A New Adventure

I walked into Pallet Town, Absol striding by side. I heard this was the place to go if you wanted to get a Pokedex, which would be useful since I had never seen most of the Pokemon in this region. I also wanted to know more about this League challenge I had heard of. The town seemed pretty quiet and peaceful.
I saw a large building, and headed in that direction.
Professor Oak's Lab
I read the sign posted outside. Yep, this was it. I pushed open the doors and walked into a lab, Absol sniffing curiously.

The building was large, the walls and floor were white and sanitized much like how you would imagine a hospital, yet the lighting was somewhat dim, a few florescent bulbs hung from the ceiling, but natural light was scarce in the large 1 room building. This single room was lined with machinery, in a few dark corners sat people, the entirety of their attention was on whatever document sat in front of them. From the back of the lab an older man looks up at you, a gleeful smile crossing his face. "Why hello, and welcome to my lab. I'm professor Oak, what might your name be?" He asked as casual as possible. The professor sat behind a larger looking table, 3 red and white balls were spread out in front of him.

I looked around, then turned as an old man calls to me. "Oh, er, hello. I'm Lilli... I heard you were the one I had to go to if I wanted a Pokedex." I looked at the table he was seated at and saw the three red and white spheres sitting on the polished white surface. "Um... What are those?"

Completely ignoring your question about the Pokeballs scattered out on the table he raised his arms to the air exuberantly. "It's a pleasure to meet you!" He shouted back. Without saying anything else he took out a pen and a small sketch book. He began to frantically squiggle things into it before looking back up at you cynically, his eyes sharp and criticizing this time. "Hm.." He began in a deep hum. "And might you be a Boy or a Girl?" The Professor asked over dramatically.

I blinked at the seeming obvious question. As you can see, I'm obviously a boy. I thought sarcastically, but kept it to myself. "I'm a girl." I answered. Then I watched as he scribbled in his little note pad. The Prof seemed nice enough, I decided, even if he did have a flair for drama. Absol nudged at my leg with her horn boredly, and I shot her a quick glance, warning her to be patient.

The professor nodded his head vigorously before he began to act as if he was seemingly flooded with work. He threw the notepad and pen to the side of the room and threw his hands into the air viciously before they fell back down. "Right..." He began to say, it was as if he was in a hurry but trying to remember what he was going to say. "You are going to take on the Gym leader correct? Then let me give you a Pokedex!" He said happily, as if it was a breakthrough in science. He hastily walked over to his death and yanked a red PDA type device off of it. Professor Oak went back to where the three red balls were sitting on the table. He waves you over to him. "Come, quickly." With an open palm he signaled to the three red orbs. "Please, take the PokeDex, and one of the three Kanto starters." He suggested to her. The Professor hastily collected the three balls before setting them across the table, in a neat and orderly line.

Personality: Bulbasaur is incredibly shy. Because of this he tends to try and avoid other Pokemon, only really bonding with his trainer.

Ball 2 contains Charmander!

Gender: Male
Moves: Scratch, Growl.
Ability: Blaze
Personality: Charmander is an outgoing Pokemon. Being a trickster at heart he will often try and play pranks on his fellow Pokemon or on trainers.

Ball 3 contains Squirtle!
Level: 5
Gender: Male
Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip.
Ability: Torrent.
Personality: Squirtle is an active and very social Pokemon. He enjoys moving and will often run around just for fun.

I had to bite my lip to keep myself from laughing at the Prof's antics. Then I looked down at three balls. "Hm..." I mused. Which one should I pick? Finally making a decision, I picked up one. "I'll take Charmander." I pressed on the button, and the orange Pokemon popped out in front of me. I thought it looked pretty cute.

the professor gave a happy nod, a large closed mouth smile quickly pursued. "Perfect, now get started on that adventure. And go ahead and call me if you need any help!" The professor turned away from you, his hands flying about as he collected papers from his desk and scribbled a storm of words onto them. "Oh, and you should give your new friend a name." He noted, his back still turned.

I smiled at the little orange Pokemon. "I think I'm going to call you... Ryken." Ryken blinked, seemilng to like the name. "Char!" I smiled and picked up Charmander. "Thank you, Professor!" I said gratefully. After thanking the Prof, I headed outside with Charmander back in its Poke Ball and Absol trotting by my side.

To the north of the town was a path way, commonly known as route 1. From outside of the professors lab you could notice a thin curving path, beside it was some incredibly tall grass, as if it hadn't been mowed in at least a year. A couple of the strands of grass wobbled in the windless sky, small Pokemon obviously messing around near the base of it. However there was something else wrong, as if in an instant a cry was yelped out. It sounded like a small child, maybe crying out for help from somewhere on Route 1, of course the source of the noise was invisible through the tall grass. You could go check it out, or you could just as easily move on, ignoring the out cry and get on with your adventure.

Absol's head went up, hearing an odd cry. I looked in its direction. What ever it was, it sounded distresed. I couldn't just leave it. "Lets go, Absol." I said, then started off quickly in the cry's direction.

the source of the cry was a small boy, he was around the age of six. He was wearing blue shorts and a dull yellow shirt, his short brown hair flew around wildly as if it had not been brushed in weeks. There were random splotches of dirt on him as if he had been thrown into the ground. His hands were covering his face as tears ran down the sides of his cheeks. Circling him were 3 Spearows. One of them was exceptionally large compared to the other two.

"I'm coming!" I call to the kid, seeing the three Spearow. "Ryken!" I throw it's Poke Ball, releasing the Pokemon. "Use Growl!" I order, then look at Absol. "Absol, use Quick attack!"
"Char!" Charmander cried out loudly, trying to startle the bird Pokemon.
Absol charged towards them, aiming for the largest of the three.

All three of the birds look up at your Pokemon hungrily. The largest of the Spearows (which I will call #1 for the sake of simplicity. ) flew upwards to avoid the Absols charging attack. It immediatly locked its eyes back onto the source of the growling. With a few strong blasts from his wings he began to spiral downwards at the Charmander, its beak moving in and out like a piston.

Meanwhile, Spearow #2 (Male ) and #3 (Female) Flew down onto each side of Absol as to keep it trapped between the two. Spearow #2 began to flap its wings furiously from the ground as to try and intimidate Absol. Spearow #3 charged at Absol from behind, its beak outward to try and stab at the Pokemon.

"Char?-" Ryken looked up, and stumbled back only too late to avoid Spearow #1's attack. It flew back from the strong blow, crashing to the ground. "Ryken!" I called, and it stood back up, growling at the Spearow. "Use Scratch!" Ryken ran towards the Spearow #1, raising up its claws in prepairation to attack.

Absol ignored the Spearow #2, not being easily intimidated. It instead whirled around, as I yelled, "Absol! Turn around and use Faint Attack!", and charged the Pokemon already flying at it.

Spearow #3 had not expected the Absol to know of its attack, unable to defend the Spearow flew headlong into the attack, flying backwards as it fell from the sky like the rock, the force of Absols impact having caused it to lose balance. Spearow #2 took the oppurtunity to run at Absol with a Peck attack.

Spearow # 1 puffed its chest out proudly as his hit connected with Charmander, his ego blinding him from the Pokemon that was not launging at him with its claws. As soon as he noticed the Charmander attacking him he tried to jump out of its path, his attemp to dodge a few moments to late as the sharp claws raked across his wings. The Spearow looked at his wing for a moment in surprise before hopping into the air, his wings flapping wildly in a terrible attempt to fly. He gave up, releazing the wound had crippled his flight, he instead settled for charging at Charmander with Peck.
