Note: This is an alternate timeline than the original series.
With the Fire Nation waging war against the other three nations, the Avatar has completely vanished from the world. Though the other nations are holding strong, the Fire Nation seems to be overwhelming the other nations using strength, brutal and cruel tactics, and complete destruction. The Water Tribes and Earth Kingdom seem determined to fight the Fire Nation back, while the Air Nomads remain neutral and away from the conflict. Without an Avatar to stop the war, the world will crumble under the Fire Nation.
Though every side has their own heroes, the Avatar will ultimately decide the tide of the war during their journey to become an awakened Avatar, who ever they may be. Until the Avatar reveals themselves, it is up to the heroes of the Earth Kingdom, Water Tribe, and Air Nomads to protect the world from the fires of war.
Fire Nation Heroes: Fire Lord NPC - A brutal man who believe that no one is fit to rule the world, except for him. The Fire Nation was remade to prepare for the conquest of the other Nations, and their freedoms became limited and many people suffered due to the militarization of the Fire Nation's land.
Water Tribe Heroes: Northern Tribe Chief - A man who will do whatever it takes to preserve the Northern Water Tribe. He believes that the Avatar is long dead to the world and is willing to fight with the Earth Kingdom against the Fire Nation. Southern Tribe Chief - A woman who is a strong-willed warrior. She is a legend amongst the Water Tribes and leads the Southern Water Tribe in a path of self-defense against the Fire Nation. She is willing to send aid to the Northern Water Tribe, such as healers.
Earth Kingdom Heroes: Earth King - A man who follows the rules of Earthbending. The principle of jing, and is unwilling to simply surrender to the Fire Nation. He seems to hate the Air Nomads for their refusal to join the war effort.
Air Nomad Heroes: Air Nomad Leader - The leader of all four Air Temples. He leads a council that decides their course of actions throughout the war. He isn't hesitant to fight in the war, but due to the lifestyle of the Air Nomads, he cannot commit his people to the war, and instead promotes pacifism.
Types of Bending:
Firebending
Spoiler:
Firebenders use their internal body heat as a source for their bending. This facet of firebending is a sharp contrast to the other bending arts, which manipulate already present sources of their element, though firebenders can also control or enhance flames nearby. Unlike other bending disciplines, firebending has few defensive moves aside from blocking and dodging, although master firebenders are able to create walls of fire to absorb incoming attacks or shoot down approaching projectiles.
Firebending uses concentrated barrages of fire to overwhelm opponents before striking a fatal blow. Swift, whirling kicks and punches generate diverse shapes for offensive attacks. This strategy is probably what makes firebending arguably the most suited to pro-bending out of all the bending arts. Firebending tactics and forms have required little modification for use in pro-bending, the most noticeable difference in the restriction on the use of prolonged fire streams. Nevertheless, quick flurries of kicks and punches allow a pro-bending firebender to retain excellent mobility around the arena while simultaneously trying to push back the members of the opposing team.
Circular motion is also a crucial element to the skill as it seems to "power up" and enhance the firebender's flames. When creating lightning, the firebenders often move their arms in slow, circular motions, similar to waterbenders but with more tension. As said before, firebenders often use whirling kicks or punches to create arcs, or just to power their bending.
Sub 1 - Lightning Generation and Lightning redirection. Generating lightning involves a circular motion with the arms. Mentally, it involves a complete absence of emotion and peace of mind, and physically it requires separating the energies of yin and yang, also interpreted as positive and negative electric potential respectively. When the yin and yang collide together to become whole again, lightning is created, with the bender only guiding, rather than controlling, the lightning's direction. Because of this complexity, a lightning attack usually takes much longer to initiate than standard fire attacks.
Redirecting lightning deals with the flow of energy in a firebender's body and turning an opponent's energy against them, a technique waterbenders use in battle. The person redirecting it must create a pathway from fingertips, up the arm to the stomach, then up and out the other arm. The stomach is referred to as "the sea of chi", as it is the source of energy in the body. It is essential that the lightning pass through the stomach, as if the lightning passes through the heart, the effects could be fatal. A physical motion may help focus the energy flow in the path through the body. Lightning can be successfully redirected regardless of whether the source is natural or generated.
Earthbending
Spoiler:
Earthbending is one of the most diverse of the bending arts, ranging from the most commonly used earthbending-the rigid and collectively learned earthbending of the Dai Li-and the individually taught styles, such as Toph's unique earthbending technique. Earthbenders are generally muscular, tough and direct, and like all benders their technique reflects on their individual personalities. With the advent of pro-bending, earthbenders have learned to adapt fighting styles that are more suited to a fast-paced pro-bending match. Most earthbenders participating in pro-bending have learned to keep mobile and only root themselves when it is time to attack, and even then only long enough to actually launch and direct the earth discs provided in the arena. Bolin's earthbending is typical of the style used within the arena, although he has exhibited some of the more traditional forms and movements when outside of it.
Earthbending differs from the other bending arts in that it maintains a distinct balance between offensive and defensive capabilities (though waterbending involves a more refined version by channeling defense into offense). Earthbending uses a balance of strength and defense to overwhelm opponents.
The principle of jing is the essence of battle strategy of all bending arts, with a total of eighty-five possible actions. Positive jing occurs when one chooses to fight, while negative jing is when one chooses to evade. The earthbending discipline stresses neutral jing, which involves listening, waiting and attacking at the right moment.
Sub 1 - Seismic Sense. The first and foremost of seismic sense's applications is the ability to perceive surroundings. By sensing vibrations in the ground, earthbenders can perceive their surroundings as precisely as normal sight, and in some cases with even greater clarity. The advantage of the sense over normal sight is that practitioners are able to pick up things that are barely visible or even imperceptible to the naked eye as well as things out of their line of sight. Obstacles that would normally obstruct regular vision, such as walls and thick dust clouds, are rendered ineffective against seismic sense. Seismic sense does not only provide surface vision, as the vibrations also travel underground, enabling the user to effectively detect caverns and other deep subterranean cavities
Seismic sense is not without its limitations. The practitioner must always be in direct contact with solid earth to use the sense at all and the ability only detects things if they are in contact with the same mass of earth the user is contacting, or made of earthen materials. Non-earthen objects floating in water or thrown into the air are undetectable, unless by extrapolation from the detected positions of the launching point. If the user is in the air or water, or even standing on a non-earth solid such as ice, the bender will be unable to sense anything through that substance. Although allowing the user to detect their surroundings in detail, the sub-skill does not allow for perception of facial features or written characters, due to the fact that they are not made of or in contact with earth.
Sand, although an earthern substance, is not firm like normal earth, and renders seismic sense "fuzzy" and very imprecise for earthbenders who are not used to bending it. Uninterrupted contact with the ground is preferred for the user - an object such as a shoe sole interferes with the sense
Sub 2 - Metalbending. Metalbending is a specialized sub-skill of earthbending that allows an earthbender to ferrokinetically bend processed metal in a similar fashion to bending regular earth.
Waterbending
Spoiler:
Waterbending's strength is its great versatility. Rather than supporting a separate set of offensive methods, waterbending employs defensive techniques that can be transformed into attacks and counters - defense into offense. Instead of simply deflecting an attack, waterbending's defensive maneuvers focus on control, achieved through turning an opponent's own strength against them, rather than directly harming the opponent.
Sub 1 - Bloodbending. The forms and styles used by bloodbenders resemble how a puppeteer controls a marionette. Whereas waterbending uses flowing motions with the arms, bloodbending seems to require a more rigid and abrupt form of movement, further highlighting how different it is from the primary waterbending forms and its other sub-skill, healing.
Due to its extreme nature, only a handful of waterbenders have demonstrated the ability to bloodbend. The technique is deemed by most waterbenders to be a dark art and is rarely used in combat. The complexity and sophistication required to perform the art usually only allows for its use during a full moon, when a waterbender's power is at its absolute peak.
Sub 2 - Healing. Involves healing wounds by redirecting energy paths (or chi) throughout the body, using water as a catalyst. In rare occasions, waterbenders may instinctively be able to access this ability without any formal training, even able to heal themselves.
Airbending
Spoiler:
Air is the element of freedom.[1] The Air Nomads detached themselves from worldly problems and concerns; finding peace and freedom was the key to solving their difficulties in life. Airbenders continually sought spiritual enlightenment, and, as a result, all children born into the Air Nomads were benders. The first airbenders learned their art from the flying bison.
The key to airbending is flexibility and finding and following the path of least resistance. Airbending is notable for being almost purely defensive, as well as the most dynamic of the four bending arts. Airbenders can overwhelm many opponents at once with large and powerful attacks that could prove fatal; however, due to the pacifist nature of the Air Nomads, such attacks are rarely used. Due to aforementioned spirituality, they often adapt to the situation surround them and prefer to dodge an opponent instead of a direct attack.
Choose your side and sway the tide of war in either side.

Myin was always treated badly for being a Firebender, but she never hated people for it. She understood why they were angry and allowed herself to get hurt. Of course, Myin still has a bit of a short-temper and willl lash out at anyone who does something rude to her for no particular reason, but she'll also help out those in need, no matter who it is. I don't really see how there'd be any difference, but you aren't Aang, who was able to be a master because he was the avatar. I'll say no to the master thing but there's nothing against you running away.

@ Alpha - Lightning is a subclass of Firebending. Airbenders would only be able to redirct lightning, but you'd need to learn it from a firebender who can do the technique.
Name: Bai Zhu Nickname: - Age: 19 Gender: Male Appearance:
Spoiler:
Personality: Bai is an Air Nomad, who grew up outside of the Air Temples. As such, he seems to have little quarrel going against the beliefs of the Air Nomads, though he may also observe them, showing that he wished to have grown up away from the world. His real father was killed by an Earthbender, and as such Bai has distaste towards them, and often avoids talking to them. He doesn't seem to hate Firebenders, or anyone enough to kill them, showing that he spent enough time with the Air Nomads to learn that all life is sacred. He is a very brave individual, willing to fight to give others a chance to escape and often betting on risky strategies that might not work. He also seems to believe that the Avatar will appear when the world need the Avatar most, and plans to serve alongside the Avatar, and teach him to use the element of air if he is from the Air Nation. Personality: Tai Lin is a very quiet individual who is a young guard to the Fire Lord's family. He takes his job very seriously, though he is too kind to actually kill on command. He seems to be very friendly and open to people and fears Yu, a Prince of the Fire Nation. Though he doesn't simply fear Yu, he also worries for him. He sees the danger of the war and hopes that he will leave his father's side and become the new Fire Lord, in an era of peace. Tai will gladly die to protect Yu, at any cost. He often regrets leaving his old life and family, even though it wasn't his choice and sometimes holds a grudge against the Fire Lord and his family, and can get enraged at Yu, though rarely. He seems to enjoy tea. Nation of Origin: Fire Nation Allegiance: Yu, The Prince of the Fire Nation Element: N/a, Uses Chi-Blocking Weapon: N/a

I guess....?
Each group will have been provided a goal which they must complete. Once all groups complete their goal, we will move onto the Chapter 2 with new goals. I ask that people be reasonable about their posting in respect to the others in this. For example, if you require someone to make a post, don't have a page of posts waiting, just wait for them to post.
Tai Lyn, Prince Yu, and later Ian Hoka. - Infiltrate the Northern Water Tribe and search for information regarding the Avatar.
Max, Akiko Fuijin, and Kha Ietsu. - Lend aid to the Northen Water Tribe during the Fire Nation's siege.
Bai Zhu, Myin, and Hitoshi Kageru. - Patrol the Earth Kingdom for information on the Avatar.

Disregard the Fire Nation-type clothing, she typically wears that of the Earth Kingdom, because of her upbringing and birthplace. If she ever winds up in the Fire Nation, she will wear this outfit to blend in. Personality: First of all, Yoku isn't very fond of her own bending (explained below). She will use it only in self defense or survival, and will avoid using it in front of any other bender. As a Fire Bender in the Earth Nation, she wears the attire of the latter and typically passes herself off as someone who cannot bend.
Personality-wise, Yoku is very quiet and can't be considered social. She tends to avoid people when she can, and if dragged into a conversation, she will usually linger in the background without saying much. If it's a topic she's passionate about or something that particularily irritates her, she will speak up for her own opinion. Her bending responds to her emotions: when calm, she has a decent grasp and control of it, but when angered or upset, the fire could flare out and injur someone she didn't mean to. This often leads to her getting in trouble and being forced to move on from whatever place she's made home.
A Quick History Synopsis: Yoku is the illegitimate bastard of her Earth Nation mother and a Fire Nation soldier, well a soldier to her understanding. She only learned of this when her fire bending started awakening within her, and her mother never went into detail with just how she was conceived. The man she thought was her father, a burly earth bender married to her mother, quickly left them after it was discovered that Yoku was a fire bender: it was inarguable that she could have been his child.
Yoku had always grown up being warned that her bending was unwanted, and that she, under no circumstances, should ever use it outside her home. Unfortunately, in her last year of elementary schooling, she got into a fight with a known bully, and her nerves caused an outburst that ended with a singed kid and an expelled Yoku.
Now looked down upon and slandered with accusations of 'Traitor' and 'Fire Bending Freak', despite being born and raised in the earth kingdom, she had no choice but to move far from her birth town to escape the stigma.
She lived happily in her new life and her non-bending deception for several years until a fight with her mother sent her house ablaze and her shunned and outcast from the family. The last words she ever heard from her mother were: 'I always knew you would be a curse and tormentor of my family. I wish you had never been born.'
With nowhere to go, Yoku moved on herself, continuing her facade for as long as she could. She's wandered and worked in several towns, and managed to save up enough to purchase herself an Ostrich Horse for better travel. She now simply wanders the world with no goal in mind.
---
Nation of Origin: Earth Nation Allegiance: Neutral, but leaning toward Good Element: Fire Weapon: None, like most Fire Benders, she fights with her fists and breath.
