Beedee Ey: Chapter 2: Just Can't Get Enough

Viridian City, Kanto

Beedee along with his Dratini and the newly captured Charmander has reached Viridian City. "Route 1 has always bored me. I hope nearby Routes 22 and 2 won't do the same. Guess I'll try 22 first," he thought as he kept walking.

"Don't think these guys need healing," he added to his thoughts; referring about his Pokémon. Out of his backpack, he takes out an encyclopedia about Pokémon. "Stupid thing's the only thing that makes my bag heavy. Why must useful things be annoying? Eh, whatever... Places of interest... Places of interest...," he whispered as he opened and scanned the table of contents searching for Viridian City's Places of Interest.

"There," he whispered again as he searched through the pages. "Let's see... Pokémon Academy, boring. Old man, oh come on... Not that annoying stupid old hag. Trainer house? Sounds interesting... The gym and welcome sign. I look forward to beating the crap out of the Leader but I'm not prepared. I'm not so dumb to get there for a fight when I'm unprepared. Welcome sign, seriously...? A signboard? Everybody knows where the League is. Guess I'll be coming back here to invade them," he commented; all on his thoughts.

Route 22, Viridian City

He puts the encyclopedia back in his bag and looked back at his direction. He saw a signboard that says Route 22. He proceeded towards the grassy areas. "Come on out, wussies," he called the wild Pokémon out. Or maybe a Trainer.

'Get your portable poke-encyclopedia here,' a man called. 'Light-weight, efficient! Its all you need!'

"Eh? It's probably a summarized version. Could be a pocket book or something like that. Eh, I honestly like this weight on my back. Kinda makes me tougher," he thought as he ignored the man and kept looking for a challenge.

The man ran up to the trainer. 'Buy the new poke-encyclopedia! everyone is raving about the detsiled entries and the organization of them!' He held out a small device. 'Look at this entry on Kanto! So neat, so organized!'

"Nah, I'm fine with this. Plus I'm already used to this that I can use this guide even when I'm only half-awake so, eh. Thanks anyway though," Beedee denied hoping the man would just go away so he can proceed to do something he's so hungry for: a battle.

[[Reminds me of those annoying guys who gives brochures to people that walk by and some even keep following you and advertise about their products. We have a lot of those in this country. :)]]

The man only nodded, taking the device and placing it in his pockets as he headed back to the stall continuing to advertise his new device. A few wild pokemon were watching the man, having been doing so for a while and actually laughing at him.

(How do you decide how much hits the player needs in order to knock out the foe? I might start using this method of yours. Though not exactly the same way as you suggested in the Staff Forum.)

Two wild Pokémon on sight means two fainted monsters after a few minutes. Beedee immediately sends out Dratini and Charmander. "Okay, see those two? We're picking a fight with them. Feel free to choose who you're going to attack. But I order you to use Thunder Wave and Ember."

(Hits = [Pokemon Level] / 2 ... Max is 20 hits per pokemon)

The two pokemon didn't really pay any attention, so they were hit by the attacks and rolled bit. They looked aside at the trainer that had attacked them, growling a bit in annoyance but overall not caring thinking that it may have been an accident, and turning their heads ignroing him again.

(Eh? Nine divided by 2 is 4.9... Shouldn't it have 4 hits left? Or were they 4 hits left but now 3 because both the attacks hit?)

"Gives us the advantage. Dratini, I'm pretty sure the one you attacked is in a Paralyzed condition. This time, try to paralyze the other one. Charmander, Ember on the other one,"[/u] Beedee ordered. Dratini used Thunder Wave on the other one which is not yet Paralyzed while Charmander attacked the one which is Paralyzed.

The pokemon heard the opponents incoming, jumping aside and growling angrily.

The team used the same move.

The two wild pokemon seemed at the tip of their game. They both dodged successfully, growling even worse at the trainer and his pokemon. THey had disturbed them laughing at someone foolish, and they ran under the table when no one was looking. Beedee would have to destroy the table and risk angering the man to get to the pokemon.

"Okay that sucks. Eh, my fire's out. Guess I'm checking the Trainer House out," he decided. Beedee walked away from Route 22 and went back to the city - towards this "Trainer House". "Eh... I don't know what's this house is for..." he wondered as he took a look inside through its windows.

There were trainers that were standing in the building. A few were behind metal doors saying "Battle in Progress," whilst others just sat discussing and talking about thier pokemon. There was a small spot where a few of the trainers were relaxing alongside their pokemon, and there was a market inside just like in a pokemon center.

(They have this in HG/SS so I don't personally know the place. Expect Beedee to act like an idiot. :P)

"Battle... Battle... A-hahahah," he laughed in his thoughts. Beedee thought whether to knock or just go inside. "They didn't open the door for every single person in here, didn't they," he thought as he decided to turn the knob trying to see if it's locked. He knows it's not but it's just for safety. He's very careful when it comes to places he's not familiar of.

A person was leaving just then, and they bumped int Beedee. 'Sorry,' they said, leaving him be to se the inside,

Beedee's heart rushes for the excitement as he ignored the person and quickly stepped inside the building. He closed the door and took a few steps observing the surroundings. "Er, what the Hell am I doing here...? Where should I start," he wondered as he tried to look for any posts, notice or anything that would tell visitors what the Trainer House is for and what are the stuff you can do.

There was a person holding newspapers, more than not magazines, and was calling for trainers to come and get a copy. "Learn about the Trainer House! Learn the latest news on battles and the markets!"

"Sweet."

Beedee whispered that word and walked towards the man. He stood in front of the man with a slight smile looking at the newspapers. "I could use a copy."

The man smiled, handing over a magazine to the trainer. 'On page twenty you can find rules on registering for the trainer house battle tournament,' he said as a tip before he went back to advertising

Beedee never really likes reading unless it has everything that catches his interest; like this one. He took the magazine and smiled as his eyes went around the room searching for an available seat. He found one which is on the other corner and sat down. Normally, he would read every single word in a paper but he's so excited that he flipped the pages to the said page. Seeing the page number on the bottom, he started to read every single word from top to bottom.

And it said...

TRAINER HOUSE BATTLE TOURNAMENT
Are you interested in participating in glorious battles? Would you like to show your might against all of the other trainers, or show that two-timing friend how wrong they are about your battle skills? 1] Only two to three pokemon per battle
2] No items usable

What Beedee just read turned his face into one of those "dafuq I just read" faces. His adrenaline surged and he felt really excited as usual. Violence and battles always fires him up. "Before I take down the champion of Kanto, it'd be good if I take down the champion of this building first. But I'm not going out there with two Pokémon. I'll meet their maximum. But what about the levels," he wondered as he flipped the page and searched for anything that could tell him about rules when it comes to levels. What is the minimum or the maximum? Or are battles here based on tactics and overcoming the odds?

As the pages turned, a small announcement came on over the intercom. "Those who wish to participate in the battle tournament a week from now, please head over to the reception desk for more information... Remember, only two to three pokemon may be used during your battles, and you may not heal your pokemon between them..." Multiple trainers piled up at the desk before Beedee would be able to even process the information, all of them grabbing the fliers and asking about the battle tournament, which pokemon were allowed, and other questions.

"Ah, right."

He joined the annoying bunch of people and tried to squeeze in. Sometimes being small and short is better than tall and big.
