(You can definitely exclude ALL underlined text from the training total, as well as text outside training portions)

Arenzo approached a tree, dratini wrapped around his shoulder. "Alright friend, we need to be stronger for later," he told his pokemon friend. She could only agree, slithering down his shoulder and to the ground.

~ Training Begins: Dratini ~

"Dragon tail," Aren spoke, his voice a bit unenthusiastic as his pokemon charged towards the tree. The pokemon swiped its tail with as much might as it could muster, leaving a small indent. "Again," Aren called, dratini repeating the motion. Aren noticed that after a few times, dratini's speed slowly increased, and the force behind the swipe increased. "Again, this time with a [dragon] pulse," he called. The small serpent seemed to puff up a little, holding its breath a split second before its mouth opened. From inside came a burst of what seemed to be energy. Aren had not specifically given his pokemon a strategy, leaving how it attacked to its descretion. After the pulse was dissipated against the tree, Aren's dratini lunged, spinning quickly with a strike of its tail into the tree. The indent left was larger than the others, likely because the pulse rose the tension before the strike.

"Good," Aren told his friend. "Breathe in deep! [Dragon] pulse as long as possible," he called out, pointing towards the sky. The dratini puffed up a second time, stiffening as she opened her mouth to the sky. She lost the pulse shortly after beginning, Aren observing. "Dratini, don't over-use the energy in one moment," he instructed. "As if calmly inhaling and exhaling, spread it out a while. Now try again!" Puffing up a third time and taking in a breath, Dratini attempted what she was instructed. The thickness of the dragon pulse was not as much as the last attempt. The pokemon managed to double the time period in which the pulse lasted though, Aren clapping a couple of times. "Now again," he spoke. He was testing his friend's endurance, the pokemon holding another pulse in its mouth that was pointed to the sky. After a few more attempts, it was having a light difficulty breathing.

"Endurance is critical in battle," Aren told his pokemon. "We need to push you to your limit." His pokemon could only agree.

"Dratini, twister!" His pokemon spun up a whirl of wind, creating a twister that shamed his pokemon's potential. At first it would be that way; everyone needs practice, after all. "Alright Dratini, listen carefully. Try to spin faster. When the twister is formed, use a pulse on it!" The pokemon slithered a few feet away; the size of the twister to come would be unknown. The dratini began spinning, incrementing its speed until another twister was up. The whirl of air, when beginning to shrink, was enhanced in size and speed when the pokemon launched a pulse at it. The color also stained a bit from the pulse.

"Alright dratini, listen up," Aren spoke loudly, trying to speak over the twister's noise. "Wrap around it!" His prediction was the twister would spin his serpentine pokemon around. "Focus and jump out towards the tree! Use your dragon tail then!" The pokemon, though fearful of the order, trusted Aren and slithered to the twister quickly. It picked her up, Aren watching a band form from where his pokemon was being spun faster and faster. "Shut your eyes and keep focus," he called, the dratini's eyes already shut. Waiting, it jumped out with its tail glowing a slight purple (dragon tail). Continuously spinning towards the tree, the impact its tail made caused the tree to creak. An even larger gash was left in the trunk, a sign of dratini's boosted speed and power from the enhanced twister.

~ Training End: Dratini ~

Exhausted from the training session, Aren knew his pokemon needed a rest. He watched the serpent slump lightly at the base of the tree. "Take a rest dratini. You can practice more in a bit when you've caught your breath," he said gently, proud of his pokemon. Dratini slithered, wobbling a bit to the sides until she curled in a circle at Aren's side resting. Aren tossed a pokeball he had pulled out into the air then. "Come on out gible. Time to train!" A burst of light later, and his first pokemon companion was at his side.

~ Training Begin: Gible ~

"Gible, tackle," Aren called. His pokemon, wishing to please him, jumped towards the tree after a quick charge. It didn't do much, just as dratini's beginnings had. "Okay gible, dragon breath!" The pokemon jumped back a few feet, launching a stream towards the tree. Having been hasty, the stream lasted a very short time. "Gible, as dratini did, pull in a gust of breath, then slowly exhale it!" The gible looked up, emitting a noise from its mouth as it sucked in a large amount of air.

The pokemon tilted its head down, opening its mouth and launching another stream of breath at the tree. Aren watched the pokemon's pose, it wavering when the pokemon was losing the stream. "At this point I'd expect you to release and claw," he spoke. The pokemon released the previous attack, lunging forward at the tree. It twisted once, using the slight increase of speed to claw at the tree. Leaving three marks, the deepest was the middle. Aren noticed this.

"Balance your strength," he instructed. "Dealing equal damage in a larger area may do more than binding strength to one portion. Try again." The gible quickly repeated its earlier actions, though spun twice this time. The claw marks left into the tree were nearly equivalent in size, though Aren had the pokemon repeat the action again for good measure.

"Now to practice your sand-attack," Aren spoke. The gible, not understanding it wasn't an order, kicked its foot into the ground. Picking up dust, it thrust the dirt and sand into the air, creating a small mist that lasted very shortly. "Gible, use a bit more force in the kick and gathering of the dirt. Try again!" The gible jumped up a few inches, landing with one foot pointed at the ground. Scooping up more dust than before, though not much, it kicked the soil forward. The mist was larger, though lasted only the same amount of time as before.

~ Training End: Gible ~

"Nice job Gible," Aren spoke to his pokemon, giving a single chuckle. He looked over to his dratini, the pokemon having finished its break. "Now, an important part of most battles is teamwork," Aren instructed. "Should we ever have to fight more than one pokemon at a time, using combinations of your moves will be vital to the success of our fight." The two pokemon were looking upto their trainer, nodding in agreement.

~ Training Begin: Dratini + Gible ~

"Good," Aren told his friends. "Now, dratini, create a twister. Gible, when its created, jump into it. Use your [dragon] breath to speed it up. Dratini, when that happens, wrap around it. Both of you need focus for this task. Dratini, launch out and use your [dragon] tail to send the twister forward. Gible, use your [dragon] claws and spin with the twister."

It was a complex tactic. Dratini slithered a few feet forward, beginning to twist. From her past practice, she became faster until wind was kicking up and beginning to spin. She slithered backward, gible taking a deep breath. It jumped into the twister, launching its first attack to cause the twister to become faster; in addition, the size of the air gust increased.

Dratini jumped and wrapped into the twister while Aren's gible continued to speed it up. Within moments she was a thin band in the center, eventually launching out. Spinning very quickly in the air, the serpent threw her tail at the twister. As if absorbing the energy keeping her spinning, dratini stopped her own winding as the twister's increased. Gible, meanwhile, prepared a set of claws, holding them out to the edge. As they glowed purple, Aren saw three bands form as the twister headed towards the tree.

Upon contact a large snap arose. The tree fell over from all the damage it had taken and then. Aren watched his pokemon come back to him in pride. "We aren't done," he told them.

"Gible, I want you to breath in heavily. Launch a breath into the air. Dratini, use a dragon pulse to increase its power!" The gible Aren owned breathed in heavily as his dratini puffed up for the fifth time their session. Gible released a stream of energy pointed in the air, dratini launching a light pulse towards it. The pulse was caught into the breath and heaved forward, surrounded by the excess energy while Aren's pokemon settled.

~ Training End: Dratini + Gible ~

Seeing his pokemon beyond exhaustion after the second tag-team tactic, Aren recalled gible to its pokeball. He then scooped up his dratini and put her around his neck where she was happy. The pokemon wrapped lightly around his neck to rest while gible did so in the comfort of its ball.

The training was quite extensive for the Pokémon, who were a rather low level to begin. Dratini's was harsher, and had gained more experience thus. Gible gained 47 experience, growing to level 15 and learning Sand Storm and Take Down in the process. Dratini on the other hand, had gained a whopping 69 experience, growing to level 17 and learning Dragon Rage!
