A red light took and a red light gave back, the shimmering form of a young Charmander soared briefly above the battlefield. Bellsprout took the ember attacks and was down before the dragon claw even had a chance to hit, the level boundaries just too far apart. The latter attack hit based on the fact that Bellsprout had already collapsed, his trainer too nervous to release his third level three male. It was just wrong to throw them into an inevitable fight like that.
"Fine, you win! You win! Just." He added, referring to the Rattata that he managed to fell. From his robes he took $144 pokedollars, handing it over with irritation, "Carry on up to the top, then. But don't be too rowdy about it!"

Geo grinned as his partner's first move flawlessly took out the Bellsprout, not even needing to use the Dragon Claw anyways. Jet landed on the ground in front of Geo, still not having to take any damage during any of his battles; the Charmander was just too skilled and strong, and his trainer made him that much better. The boy took the money from the sage, still grinning to himself, "Yes, sir. Sorry. C'mon, Jet!" Jet growled in agreement, and followed Geo as he made his way up another ladder.
Geo and Jet made their way to the next level, but when they got there, all of the people and wild Pokemon seemed to be fast asleep! It was eerily silent for a few moments, but then, clear as day, was the echo of another Charmander's cries. It was near impossible to hear where the sound hailed from, but it might have been from above...?

Geo stopped as he made his way into the next level, and Jet stopped right next to him, illuminating the darkness enough to see that there were pokemon and people all around, sleeping soundly. He looked around, a very confused and slightly scared look on his face, as he began to sweat, "U-uuuhm...Jet, what's going on here?" Jet looked around, twitching at the sound of a charmander's cry. The pokemon looked up, and called out in his own tongue at it, while Geo looked around warily.

The Charmander's reply was almost sing-song, and to Geo's own, might almost sound like a foreigner speaking its native language with near-perfect fluency. It was smooth, like the accent wasn't quite correct, even if the wrongness which emanated from each call was subtle. Nobody on the floor even stirred. They were the only ones awake on level two.

Geo really didn't like the sound of the Charmander's echoes, but he pushed the feeling off and walked up to one of the sages, trying to shake him awake. Jet came closer, illuminating the darkness. When he couldn't get a respond out of the sleeping sages, Geo got up and continued forwards, hoping to find the source of the echoing sound, with Jet just a step behind, giving him a light by which to see.

As the two traversed forward, the room seemed to twist and turn around them, the shadows moving beneath their feet while the objects and people of the room were obviously still idle. The Charmander's cry had been replaced a grand screech, and if Geo and Jet were to check, the ladders seemed to be an impossible distance away from them! The lights of the torches were blurred, and the shadows of the room began to congeal into one terrifying, towering mass above them, its eyes a menacing and fiery orange! What was this Pokemon, and how had such an innocent training trek become this?!
