A New Challenge

Oliver entered the town taking in deep breaths of the swift breeze. He had only left home a few days a go but was already optimistic and confident that the gym challenge would be easy. He then moved down the road following the route everyone else was going calmly and slowly walking taking in all the sights, all the buildings and all the architecture. Oliver eventually reached a large building which looked like a restaurant entering it and emerging into the large expanse of a beautiful dining room noticing all of the happy customers eating their food then noticing the three waiters.

Oliver knew this was the place and realized that they must be the ones who he would have to battle for the gym badge. Approaching the waiters when they had all regrouped he asked them "Excuse me but may I have a gym battle please?" smiling his usual friendly smile and pushing his hair from his eyes. Oliver then clutched one the pokeball's on his belt enlarging it and patiently awaiting a response from them ready for the battle to begin whenever they were ready.

"Sure, you can have a battle, but this is a special gym. If you can't tell, there are three gym leaders here, each of us uses a different type of Pokemon, and we base ourselves on type advantages. Although, you look like you're not from these parts, so I'm pretty sure you aren't our usual challenger. Since this is an uncommon happening, we're going to let you choose who you face. My name is Cilan," Cilan said, "and these are my brothers Chili and Cress. So, which one of us do you want to face?"

Oliver smiled thinking before settling upon a decision and telling them "how about a triple battle seen as there are three of you and I have 6 pokemon so how about it huh?" bringing out his Milotic, Electivire and Accelgor. Oliver then continued here is my team how about yours now then. His team all rhythmically maneuvering around the field awaiting their opponents who they would have to battle to achieve their trainer a badge.

The sweet aroma lifted from the kitchen floating through air until it reached Oliver striking him instantly causing him to become slightly hungry but instead he knew he would have to complete the battle before anything else and collect his first badge on the way to becoming the Pokemon League Champion and Top Researcher in the field of pokemon evolution.

The three gym leaders looked at each other grinning. All three nodded, then they leaned together and whispered to one another. "We accept the challenge," Cress said. All three threw Pokeballs into the air, and out came Pansage, Panpour, and Pansear to face the evolved Pokemon. "It is common manners to allow the challenger the first move," Chili said, gesturing toward the battlefield.

Oliver nodded "Then I shall" he replied calling to his pokemon "Milotic now use Hydro Pump on Pansear, Electivire Flame Thrower on Pansage and Accelgor use Energy Ball on Panpour!" the trio each following through with the commands which had been given their honed accuracy kicking in. Milotic opened his mouth the large Hydro Pump attack coming forth and propelling itself towards Pansear. Electivire in the meantime doing the same opening up his mouth aswell launching the Flames towards Pansage with speed, accuracy and power. Finally Accelgor holding out his hands parallel to each other an orb of green energy forming in them and firing off the attack towards Panpour confidently and straight faced.

Oliver watched each and every one of the attack get used smiling at his pokemon and their efforts to assist him in winning his first gym badge. He then awaited the conclusion of the attacks hoping for the best but in all honesty quietly confident in them.

Pansear barely managed to jump out of the torrent of water, but the sheer power of the attack was disoreantating, and he struggled to recover. Panpour and Pansage were not as lucky. They were both hit head on by the unexpected attacks, and both were defeated due to their foe's immense strength. Cilan and Cress shared a startled glance, and they returned their Pokemon to prevent further damage. They stepped back, and allowed Chili the stage.

"Pansear," Chili's voice cracked, "Attack!" Pansear made a move as if he were trying to obey his trainer, but he ended up tripping and falling down instead. It seemed Oliver was making quite some fools out of the Striaton City gym leaders!

Oliver smiled "Two down, one to go, Come on guys" he looked to his pokemon "Milotic Water Pulse, Electivire Thunder and Accelgor Acid Spray Now!" each of them moving forwards. Milotic moved it's tail rhythmically before causing a sphere of water to appear in his mouth firing it off to his tail which caught the sphere rolling it around before smashing it towards Pansear like a tennis ball. Electivire meanwhile had charged up a large amount of electricity firing it off towards the Water Pulse in the form of Thunder, the Thunder then charged the Water Pulse with electricity causing it to become more powerful being infused with electric and water. Accelgor then followed up the attack with Acid Spray firing it at the Water Pulse which struck filling the Water Pulse with Poison and boosting it's power further.

Oliver watched the large Blue, Purple and Yellow orb of water fly at Pansear with speed and power knowing that this would be the attack to win him the badge. He then looked to Chilli waiting to see the reaction on his face of Pansear falling.

Pansear didn't stand a chance, and he knew it. He tensed, but did not move, and took the attacks with as much dignity as he could. Chili's face showed shock, disappointment, and defeat all at once, and without a word, he returned his loyal monkey. "Great battle," he said to Oliver before walking to the back of the gym and picking up a neatly bundled package and handing it to Oliver. As Oliver probably knew very well, the package contained the sought after Trio Badge along with the TM Bulk Up and $1680.

Chili joined Cress and Cilan, and together they waved Oliver off, their pride still somewhat hurt by the embarrassment that he had caused them.

Oliver smiled replying "Yeah that was fun" before claiming his prize, He then placed the Trio Badge into his badge case, placing it in his inside jacket pocket before saying "Great work guys" returning his pokemon to their pokeball's and leaving the gym. Once outside he checked his map and knew where he would have to go next... To take on the Nacrene City Gym Leader. Oliver then headed towards the path for Nacrene moving along it with ease a particular sense of urgency to his walk knowing there wouldn't be long before the main pokemon league tournament took place, He was behind and would have a lot of catching up to do, but one gym down now 7 more to go.
