Starting New Journeys!

Proto walked through the town nervously, feeling uneasy about being in an entirely different region scared the aura out of him. For reassurance, he had his partner, Combusken, out of its pokeball to have something that reminded him of home in this alien world. The professor had told him that he should find Professor Sycamore to update his pokedex and get a starter pokemon for that region.

His boat had been late to bring him to the region due to some technical failures, so now the sky was a bright orange, and the town was quieter than he'd imagined. "Hopefully I'm not late...agh, that would be the worst!" Proto opened a map he had gotten from the tour guide, and sighed, "Too bad they don't list Sycamore's lab here."

His combusken started poking him, trying to gain his attention while pointing over to a building. When he looked over to it, he saw a lab assistant outside relaxing, probably on break, "Oh, nice one, Combusken! Let's go ask that guy if he knows Sycamore!" He walked up to the guy and asked his question, but the man just sighed and pressed a button on the door. It slid open, revealing a large lab where hopefully Proto could find what he'd been looking for.

Inside the lab there was a large mass of special equipment for all purposes and to be honest it was any scientist or researchers dream to work there. Soon though a voice could be heard from inside the lab
"Charles find me the bio on the trainers that are coming today please"
Professor Sycamore running into view and then quickly out of it again looking a bit flustered; it seemed that he was running late too.

Proto's eyes lit up when he looked at all the pokemon-related equipment around Sycamore's lab, his local professor didn't have nearly as much equipment as this place did, plus it smelled strangely like croissants. Combusken pointed his claw over to a gap in the bookshelves, where a flustered-looking professor was running in and out of view, "Huh, I wonder what his deal is. C'mon, let's go give him a hand!"

When they rounded the corner, Proto heard the clinking of test tubes and smelled the chemicals that would one day become potions. He waved to the professor and smiled, trying to make a good impression, "Hi, I'm Proto Manson! Need any help?" Combusken crossed her arms and sighed at the unprofessional professor, but nodded in agreement.

The Professor looked to Proto and said
"Why hello there if.. you'd.. just.. give.. me.. a.. second.."
whilst fiddling with various bits and pieces. After this he wiped his hands on his lab coat and ran his hand through his hair continuing with
"Now I'm guessing you're one of the new trainers here to get a pokemon"
then noticing Combusken and saying
"Well new to the region at least"
leading the way through a room which was regularly used for the distribution of pokemon and as, planned there were three pokemon on the table; Professor Sycamore talking Proto through his choices.

He then made his way towards the table indicating to each
"Now then, these are the three starter pokemon native to our region and they are"
holding his hand towards a small blue frog he continued
"This is the water type starter - Froakie the Bubble Frog Pokemon"
Froakie nodding to Proto as, the Prof then, stepped in behind a small fox saying
"This is the fire type starter - Fennekin the Fox Pokemon"
Fennekin bowing to Proto before, the Prof finished up by stepping in behind a small chipmunk
"and finally This is the grass type starter - Chespin the Spiny Nut Pokemon"
Chespin tapped his fist on his chest powerfully and with that the Prof asked
"So, then who shall it be, Froakie, Fennekin or Chespin"
leaning on the desk whilst, awaiting a reply; Charles, one of the lab assistants running in handing him a tablet-like device containing information on the other two new trainers who would be stopping by for their pokemon as well, Charles then leaving Professor Sycamore to read the bios.

Proto nodded and waited for the professor to finish his work while Combusken sat on the floor, leaning against a bookshelf to catch some Zs. When the professor began to introduce the three starters, Proto looked over each of them carefully. To the untrained eye, it would just look like he was being picky, but to an aura trainer or an experienced person they could see the truth that he was looking at their auras.

The Froakie didn't seem to interesting to him, although it was originally going to be his pick, it just didn't have the kind of tough, fun personality he was looking for. The Fennekin was out of the question, although he would try to catch one later, right now he already had a fire type that suited his needs perfectly. The Chespin's aura bursted with life however, as it was a very confident and tough pokemon, "I'll take this one!"

He picked up the chipmunk pokemon and hugged it close as it snuggled against him lovingly, "Oh yeah, could you upgrade my pokedex as well? I need some extra spaces for the pokemon in the Kalos region!" He held out his pokedex with a note that would tell the professor about his mission to capture all the Kalos pokemon for the Hoenn's research.

"Sure." The professor nodded, taking the pokedex. He kept down the bio and moved over to the desk. After a moment of fiddling around, he returned to Proto, holding out his device. "It's upgraded. Now, any questions?" He slid the bio over the table to himself and started reading again.

Proto shook his head as the Chespin crawled up to his shoulder and smiled, its one tooth gleaming with pride, "Not really...actually, do you know a good place to start? Chespin here's gonna need some training before we start to catch all the different pokemon here! Right, buddy?" Proto grabbed the pokedex and flipped it open, recording Chespin's information while he nodded and said, "Yup yup!" The young aura trainer smiled coyly, since nobody else could understand Chespin, but he'd have to tell the pokemon later. Combusken woke up and walked over to the two, looking at the Chespin with disapproval, Hmph...it's still wet behind the ears. You sure this is the one, Proto?"

"Santalune is always a good place to start..." Murmured the professor as he moved over to a large map hung on the wall. He pointed to the aforementioned city. "Or this city, Lumiose, is fine too." He nodded thoughtfully.

Proto nodded and pulled out two pokeballs, returning both his pokemon, "Alright, thanks! I'm gonna head out now, but I'll come back if I need anything!" He quickly ran out the door, a breath of fresh air going into his lungs.
