Gotta start somewhere (Open)

Gwen yawned as she got up from her bed and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. Her life has been pretty lazy so far, staying at home with her mom and just chilling with her Pokemon. "Mom?" She yelled. No answer. She sighed and got up, stretching as she opened her closet. Her mother must have been out shopping or something. She got dressed in her blue tee-shirt and jeans, and placed a light, striped jacket over herself. Then, grabbing her bag she rushed downstairs and grabbed a piece of bread that was left on the table for her.

Unlike her however, Cyndaquil, whom she sometimes called cindy, was busy frolicking around with the other pokemon her mom had kept and raised. “Where do you get that much energy from?” Gwen said to herself while watching her beloved pokemon. Placing her fingers between her lips she would let out a shrill whistle alerting her pokemon that she was about to head out and it quickly ran at her side following its master.  

She placed the bag over her should and locked the door behind her, turning around to face the open. She was thinking that today she'd finally set off to head to battle some random trainer or just explore more than Petalburg. Even though Hoenn was her home region, she never bothered to explore it much. She was a bit ashamed of that too, the only city she knew like the back of her hand was Petlaburg. . If she went to any other town or city she would probably get lost. “Ummm, Where should we go Cindy?” Gwen said turning to her cyndaquil who was busy chasing after a dragonfly into Petalburg woods. “I guess we’ll just head to the forest then” Gwen chuckled as she entered the forest.

Raymond sighed as he landed at the edge of petalburg city. After his win in Pewter City, Raymond was forced to return home and help his family pack and go home. The annoyed trainer helped pack everything up, haul it into the truck, then they made their way to the Hoenn Region. Raymond's parents were originally going to send him back to Kanto to allow him to finish up his plan of taking down all 8 gym leaders; but Raymond decided against it.

Since I am here I might as well start with Hoenn Raymond thought as he threw on his jacket. Today was the day he would leave his home for a second time. This time for good, hopefully. He looked into the mirror and inspected his mug. "Yup still good looking as always." Raymond said stretching. A loud screech came from behind him and began to pull on his pants leg. LOoking down Raymond noticed his Bagon was pulling his leg.

"I guess you want to go train and take down the Petalburg city gym?" Baku, the Bagon nodded. Reaching for Baku, he picked up Baku and placed him on his shoulder. Baku immediately latched on to Raymond's head and began to point in the direction it wanted it's trainer to go. Raymond merely smiled and began to walk toward the forest, Baku kept an eye out on Pokemon for it to battle.

Raymond wondered what kind of encounter he would have in the forest.

Petalburg woods was the same as always. No matter the time of day it was always dark and gloomy, with the occasional Wurmple crawling about. She was much of fan of bug pokemon but there had been recent reports that there had been a swarm of pokemon in the forest and she had yet to gain a second pokemon, so was this her chance? Surely she would’ve liked an Absol or even a Totodile! Well maybe wishing for a totodile to just appear in Petlaburg Woods was a bit too much wishful thinking. Sighing she continued to watch her surroundings for atleast something she would be interested in catching.

“Huh? What is that?” She whispered to herself while squinting her eyes to get a better look at it. From where she was standing it kind of looked like a giant acorn. How odd. Taking a few steps forward she would notice that it wasn’t an acorn but a pokemon! Quickly pulling out her pokedex.

“Seedot. The Acorn Pokemon. Seedot attaches itself to a tree branch using the top of its head. It sucks moisture from the tree while hanging off the branch. The more water it drinks, the glossier this Pokémon's body becomes. ” The pokemon dex responded instantly.

She had never seen a seedot in the forest before so this could be something rare! “Okay Cindy let’s g-” Looking down she noticed Cyndaquil was nowhere to be seen. “Damn it Cindy!” She said angrily. Deciding she wasn’t going to pass out this opportunity she quickly threw a pokeball towards it hoping it would get caught. Her aim was far from good as it ricocheted off a tree, bounced on the floor launching it over the seedot’s head onto another tree, got help on its way by a loose branch and hit her square in the face causing her to fall backwards.

Raymond entered Petalburg Woods letting his Bagon point in the direction he needed to go. In his mind Raymond wondered what exactly would he encounter. From his research prior to his arrival into Hoenn he remembered that the only thing that liked to roam around Petalburg woods were the bug types and the occasional grass types. Which made perfect sense considering this was a forest and it would be surprising enough to find anything else. Though Raymond couldn't help but wanting to find something out of the ordinary.

And it seemed that the pokegods above decided to grant Raymond his wish. A small dragonfly buzzed through the air and chasing after it was a small pokemon. It looked like a small echidna, it hand small holes on it's back where fire would spew out in an attempt to allure the dragonfly only to allure Raymond and Baku.

"Is that a Cyndaquil?!?" Raymond asked pulling out his pokedex. He couldn't believe it! THat pokemon was native only in Johto. There was no way that it could be here in Hoenn, not unless the small fire mouse belonged to another trainer.

Baku didn't care much for what it was and what it was doing here. All it wanted was a battle. Baku shot itself from Raymond's head and landed in between Cyndaquil and the dragonfly. Lifting it's paw in the direction of the Cyndaquil. Baku let out a cry! It was obviously a challenge for a battle, Raymond didn't have time to stop his Bagon from challenging to Cyndaquil. He was currently sitting on his bum trying to figure out what was going on.

Gwendoline let out a load groan as she slowly sat up. “Well that was humiliating. Thankfully no one was around to witness that.” She said as she got up on her feet. Looking around she noticed that the seedot had disappeared. She could imagine the stupid smirk on its face when it witnessed what had happened to her, maybe she wasn’t cut out for this trainer thing after all. Letting out an exaggerated sigh she would brush the dirt off her clothes, fixed her hair and began to look for Cindy, where ever she was.

Cyndaquil was just about to catch the dragonfly until something jumped in between it and its prey. “Cynda?” She said cutely as she tilted her head to right. She had never seen a pokemon like that before and it wanted to challenge her to battle, unfortunately for him she didn’t really want unless her master wanted her to….. Cyndaquil quickly looked to her left and right as she had finally realized Gwen was nowhere to be seen. Instead of Gwen she had seen another human sitting on his bum, maybe the pokemon’s master? With the thought of be captured running through her mind she began to panic. “C-C-Cyndaquil!” She would quickly blow a thick smokescreen in the face of the Bagon and started running further into the forest.

Baku let out a cry as the smoke began to cover his field of vision. Baku's jaw snapped in the direction the cyndaquil but hit nothing but air. In a fit of rage, Baku began charging in the direction it thought the Cyndaquil went, unfortunately he rammed himself into a tree. Raymond couldn't help but snicker at his pokemon. He had a feeling that Baku's rash actions would get him hurt.

Baku apparently unfazed didn't like the sound of it's trainer laughing at him so he headbutted his trainer before chasing after the fire mouse. Raymond holding his stomach groaned trying to crawl behind his now running Bagon.

Just as she was about to give up searching the vast forest she noticed Cyndaquil running in her direction. Thank god! She thought as the pokemon came closer, but then she noticed the expression on her face. Was she that relieved that she had reunited with Gwen? No that wasn’t it, that look wasn’t one of relief it was more like a troubled expression, like she was trying to get away from someone or something. Was it another trainer or a pokemon? Then again why would she be running from a pokemon in this forest? She had the advantage over everything here, one flamethrower and it was good game wild pokemon! But then she noticed that it was a pokemon chasing her beloved Cyndaquil and it wasn’t any pokemon she had heard lived in the Petalburg Woods, it almost looked like a bagon… Wait it was a bagon! What the hell? Why is a bagon in the woods? Gwen thought as Cyndaquil hid behind her. Well whatever the reason it seemed pretty hostile and this would be a perfect opportunity to redeem herself!

“Let’s go Cindy! If it wants to fight so badly let’s give it an ass whooping!” Gwen declared. With her trainer edging her on Cyndaquil regained its confidence and faced the Bagon.

Baku followed behind the Cyndaquil. His nostrils flaring up in anger behind being given what looked to be the slip. To bad for the little fire mouse Baku wasn't easy to shake off, though instead of cornering the little pokemon it seemed Baku was cornered himself. Once the pokemon returned to its trainer the Cyndaquil seemed to gain some confidence. Baku wanted to laugh. Seemed the Cyndaquil had a trainer but she wasn't the only one that had a trainer. Turning it's head around his eyes widened and seem to bulge out of his skull. What he thought was his trainer that was loyally following the Bagon into battle was nothing but air.

In reality Raymond was still following Baku. Though there was only so fast and so far one could go crawling. Either way Bagon turned toward the Cyndaquil and clenched it's jaw. Baku may not have it's trainer with him at the moment, but he still had his pokemon pride. He wasn't going to run from a battle.
