PostSubject: Working with Scratch   Working with Scratch H6Q0F8zSun Apr 13, 2014 2:27 pm

Harmon walked into petalburg city, Torchic triumphantly running at his side. Torchic chirped happily when they arrived before the pokemon center. Upon replenishing themselves at the center, Harmon turned to Torchic.

"Alright little guy. Let's get in some lower level training right now." He said. Torcic puffed up his chest yet again, before overdoing it and loosing balance. After picking torchic off the ground, the went to the outskirts of the city and found a small field with a bunch of bushes. There were a few berries here and there on them. Harmon snapped his fingers and got an idea.

"Alright. Now you'll have to concentrate to knock those berries down." Harmon explained. "Use focus energy!" He yelled. Torchic complied, focusing on the individual berries on the bushes.

"Now use scratch!" He said. Torchic ran forward toward the bushes and gave a few clean scratches, knocking down some berries, which harmon picked up.

"Great work!"

The small training session earned Torchic enough experience points to level up by one, and the pair earned some Sitrus berries for their trouble. That would be good for battle recovery, or perhaps to work into poffin or pokeblock, or even for a pokepuff recipe if they felt up to the challenge! However, all of a sudden, it seemed to rain over Torchic alone! The water was in fact from a water sport attack, and if the duo were to look around, they would see a sparkling green Pokemon peering over at Torchic, using his charm attack to make the bird less wary. He was a strong level ten, balancing perfectly on his bobble tail... And it appeared that he was a rare shade of colour, too!

Harmon scooped a few berries into his bag, not really noting how many he had grabbed. When he looked up, he saw a pokemon preparing to engage him and his torchic.

"Wow! A what a strange colored pokemon!" Harmon said. He stood up. "Go on and scratch it!" he yelled. Man, Harmon was going full out with the scratch today. But it's now like torchic could do anything else at this point. With that, torchich dashed forward and aimed a scratch, only to tumblr over it's own feet... however, that served to perform another function... his stumble was aimed right at azumarils ball to knock it off it's balance.

The Azurill beamed cheekily, whipping its tail to lower Scratch's attack power, but then it dodged at the last minute, using its tail to propel itself over the fire-type. Landing on the grass behind the Torchic, Azurill aimed a water gun at the opposing Pokemon, toying with him as much as he was battling the creature!

Harmons looked distraught? Of course... a water type move. Just great! Torchic took a nice hit to the site, and was already looking fairly beat up. "Torchic! C'mon and use another scratch!" He yelled pointing forward. Torchic dashed forward, preparing it's claw for a nifty scratch... and tripped over a rock.

"Yep... we're toast."

The Azurill obviously thought the fight was brilliant fun, given that it was winning. Shimmering and shining in the sunlight, it showed no mercy, striking out with a final water gun! Torchic was surely toast, until a small Budew took the attack, shaking the water off of its little green body. It looked annoyed at the bully, and defended Harmon and Torchic with a leaf storm attack! It wasn't too powerful, because the Budew was only level two, but the point was made: it seemed Harmon had found a new ally in the nick of time!

"Whoa! A budew!" Harmon said out loud. And it had used a pretty awesome move. But this budew was clearly lower in level. It didn't do a whole heck of a lot. But now there was a new opponent for the azumaril to dodge. Maybe this would overwhelm it."Torchic, let's take advantage of this and scratch azumaril!" He yelled. Torchic ran around behind the little green water pokemon and aimed a scratch at it's tail ball.

The Azurill yelped, launching up into the air as the tail was attacked, but it clearly wasn't having anything. It used this to bring a great force, aiming a jet of bubbles at Torchic as it came in for landing. At the same time, Budew was using absorb to recover what little health had been picked away by the water gun.

"Torchic! Dodge it!" Harmon yelled. As such a close range, it was difficult to dodge something like that, however torchic took a quick sidestep. He really needed that budew to come through. Torchic probably couldn't take another hit. "C'mon..."

If Harmon was waiting for that Budew to finish Azurill, he was risking his Torchic by choosing to wait a while. Azurill barely saw the Budew as a threat, which was a mistake on its part perhaps, but it meant that all of the focus was on finishing Torchic off. It landed, bouncing up again, and went for another chute of water gun!

The water gun was a direct his. Unfortunately for torchic. Torchic teetered a bit, and fell to began to slouch. "C'mon! Focus... focus..." He said under his breath. Torchic must have heard him becuase that's what he did. He began to focus on the Azumaril, bringing itself into it enough to pull another scratch attack.

((You need to stop writing Azumarill, dude. Big difference. It would have floored your Torchic by now and Budew in final form.))

The scratch attack landed, and it was enough to bring the formidable baby down into the low, but even with the wild Budew's assistance the other just wasn't strong enough to finally bring it down. Azurill used the close combat as a sure fire finisher, blasting a water gun straight for the bird before wheeling round onto Budew, doing the same. It wasn't very effective, but enough to fling the ally back. Azurill was losing interest, and once Torchic was done with, would probably just leave.

Harmon stepped forward. "No!" He yelled as torchic crumpled to the ground. It had fainted. Dang it. He ran forward to his friend, not caring whether or not the Marill hit him or not. He took out his pokeball and returned his torchic, to spare it from further harm. He then looked up to see if the either the budew or marill were still there.

[color=hotpink]((Wrong again... It's an Azurill... Please actually pay attention to my posts, or what's the point in modding these things...?))

Whipping his tail mockingly and sticking out his tongue at Harmon, the elusive Azurill bounced away, leaving the worn out Budew with the trainer. Neither Pokemon had earned experience, meaning that the menace had boosted in power and then left them in the proverbial dust. "Bud, bud, budew?" It asked, turning to look at the distressed human. Budew had never seen a trainer in that kind of trouble before, and was surprised at the outcome. Usually trainers beat and captured wild Pokemon, they never ever fell victim to them.

Harmon looked down at the little budew. Why was it so concerned for him? It wasn’t the time to ask. His torchic was in bad shape. “Thanks for the help little guy. I have to run and help my friend here.” He said holding up the pokeball and then holding it close. He ran hurriedly back to town and to the pokemon center, not even bothering to see if the budew was following him. He handed it to the nurse and relaxed against the wall.

Budew had begun to follow, but with its teeny little legs, couldn't really keep up. It felt sad, beginning to cry as it wandered the path to the city, hiding whenever predators or other trainers came along to avoid getting snagged. Budew wanted to know if they were alright, and hoped that maybe the human and bird would come back the way they had left. They were okay, weren't they...?

Harmon received his torchic back and released it. It shook and poofed its downy feathers a bit to stretch and cheeped out. "Sorry about that Torchic. The odds were really stacked against us there." He apologized as he strolled from the Pokemon center, Torchic running behind him.

Torchic looked around and then cheeped happily. It saw the budew from before out of the corner of it's eyes. It sounded out and ran off towards it.

"Torchic! Where are you- oh!" He said as torchic stumbled at the feet of the budew.

Budew jumped when she heard the sound of the Torchic, looking round towards him and cheering with relief when she learned that the call indeed belonged to the one that she had helped. Playfully, Budew jumped around him, glad that it had recovered from its miserable state, and careful not to initiate another awful one via accidental poison point. "Budew, budew!" She greeted Torchic and Harmon, obviously unafraid of the two.

"Well hey there." Harmon said walking over to the Budew. "Did you follow us all the way back to town?" He asked kneeling down to his torchic and the budew. "Do you need help getting back to the forest?"

Harmon was concerned for the little thing. It was all alone, and didn't seem to have anyone looking after it.

Budew nodded at the first question. but at the second, she shook her little form in decline. It wasn't hard to find her way back, Pokemon generally had a decent sense of direction for these things. More than anything, she thought Harmon needed looking after. Apparently, Torchic wasn't enough to protect him, and he wasn't the greatest at the battle thing. Not that she was-- but wasn't that what a trainer was supposed to do? Train Pokemon to access their full potential? "Budew, dew dew bud."

Wait... why would the budew follow them all the way back to town... unless... "Do you want to come with us?" He asked the little green pokemon. This little thing wasn't the strongest, but Harmon could use all the help he could get, and this plucky little budew seemed to be able to raise their spirits.

"Bud, budew!" Budew nodded happily. It was a good plan, thinking it through. This trainer seemed nice enough, even if not the strongest, but there was also more strength in a trio than a duo, so it would all work out just fine. She jumped up a few times on the spot, expectant, "Bud, budd, budew. Budew dew dew~" She introduced, not that Harmon would necessarily understand.

Harmon nodded excitedly. Now he was going to get some help in the form of this little green budew. He reached into his bag and reached for a pokeball. "This is just a formality. This won't hurt a bit." He said rolling the ball up to Budew, allowing him to attempt to capture the little guy.

Budew hadn't seen one of these for herself before, but she had heard all sorts of things about them. Not everything was good, but presumably, the Torchic had a ball of his own, so now it was her turn. "Bud, budew." The grass baby nodded, running over and into the ball, which swallowed her up with ease. Surprisingly, it rocked four times before finally settling, the Budew perhaps so shocked by the experience that she'd struggled before settling down.

Harmon picked up the ball, and threw it up in the air to let out Budew. "Come on out!" He yelled. The ball popped open and Budew came out. "Well then. I think we should go and train some more. I'd like to see what you can do." He said walking with budew and torchic back to their original training spot.

"Now I want to see what else you can do. If you have any attacks other than leafstorm, use it on that rock!" He said dramatically pointing to a small boulder in the clearing. His torchic was there to watch.
