Moves: Scratch, growl, ember, Flamethrower(tm)

Vic was walking down a wintery road with Flare by his side. He was walking toward Saffron City, and had not caught a single pokemon or seen a trainer. He was hoping for some action before he got to town.

A cold weather it seems. It is unusual for a Bug-type to come out and stay outside, especially when staying put in a wintery road. The Cocoon Pokémon, Metapod is standing still on a snowy patch facing the direction Victor is looking at. It looked emotionless as usual and would be a helpless training dummy. Not much fun but if the EXP is all that matters, this one can at least give some fun.

Wild Metapod appears!

Victor slows his pace, not wanting to frighten the wild metapod just yet. this was his chance to get a new addition to his team, and he didn't want to lose it
"Flare, up ahead, see him?"he said quietly."Go up close and use ember."
Flare advanced slowly, then rushed the metapod. She got close, then used scratch.

Metapod was knocked back a bit, sliding across the snow. It turned towards Charmander, and glared at it, before shining a bit. Afterward, it seemed clear that its shell was harder. Metapod used Harden!

Praying to the gods of his fathers, Vic choose a pokeball out of his bag. "Well, here goes nothing." Vic threw the pokeball at the wild metapod.

The Metapod was sucked into the Pokeball. Rattling around for quite some time, the Pokeball finally made a *Ding!*, signifying the capture was a success.

You have caught Metapod! Would you like to give him a nickname?

Vic walked over to the pokeball witch held his second pokemon. "i think ill name you... Peanut." he smiled in satisfaction and walked away with his pokemon, headed for his new life in the city.

((For future reference, I would recommend lowering the Pokemon's HP more before trying to catch it. Not all of them will be as easy as that one.))

The rest of the walk went undisturbed, until Victor reached the city limits. Outside was a group of kids, Trainers, in fact, who all looked rather spoiled and obnoxious. "Hey, you! Can't get into Saffron unless you battle one of us." This came from the largest of the boys, who seemed to look to him as some kind of leader.

Vic stared at the boy who spoke and said “Hope you’re ready, because we are.” He sent out Flare, who was ready to battle.

The boy sneered. "I'm always ready to win a fight." The boy sent out his Sandshrew. "I'll let you get the first move, you'll need it." The other boys laughed, sure of their leader's prowess.

Foe Sandshrew, Male, Level 5

((I don't use the HP system like Shadow, but I'll RP in such a way to show you how healthy/hurt your enemies become.))

" Perfect" Vic said. "Flare, use flamethrower." Flare's tail fire grew in height, then lowered as Flare let loose a torrent of flame.

The boy's eyes widened; he clearly wasn't expecting such a powerful move. "Sandshrew, use Defense Curl!" The small Ground-type curled up, trying to minimize the damage from the powerful attack. Afterward, Sandshrew stood up, clearly a little shaken from the attack. "Alright, use Poison Sting!" Sandshrew's claws glowed purple, then it fired off a few spikes towards Flare.

Flare jumped upward, dodging two spikes, but the third hit her in the chest. She fell backward, wounded and poisoned. Before Vic could say anything, she rushed forward. Flare used tackle.

Neither Sandshrew or his Trainer was expecting such a quick counterattack, so it was a direct hit. Sandshrew struggled to stand, and almost couldn't lift its arms. "Don't be weak, Sandshrew. We've got this! Use Aerial Ace!" The boy hadn't wanted to use his TM move on Victor and his Pokemon, but he knew it was his only chance.

A mistake it seems, as the moved missed Flare. "Flare, use Flamethrower again." She tried to do so, but was feeling the effects of the poisen. All Flare managed to do was use ember.

((For future reference, Aerial Ace is one of the moves that never misses. I'll let it slide this time, but... meh.))

The attack was enough to knock Sandshrew completely out. "Oh my god... that kid won?" The other kids were whispering. "Tch. Well, I guess you win." The kid threw a few pokedollars at him, and walked away. The city was now open to him.

Charmander gained 5 EXP! He levels up, with 1 EXP left over! You received 300$!

With this victory, Vic walks into Saffron City.

The city sprawled out before him, bright in the midday sun. Saffron's Gym was visible, as was the Dojo next door. Several office buildings towered above the rest of the cityscape, Silph Co. being the tallest. A few houses were scattered around, but most people lived in the apartment buildings, and visitors were encouraged to stay in the city's only hotel.
