Marie and Midnight Leave Home [Mod needed]

Marie checked her pack once more before leaving on the trail. Seeing that she had everything, she closed the strap and walked down the dirt trail. "I wonder what kind of pokemon we will meet." Marie said. Midnight, her black Ninetales, looked over. Marie gave her a pat and they continued walking. Soon a ____ jumped in their path. Marie jumped back to avoid walking into it. Midnight approached with a growl.

It was an angry Rattata, that also looked rather hungry. It might have been attracted by the smell of any food Marie might be carrying in her pack, and planned to take it by force. Normally they would wait and steal from the bag while trainers weren't looking, but it was clear this Rattata was simply desperate. It barked a bit back at Midnight angrily, taking a fighting stance. (Yes, mice and rats 'bark')

"Looks like it wants to fight!" Marie said. Midnight growled, stepping in front of Marie. "Ok, use quick attack!" Midnight dashed at the small rat-like pokemon at full speed. Marie had used this move in hopes of her pal being the first to make a move.

Rattata was clearly caught off guard, as the enemy seemingly vanished. Reappearing last second, Rattata only had time to widen his eyes before the hit landed, sending him tumbling back a few feet. He caught back on his feet, sliding the rest of the way before catching the Ninetales in his sight. He too, seemingly vanished as he rushed full speed at Midnight, attempting his own Quick Attack!
