The ways of the sea (mod/open)

Peregrine stretched her arms, sighing in relief when she felt something pop. She'd been at sea for the last couple of hours, driving her grandpa's old fishing boat all by herself. Fortunately for her, the weather was sunny was the sea was calm. Maybe it was precisely because of the nice weather that her grandpa had let her out on his boat alone.

Well, regardless of his reasons, she had chores to finish and couldn't dawdle any longer. Her mother had given her a package that needed to be delivered to the Pokémon Center in Mossdeep. She'd already taken enough time when she stopped the boat to watch a passing Wailord. 'Now that's something you don't see every day.'

Anchoring the boat and making sure everything was in its rightful place, Peregrine jumped over the railing and landed with a dry 'thump' on the island of Mossdeep. Looking over her shoulder, Peregrine frowned.

"Come on, Keeran, we can't be late! Or later, anyway..."

The Psyduck wobbled over to the railing and somehow managed to push himself over it. Before his clumsy feet slipped and he fell, Peregrine stepped forward and grabbed him, earning a confused 'psy?'.

"Honestly," she huffed good-naturedly, ruffling Psyduck's feathers, "where would you be without me?"

The island of Mossdeep was as exotic as Peregrine's hometown of Lilycove, in her opinion. The vegetation was lush and wild where it hadn't been bulldozed away to make way for pavement and houses. The beaches were somewhat different from those of Lilycove: the ocean floor didn't suddenly drop from under you; instead, it slowly dropped into the abyss. The shallow waters were the perfect paradise for many tourists and locals alike.

Peregrine shook her head in exasperation as Keeran started splashing in the shallow waters, obviously having found something interesting.

'Well, I'm not that late anyway.' Plus, now that she was in Mossdeep she should seize the moment and have a bit of fun, right?
