Personality:
Matthias is a peculiar guy, often doing his best to ignore everyone so they'll ignore him. He's not great at conversing with people, as a result, but he's generally good-natured. He's very adamant that people should treat each other with respect, and whenever he sees a one-sided conflict he's quick to step in and mediate. However, this does get him into some explosive situations, and his quick thinking is often his only saving grace. His two favorite things are cooking and battling, and he considers himself very good at both. He's very awkward, and usually shy, but in a high-pressure situation he's the last to crumble.

Battle Style:
Matthias focuses on a fast-paced, primarily offensive style. He's exceptional at coming up with "out of the box" solutions, such as stirring up sand on the ground to act as a smokescreen. He has trouble with defensive strategies, however, so he tends to suffer against faster/more powerful opponents.

Past Experience / History:
  Matthias was a bright young kid, but also a complete introvert. His parents weren't really sure what to do about it, so they left him to himself for most of his childhood, hoping he'd grow out of it. Although they constantly tried to get him to go play with kids his age, he would have none of it. "I'm more than happy being by myself, I don't want to bother them or risk ruining my own day." By the time he turned 13, his parents got him a Pokemon egg in the hopes that caring for it, and the Poke that hatched from it, would allow him to actually interact with other people. Instead, he completely shut himself away until his beloved Egg hatched - into a Joltik. He babied his new friend for over a year, rarely even training for fear of injuring his new friend. Until, that is, he was challenged to a battle at school and completely humiliated by the older boy and his Flareon. Resolving that the both of them had to become much stronger to prevent that from happening again, Matthias and Joltik began training fervently in the pursuit of strength.
  A year passed in this way, and while Matthias and Joltik had grown stronger, they were both disappointed in the short level of growth they'd achieved. They decided that in order to get truly strong, they would have to get help - and this meant catching another Pokemon. Day after day, the pair would hunt for a new training partner, but Matthias's inexperience caused consistent failure when it came to actually capturing another Poke. This went on for nearly half a year, until they met Skorupi. He and Joltik were nearly even in strength, which seemed to irritate them both - but Matthias knew that meant Skorupi would be a perfect training partner. Joltik and Skorupi battled it out, mandible to mandible, until they were both close to unconsciousness. Matthias's eyes grew wide - this was his shot! He threw a pokeball, and crossed his fingers as Skorupi was sucked in and the ball began to rattle. *Pomf* Skorupi burst out! Rather than running away, as the other pokes always did, it looked at Matthias, waiting. He threw another, shouting in frustration. This time, as the ball rattled and shook, Matthias dropped to his knees - and swore that if he caught Skorupi, then he would make sure they all grew strong together. *Plink!* The ball stopped, confirming Matthias's first successful capture. A few months went by, the three of them bonding and growing stronger, and on Matthias's 16th birthday, he announced to his parents that he was going on a journey to try and collect the Kanto badges. They were completely shocked, but knew that it meant he was finally ready to start interacting with people - not that he wanted to, but it was a necessary evil in his eyes. And so, he's off towards Pewter City, to start his adventure!

I like the history, but it seems a little plain; like, you jump from one event to the other. I'll gladly approve it if you can't really come up with much else to describe it, but if you could and feel like it, adding more detail woudl be epic o3o
