The Real Deal

Tyson entered the Pokemon Center and asked Nurse Joy to heal his Pokemon. While waiting for them to be healed, he noticed a commotion at the entrance. Before he could investigate what was happening, Nurse Joy said "Tyson, your Pokemon are healed!" And that got his attention. He went up, grabbed Neo and Data, and thanked the Nurse Joy for her help. As he was leaving, he was stopped.

A young trainer ran along the road towards the pokemon center, holding his injured magnemite in his arms. His eyes were welling with tears as he ran past Tyson and handed his pokemon to the Nurse. Luckily he had made it just in time, and the magnemite was easily healed in seconds, "Ooh, thank you nurse joy! I was so worried about my poor pokemon..." He looked behind him at the trainer he had just passed, "Oh, sorry about that! I was training when my magnemite was overpowered...anyways, you look like a strong trainer! Wanna battle me?"

As the boy ran past him, Tyson got a glimpse of his Pokemon. He'd seen it before! A magnemite. It looked pretty beat up though. Tyson wondered what kind of nearby Pokemon could damage a Magnemite to that point.

Anyway, he was about to turn and leave when the boy with the Magnemite came behind him an apollogized. He then asked for a battle! "Uh, sure!" Tyson was surprised at the sudden request. He assumed it was just part of a trainer's duty to battle others. He headed outside, and questioned what Pokemon to send out. He knew the magnemite was a steel type. Neo wouldn't be the best option in that situation, but his newly caught Pokemon might be. "Alright, get ready!" Tyson yelled as he sent out Data. Data came out o the Pokeball and appeared in front of Tyson as he floated side to side. "Alright, this is our first battle together, so make me proud Data!" Data made a little spin as to say that he was going to do his best.

The trainer wanted to give his magnemite a chance to rest before battling right away again, and returned it to his pokeball, "I choose you, Totodile!" A lure ball flew through the air and opened up, revealing a small, hyperactive totodile that was jumping in the air excitedly, "Totototototodile!!" They both pointed at Tyson and Data and gave a thumbs down, "We're gonna take you down!" Totodile smiled and growled in agreement, then fired a jet of water at the disc pokemon, "Wh-whoa, little guy! I didn't even say start yet!"

Scratch - Water Gun - Leer - Rage

"Oh wow!" Tyson was amazed that he saw such a rare Pokemon! But, it also messed with his strategy of fighting steel with steel. Neo would have done just fine in this battle. Both of the trainers giving a thumbs down angered Tyson and Data, and he knew switching Pokemon was out of the question. Then, all of a sudden, the Totodile fired a stream of Water from his mouth. Data was hit by it, and spun around while being blasted backwards. Tyson had an idea, "Data, confusion, now!" He knew data would still be spinning, so the duo wouldn't know when the attack would come. Data was smart enough to assume what Tyson strategy was, so he timed it just right, then released his psychic energy in the direction of the Totodile.

The young trainer watched Data spin through the air rapidly after being hit with the attack, and smiled down at his Totodile, "Good call, buddy! Alright, now let's hit them with a Rage attack! ...Totodile?!" Suddenly his totodile was surrounded in a blue energy and launched past the trainer's head into the pokemon center's wall. The Totodile got up from the wreckage with his head hanging low, with a vein popping out of its forehead. Suddenly its head snapped up at the disc pokemon, his eyes glowing a bright red from rage, "Aw, yeah! Totodile, let's use a Rage attack, now!" The small alligator rushed at Data, stomping the ground with each step and swinging his arms wildly.

Data stopped spinning, and when it reoriented itself, it saw the Totodile made a mad dash at it. It was going pretty fast, so it didn't have much of a reaction time. Tyson had already came up with a plan and said "Wait for it, Data." Data was confused as to what it was waiting for, but he decided to trust his new trainer's abilities.

A moment later, the Totodile made contact. But, before Data was sent back, Tyson said "Now, Hypnosis!" Data realized what his trainer wanted to do. It vibrated slightly then expelled a ray of psychic energy at the Totodile while it was still close. Then, the rage's impact finally set in and data was slightly sent back.

The trainer smiled to himself and fist pumped the air, "Awesome, Totodile! Now hit them with another Rage atta- T-totodile!?" Again, the young trainer was surprised by this kid's unpredictable fighting style, and didn't even notice that his pokemon was hit by the hypnosis attack. The totodile was curled up on the ground, snoozing away while the trainer jumped up and down, "Totodile, wake up!! Use a Water Gun!!" His pokemon was too far asleep, however, still snoozing away.

"Great job Data!" Tyson exclaimed. He was almost too excited to focus on the battle. He had to prepare for when the Totodile would eventually wake up. "Alright Data, use Reflect." A barrier formed around Data, which would decrease the damage of physical attacks. "Now, use confusion again, and launch him in the air!" Data focused his psychic energy on the totodile and attempted to launch the sleeping Pokemon high in the air.

The trainer pounded the ground with his foot angrily and glared at Tyson, "Aaagh! That's so cheap!! Totodile, wake uuuup!!" The totodile stayed asleep as the Bronzor set up a reflect, boosting its defenses greatly, but woke up suddenly when it was picked up with a psychic energy and tossed into the air. It shook its drowsiness off and blasted two torrents of water at the Bronzor, one to launch it to the roof of the Pokemon Center, and another one aimed directly at the disc. "Yeaah! Stay up there, Totodile, don't let it get you with that Hypnosis again!"

"And you called me cheap!" Tyson said. The torrent of water hit one side of Data, who spun around again. This time, not as long. He didn't mean to set up and attack. "Alright Data, can you float up there?" As an answer, Data glowed a blue color and started to float towards the Totodile. It landed on the roof, and Tyson yelled "Alright, now knock it down here!" Tyson trusted Data to use whatever method it thought was best to knock it down. Data decided to charge at it and use Tackle to knock it off the roof.

"Alright Totodile, try another Water Gun!" The totodile took the bronzor's tackle, but held strong and gripped onto the disc pokemon's steely body. "Toto...DILE!!" With a loud roar it released a blast of cold water at close range as they fell. The trainer danced around excitedly, but didn't realize that his own pokemon was becoming tired with each hit. When the totodile let go and smashed into the ground, it fainted instantly, "Totodile, noo!!" The trainer rushed to his fallen friend and picked him up tenderly, pulling out its ball, "You did great, Totodile...just take a nice rest, ok?"

When the Totodile was successfully returned, the young trainer turned to Tyson again and pulled out a second pokeball, "Alright Magnemite, I choose you!!" A regular pokeball flew through the air, and it opened to reveal the pokemon who had been hurt just moments before, but now it looked to be full of new life, electricity sparking on its magnets. "I'll give you the first move! Me and my pokemon have trained since day one, and we're not about to lose!!"

Magnemite Lv. 11

Metal Sound - Tackle - Thundershock - Supersonic

"Well there's that Magnemite I was worried about," Tyson said. Data floated back down to the ground, and in front of the Magnemite. "Data, this is going to be a tough battle. Get ready!" Data vibrated in excitement, and was ready to give his all. He wasn't too exhausted from the Totodile battle because his defenses were top notch. The trainer said Tyson could have the first move. "Alright Data, use confusion!" Data vibrated, and expelled psychic energy towards the Magnemite. Tyson wanted to try and stall so he could come up with a strategy.

The trainer now had a confident smile on his face, his favorite pokemon was now out on the battlefield, and he was ready for anything! "Magnemite, shake off the hold and go for a supersonic!" The magnet pokemon vibrated slightly when the confusion hit, but stayed strong and broke free of the psychic attack. The trainer smirked at the bronzor and Tyson, "Hah, we're prepared for that! Now, Magnemite!" A loud sound came from the magnemite's body, and a wave of pure vibrations that would confuse Data flew towards them.

"Agh!" Tyson covered his ears to protect from the high pitch sound. Unfortunately, Data was just a metal disc so he took the full brunt of the sound. When the sound stopped, Tyson asked "Data, are you alright?" Data turned around multiple times, and looked as if he was in a daze. Damn! The attack confused him. Hopefully this worked out for Tyson. "Data, if you're still with me, use confusion again on that Magnemite!" Thankfully, Data wasn't confused enough to hurt itself, and it attempted to grasp the Magnemite and slam it into the Pokemon center's wall.

The boy snickered a bit, but kept his confident and focused attitude, for fear of making a stupid mistake again. "Magnemite, bust through that confusion and use a thundershock!!" The magnemite didn't let himself get hit this time, however, and dodged out of the way of the attack instead, "Or...do that. Whatever works for you! Hit him with a thundershock, ok?" The magnemite's magnets began to spark, and a bolt of electricity burst from the metal pokemon and attempted to zap the Bronzor until it fainted. If it hit, the magnemite would keep up the attack, not letting up, "Alright, magnemite! Don't let it escape!!" In truth, the pokemon couldn't escape, for the magnemite had the ability magnet pull, which prevented the steel-type Data from switching out.

"Ugh!" Data was about to be defeated. Tyson had to have a boost for Neo at least. "Data, as your last stand, Tackle!" Data rushed in as the thundershock hit. The elctricity must have snapped it out of confusion, because Data got a lot more focused. The electricity kept coming, but Data just charged through, and when it was about to make contact, Tyson yelled "Now, before you faint, Hypnosis!" Data used the last of its power to use Hypnosis on the Magnemite, and then fainted.

The trainer quickly swiped his hand in front of him dramatically and said, "Magnemite, watch out for the tackle!" The magnemite floated out of the way, putting on a sudden burst of speed using its signature magnetic ability. But before the attack would have made contact, Data had sent a wave of psychic energy that the trainer recognized as the Hypnosis attack they had used before! "M-magnemite, no!! Not again!" The magnemite, hearing its partner's call of desperation, quickly used a Supersonic attack to cancel out the hypnosis, which left it barely floating in the air. The trainer jumped into the air with joy, "Yaaay! We won!!" What he didn't know was that Tyson had a second pokemon that he could use.

"Not yet!" Tyson had to put his hope in Neo, his last Pokemon. "Data, return!" He held out the Pokeball, and Data, with a flash of red light, returned to the Pokeball. "You did good buddy. Neo, Go!" He sent out Neo's Pokeball. "It's all banking on you, Neo. I believe in you!" Tyson believed his Neo could win, but he knew the battle would be tough. He couldn't get hit by too many moves or else Neo would be defeated. "Alright Neo, Focus Energy!" Neo completely focused on the Enemy magnemite. Tyson didn't command anything else because he wanted to try to wait and see what his opponent would do.

The trainer stopped jumping and froze with his arms in the air, "You mean...it's not..." He flinched when Tyson's second pokemon was sent out, a small nidoran that seemed very focused and determined. The trainer pointed at the nidoran and gave another thumbs down, "Who cares!? We'll still win, right, Magnemite?" His magnemite couldn't respond, as all of its energy was focused on the battle ahead of him. "Alright, let's start this off with a thundershock, then a supersonic!" A burst of electricity came from the magnemite's body again, but the attack was just a distraction for the real strategy. The magnemite put another burst of speed on and came right next to the nidoran, emitting the loud metallic sound again, hoping to confuse the poor pokemon.

Neo was focused on the Magnemite, and saw its electricity expel from its body and race towards Neo. He jumped to his side to avoid the attack, but didn't expect the Magnemite to dash near it. Tyson could assume what was coming, so he told Neo to duck his head in the ground. Neo was confused, but didn't question his trainer in this battle, so he ducked his head in the ground as fast as possible. Tyson covered his ears, and the piercing sound was released. Neo could feel the vibrations caused by the soundwaves all around him.

The vibrations finally stopped, and Neo picked his head out of the ground. Tyson uncovered his ears, and yelled "Alright Neo, Peck!" Neo dashed at the Magnemite and outstretched his neck, attempting to hit him.

The magnemite vibrated in annoyance as the nidoran found a way to block his supersonic, but backed away as it came towards him, waiting for a command. The trainer was barely able to respond to the sudden tactic, but luckily they had a defense mechanism for just that moment. "Magnemite, use Metal Sound to block the attack!!" The magnemite's angry vibrations suddenly became more violent, until a wave of continuous sound was sent at the nidoran in which a simply covering of the ears would not be able to block. The wave of pure metallic sound left an indent in the ground until it came right up to the nidoran, hopefully blowing it back, or at least blocking the magnemite from the peck attack.

Nidoran was stopped in its tracks, and squealed as the sound tortured its eardrums. Neo rolled up its ears, and tried to endure. He knew he had to finish the attack sequence for Tyson, so while he was being bombarded by the immense sound, he continued the peck with his ears rolled up. Even if Tyson tried to tell it to do something else, Neo wouldn't be able to hear it. He made one last Lunge at the Magnemite, trying to hit it with Peck.

The magnemite widened its single eye as it realized that even their final defense hadn't worked on the nidoran. It let itself lower to the ground, basically giving up as the nidoran's horn slammed into him, spinning him through the air and smashing into the ground. "M-magnemite!! I...I lost?" The trainer let his head lower down as he returned the magnemite to his ball, "I guess we still need to train...that was a great battle! I hope we meet each other again someday, see ya!" He handed Tyson a bit of money, and then walked into the pokemon center to heal his pokemon.

Tyson had won his first Pokemon Battle! He was ecstatic! "Woohoo!" Great Job Neo!" He paraded his Pokemon around while cheering about his first Victory. He couldn't forget about Data, so he grabbed his Pokeball and released him, only to see that he laid on the ground, fainted. "Oh right I should heal you!" He returned both of them to the Pokeballs, and visited Nurse Joy again.

"We've restored your Pokemon to full health," Nurse Joy said, "We hope to see you again!" Then Tyson left the Pokemon center. He looked for the trainer that he'd just battle, but it seems he rushed off too quickly. "Well guys, we've spent enough time here. Lets head to the next town!" And so Tyson rushed off, but a new route stood in between him and the next town. "Well, training some more could never hurt I guess!" And Tyson rushed in. As he was running, he got sidetracked by something.
