::Rock Hard Battle::

Tom had finally found his way out of Viridian Forest, a place for annoying large amount of bug-type pokemon. They didn't pose much of a problem though as he could easily beat them with his freshly evolved Beldum which was no a Metang. Now that he was outside of the forest he returned Metang back to it's pokeball. It seemed somewhat tired from using his new moves so much. After that was done he started walking around Pewter City. He had information that there is a shop which sells TMs for Pokemon somewhere in this city. After strolling around the city for nearly half an hour he finally found the shop and was able to buy himself the necessary items. Tom bought Rain Dance, Earthquake, Shadow Ball, Ice Beam, and Scald TMs which he would later teach to his pokemon.

Right after shopping he headed straight towards Pewter City Pokemon Center to get is pokemon all healed up. The boy had decided to not stall his battle with Brock and thus decided that he would challenge the gym leader sometimes today after he had taught both his pokemon some new moves. Once at the pokemon center he gave his pokeballs to Nurse Joy who quickly healed them. Now that Tom's pokemon were back at their full health he quickly taught them the moves, practiced with them a little bit, and once again healed them. He wouldn't say no to a long nap but as the gym would probably be closed soon he decided to imminently go and challenge Brock.

While moving towards the Gym Tom was thinking out a fighting strategy. He didn't really know which kind of pokemon the gym leader had, just that they were supposed to be rock-type. He knew a way how to deal with rock-pokemon, especially since he had a Metang and Feebas, who were both rather useful against that type. Tom knew that Feebas would be rather useless in the fight since the gym probably didn't have a special water area for the fish to swim around. He believed in his Metang though and didn't let it bother him. After a nice ten minute walk around the city he finally found the gym. It was a rather big building somewhat resembling a hangar or a storage room.

The boy calmly approached the building. He opened the door and walked into the gym. It was his first time in a place such as that so he was even somewhat interested in it. Right in middle of the building there was something which seemed to be a pokemon battlefield, with several big boulders placed around the field. Tom noticed a man standing at other end of the building and spoke with little louder voice than usual so he could hear him, "Hello! I would like to challenge Pewter City's Gym Leader!"

"You would like to challenge this gym's leader? Why do you think you deserve to challenge Brock?" a brown haired young man said as he poked his head from behind a boulder. He had been back behind the boulder with his geodudes practicing some fun stuff. He would wait until the boy answered to continue what he was going to say. "Tell me, boy, what is your name? I am Brock, Pewter Gym's gym leader. And, I accept your challenge!"
He then walked to his side of the gym and signaled for Tom to take his space. The first pokemon he called out was his favorite Geodude.

(Brock calls out his lvl 12 geodude!)

"I am Tom Riddle. And I deserve to challenge you because I am stronger," answered the boy with a slight smirk on his face. He walked to his side of the battlefield after the gym leader had signaled to do so. 'Hmm, a Ground-, Rock-type pokemon. Now how are we going to deal with him,' was Tom thinking. He knew exactly what he was going to do though. He slipped his hand under his cloak and pulled out a pokemon. "Feebas, if you would do the honor?" asked the boy while throwing the pokeball to the field which triggered it, making Feebas pop out from it. It imminently started flapping on the ground. After all it was a pokemon who could only live in water. Of course Tom knew it but he actually wanted to make Brock a little bit pissed, making him think that Tom was making fun over him. "Your move, Brocky boy," taunted Tom the gym leader.

"Are you really going to treat your companion that way? Go Geodude, use tackle on the feebas! Be prepared to dodge any attacks." Brock said and lost some respect for the boy in front of him. "I expect you to fight your best and only if I deem you worthy will I admit defeat. Do your best!"
Geodude followed Brock's directions to the tee. He zoomed in for a great tackle and then wizzed back out of the way.

(I will let you decide if the attacks hit your pokemon as long as you don't say everything misses.)

Tom listened to Borck. He hadn't expected such an answer though. The boy had hoped that the gym leader would think that Tom was underestimating him and thus losing his cool. He didn't answer anything to the boy. After all he had a battle to win and he hoped his Feebas would help him with that. "Intercept with Ice Beam, cover the ground." The Feebas quickly charged up energy inside himself and then fired a beam of cyan energy right at Geodude, attempting to cancel out his opponent's tackle. Since the Ice Beam traveled so close to the ground it also froze it, covering it with a slippery layer of ice, creating about a 60 centimeter wide path towards Geodude.

Geodude was grazed by the ice beam and shook it off rather well for a rock pokemon. Most of the beam had traveled under the geodude and he continued forward in his tackle, going straight for the fish. "Geodude, once you're close enough, use rock throw!" "Geodude!" it shouted in acknowledgement and picked up a huge rock. Once just close enough, the rock flew right at the flopping fish.

Tom didn't give his pokemon any command. He knew that Feebas would have no way to dodge such an attack and thus didn't even bother giving a command. He could have returned the pokemon to it's pokeball but Tom saw this battle as a chance to give Feebas a little bit experience what it would be to take a hit and be in a pokemon battle. The rock hit Feebas right in the forehead. It caused a lot of damage and another such attack would probably knock the fish out. "Feebas, use Scald," said Tom really plainly. The command made Feebas aim his mouth right at Geodude and fire a hot stream of water out of it's mouth.

[If rain dance would be used then would it start raining inside the gym or outside?]

Just before Brock could call out to geodude to dodge the scald attack hit the pokemon square in the face. The attack was quite effective as well, though before it could shake the pokemon, Brock called out to it. "Brush it off, you're alright, Geodude! Quick, use tackle again!" As fast as his little rock body could move, he dashed off and went to tackle the feebas.

"Feebas, stop it with another Scald," commanded Tom his pokemon but it was no use. Because the Feebas wasn't in it's natural habitat his energy faded more quickly and it simply didn't have the strength for another water attack. The pokemon was hit head on by the tackle which made him fly back about half a meter. Feebas was knocked out by the attack. Tom nodded and pointed Feebas' pokeball towards him, "Return," said Tom exactly at the time a red light sucked the pokemon back in. "Guess you did well for your first battle," complimented Tom his Feebas when he put the pokeball back to his belt.

"Now the real thing starts," intimidated Tom Brock. He took the pokeball of his Metang and released it onto the battlefield. The boy wasn't going to waste any time and imminently after Metang took in the position he commanded, "Metang. Shadow Ball." The Iron Claw pokemon reacted instantly, raising his right arm and quickly charging up energy which formed a dark ball into it's hand. The Metang pushed it off and the dark ball of energy started flying towards Geodude at high speed. Metang used Shadow Ball.

Brock called out to his geodude to dodge but the pokemon was too close and got hit with the full shadow ball. As a last ditch effort before it fainted, it used the one tm it knew to melt the ice on the floor. A huge shot of flame launched from geodude's maw and completely melted the ice. It then fainted and was called back by Brock.
"I'm just getting started myself! Go onix!" he called and tossed out the pokeball. The giant rock snake roared and looked at the metang before him. "Onix, rock smash! Followed by harden!"
"Onix!" the pokemon shouted and went to smash a rock over the metang's head.

With a slight smirk hidden by his coat Tom commanded the Metang, "Take it and Metal Claw." Without any hesitation Metang the pokemon charged into the Fighting type move with it's arms glowing greyish. Metang put forth it's left hand with what he tried to absorb as much damage as possible. The strategy turned out to be effective but Metang's defense was lowered. Once to rock was blocked he moved right into offense, charging towards Onix's lower body to deliver a Metal Claw attack with it's right hand and maybe make the pokemon lose it's balance a little bit.

With the onix's hardened body, the strike hardly affected the pokemon's stance. Brock smiled and called out, "Now for your favorite combo, go Onix!" The giant snake pokemon slithered forward and slithered backward to taunt the pokemon before him. The Onix used the move curse twice and then charged in for the attack. This time it was the attack rock tomb.

I'm guessing that we'll call the rock smash a normal hit?

The Metang was somewhat pissed at Onix for taunting it like that and also cursing out of the blue. He wanted to break the pokemon but first it had to deal with the huge rocks rising from the ground trying to surround it. "Earthquake and then Rain Dance!" shouted Tom loudly so Metang could hear him. The pokemon seemed to have plans of his own though. First of all it smashed his two steel hands right at the ground, causing the battlefield to shake really heavily. Metang had used Earthquake. The effect of Earthquake also made the rocks from Onix's Rock Tomb crumble, canceling it's effect. Now, Metang's eyes glowing more red than ever, it started rushing right towards Onix's head, trying to smash into him using Take Down and knock him out of balance which would be easier now thanks to the shaking effect of Earthquake.

Onix was furious that the metang had negated his attack. It was also not happy the metang charging him. It tried to perform rock polish and failed. The swipe from metang was anticipated and he tried to use it to his advantage by turning his fall into a rock smash.
