Evangeline Empty
PostSubject: Evangeline    Evangeline H6Q0F8zSun Jan 27, 2013 8:30 pm

Name: Subject No. 024
Nickname: Evangeline (Goes by this, and hates it when anyone calls her Angie)
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Rank: Succesful Genetic Splice/Trainer
Birthplace: Unknown, but she was modified and has her earliest memories in a lab hidden in a remote Island in Sinnoh
Battle Style: She doesn't like to use Nev in battle, let's just call it a motherly instinct. Honestly, she's afraid of how he may hurt himself. If she does have to battle, she lacks any experience, but has a quiet and tremendous determination. Because of her past, one little battle is most likely the least of her worries.
Looks:

Personality:
Evangeline, considering her circumstances, is surprisingly positive. Well, if you count sarcastic, impatient, and easily irritated positive. She has zero respect for authority (you would to if all the authority figures in your life stuck you with needles and brought only pain) and will never rest her freedom to speak out. She never quite got the concept of not talking back, nor letting out on an argument. She is a bit awkward around others, considering she tends to avoid civilization and only has Nev to keep her permanent company. She has no care for physical appearance, but finds it irritating when her wings get messed up or dirty, as it's rather uncomfortable. She will hide her wings under a heavy jacket when out in public, but when she believes there is no one around, she'll let them fall at their natural span, stretching them out of their usually folded and irritating position. The one thing that seems to get under her nerves is, well, Nev. He knows just what to say and do to make her mad, and has plenty of years practice at it.
History:
Evangeline wasn't born in natural circumstances. Created and developed in a lab environment, she was born as Subject No. 024, and was completely normal, save for the fact that Swanna DNA had been spliced to her own, and she developed with wings. She wasn't the only experiment created, there were many nameless others, some who didn't have any noticeable mutations and others who grew up to look like dreadful monsters. It seemed appearance wasn't a factor in survival though, as one by one, they all disappeared and died around Angie.

She went on with life, being brainwashed at an early age that life in the lab, as well as all of the strange things in the lab, were normal. All girls grew up with prying eyes belonging to people that poked you with needles and spoke of your genetic unbalance. She grew up with all of the people around her expecting her to die like the rest, but it never happened.

From the scientific standpoint, the research going on is much more fascinating than simply a girl that survived not being human. The lab was studying the human body, and more importantly, the core of the human itself: the soul. They believed that if they could understand the soul, it could lead to immortality, and that would lead to feats beyond any human limitations. It would turn the entire world upside down, the scientists would own the world. Now, you may wonder where Evangeline fits in on all of this. Simply put, she was a side project. They had to figure out if the human body could be comparable with Pokemon aspects, to see if a human soul could truly exist in an imperfect vessel. As they found out, the chances were slim, but not impossible. She would pave the way for what would eventually turn her own world in impossible directions.

When you live your whole life like she did, you don't question anything. When they realized Angie didn't die within her first three years of life, the scientists got their hopes up that they had finally produced a successful specimen, but like any 5 year old, her death didn't even come across her mind. She found haven in the little bit of normal in her strange life: the lead scientist's son, one year old at the time. The boy's name was Nev, at least the short variation was what she had always called him, and they were like inseparable siblings born of slightly similar circumstances. Of course, Nev was as human as can be, he was the son of a scientist, not a freak like her.

When Evangeline and Nev grew older, they also grew wiser. They now knew that their upbringings weren't exactly of the norm, and wings were definitely not a part of the average person. To make matters worse, as she grew and developed into her preteens, the careful experiments had become more perilous and painful. She was constantly studied, both surgically and through hours of observation, and she wasn't allowed free range in the lab like she had for her entire life. It was also around that time that it was confirmed that Nev was dying from a rare disease, there was no cure, and the lead scientist could do nothing but watch has his only loved one grew weaker and weaker each day. He fueled his frustration into his work, never sleeping until he found the answer to the insolvable riddle of human immortality. Trying to save his son is said to have driven him past the brink of insanity. Others say it only enlightened him to the answers he was looking for.

As Nev's days counted down more and more, he became bedridden, and permanently separated from Evangeline. She was now forced to live the rest of her days in a small observation room while in between the horrendous things the scientists did to her. When she went a full day without any contact with another person, not even the researcher who took her vitals every hour on the dot, she knew that Nev had finally died. She didn't quite process grief like a normal person, and denied that he was dead without seeing his body.

This is where details get a bit fuzzy, as shortly after the events, Nev's father disappeared, presumably having taken his own life after realizing just what he had done. Nev was now the first successful, well, transplanted being into another body. It was a harrowing process with a zero chance of success if done with a human body as the new one. No, his only small chance at survival would be the perfectly healthy body of a Pokemon. The procedure is up to your imagination, as only the recent dead body of Nev as well as the now presumed dead scientist who preformed it can't say just what occurred. Nevi's life had been put into a different body, and he did somehow manage to survive.

If you've managed to read this far, pat yourself on the back. Anyway, Evangeline had no idea about the terrible process that had been used on her friend, and life went on as normal. With Nev living life as a Pokemon, his soul, as we'll call his consciousness, had a hard time adjusting. His mind thought himself as a Pokemon while his being felt himself as a person. After many years, he finally became self conscious, and regained his lost memories, truly a successful human second life. With these memories came thoughts and plans of escape, as he too had become soley an experiment and not a valued person. Remembering Evangeline, he helped guide her to escape late at night, he had known the lab like the back of his hand. She didn't know it was him, and he was incapable of human speech, so he could not tell her.

Life outside the lab was strange and new. The pair slowly adjusted, Nev communicating through writing and slowly learning human speech (he had shown himself as Nev to Evangeline), and Angie, who's trying to find her place in the world while worrying about the scientists who may not want their horrid deeds brought to public attention.

Nev now tries to function as normally as he can, and can now fully use human speech. He's still new at being a Pokemon, but he figures it's better than being dead. Evangeline acts as Nev's protector now, trying to keep him out of trouble, but usually getting into trouble herself. Haunted shadows still follow the pair, but who knows where their journey will take them.

Pokémon

Pokemon: Pichu
Nickname: Nev
Gender: Male
Level: 10
Moves: ThunderShock, Tail Whip, Charm, Sweet Kiss
Ability: Static
Personality: He acts like any boy in his early teens, because he kinda is. He's very childish and jokey, and can't be taken seriously. At times, he sometimes forgets who he is, and will act like a normal Pichu. These don't tend to last long, but they worry Evangeline.
