped out into the light as she left her apartment. Her husband had already said his last goodbyes, giving her a sloppy kiss on the cheek and a few dozen more on her lips before departing. They made sure they both had gotten their pokedexes, cellphones, and everything necessary for their grand adventure before they decided to finally leave. The sun shined bright down on her blonde hair, making it appear like a golden waterfall cascading down her shoulders and her back, all the way to the backs of her knees. She smiled as she began to walk down the green path, smelling the blooming flowers and light aroma of the many cafes. She peeked her head into her mother's cafe to wave her one last goodbye before continuing on. As she walked down the pathway and into the center city of Eterna, she smiled at familiar faces and hugged old friends. She held her basket in her arm full of her supplies as she skipped down to her destination.

When she arrived, she stood in the shade of the tall statue of Dialga, looking ominously down on her with pride and power. Even if it was only a statue built in its image, the strength and stature of the pokemon was still installed in Beta. She never really did like the statue, but she met plenty of people here, and it was right by her favorite place: Eterna's Greenhouse. She stepped inside, taking a deep breath of earthy greens and sweet flowers. She smiled and headed over to the berry area. She picked an Oran Berry off one of the plants and bit into it, a bit of the juices dripping down her chin. She giggled and finished the berry as she perused the plants. She bought a red succulent and fixed it against her headband as she left the store. "Thanks Katy!" She called back at one of her close friends inside. She stared at the reflection in a nearby puddle, smiling in content at how it looked. She pulled her long, flowing hair back into one big ponytail before continuing on. She ran a couple more errands before finally heading to Eterna Forest. Before she left Eterna for a while, she wanted to defeat the gym leader who she knew all too well would easily defeat her. She needed to train first.

Beta gulped as she stared down the giant forest. She had ventured through here many times, and probably could get to the other side with a blindfold on, but something about this time was different. Her husband wasn't here with her. The feeling finally sank in that she was by herself. She was on her own... adventuring into Sinnoh... for the very first time. She let out Maggy, her Miltank, who appeared in a flash of bright light with a wide smile. "Today's the day, Maggy," Beta sighed. Maggy just nodded, full of determination and strength to make up for her trainer's uncertainty.

Beta nodded slowly back, heading into Eterna forest fully aware that there could be many things waiting for her just inside the tree line. Would it be a wild pokemon? A random trainer? Beta would find out soon enough.

Eterna Forest chirped with the noises of young pokemon, as well as unidentifiable pokemon calls. The scent of wild flowers, and small ponds of swamp like water filled the air. The trees were all met at around the same height, blocking the sun from letting all its rays shine through its leaves. This caused the the forest to be somewhat shaded and darker than one would expect. Beta had entered the closest patch of grass as she scanned the forest. Everything seemed so lush and fertile, which is why you may not notice that a hoard of Roselia sat at her feet!.

"Roseee~" they all chimed in together, all seemingly squealing and waving their flowers at the woman. After happily saying hello, they were off racing off to the next grass patch they could socialize in. How could anyone ignore the beauty that was Eterna Forest.  

"Biii~"

With the scenery taken in, Beta wondered into the vast forest for her very first exploration. Not to far  in, she was met by her first wild Pokemon encounter!

Beta smiled at the Roselia she hadn't noticed before, chuckling to herself as she watched them scurry away. These "magical" creatures would soon become her companions, and Beta smiled at the thought of having more and more mystical powers to play along with and befriend. Pokemon have always been a point of confusion for her, but she tried not to think of it that way. Her truth was her truth. Beta was pulled from her thoughts when Maggy's breath caught at a nearby sight. The caterpie let out a small cry and revealed itself to the pokemon and trainer. Beta smiled and pulled out her pokedex to record the find. It recited the pokemon's information before Beta clicked it back shut and stepped over to where Miltank was facing their soon to be opponent. Beta wasn't much for battling, but she understood that if she wanted to train and proceed in Sinnoh, she would have to be doing a lot more of it.

"Alright Maggy, charge in with Tackle. When you get close, go straight for the Dizzy Punch!" The young woman called out, her long ponytail swaying with the movements of her theatrics. She swung her arm through the sticky forest air, calling out her commands dramatically like she's seen in the movies. She smiled as the Miltank began to do just that. She charged in for the attack on the wild (hopefully unsuspecting) pokemon.

Maggy thrust her fist into an empty space as the Caterpie easily avoided her attack. Beta hadn't taken into account that Miltank are exponentially slower than most pokemon. Maggy barely had time to move when the Caterpie counterattacked. The string shot stuck to her feet and up her legs as she tumbled back and to the floor. "Maggy! Be careful. Protect against its next attack!" Beta quickly called out, alerting her Miltank. Maggy nodded, still struggling to get the stringy mess off herself. She watched the Caterpie, waiting for its next attack so she could protect herself.

Beta blinked blankly at the small creature as it made its way towards her instead of the pokemo. Beta was wondering if this was how a trainer battle was supposed to work? When the Caterpie got in range, Beta swung her leg back and then forward with all her force. She was hoping her foot would connect with the caterpillar-like pokemon and send it back a few feet. Truly, she was just trying to buy time for Maggy, who was just beginning to get the sticky substance off her legs. It would take a moment more before she could really get it off, and her speed would still be lowered, unfortunately. Beta was an unusual trainer, but what can she say? Pokemon aren't exactly her strong suit when it comes to understanding. She just hopes that Maggy's magic is stronger than this Caterpie's.
