Ray was well known in Eterna City as someone who, while not a troublemaker, would not refuse a fight when someone taunts him. Most of the times he finishes fights quick and without putting the opponent in any pain, unless one has managed to piss of the normally calm boy. When this happens Ray keeps the battle as long going as possible while letting his opponent lose all hope by torturing the opponent both physically as mentally, which his starting Pokémon seems to be the perfect Type for. Ray mostly keeps his head in the game but sometimes pulls out some strange strategies out his - as some people say - ass. He tries to keep the fight as fair as possible on the outside while his real intentions are to put the fight into his favor, using any means necessary.

Ray is a young man standing at an impressive 6 feet while weighing 80 kg. He is completely dressed in black. He wears a long, dark cloak that is decorated with surrounding leather straps. The cloak also possesses a black interior, and a chin-high collar. The leather straps are meant to protect normal people who have not been trained since childhood against him if he would ever fight one. On his back he carries a conical straw hat with small ornamental torques and tassels. If he would put the hat on the torques and tassels would hang down over his faces. The hat serves multiple purposes. The first is that not many people would recognize him and it blocks out the rain and, in case of extreme heat, sun rays. Under his cloak Ray possesses multiple weapons such as senbon and kunai, most dipped in a bit of poison in case he is under attack and doesn’t has the time to call upon his Pokémon.

Ray has a strange personality. At one moment he can be calm, tranquil and give of a feeling of the breeze. Soothing and calming to anyone. But this can change into cold and heartless if any of his friends are in danger. Ray will do anything in his ability to make his friends as happy as possible while bringing pure terror to anyone who dares to harm him. Ray will do anything in his power to win his battles. The only exception to this rule is the way of the warrior, he will at no cost break this code as he was brought up to follow this way.

Ray was brought up in the most northern region in the Pokémon universe, the Sinnoh Region. There he was brought up in the 'History Living' Eterna City. His family consisted of his parents, and two younger siblings. Both his parents were apprentices in the Gym of a city of the Kanto Region that is well known for its use of Poison Type Pokémon and living the way of the ninja, Fuchsia city. Due to the fact his parents were raised as ninjas with Poison Types living nearby they have taught all their children to live the same way, but only the eldest truly lived their way. The middle child thought that Poison Types were useless while the youngest simply hated this particular type because it was not as 'elegant' as the Grass Type, which it preferred. Both the middle and the youngest thought that their way of living was too 'old fashioned' for their taste and thus never undertook any real ninja training. Of course because of this the eldest child was the most loved of the three, which is still a sour subject to the other siblings. Because the eldest showed so much interest in the way of the ninja and Poison Type he was giving his first partner when he was twelve years old as an egg by his parents. The two other children thought it would be a smart idea to finally exact their revenge on the most loved child, by taking the egg away and throwing it away. What the youngest siblings didn't expect the moment they laid their hands on the egg were senbons being send the way of the youngest sibling and a harsh kick to the middle. Because of this accident the tensions between the three siblings were so stressed that the parents saw it was necessary that the eldest needed some time out. What the youngest siblings didn't know though was that their parents didn't just throw the eldest out the house but that they send him to Eterna Forest where he could train himself further in the way of the ninja together with his Pokémon partner. When the two found out about this they left the house the moment they got their first partner to never return, not even when the eldest came back home after his training was over after three years. The eldest didn't really care about his younger siblings who would harm even their own brethren to gain even the slightest bit of happiness, even if it was gained in a foul way. The moment the eldest got back home he challenged both of his parents to a fight so that his training would be finally over. After a hard battle in the Eterna Forest, as they didn't want to destroy any city property, that lasted for ten days the eldest sibling came out victorious, both of his parents proud beyond words and they partied for two days and two nights. His parents gave him valuable items that he could use when he left on his journey and warned him countless times that both of his siblings would start with their quest when he turned seventeen years old. Where they got this information he never bothered to ask as he didn't care, but he knew one thing. If he ever found his traitorous siblings they'd be in for a painful time, inflicted by him and his partner, who hadn't forgot their action on him when he was just an egg.
