Adventure Begins: Part 3: Arrival in Oldale Town

Makai strolled amongst the path as he entered into Oldale town. Bagon was sitting upon his shoulders eating a berry with a smile on its face. Makai’s fingered lingered to the two pokeballs at his hip lingering over the balls containing his two new pokemon Wurmple and Poochyena both strong and had good strong powerful fighting spirits never to back down against a foe. He would train the two ensuring they would become strong, so strong they would defeat all those that stood in his path on his way to become a successful pokemon trainer. Makai cracked his neck as he strolled into the small town gazing over the people within the streets a blank gaze on his features as he stared directly at the pokemon center of the town. He grabbed the two pokeballs containing Wurmple and Poochyena as he approached the small center.

In his years of travelling he had been to numerous pokemon centers not only to heal his pokemon but him as well through his tough rigorous training methods for him and his pokemon. The doors opened up for Bagon as he walked inside the center tossing the two spheres up and down one after another juggling them as he gazed around the center. He could feel the fear from those within it seeing the tall giant of a trainer walking in with the two deadly bundles upon his back. His cloak fluttered as he headed to the front desk looking for Nurse Joy. He raised a hand a brought it down upon the bell allowing the ring to echo throughout the pokemon center.

A lot of shuffling and mumbled voices could be heard through a door on the other side of the counter in the pokémon center. One voice was louder than the rest, the voice of a young female. Her chopped up words could only just be made out every now and then, “No, hold this….Don’t worry….little guy hang in there.” It was fairly obvious there was an emergency at hand, meaning the nurse would take a while to be done. As the bell rung, instead of the normal nurse to help a young girl that looked like a miniature nurse joy appeared. She wore the uniform of a nurse and her hair in a similar style to the rest, the only difference was she had sandy blonde hair, rather than the normal pink that all the nurses seemed to have. The little girl eyed the tall man, he stood at nearly double her height and she gulped before speaking, “May I help you?” She asked looking nervously at the young man. His cloaked appearance not helping to calm her nerves in the slightest.

Makai stood their patiently as he waited for someone to come. He watched as a miniature version of nurse joy appeared, the only different she had sandy blonde hair rather than pink like most of the joy’s did. Makai stared down at her as she gulped before asking if she could help, she spoke with a nervous tone. The Bagon leapt from Makai’s shoulder onto the small counter and seemed to stare coldly at the nurse its eyes hardened like its master’s. Makai retrieved Bagon’s pokeball and placed it upon Bagon’s head returning the small dragon. The pokeball was slightly rusty form years of use, decaying as it was now just completely silver from the years. Makai placed Bagon inside its pokeball on the table followed by his other two pokemon.

“Bagon needs rest, Wurmple is burnt, Poochyena requires rest” spoke Makai in a harsh tone as he eyed the girl with his cold emotionless gaze. He pressed Wurmple’s pokeball as a red light shot out allowing for the small bug to appear on the counter, a new change of leaves and the odd yellow mixture placed upon its skin to help with the burns. Makai folded his arms over giving an uncaring gaze.

The young girl nodded, "R-r-right away sir." She replied, still nervous as she gazed at the pokéballs and then at the red, worm pokémon on the counter. Seeing it was covered in a strange mixture of herbs she guessed this man knew a lot about pokémon health and wellbeing. This calmed her a little; at least he didn't seem to be the type to mistreat his pokémon. He was just a little scary looking, that was all. She picked up the Wurmple first, knowing that burns come before those that simply need rest and took it through the door into the back room of the pokémon center. As the door swung open and closed Nurse Joy and a Chansey could be seen for a fraction of a second with a small, fox like pokémon as she fought to save its life. The young girl returned a few minutes later to retrieve the pokéballs from the counter, "I'll be back in a minute." She said, with a small smile on her face now as she grew used to the trainer's presence. She left through the door again and just as she said she was back a minute later with all 3 pokémon all healed and ready to battle. "There you go." The girl bowed slightly to the man before rushing back into the back room to help the nurse with the sick pokémon.

Makai stood patiently as the young girl grabbed Wurmple taking it to the back of the center to allow it to help, before coming back and retrieving the pokeballs. Makai yawned softly as the girl returned a few moments later with the three pokemon within their balls. Makai retrieved the pokeballs ignoring the girl as he left his cloak fluttering as he left the doors opening for him. Makai left the center and headed straight to route of one to begin Bagon’s training. It only took a few moments before the tall figure reached Route 103. Makai gave a yawn as he settled into a stance on Route 103. The sky was clear and the winds were gentle as he stood opposite his Bagon, the small dragon ten feet away from him. The Small dragon glared up at its master as Makai glared back. The two never breaking eye contract as Makai dropped one of the black silk bundles his hand going to his first Odachi. His fingers curled around the handle of the blade as he slowly unsheathed it with a click of the guard. Makai withdrew the blade and discarded the night black sheathe allowing it to fall amongst the ground as the silk wrapped around it followed. Makai readied himself into a single stance the tip of the blade aimed to the ground, his left side facing Bagon, his right hand holding the sword with his arm bent back and legs spread apart evenly.

“You know the drill Bagon. Come at me with all you’ve got” spoke Makai as he readied his stance. Bagon nodded and breathed in moulding the flames necessary to its lungs. Bagon breathed out expelling a large jet of flames from its mouths. The torrent off flames rushed forward as the jet flew over the tree burning it as it headed straight towards Makai. The Trainer rolled to his left out of the way of the incoming flames landing in a crouching position. He shot forward with his great speed turning the blade so the blunt side would face Bagon. Makai raced forward quickly getting in range of Bagon as he slashed from the right to the left. Bagon left up into the air landing on the blade and leaping over Makai landing behind him. Bagon shot forward aiming to rush its Master.

Makai planted the blade in the ground and pushed himself up into the air. Bagon rushed straight past Makai skidding across the grass as the trainer touched the ground and ripped the blade from the ground. Makai twirled the Odachi and rushed forward again holding it to the left gripping the handle with both hands. Makai headed towards Bagon and swung the blade upwards. Bagon ducked under the blade and shot forward jaws open wide to bite its master. Makai twirled around the pokemon and swung downwards aiming to strike Bagon upon his head. Bagon rolled forward avoiding the blunt side of the blade as it struck the ground. Dirt and dust kicked up into the air from the impact of the blade.

Bagon turned to its master breathing it and releasing a small jet of flames from its mouth. The stream of flames shot forward towards Makai. Makai readied himself eyeing the small streak of flames as he raised his sword high above his head holding the blade with both hands. As the small jet of flames got closer Makai swung down hard with all his might. The blade connected with the flames as a strong force of wind came down behind the blade splitting the flames in half making them pierce in half splitting around Makai singeing the ends of Makai’s cloaks in the flames. The two streams of flames struck two separate trees behind him engulfing them in flames.

Makai rushed forward grabbing his fallen scabbard holding in a reverse grip with his left hand. He spun around and went to strike down Bagon with the scabbard. Bagon slid forward getting on its stomach as he slid under the scabbard and between Makai’s legs. The Bagon jumped up and went to bite Makai in the back. Makai turned and brought his scabbard around using it to block Bagon’s mouth. The dragon’s teeth latched onto the scabbard digging into it. Bagon tossed the scabbard and Bagon through the air causing the dragon to land a few metres away from him roughly five metres away.

Bagon spat the scabbard out of its mouth and readied itself for rush its master again. Makai rolled along the ground grabbing his second sword. The black silk wrap fell from the blade as he withdrew the blade with his left hand. He twirled the twin six feet Odachi holding the one in his left hand in a reverse grip and the right in a normal grip. Makai raced forward and leapt up into the air and brought his left blade down aiming to cut Bagon in half. Bagon reared its head allowing the blade to strike its rock hard skull. Sparks erupted from the two as the blade grinded against the dragon’s skull.

Makai twisted his body and brought the second katana around to slice Bagon at the neck. The Dragon quickly pushed off its left leg doing a roll to the left avoiding the second blade as it struck the ground cutting through blades of grass as they flew up into the air. Bagon stared at its master and glared as it readied itself once more. Bagon rushed forward using all its might within its tiny legs releasing a breath of fire encasing itself in flames. Makai leapt over the flame encased dragon as it head butted a tree stump engulfing it in flames. Makai turned to face the dragon and charged towards him. He swung his left blade connecting with the side of the small pokemon sending it rolling to the left.

Bagon rolled across the terrain digging its tiny arms into the ground stopping its movement. Bagon jumped up and breathed in channelling flames to its lungs. Bagon breathed out expelling a large stream of flames towards Makai. The raging wave of flames rushed towards the dragon rapidly. Makai turned and dashed towards a large tree and leapt up onto a tall branch. He placed one of the swords in his mouth and grabbed another branch swinging, himself, up onto it before leaping to another tree. As he leapt the flames struck the tree he was on engulfing it in flames. Makai jumped down from the branch landing on the ground in a crouched position eyeing the dragon carefully. Makai dropped his blades settling into a combat stance as he rushed forward. He raised his right leg bringing it down as a powerful axe kick. Bagon leapt back avoiding the kick as it struck the ground causing dust to rise up.

Makai kicked off with his right leg and spun as he headed towards Bagon. He brought his left leg around as a spinning kick. Bagon growled as it was struck in the head forcing its head into the ground making it eat dirt. Makai leapt back landing a few metres away reading himself into a stance palms open and ready as Bagon climbed to its feet. Bagon rushed Makai as it leapt into the air to bite him. Makai turned his body avoiding the bite as he struck Bagon in the face with his right palm. The tiny dragon went tumbling through the air and across the grass rolling across the ground. Bagon jumped up growling as it rushed forward again. Makai twisted around the dragon again and round house kicked the tiny reptile into a tree stump.

Bagon climbed back up to its feet growling again as it eyed its master. Bagon breathed in deeply channelling flames and moulding them within its lungs. The flames roared into its mouth but Bagon kept its mouth shut. Its tiny cheeks growing in size as it held back the flames. Bagon reared its head back and launched a giant ball of fire three times the size of its own body. Makai eyed the fireball carefully as it approached him rapidly. Makai dived out of the way as the flames roared past him slamming into a group of bushes engulfing them in flames.

Makai rushed towards the dragon getting within range and delivering a harsh back handed chop to the dragon. The tiny pokemon released a cry of pain as Makai kicked it into the air so he was eye level. Makai spun and brought his elbow around slamming into Bagon’s back sending the dragon crashing into the dirt. Bagon slowly climbed to its feet huffing and puffing trying to regain its bearings from the attack. Makai smiled as he came to a stop and grabbed his twin blades covering them back in their silk, “Alright you did good Bagon. Trainings over for now get some rest” Makai retrieved Bagon’s rusty pokeball allowing the red beam of light to shoot out and grab the pokemon returning it to its ball for rest.

Word count: 1510

Bagon earned 151 experience points from this training session (1510 words). During this time Bagon grew to level 21. Bagon also learnt Headbutt and Focus Energy.

Through the shadows of the trees a pair of eyes had been curiously watching the duo battle. The creature was intrigued as to why the pokémon so willingly risked its life to battle a human, even one that seemed to posses such skill and strength. It sighed silently to itself but continued to stay hidden in the bush it had found for safety from the two. It glanced at the rusty pokéball that the human held in its hand with distaste, just the idea of being someone’s pet disgusted this pokémon beyond belief. No, it was never going to be like that foolish dragon pokémon, not in a million years. Not even for all the power in the world. It shook its head in a disgusted manner and was about to leave when it accidently stepped on a small branch which cracked under its foot. The pokémon froze and stared at the human, hoping he had not heard.

Makai yawned loudly only to stop as he heard the sound of a cracking branch. Makai turned to the noise grabbing one of his blades. The black silk flew up into the air as he withdrew the blade with a loud click and hiss. Makai stared towards the bush he heard the cracking noise. His cold demonic like eyes glaring down at the branch as he twirled the blade readying himself, “Who’s there! Reveal yourself!” Spoke Makai as he grabbed Wurmple pokeball the closest to his left hand as he held the sword in his right hand. He slowly made his way to the bush his blade’s tipped aimed to the bush as he stood five feet away from it his blade pulled back so the tip was near the bush, “NOW!” Makai shouted in a demanding voice full of malice as he readied his blade to defend himself if necessary.

A growling could be heard from the bush as Makai approached it. The pokémon glared straight back up at the human, its eyes returning the cold, dead stare. Before the trainer stood the lightning pokémon, strong and proud. Its hard green and yellow fur sparked with electricity as the swords drew close to it. The pokémon’s yellow nose sniffed the air and it screwed up its eyes at the scent of the trainer. It could barely stand the smell as the sword drew close, the human’s scent was all over the thing, disgusting! The electric dog like pokémon bared its teeth and growled menacingly at the human, such a filthy and vile thing, how dare it point a weapon at it? The pokémon looked mightily unimpressed with the situation and continued to glare at Makai with distaste. The pokémon was rare to the area, an Electrike. How it had come to live in this area of the region was a mystery to everyone but itself. It had had enough of humans though and turned its nose up at the Makai before turning to leave the scene.

Makai heard the growling and eyed the push as he watched as a pokemon could be seen through the bushes. Its hard green yellow fur sparked with electricity identifying it as an electric type pokemon from the looks of things an Electrike especially rare in this area. Makai placed Wurmple’s pokeball back on his belt and retrieved Bagon’s rusty pokeball. He tossed the pokeball into the air as a red beam of light erupted from the ball appearing directly in front of Electrike’s path stopping it from leaving issuing the challenge to it. Bagon appeared from the red beam of light shaking its head as it felt new power rushing through it as it gained new strength, regardless of how exhausted it felt form its battle with its master it was up for another challenge.

Bagon glared at the Electric pokemon and it spoke, “Bagon gon ba” spoke Bagon issuing the challenge of battle to the electric as it puffed up its chest as it pushed its feet into the ground, his sharp eyes glaring at the electric type daring him to leave. Makai folded his arms as he glanced at his dragon pokemon. Bagon snarled at Electrike speaking another message “Gon Bagon ba-gon ba” spoke the dragon in a tone as if to state that the electric time was a coward and weak.

The Electrike grew angry as the Bagon was called out for battle. What a pathetic human forcing the dragon pokémon to do its bidding. The electric pokémon hated humans that treated pokémon as nothing more than tools for battle. It glared at the Bagon, but not with the same hate it showed towards the human, it showed more pity for such a strong and rare pokémon. The Electrike sighed at the sight and glared more angrily at the human again as Bagon claimed it to be a coward. The electric pokémon was not only annoyed by this comment but now a challenge had been issued it was not going to back down. The dragon would pay for its comments. "Iiike!" The wild, blue pokémon shrieked at the duo before it. It then eyed the Bagon before summing up together a bunch of electricity, feeling its power growing over its body and fur before sending out a wave of paralysing electricity towards it opponent.

Makai eyed the Electrike noticing the angry look it held so it hated humans huh interesting. Makai nodded to Bagon and turned walking over to a stump where he sat down and yawned loudly not really paying any attention to the battle. Bagon eyed the Electrike with a grin as it readied itself. Bagon watched as the pokemon shrieked as it summoned its powers releasing a wave of electricity towards the dragon. Bagon grinned and rolled to the side to avoid the incoming electric attack. Bagon breathed in cheeks puffing out as it moulded its fire element into its lungs preparing its first attack. Bagon stored the flames and opened its mouth launching three compressed balls of fire each the size of a football. The three fireballs raced through the air side by side from the compressed flame thrower. Makai yawned as he laid down on the stump his back to the battle.

The Electrike grinned slightly at the foolishness of the Bagon. It had been watching it fight for ages and was well prepared to take on the little dragon pokémon. The electric pokémon decided to have a little fun with the dragon pokémon first before going in for the kill. It watched as the three fireballs roared towards its current position before simply crouching down and leaping over them with ease. The Electrike wasted no time, the moment it landed back on the ground on the other side of the flames it began charging towards the Bagon with determination. It made it appear that it was about to use Tackle on the dragon pokémon, however at the last moment it sent out the wave of paralysing electricity from its body again. Its eyes gleamed with dislike for this pokémon as it gave the Bagon an evil glare and ran right passed, the Thunder Wave rushing towards the Bagon quickly, giving it little time to avoid such a move. Electrike hoped its surprise attack would be successful, though it truly did have little chance of avoiding such a clever technique.

Bagon eyed the enemy pokemon its eyes never leaving as it waited patiently for it to attack. The Electrike leaped over the reaping fireballs and headed straight towards Bagon. A wave of electricity erupted from its body as it gave Bagon an evil glare. Bagon pushed its knees down as the attack came close. The little dragon pushed off with all its might launching itself up into the air as the attack flew past it narrowly avoiding it at the last second. Bagon while in mid air breathed in deeply flames rushing to its lungs. Bagon forced itself to spin forward as it released the stream of flames from its mouth.

The flames spiralled around Bagon as it spun in mid air the flames wrapping around it. While in Katon months ago Bagon had witnessed a Ninetails performing a flame wheel and had used that for inspiration for this. The flames tightened and compressed within the air as Bagon spun landing on the ground as it spun across the ground the flame appearing like a wheel. Bagon dug its feet into the ground a distance away from Electrike and flung its head forward unleashing the flames. The flame like wheel raced from the dragon’s body racing across the ground burning into the soil as it flew towards.

Bagon steadied itself as it breathed in and rushed towards Electrike its head down going for a headbutt attack. However as it charged it expelled a stream of flames from its mouth encasing its entire body as it went in for a burning heatbutt attack. In the ten months it had been with Makai since its birth, battle strategies and using his flame thrower for different uses had been drilled into the dragons skull to ensure creativity and to surprise its opponents through the unique way it could fight using its flame thrower.

The wild, electric pokémon dug its paws deep into the ground. It grinned as the Bagon charged in head first, covered in a layer of flames that flickered about it as it ran. Electrike didn’t even try to avoid the attack; instead it held its position and waited for the dragon pokémon to collide with it. As Bagon drew near the wild pokémon covered its fur in electricity. It then focused on creating a thunder wave around its body as the dragon pokémon had done with the flame thrower. The Electrike remained focused. If the Bagon continued on its path and decided to strike it down with its body covered in fire than it would be paralysed in the process.

Bagon rushed forward ignoring the electricity that arched around Electrike. It didn't give a damn if it were to be paralysed it would still fight its heart out and try to ignore the effect. As he got closer a grinned formed on his lips as he began to build up flames in his lungs letting them build and build that they forced there way up his throat and too his mouth forcing his cheeks to puff out. As he charged in Bagon opened his mouth letting the roaring hot flames erupt with such force that they pushed him backwards. The roaring flames charged forward turning grass to ash and scorching the ground. The flames seemed to have a mind of their own as they licked across the air growing in size.

The foe fainted.

I actually have no idea never bothered to check. But probably the same as my bagon so about lvl 21
