Subject: A New Path ( Pooch, Open ) Sun Jul 20, 2014 8:58 am

The slow warmth of the sun began to wash over route thirty as it rose slowly into the sky. The blades of grass kissed with past midnight dew gave off an alluring shimmer in the light of the sun. Although it was early morning nothing was quiet and nothing was calm on this busy route. Here and there Pokemon dashed about in the tall grass, swam gleefully in the cool ponds, and shook the leaves on the trees with their movements. It indeed was a fresh new day and nothing short of beautiful. On this new day a fresh breeze swept through the area as if to prepare the environment for an arrival of sorts, one that would be new and exciting. Just what did this new day have in store?

"Pokeballs? Check. Potions and Status healers? Check. Water and Snacks? Double Check! Parents goodbye kit? Yep it's all here."
As the Lapras pulled onto the sandy shores of Cherrygrove City, Melrose checked her pink and white bag twice to make sure she had everything she needed for the start of her journey into Johto. It had taken her a whole year to get around Kanto and that was with the help of her parents. The young blond smiled as the town greeted her with its homely feel. The time she was in Kanto was fun but now she felt as if she were on a real adventure, no more holding hands with mom and dad, heck she even went as far as not taking a map with her ( truly an accident on her part ). The sun warmed her skin and as she was escorted off of the lapras, Melrose couldn't help but feel a bit oh homesickness washing over her.
" No looking back now.... "

The words were only a whisper to herself, a form of encouragement. She was doing what she only dreamed and it was time to get down to business. She was gonna get the full scope inside and out about all the Pokemon in the world and the areas they lived in. Turning to the man on the Lapras she waved goodbye to him as he made his way back to Kanto. Her father had paid him to take her as far as she needed to go and she was happy to have that one last service from her parents. Without anymore hold up Melrose took her first steps into Cherrygrove. She didn't stick around for too long because she wanted to check out route thirty. Even though she lacked a map, Melrose had done extensive research on Johto while back home. She knew from where she started on forward where most places were and even if she got lost she could always as for directions.

The excitement of it all made Melrose tremble as she walked up to the sign that pointed in the direction of route thirty. Stopping at the sign she removed her bag and took out the box that was packed neatly inside. It was a white box with a purple ribbon. " Lets see what mother and father sent me off with then. " The first few items to catch her eyes were a golden nugget, a mystic water, a hydration rock, and a water stone. Her eye widened with joy as a smile spread over her face, picking up each item and touching it pulling out her journal and jotting down notes for each one. She for the most part had only read about these items in books, and now here she was able to touch and use them as she pleased. The next few items left were a few rare candies and a nice new shiny Pokedex! Melrose couldn't believe it! She was almost too excited and quickly stuffing the rest of the things in her bag, she began to run down route thirty and into the first patch of tall grass that she could. Her only thought was about trying this bad boy out on her first Pokemon to solidify her title as an adventurer. She didn't even bother taking notice of any others nearby if there were, and her excitement blinded her of all but her goal. Searching around Melrose could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she waited for a wild Pokemon to appear.

Creeps and Knight just finished their practice battle, both warn out "good work guys!" Steven said, his Phantump floating over his shoulder, his Duskull sat away from everyone, being the first to notice the girl, "Duskull..." it said, unable to do much so just went silent again, waiting to see what scene happens next. Steven started to reach to pet Phantump, but someone had tackled him to the ground, on his back. After the quick thing of pain, he looked at the girl, then at Phantump, who was close to cracking into tears, he gave a small chuckle to show the pokemon he was fine, then he looked back at the girl who was either, fallen onto him from both forces going in one direction, still standing from both forces colliding and richochett off each other, or the girl is on the because the ricochett had been to strong for her body react fast enough.

It hadn't been more than a minute passing before Melrose found herself falling onto the ground from bumping into an unknown force. The soft grass below broke the pain of her fall and so not much harm came to her. Quickly looking up she was faced with a boy and four other pokemon. Her violet-blue eyes lit up as she quickly scrambled to her feet brushing the dust off of her white pants, and observing each one of the pokemon with great interest. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going. Are these your pokemon?" Melrose beamed brightly as she took in the features of each one, deducing most of them to be of the ghost type and one to be of the steel type. She hadn't seen many ghost types before and certainly not the ones in front of her now. She had been so fascinated by them all she had forgotten she had just gotten a pokedex for this reason.

"I'm not harmed, so its not a problem, and yes, these are all my pokemon" he says, Knight quickly runs over, excited of a new face being seen "That one is Knight, the Haunter is Creeps, and the last two is Phantump and Duskull, I still to nickname those two... hm..." Steven went into thinking for a second, before deciding to stand up and brush off his own pants. Phantump went over to Steven shoulder and stayed right there."by the way, hey, I'm Steven, yours?"

Melrose was very happy that no harm came to the male. She was such a klutz sometimes and made a mental note to pay more attention. The male introduced his pokemon and then himself. For a second she pondered herself on nicknames for the last two as he had done until she was pulled away from though by his question. " My name is Melrose, I'm pretty new to the Johto region. I'm on an adventure to find many different pokemon, which is what I was doing before I bumped into you" Pulling a pokeball out of her bag she pressed the device and out came the familiar flash of red light. The light shot out a few inches from her and once it vanished in it's place a sleeping slakoth lie at her feet. Smiling at him she picked him up and poked at his nose. " Mr.Biggs, wake up and say hello."

The small, brown slakoth moved around a bit in Melrose's arms and smiled at her. He was happy that she was he trainer but didn't understand what she was talking about. Friends? he thought to himself as he looked over at the other pokemon and the male a few feet away from them. Mr.Biggs instinctively frowned at the thought of these males becoming friends with his trainer, she didn't need them, she had him! Turning from them all he looked back up at Melrose for answers only to see her looking down with a disappointed frown. He knew what that meant and shook his head slowly.
" I'm sorry, Mr.Biggs is my precious Slakoth, he gets a bit jealous when I'm around new folks. He is actually very sweet." Her voice was so sweet to him and he smiled at her when she spoke. Melrose knew that Mr.Biggs wouldn't approve but she wanted to introduce him as Steven had done with his own pokemon.

Steven smiled at the Sloth pokemon "hello Mr. Biggs, I am Steven" Knight stared at Mr. Biggs, then he chirped happily, another new face, so many new friends, Creeps floated over to Knight and picked him, the two then greeted themselves to Mr. Biggs, Phantump stayed at Stevens shoulder instead of greeting, and so did Duskull

Slakoth refused to acknowledge the others and instead kept his face turned away from them all only looking at Melrose. He didn't want anything to do with them and began to stubbornly ignore the two pokemon coming his way. " I'm sorry, hello Knight, hello Creeps you are very handsome pokemon and I bet pretty strong as well." All seemed well for the time that the group was talking and getting to know one another. For a moment Melrose forgot about her task at hand until the rustling of grass from the corner of her eye caught her attention. Stepping to get a better view of it she had bet her bottom pokebuck that it was a pokemon in that patch of rustling grass. Preparing herself she looked from Steven to Mr.Biggs before looking towards the grass again. " There is something in the grass....I think it's about to come this way. Get ready Mr.Biggs."

The grass continued to rustle violently, until the pokemon finally showed its face to the waiting teenage girl along with Mr.Biggs!

A New Path ( Pooch, Open ) Oddish

The Oddish seemed to be afraid of the gang of trainers, but still slowly walked into the circle of battle. The Oddish introduced itself, squealing it's name. "Od-Oddish!" it squeaked out before attacking blindly, simply because it felt threatened by how close the two trainers were to its habitat. The Oddish used Acid spitting out a thick vile purple substance, heading right for Mr.Biggs!

Melrose didn't hesitate and let the flow of battle take it course. She could hear the fear in the voice of the oddish and she could feel the excitement rushing through her veins. She didn't have to wait for the attack that she knew would come and simple moved to the left as the oddish spat a substance from his mouth. It was a simple dodge on her part and with Slakoth still in her arms she didn't have to worry much about him. Ok Mr.Biggs, Time to show your stuff! ADVENTURE TIME! Mr,Biggs Yawn and dodge the next attack!" placing him onto the ground and moving a few feet from him to give the two room, She understood that he couldn't very well dodge anything after one attack but she was so caught up in her first wild battle that she just said what came to her mind. Because she knew Mr.Biggs would be " loafing around " after every other attack she had to make sure the opponent wasn't able to take advantage. Biting her lip she knew it would hurt but Mr.Biggs would probably be taking one attack before the Yawn took the full effect.

Some of the acidic liquid stood on the ground still disintegrating the ground under it. The Oddish seemed to be frightened even further as the trainer did not back down even when the acid destroyed the dirt and grass in front of her.

"Od-Oddish...." it seemed to want to back down but wouldn't, it must protect it's home! Staring down the trainer, the Oddish didn't seem to see the Slakoth lazily yawn at it. Oddish eyes began to droop, but it was still awake! It swung its body in a circular motion, the leaf on the top of its head swinging straight for the Slakoth! The Razor Leaf hit dead on, as the Slakoth turned on it's back and looked at its trainer, scratching its belly.

Flinching as she watched Mr.Biggs battle his first battle Melrose could only smile after she seen the lazy pokemon get pushed onto his back, seemingly unfazed by the razor leaf attack. You are doing great out there Mr.Biggs! Don't worry this will all be over soon! Pulling out a pokeball from her bag, Melrose smiled to herself. She didn't want to bring unnecessary harm to the oddish and waited for it to fall asleep before throwing the pokeball directly at it. If she were to miss then she would resort to a few weak attacks before another attempt, but she hoped it wouldn't come to that.

The yawn attack worked like a charm, as the Oddish eyes drooped further and further until it fell to the ground, snoring cutely.

"Od-oddishhhhhh...." it whispered, sound asleep. The ball hit the pokemon perfectly on the head, and it got sucked into the fresh new pokeball.

Wiggle...
Wiggle...

The pokeball burst open, breaking into two pieces. The Oddish had broken free, and even seemed to be awake now! Awaking from its nap, its started where it left off, this time using acid at the lazy sloth pokemon.

This time, the Slakoth began to dig in the dirt, wiggling its claws in the moist soil. The acid spit out of Oddish's mouth quickly, steaming hot. Once it hit, the Slakoth squirmed in pain of the acid.

Mr.Biggs was poisoned!

One...Two....BURST. Her safe plan had failed and even though she had a back up plan and fear and anger rose inside of her like fire in her stomach and chest. Not only did she not catch the little Oddish but it also woke up and attacked! Frowning she ran to Mr.Biggs the antidote and a bottle of water in her hands at the ready. Without a moment to spare she placed the head of her Slakoth in her lap and quickly poured the water on his belly to clean the acid away, then spraying the antidote she sighed to herself. " Ok Mr.Biggs....It's time we get a bit rough. " Looking up she quickly placed Slakoth up right and got back into position. It was now or never and She wasn't about to let her pokemon get hurt a second time. " Quickly Use Crush Claw! Mr.Biggs.! Because he loved his trainer and didn't want to disappoint Slakoth did as he was told and slashed his long and hard claws at the Oddish fiercely. Refusing to waste another pokeball Melrose did not try to capture it again nor did she try a follow up attack as she was sure after this attack the fight might be over, and if not she couldn't do a thing with Slakoth Loafing around......

The Oddish dodged slightly to the right, still getting hit by the Crush Claw in the lower abdomen. The Oddish looked down in agony and pain before whimpering and trying to get up but simply could not. It squealed one last squeal as it fainted.

"Od...od"

Slakoth gained 11 EXP!

The Oddish lay defeated on the grass patch as he failed to protect what he thought was a threat to its habitat.

Sighing happily Melrose ran over to Mr.Biggs and planted a light kiss upon his forehead. " We did it!" Slakoth nodded peacefully as it yawned itself to sleep. Melrose smiled and returned the worn out pokemon to it's pokeball, giving the pokeball a kiss and whispering to it " You did a wonderful job out there...." Placing the ball into her bag she pulled out a pokeball and looked ahead at the fainted oddish who seemed to be in pretty bad shape. " You put up a great fight out there...." Throwing the pokeball at the pokemon, Melrose wondered how the poor thing would react once it came through again. Turning to Steven she smiled a bright and happy smile though it was only a cover for sadness. " This is my first time catching a wild pokemon...And my first battle.. It's nothing like I thought it would be, but I enjoyed it nonetheless... I can see why this is the best way to bond.." Placing the ball in her bag she felt the sudden urge to continue her pokemon search alone.
" It was nice meeting you, but I gotta get this little lady to the pokemon center, maybe we will run into each other again. Goodbye steven." With those words she walked back towards Cherrygrove, mentally patting herself on the back for surviving her first time.

Steven just gave a small chuckle "my life is weird" he said before going back to trainer by hiself again, Phantump floating over his shoulder, Duskull floating from afar, and Creep and Knight doing the battling. This trainer just sat there and watched the battling go on.
