Goodbye beginnings, hello new journey(open)

Aegis walked out of the Pewter City pokemon center with anticipation for his journey today as a trainer. He has two pokemon to accompany him and a gym right around the corner to prepare for. His first move? Head out of the city onto a pokemon route and find some enemies to train Shell. Who knows, he might actually find a third partner to join. Aegis's taste in pokemon was unnaturally widespread. "Cant stay standing here forever, im off!"

It was then that an Eepress (Male - lvl 10) leapt out of a nearby pond growling at Aegis and Shell, before dashing forwards and using Swift on Shell, attempting to get in the first hit.

(by the way, I love you for creating this guy. love his look. I might join you in the pokemon creation thing once I get a scanner)

Like a jet rocket, an Eepress was attacking them like no tomorrow. The choice for his battle opponent was already obvious. "Come on out Genesis, its time for your opening battle!" What, did you expect he was going to go the obvious route as to use Squirtle so Butterfree wont lose to type advantage? To Aegis, gym leaders knew nothing of type of advantage and stared it in the face. Plus there is reason to his madness. Squirtle is outmatched in level and speed against this guy who can shrug off squirtles Ice Beam like its nothing thanks to being a Fire/Water type.

"Genesis, Harden and deflect those swift attacks! Then lets counter with Confusion!" Genesis immediately increased its outer shell and took on the attack full force. His eyes then glowed as he attempted to attack back at the Eepress.

(LOL LOL LOL Good Luck taking on Eepress a Water/Fire type with your Bug type lol)

Eepress watched Genesis immediately leaping into the water with a speedy back-flip, beginning to swim around the pond picking up speed each second, having known what to do, due to the fact it had watch many a trainer battle from the pond and had seen this tactic used 7 times. Eepress then lunged out of the water with a quick front-flip, opening his mouth and unleashing a torrent of embers upon Genesis for maximum damage.

Aegis knew Genesis could not dodge those. "Iron Defense! Maximum strength!" Genesis raised its special defense as the barrage of embers came flying in. smoke and dust rose around Genesis, shrouding him. "Genesis, use this moment to ur advantagr." With him hidden in the smoke from the attack, the eepress is unable to see the attack coming as easily. "grab him with string shot!"

The Eepress grinned as the String Shot wrapped around him, he quickly tugged on the String Shot with all his might to bring Genesis in closer to him, then opening his mouth and using another barrage of Embers on Genesis from close range.

Genesis barely had time to try and dodge the attack. With his string shot being tugged and him drawn somewhat closer, he got caught in the blast, falling straight to the ground unconscious. Aegis let out a dissapointed sigh. "Oh man, that didnt play out how i wanted. Genesis im sorry, you did the best you could have. Get some rest." He watched the pokeball absorb the bug pokemon into itself before enlarging another one. "Shell, looks like we're going to have to take home another medal!"

He threw it up and Shell came bursting out. Landing on two feet. "Okay, lets not give that thing time to rest, "Ice beam on the lake!" Shell nodded and let out a stream of ice Beam, hoping to freeze the lake over and force the eepress to have to battle on the slippery ice for a while.

(Lol, I will let you catch it, but that isn't gonna work for a partly fire type)

Eepress then used Ember on the pond melting the ice back into water, diving straight back in, he then used Swift which came flying from the pond and straight at Shell in an attempt to finish it.

(Just having fun with it now. lol)

Aegis got a good grasp of this pokemons attack. Squirtle is perfect for this battle. He just wish he could have pulled out a memorable win with butterfree. But you cant have your cake and eat it too can you? "Shell, use Withdraw and then spin and use Ice Beam!"

Shell withdrew into his turtle shell as the Swift attacks bounced off. He spun around and unleashed a fury of Ice Beams out of each hole.

Eepress was unaffected by the Ice attacks being a part fire type and all. Eepress then laughed dashing at Shell with unmatched speed, using Tackle attempting to take Shell down.

Aegis knew it wouldnt be effective, he just wanted to see how small an effect it would have. "Looks like Ice Beam is out of the picture. Shell hit him back with your own Tackle!" Shell popped out of his shell and dashed out for the Eepress. The collision was gonna make be huge.

Eepress however had the advantage due to his superior speed crashing into Shell headfirst and sending Shell flying back towards Aegis before reeling back himself.

Aegis looked shocked at how Shell flew into his hands like that. He readied himself as he got up. Something was odd about this little guy. He almost looked pre-trained which is obviously not the case due to no trainer being around. So he must have gotten this strong himself. Aegis wondered what exactly would be its motive to getting stronger. He even took this battle as its way to increase in strength. Or maybe even test itself out. Or...

"Is it trying to test us out as well?" He said to Shell. Aegis got up and dust himself off. "Well Shell, lets past this test. A grade!" Shell nodded with a smile as he scurried off in front of Aegis. "Ok Shell, we're gonna turn his own tactics against him. Wait for his next move. If its swift as im thinking it is, I want you to create a wall of ice in front of you to deflect them. If its Tackle, move out for your own Tackle, but it will be a feint. Your gonna turn and brace yourself at the last minute to let him hit your hard shell and get caught with its own momentum.

Eepress could see that Aegis had something planned instead jumping into the pond and swimming around waiting for Shell to make the first move rather smartly, this pokemon knowing exactly how to adapt to various techniques.

Just as he thought. This Pokemon really has battle experience. All the more to catch it. Why defeat it now when it can become a great partner later. "Shell, we can play the wait game better then he can. Freeze the pond. Itll force him to use ember to exit and thats when u catch him off gaurd with a Tackle."

Sheell gave his approval, the usually softspoken anti-confrontational Pokemon now seemed to enjoy battling eepress. Maybe its cause its another water type such as him. Shell reached near the pond and began freezing the water over.

Eepress however sped from the pond leaping out with a front-flip and spinning using Tackle in the form of a corkscrew kick.

"oh no u dont! Knock him off balance with Ice Beam! Then Tackle it!" Aegis was liking this battle and his competitive nature was completely taking over him. Battles were addictive to him and the more he had to improvise, the more excited he was. Thus why he wanted to be gym leader. He originally wanted to learn to be Battle Tutor like his father but they rarely battle.

Eepress' spin helped him to dodge the Ice Beam, Eepress meeting Shell head on, slamming Shell back once more, following this he approached Aegis his head high and proud. With that he looked Aegis in the eyes, with a look that said `i'm ready` referring to his capture. He then sat down smiling at Shell and waited.

Aegis was shocked, but only for a second. He knew they couldnt beat this little one, but knew that he had his role as a trainer to sell to this guy. Aegs went full force to show Eepress what sort partner he was getting in this deal. And it seems the pokemon was impressed. Aegis gave a relieved smile, "Geez, you coudnt give him atleast a small chance could you?" he bent down and rubbed the pokemons head as a greeting

"Shell come over here." the tortoise pokemon waddled over as he came to greet Eepress. Aegis pulled out his empty pokeball and enlarged it. "ok, into the pokeball you go Streak!" he fealt Eepress speed more then earned him that nickname

Streak went into the pokeball which didn't even wobble this time as the pokemon wanted to be caught.

The pokeball was warm and Aegis knew that this meant his third pokemon was caught. Turning a gaze towards Shell, he said "What do you say? Do you think we can take on Brock now? Genesis and confusion. You and Ice Beam. And this little one with Bubblebeam.' He threw the pokeball up a little and caught it.

"The options are open for me now." He knew getting this first badge was gonna be a pin later if he decided to just continue without, so it was decided. "Lets go win us a badge!" Shell jumped in anticipation. "But first. Lets use this opportunity. Your still battle ready and so is this little guy. There is a pokemon I want to catch before I leave Pewter. Lets go find us a pidgey!"

Aegis released Streak out of his ball. "Okay you to we're off to the path between here and Pallet town. Pidgeys are known to be around there mainly. Keep your eyes peeled for one."

Soon though a Spearow (Male - lvl 12) noticed them walk into his turf, gliding in and catching Shell off guard using Fury Attack as, it pecked Shell with it's beak repeatedly.

The attack came from nowhere, it caught all three off gaurd. This bird had a lot of nerves to pick a fight with a trainer who had two Pokemon out. "Shell withdraw and fire out your Ice beam!" Despite shell still being battle ready, he still is hurt. He cant take another hit so an offensive defense attack is the way to go.

The Spearow merely dodge the Ice Beam with ease, then moving in for a Tri Attack (Egg Move), unleashing three beams at Shell, these combining the powers of Ice Beam, Flamethrower and Thunderbolt, hoping to deal some major damage to Shell.

"Oh Geez." Aegis said to himself. He said this because the part of him that wanted to be a Battle Tutor completely loved what this pokemon had to offer. Of course, Aegis knew his taste in pokemon was huge and widespread. Even so, Spearows were not on that list. But one with Tri-Attack had promise.

"Shell, roll out of the way, keep moving like a wheel and fire off Ice Beam as you go!" Aegis looked down at Eepress. "We dont have time to waste her buddy. Distract that birdbrain with Swift attack." Streak nodded and unleashed a torrent of swifts at the pokemon while Shell continued to roll and fire Ice Beam out of its shell.
