The Third Gym Battle, The Third Gym Badge

Oliver emerged from a building exiting the bridge into a large city filled with skyscrapers which fascinated him all surrounding one large park area. Oliver then moved through constantly looking at each building he passed before eventually reaching the gym. Entering he saw paintings filling the walls but artwork wasn't what he was there for, it was time to get down to business.

Oliver saw a rather slender man wearing a scarf indoor's he knew this must be the gym leader calling out "Hey I beat the first two gym's as you may have heard and I'm here for your badge Next!" taking a pokeball from his belt and enlarging it before throwing it high into the air he called "Come and join the battle Escavalier!" his pokemon and friend appearing on the battlefield in a beam of white light. Oliver then awaited the answer from the gym leader patiently.

Burgh examined the challenger with interest. The trainer that had laid seige to Lenora as well as Chili and the gang had to be a formidible foe. He liked this kid right off the bat; he was eager and straight to the point. There was no messing around, just as it should be in battles and art as well.

"Welcome," he said, "That is a mighty bug you have there, but can it top my magnificent Pokemon?" With that statement, he threw a Pokeball into the air, and a Whirlipede came out accompanied by a flashing light of the Pokeball. Burgh gestured toward the battle field, a silent offer to give Oliver the first mov, as a gentleman like Burgh should.

Oliver nodded looking to Escavalier and calling out "Go Now Escavalier and use Peck!" Escavalier dashing forwards with speed his lance's glowing a bright white before lunging at Whirlipede to jab head on and take it down.

"Pede!" Whirilipede called in surprise, and was unable to even think of rolling away. The lance hit him, causing his body to hurtle forward from the impact, and upon slamming into the ground, he fainted.

By the groan coming from Burgh, he wasn't prepared for the attack. He returned his beautiful bug silently, then released his Levanny in a burst of red light.

"Levanny, allow him to move. You know what to do afterwards," the gym leader said rather cryptically, waiting for Escavalier's next attack.

Escavalier waited Oliver calling over "Be careful this one seems tricky and looks as though it plans to counter so be prepared and lets use a move with distance, Bug Buzz!" Escavalier obliging and holding up it's lance's letting out a powerful wave heading all around causing a great noise.

Oliver grinned placing earplugs in to block out the noise tossing a pair to Burgh as this wasn't their battle it was their pokemon's and therefore they themselves shouldn't have to be hurt by the pokemon.

A green glow surrounded Levanny, and it seemed to be trying to block the oncoming attack. Levanny was attempting a protect!

Oliver looked calling out "Now Escavalier prevent them the opportunity to use another protect by penetrating it with Hyper Beam!" Escavalier once again obliged by holding out his two lances firing off two Dual-Hyper Beam's at Leavanny.

Levanny wasn't lucky enough to protect from these attacks, and even though he attempted another, it failed. The two beams seemed to rush into his chest, and he fell to his knees before fainting.

"Well this isn't how I planned," Burgh sighed to himself, returning his strongest bug. "Our fate rests on you friend," he muttered, releasing a Dwebble onto the field.

"Now while he's recovering, Dwebble, use Struggle Bug!"

Oliver watched and smiled as the move struck Escavalier who remained standing also smiling Oliver then called to Escavalier "Go Now and Use Slash!" Escavalier raising it's lance and slashing it down on Dwebble with the close range attack. Oliver hoping for the best and watching the move take place.

Dwebble didn't stand a chance, and Burgh let out a noise that seemed a mix between a gurgle and a gasp, but didn't sound like either as he watched his final Pokemon get KO'ed in one hit. In a flash of red, he returned his faithful partner.

"Good job," Burgh said to Oliver a bit flatly. He then walked to a small table at the side of the battle field and retrieved a few items. "Here is the Insect Badge, as well as a TM containing Struggle Bug and $2760, use them wisely."

Oliver nodded swiftly turning towards the exit and leaving heading for Nimbasa City. With his pokemon at his side.
