Violet Gym at Violet City

Vladimir is on the ground level of the gym. There is a wooden platform at the end that lifts Trainers up to the upper level. The path creates an "S" shape as it winds around toward the Gym Leader. A Trainer waits at each end of the "S" but Vladimir can avoid both Trainers by walking on the glass tiles that encircle the field. Falkner waits on a wooden platform in front of the windows at the back of the Gym.

Charmander and Honedge grow restless inside their respective Poké Balls. In this gym, Vladimir would make history. In this gym, Vladimir would score his first big win as a Trainer. In this gym, Vladimir would score a win against the first Trainer he would fight, and that is one of the Gym Trainers.

He walked up towards the first Gym Trainer, which is the person on the left. The first Gym Trainer is a young man carrying a birdcage and is obviously a Bird Keeper. Confidence fills Vladimir, he and his team are more than prepared for this Gym. This is going to be a massacre.

Vladimir took a double-sided coin out of his pocket with one side defaced. He showed the Gym Trainer the clean side of the coin and said, "You live." And the scarred side he showed, "You die." Vladimir tosses the coin and catches it in mid-air with left hand, the coin resting in his closed palm. He opened his palm and the coin gave a scarred side, which means Vladimir's opponent will "die.” In Vladimir's own words: will have his Pokémon defeated brutally.

The trainer in question, Abe, was donned in a blue jumpsuit, brown leather gloves wrapped around the hold at the top of the cage, his hair only a shade darker than the expensive material. It was unkempt, too, akin to a bird nest, and the new opponent's behaviour both unnerved and perplexed him. "You want to battle? Fine, but it won't go down like you hope." He assured the other in his light voice, unlocking the door to release his Natu. "I have two Pokemon. You can use as many as you like!"

In Character: Vladimir stared towards the Bird Keeper wild-eyed, as a damned soul in purgatory might look at Satan passing in regal splendor through the seventy times sevenfold circles of hell. "Please, tell me you were saying that to yourself."

Vladimir sends out Charmander. The nascent fire played amid his tail like a child with a new toy, its flames leaping in excitement, its quiet crackling like so much giggling in the woods. The orange Pokémon stood still as he had a stare down with the winged opponent. "Let's roast. Flare Blitz," Vladimir ordered like a commander commanding its team to take a bogey down. Charmander liked the idea, this is a powerful move, and it has the potential to end the foe Natu before it could do anything.

Charmander's body would become surrounded in light blue flames and he would shoot like a missile at the Natu that's in front of him, and would slam into it. As it fires itself at the opponent, a stream of light blue fire would be left behind him.

Abe merely smirked, undaunted by the theatrics of the scruffy man before him. Natu was fittingly the same, still and pensieve as he awaited Charmander's move. "Teleport." The trainer said simply, and before the impressive, flaming lizard could reach its prey, the flying type vanished. It was true that its speed of the level nine, male bird was probably slower than the challenger, but a psychic had its own advantages.

"Night shade." The trainer commanded next. The bird's eyes lit up blue, attempting to scare Charmander with a frightening mirage. Of course, even if it did, it wouldn't do too much damage - the ghost move only hit according to Natu's lower level.

Charmander skidded when the Natu disappeared only to appear behind him. "He's behind you. Set yourself on fire and charge," Vladimir ordered. Charmander made a swift three hundred sixty degree turn before he charged his Flare Blitz the same time Natu was lighting up his eyes. The Flare Blitz now locked and load, Charmander darted towards Natu while taking very light damage from the Night Shade at the same time.

Charmander showed no real sign of affliction by the night shade, and definitely no sign of slowing down. Natu panicked, "Dodge!" Abe cried, but it was to no avail. The bird just couldn't hop quick enough, nor gain any height with his underdeveloped wings, and the challenger struck the multi-coloured bird across the field. Even with just one hit, it had taken a lot of damage. The Natu got up, Leering to lower Charmander's defence - but what use was that when Natu was fatally threatened by Charmander's flames? The battle wasn't going to last long enough to chip away with night shade. Abe wasn't sure how to go next. They couldn't teleport away forever.

A sweet half-smile of celebration appeared on Vladimir's face when the Natu showed obvious signs of weakness. But it would be too low to party right away, there's still another Gym Trainer to defeat before he could finally get his hands on Falkner. Still, a win is a win. "We should've done a two-on-one instead. Looking good, Charmander." Just when Vladimir cheered, Charmander flicked his head as he felt something deep inside him feel weak. There is something in him that felt weak, perhaps his muscles softened a bit, which would make physical damage hurt more. It doesn't matter anyway.

"Welp, let's finish off with Ember." Charmander was a bit surprised that Vladimir went with Ember instead of another Flare Blitz. Normally, Vladimir is like some sort of merciless psychopath who would use a powerful move even if the enemy were super weak. "Full power," Vladimir added. Charmander reacted happily at it, he knew Vladimir would want something devastating. Using Flare Blitz would tire Charmander out so a full power Ember would do good to create such damage. There goes the fire bolts coming out of Charmander's mouth only this time, the bolts are much bigger.

"Teleport!" Abe shouted, but it was too late. One fireball hit its mark and the rest followed. When the fire and smoke cleared, there was damage to the gym floor, and a rather charred looking Natu out for the count. "Return, Natu..." The birdkeeper felt guilty wash over him, returning the bird to its Poke Ball. "You really did kill the match after all. Here, take your prize money and move on." He handed over two hundred and sixteen pokedallers to Vladmir, looking to the next birdkeeper that he had yet to face. Charmander earned nine experience points!

You ready for round two? That, then we can proceed to the last boss,"[/font"> Vladimir asked with a proud smile on his face, admiring the skill of his Charmander. For Charmander, his trainer's sweet smile is enough to cheer him up and keep him motivated. The Fire-type replied with an energetic nod and a smile. Vladimir picked his Charmander up and cradled him on his arms, indulging in that warm feeling of Charmander's body.

Vladimir walked pass the guy he just beat and has his eyes set on the next one. "Train on, Abe. I want to see the world having indestructible Gym Trainers one day," Vladimir said as he walks away.

Now standing in front of the next Gym Trainer, Vladimir puts Charmander down and the Pokémon immediately gets in a battle stance, hungry for another fight. "You wouldn't mind we do a two-on-one wouldn't you," Vladimir asked in an arrogant as ever tone. Charmander seemed to be okay with fighting two Pokémon at once.

Rod had witnessed the last battle, and although he wasn't sure of the rules on it, he thought it might be his best chance of winning here. "Not a problem, if you really want the fight." He said, releasing two male Pidgey at level seven. They beat their wings in sync, obviously more capable of flying than Natu had been. However, their low level meant they didn't have a lot of moves at their disposal. "Pidge, use sand attack! Ee, use gust!"

One of the birds built up height, and while he did so, sprayed sand into the opponent's eyes to lower Charmander's accuracy. The other used the artificial winds to whip up a mighty gust!

A wind attack and then a spray of sand? That's... Genius.

The winds whirled the tiny bits of sand particles everywhere but it can't be helped, some of them got on Charmander's eyes, which reduced his accuracy by one stage. It's a big advantage especially since Charmander is all by himself in this fight. Charmander brushed the sand off his eyes but the damage on his status has been made, nothing can be done. The winds painfully brushed against his fur, but the fire on his tail was not put out.

"Oh, this is going to be fun. Growl." Charmander shook his head, getting his focus back on the battle. Charmander opens his mouth and lets out a high, piercing growl that distorts the air. Whoever is hit by the circular distortion of sound waves that's in the air, he would have his attack stat lowered. "Try to bring them to the ground with Flare Blitz!" Luckily, Charmander still has some gas left in his tank of stamina to charge up Flare Blitz. Charmander's body would become surrounded in light blue flames and he would shoot like a missile at the two Pidgey that's high in front of him, and would slam in between them, drive his shoulder into their midsection, to tackle the two and force them down into the ground back-first. As he fires himself at the opponent, a stream of light blue fire would be left behind his footprint.

"I'm glad you think so." Rod laughed. Perhaps he had a chance here, which was a relief. The growl hit Pidgey A on the left, but that didn't matter, he could still win this. "Go higher in the air!" He ordered in a hurry, the two birds narrowly avoiding Charmander's flaming charge, "Now, sand attack and gust again!"

The same tactic was employed as before, catching Charmander in some powerful winds, and again lowering his accuracy a stage. Flame blitz, and all other moves, would be useless if he were blind.

Too bad. That move would have looked theatrically awesome. Rod and his birds' tactic went according to plan, which put Charmander in a horrible disadvantage. Charmander landed on his feet as he shook his head and rubbed his eyes again getting the sand off his vision.

Vladimir, realizes for a moment that he bit more than he can chew. "I think I'm pretty screwed up," he thought to himself. He doesn't believe in miracles, so he will have to rely on Charmander. There's an option of switching Charmander with the more powerful Honedge but that would tarnish his pride and embarass him making an arrogant challenge of a two-on-one. It's lesson learned the hard way.

"Smokescreen." With Charmander's accuracy greatly reduced, it's time to even things up. Of course, if the birds were to generate wind it would easily blow the smoke away but the bright side is it leaves the birds vulnerable to an attack. Charmander once again would fill the battlefield with a thick black smoke. "Ember." And would quickly follow it up with a rapid fire of Ember upwards.

It was indeed a lesson learned the hard way. It was true that this was the region's first gym, but gym leaders didn't obtain such titles for nothing, nor did they pick their backing trainers lightly. Rod was the penultimate challenge for a reason. Coughing at the smoke, he commanded for his Pidgey to blow the smokescreen away with gust, and that's what they began to do - but not before the ember struck them both in their blindness. The sounds of their pained cawing filled the room, as well as a spiraling smack as both lost altitude and hit the floor, their feathers singed and confidence rattled. "Quick! Use sand attack, then go into the air and use tackle!"

Vladimir's brain tingled like a hand that has been sat on for too long. A smirk was playing at the corner of his lips as he stood still staring at the sight of the two Pidgeys smacked down the ground. He felt even better when Rod gave a command that is very easy for them to intercept.

Charmander instinctively got away from every single grain of sand. He's lucky those sand particles don't bounce around like a ball. "Flare Blitz," Vladimir quickly cut in. With the speed of both Pidgeys running straight towards Charmander for a Tackle, they would not be able to dodge and get out of the way so easily. But then again, Vladimir has had a lot of underestimation towards his enemies since he entered this building.

Charmander's body lit up in flames as if he turned into a creature made from flames that ascended from the depths of hell. He would try to strike the same way he did a while ago when the birds were in the air, he would charge toward the incoming birds and drive his shoulder into their midsection, to tackling the opponents and force them down into the ground back-first.

Their tackles would have lacked the real power they wanted, too, given they'd had to lift themselves up in the air first instead of gaining speed on the down sweep. As such, the whole assault was clumsy, and Charmander was much better prepared. "Pull back!" Rod called, but it was too late, both birds taking strong hits as their feathers and skin once again sizzled, both dazed as they hit the gym floor. "Don't let him get you again! Fly back up to safety!"

Out of Character: I'm sorry for the late reply. I didn't know you posted three days ago so I was waiting. I logged in to post in Mod Me when I realized it was actually my turn to post. Silly...

In Character: Hope filled Vladimir when the explosive Flare Blitz struck. That's it, there is a chance for them to actually come out on top and not end up like trying hard idiots who bit more than they can chew. Still, he would not be so sure. He realized that he bought a Potion from the shop before he went inside this Gym. He had no idea why he bought one, perhaps it is destiny's work that it will come in handy. He also remembered he had ten Rare Candies in the bag, which he would feed Charmander before he faces the Gym Leader.

"Lookin' good, Charmander! Drop a smoke bomb then c'mere," Vladimir commanded. Charmander would use another Smokescreen just to hide himself and get some breathing space, repetitive use of Flare Blitz surely did damage on his stamina. At least, not health. The two Pidgeys would also have their Accuracies reduced. Quickly, Charmander ran back to his Trainer, curious why.

"Let me spray this Potion on you, pal. Hold still, I've done this before," Vladimir said before he took a Potion out of his bag and sprayed it all over Charmander, as most of his battle scars were healed. "Get back there but don't move. Let them come at ya. I can smell our victory. You're the man!"

Rod grimaced as Vladmir healed his Pokemon. He was tempted to call him out on it. He had come in here acting like some sort of cool villain, ruthless to his friend's Natu and then challenging both of his Pidgey at once. Now he had bitten off more than he could chew. He supposed it was a good thing he wasn't pushing Charmander too hard. So long as he learned some kind of lesson today, it was all that Rod could hope for.

It was turning into a stalemate, though. Charmander wasn't attempting anything, and his Pidgey were aloft, but nothing was happening. The gym trainer was playing it safe, too. "Both of you, use gust!"

Out of Character: Don't forget to remove the Potion from Vladimir.

In Character: The only reason Vladimir rather chickened out, was solely Charmander's condition. Rod's suspicion is correct. Sadly, this affected Vladimir's high pride and took damage on his alpha-male self-image. But who cares, he doesn't have to prove how manly he is. Vladimir's manliness has inspired Charmander, but his body is too weak to contain the kind of personality Vladimir has.

The two heard Rod's orders, but Vladimir has not given a command, so Charmander had no choice but to stand still and watch as his smokes are blown away and the winds sliced his skin as a cry of pain escaped his mouth. That one was a critical hit. Good thing that Potion was used. "Smokescreen, and Scratch!"

Once again, Charmander would replace the blown thick smoke. Then, Charmander would dash towards the Pidgey to the left for the Scratch, he would bring his rear leg forward to feign a kick, then snap the leg back while attempting to rake the Pidgey with its right claws, resulting in greater power behind the Scratch.

The smokescreen once again made them choke, but the two Pidgey were fine from the scratch command, or so they thought. Whether or not they could see or dodge as well as they usually could, they were still high up in the air. Unless Charmander managed to jump high enough, or was able to coax them up again, Rod's safe strategy would keep his duo safe until Charmander really wore out, letting him whittle Charmander's health down from on high.

In Character: Vladimir realized his mistake. That was very embarrassing. What was he thinking? Why would he do such a thing? Maybe he is completely uncoordinated today. Just why?

"Ember." Charmander tried to use Ember instead to hit whichever Pidgey.

Rod laughed, although it wasn't malicious. Vladmir looked embarrassed by his foolishness, and so he should be. When he commanded ember, he ordered his Pidgey to scatter, although there was still a cry of pain. One of them had been hit. The other was more courageous, aiming to tackle Charmander in a dive bomb strategy, swooping down with a fierce gaze!

The Pidgey has hit Charmander and he hit his back on the ground hard. People must really make mistakes all the time, from the smartest to dumbest. Rod should have kept his distance.

"Grab hold of him! Grad hold of him!" Charmander would quickly turn to his side and attempt to reach for Pidgey before he could take off to the skies again. Once done, Charmander would get on top of the Pidgey to pin him to the ground and start clawing with Scratch, which would leave him vulnerable to the other Pidgey. Unless this is intentional, and Vladimir is actually planning on awakening Charmander's Blaze.

The Pidgey was shocked by the manouver, trying to pull back before he crashed, but this only meant that Charmander had plenty of time to mount. The Pidgey tried desperately to shake him off, soaring and spinning, but the multitude of scratches finished it off. Charmander grew by one level! "Return!" Rod called to the fainted bird, which was taken away in a beam of red light from underneath the fire lizard. Now, the playing field was more balanced.

Victory. It is near.

The feeling of relief Vladimir felt was unexplainable. Charmander felt it too. The Fire-type knew he was heading towards the right direction. For theatrical purposes, Charmander decided to slowly turn around, put on an evil grin on his face, and look at the one last bird in the eye. Vladimir knew this; this is one of those instances Charmander randomly acts as if he is in a move. "Quit screwing around! Victory is at hand! Ember," Vladimir ordered. Charmander snapped back to reality and unleashed fireballs. While the Pidgey can simply swoop away from it or just hover away, Vladimir knows this and has a plan.
