The Irvines: Chapter 1: The First Step to Glory and Retaliation Empty
PostSubject: The Irvines: Chapter 1: The First Step to Glory and Retaliation   The Irvines: Chapter 1: The First Step to Glory and Retaliation H6Q0F8zSun Sep 22, 2013 5:49 am

"...and always remember to take care of him, okay? You know how crazy your little brother can be," finished the Irvine siblings mother's long "take-care-of-yourselves" speech with a bittersweet smile on her face.

As a mother, she feels sad and worried that her sons would embark on a very dangerous yet exciting journey throughout Sinnoh. It has been three years since the murder of her eldest son - Brock Irvine. Indeed it has been quite a long time but the memory, horror and trauma remain on their heart and minds. Not to mention the mysterious disappearance of her husband two years before Brock's murder. Is the disappearance and murder related? They can not tell.

"'Crazy'? 'Adventurous' would be a better word to describe it," joked Chad - the fresh Pokémon Trainer who received the Sinnoh Grass-type starter from Professor Rowan just days ago. A ten-year old who is ready to do heroic acts without regret. He's also the stereotypical Trainer with dreams of someday becoming the champion of his region. Though secretly, he wishes to find his brother's killer and avenge the death. That won't be enough for him. He has plans of retaliation towards whatever and whoever is behind the criminal act; however powerful and big the opposition is.

"Heehee! Don't worry, mama. You can trust me," ensured Rina Irvine - Chad's older sister and guardian throughout his journey. A very successful and nearly perfect girl, though treats humbly those who are below her level. Her pet Vaporeon decided to go with her and prefers to stay outside her Poké Ball to enjoy every second of seeing the beauty of Sinnoh. She will never battle though.

A few minutes have passed since the goodbyes ended and the siblings find themselves searching around the grassy areas for an enemy: Chad's first enemy. With his Turtwig excited but patiently waiting to be sent out from his Poké Ball, any opponent better not underestimate the rookies. The Trainer-Starter relationship is not "that" strong yet, they have more to discover about each other. With this journey, their relationship should develop.

What or who would be this exciting first opponent for them to take down? Is it a wild Pokémon or also a rookie Trainer?

It was a pokemon, rather for a double battle for both the siblings to participate.

((So I was typing my 400-word and counting reply when I accidentally hit a key on the laptop keyboard which made the browser go back to the last page I visited and my long reply disappeared like a bubble. I hate when it happens. Anyway, unless you didn't know, Rina is not a Pokémon Trainer and will never battle. Also, Chad's Turtwig is only a Level 5.

Also, since you didn't specify how the wild Pokémon appeared, that means I can control how they appear. Just in case you say I'm controlling a character I shouldn't be.))

A bush not far from the siblings rustles and catches their attention. They turn their heads to it expecting for something to come out. Out jumps a wild Mienfoo. Mienfoo is a yellow, bipedal, mustelid-like Pokémon, with round ears, red eyes, round black ‘eyebrows,’ and pink nose with a whisker on each side. Its red arms look similar to flared sleeves, and the paws are yellow. Mienfoo’s chest has a small red band, and its pelt piles around its thighs like a tunic or robe of some sort. Its legs are red, and its yellow tail is also tipped in the color.

Another Pokémon comes out from the same bush. A wild Misdreavus hovers and literally passes through the leaves and positions itself beside the Mienfoo. Misdreavus is a dark bluish-green, ghost-like Pokémon. While it has no visible arms or legs, its lower half has several small appendages and resembles a ruffled dress. It has a several round, red gems around its neck, which are used to absorb fear as nourishment. It has long, flowing lilac-tipped "hair". Misdreavus's large eyes have yellow sclera with red irises.

Two wild Pokémon stand before them. Though the Ghost Pokémon might not be "standing" in a traditional way but he still is, in a way. This kind of scenario calls for a double Pokémon Battle. However, since Chad's big sister is not a Pokémon Trainer, Chad and Turtwig will have to fight by themselves only. Rina takes a few steps back served as a sign that she has allowed her little brother to fight.

"It's your first Pokémon battle, good luck. Be careful though, you're outnumbered. Also, watch out for the Mienfoo. It looks much stronger than your Turtwig." Rina commented. "Anyway, isn't Misdreavus a nocturnal Pokémon? What's it doing in the day," the baffled Rina expressed.

"Mienfoo, you're too strong for us so I'll leave you alone. However, I'm a Pokémon Trainer and it's normal for me to fight wild Pokémon. Misdreavus, I challenge you to a Pokémon Battle. But before we fight, may I know why you're out here when the sun is shining bright?" Chad said.

(Doesn't she have a Vaporeon? Also, yeah. I was drowsy at that time. Sorry. Your post is perfectly fine.)

Misdrevus shrugged as best as it could. Just ruffling up the forest for a snack. Mienfoo seemed to be it's companion as it was accompanying it around.

((Yes, she does. This tells me you don't check Trainer Apps :D. It's a Level 2 Vaporeon and it's her pet. Pet, not her gladiator.))

"How cute," Rina said with a smile on her face. The sweet smile that has won the hearts of the boys in her school.

"I see. Well, shall we start fighting now," Chad asked. He's not a prick or an unwanted a-hole but it's just his strong personality that usually makes people think he's a reckless, unschooled bully. His right index finger poked a Poké Ball that is attached to his belt. It shot a red beam towards the ground and the beam formed into an aura which formed a silhouette of a Turtwig.

The Tiny Leaf Pokémon allowed his eyes to observe the two Pokémon in front of him from head to toe. He smiles at the strangers being the friendly type he is. The shell on his back is moist and the two small leaves from the small seedling on the brown patch on its head is the most green among the leaves of tall trees, grass and bushes that surround. It indicates that he is very healthy and more than ready for anything; aside from the powerful Mienfoo. The huge amount of water he drank from the pond in Twinleaf was the reason why his shell is so moist. As a plant-based Pokémon, he nourishes himself through photosynthesis. Currently, he's absorbing even more nutrients all thanks to the bright sunlight.

(Okay, okay. My bad. :3)

Misdreavus dipped it's head in a sort of a bow, never taking it's eyes off it's opponent. The orbs around it's neck glowed faintly as it shook up the ruffled appendages in the lower half of it's body. It hovered there, wondering if it should make the first move. It decided to. It's eyes glowed magenta, vaguely matching the coloured tips of it's 'hair' as it raised it's face to the sky and suddenly the space around it grew distorted. Misdreavus returned it's gaze to Turtwig with a sharp snap and sent several pink, glowing rings at the Tiny Leaf pokemon. Psywave.

((Yes, it is. Now you're grounded. GO TO YOUR ROOM! *hides Flame's cell phone, gadgets, etc.*))

Yay! Magical adorable rainbow loopy rings! No wait, it's not. Explosion. Turtwig's hit and was thrown to the sky. He kept tumbling in mid-air before finally landing to the ground. "Huh? We good? Why didn't you move at all, Turtwig? I get it, this is your first battle. Can't blame you, but we have to give it our best! Raise your spirit up, dude. Ta-"

SNAP!

Chad paused and with a shock on his face, remembered that Turtwig is a Level 5. That means, he only has two attacks to choose from: Tackle or Withdraw. Tackle is the only offensive move Turtwig has in his arsenal and it's a Normal-type move that will do nothing against the Ghost-type opponent. It would be embarrassing to back down from this battle. It will hurt his dignity as a Pokémon Trainer. Having it as an occupation means that a person must know what he's doing. Thank the heavens this is not a gym battle or any other history-making battle.

"Um... The thing is... Er, dust off. Misdreavus, I'm very sorry for this but I'm afraid I may have to surrender and declare you as the victor. I didn't realize earlier that we don't have anything we can hit you with. My Turtwig only has a Tackle and you're a Ghost-type."

With a big gulp, he swallowed his pride. At least, he's able to do it for a comrade. Turtwig walked beside Chad and smiled at that realization. He didn't realize it as well. Chad turns around and looks his sister in the eye. "Sis, how come you didn't remind me," he asked with annoyance.

His sister replies with a teasing giggle. "I shouldn't. You're a Pokémon Trainer. You're supposed to be able to carry yourself."

Wow. So she knew it all along. "But sis, you said it's your purpose to help me," Chad replied with confusion. "Helping you as my brother. Not as a Pokémon Trainer. It's a different story and they are two very different things. Come now, don't give me that look. You should be happy for in bad things come lessons," she replied before giving a heart-warming smile.

"Okay... Tough pill to swallow for me," Chad said and looked down towards his Turtwig. "Sorry, friend. I hope your trust in me is not misplaced." Turtwig smiles at him letting Chad know that the Pokémon understands him. Chad sets his eyes back to Misdreavus and Mienfoo as he wait for their response.

(;~; In any case, I do not have a cell phone. 12 year olds do not get phones. At least not me. *sniff* My friends got them at class five and stuff. And I'm not getting one for another 3 years, that's when I'm in 11th. Sadness. Overwhelming sadness. The Irvines: Chapter 1: The First Step to Glory and Retaliation Kaos-pinkusagi14)

Misdreavus let out a disappointed gurgle of a coo and disappeared. Mienfoo jumped and landing in a bush, left a trail of rustling foliage, marking it's course as it ran speedily. The two siblings were left alone without any furthur ado.
