So it begins...

Aegis found comfort on a grass patch outside of Pewter City. It supplied a private location where he can think to himself with no interruptions. Given the usual random pokemon here and there. What he needed to figure out though, was what would be his first move. With his home town being Pewter City, he was right where he needed for his first gym battle. But his pokemon weren't strong enough to take brock on, not to mention Aegis only had one pokemon.

"Shell, come on out!" The pokeball sprung open in a blaze of light as it formed a shape. Squirtle stood there seconds later and greeted Aegis with his usual soft spoken "Squirt"

Aegis smiled at the little guy and patted him on the head lightly. "I think we need to look for a new friend, dont you think?" The blue turtle creature gave a gleeful nod as acceptance and that was all Aegis needed. He stood up, gave a quick stretch, and scanned the area. "I think we just need someone to take on Geodude. Cause your going to be my trump card against Onyx."

It was then that a Butterfree (Female - lvl 10) flew over to them and landed on the floor tilting it's head curiously as if it was questioning what they were doing there waiting to find out.

Aegis caught sight of the bug pokemon as soon as it landed. He pondered for a minute and examined it just as much as the Butterfree examined them. It can fly, which is a plus. flying pokemon was his top pick for his future gym choice. Butterfree didnt seem to be too aggressive, but he didnt want to give it a chance escape.

Pointing a finger at the pokemon, he yelled, "Shell, use Ice beam full speed!"

The Butterfree was startled by the attack, as in retaliation it used Confusion, capturing the Ice Beam with it and turning the Ice Beam back on Shell to use Shell's own move against it.

Well that didn't go according to plan. But if he was going to be in the ranks of Gym Leader, he would have to improvise. "Shell, block it with your tail and let it encase it in ice! Then use Tail Whip on Butterfree!"

Hopefully his pokemon would be able to strike a hit with his tail. Squirtle gave a nod as he turned and stuck out its tail to meet the oncoming Ice Beam. It froze it over just as he thought, while of course casing some damage onto Squirtle himself. But the turtle pokemon was ready to go. He launched out at Butterfree prepared to attack.

This had worked to plan for Butterfree who immediately used Confusion again this time outlining Shell as, he took control causing Shell to keep hitting itself with it's tail. This causing Shell to be confused.

Aegis knew this was a losing battle. Squirtle is simply outmatched in this situation. But, Aegis refused to call it quits now. "Shell, use Withdraw and wait out the confusion. When ready, I want u to sin and fire off Ice Beam from all four areas of your shell. We're gonna turn our defense into offense!"

With this plan, Shell was at the mercy of Butterfree while he hid in the shell. But even Butterfree was gonna have a hard time with a barrage of Ice Beam attacks coming out from all corners. Aegis got this plan from watching Brock fight a trainer with a squirtle. That trainer had squirtle Withdraw and use water gun to shoot out from all four corners. He decided that was the best tactic for this battle as well. Squirtle withdrew within his shell as he got ready

The Butterfree used Confusion turning one of the Ice Beams back on Shell but, was then hit by the other three, freezing into a block of ice and falling to the floor unable to move, encased in the ice.

Aegis felt a rush of excitement finally. Was this his first victory from his first battle? "Only one way to find out! Pokeball go!" He threw it straight for the ice encased Buttterfree, hoping to use this moment to trap it while it was already trapped.

Shell came out of his shell to see the outcome and watched as the ball flew straight at the frozen bug pokemon.

As the Pokeball struck the ice which was encasing Butterfree, it broke it, absorbing Butterfree in, in a flash of red light, the Pokeball then dropped to the floor, and wiggled Once, Twice, Three Times. Pinging to indicate the capture, faint sparkles coming from the button as well. Aegis had succeeded in his first ever capture.

With the ping that came from the red sphere, that signaled his first catch. Aegis couldn't help but laugh out as he ran and picked it up. Warmth radiated from the pokeball like a small ball of warm rice ball. Butterfree was safe and sound in there and if there was anything that was going to help him beat that Geodude of brocks it was this guy right here. It just screamed battle warrior earlier as it took Aegis and Shell on solo.

That battle also sparked alot of future battle ideas he can try out with this guy. "Squirtle Squirt Squirt!" The small squirtle came joining in on Aegis and his excitement. "We did it little guy!" He pointed the pokeball at Shell. "We caught our first partner! I think I'll call him Genesis. To signal his part as my first capture!" With this, Aegis knew that he was only halfway ready. He liked to make sure victory wasnt a guess and to do that, Shell needed to learn water gun or he stood no chance against Onyx. "Time to go heal at the center so we could find some battles!"
