"Weavile, quickly, get up," Rudy called to his pokemon. He was hoping, very minimally, desperately that the pokemon would find the strength to overcome its paralysis. The pokemon struggled, fighting for a chance to get up and dodge the incoming fire fang. Upon contact, more adrenaline rushed through the pokemon's limbs, the pokemon finding a bit less difficulty in standing up after the bite. "Weavile, counter the slam! Use metal claw," Rudy called out, his pokemon's valuable weapons glowing a faint silver as it prepared to counter the incoming slam. It was evident from the minimal delay in the time it took to prepare the strike that weavile was beginning to weaken.
(I wrote a ???, because you determine if the counter of metal claw strikes or not. Until that's known I can't write impact or dodge, because I need to know if the collision hits or is avoided somehow)

"Deino! Roll over to the left!" Alice called. However, her Pokemon wasn't listening, and if she was, she simply wasn't fast enough or practiced enough at this kind of fight to handle it well. Her sight was the problem, as was her aggression, and she took a metal claw straight to the head. It was only that the Pokemon reacted, skillfully rolling the impact out, even though the power had hurt. She got up, charging once more, not giving up on that slam.
"To the left, redirect yourself so you don't fall! Use those senses of yours!" Alice ordered in reminder, and while Deino seemed a bit unsteady - dizzy - she was trying. Deino was going in for another slam, and the ice from her hot mouth was nearly gone. If she got near Weavile, her fire fang was really, really going to burn, and Rudy's Pokemon opponent was a ferocious little beasty.

"Weavile, quickly! Get out of there!" Weavile heard it's trainer call out aloud to it to dodge, but like had happened a few times before, the adrenaline of the attack ran out. The pokemon was left standing, stunned until, at last, the slam that deino was attempting made a hard collision. As if hearing a small crunch, the pokemon flew back quite a bit, rolling a few times after it had collided with the ground anew. The pokemon was in desperate need of assistance this time, though it struggled to stand up. There was, yet again, a rush of adrenaline to help it stand, though the pokemon was still seeming to struggle against paralysis and fatigue. "Weavile, counter the heat with icy wind," the gym leader called out. All weavile could do was muster energy to the last drop, creating an icy wind and growing it as much as possible to counter the deino's fire fang with.

"Deino, you can take it! You're almost done!" Alice reassured loudly, her Deino following the struggling Pokemon to make a final collision. It aimed to take Weavile down, jam its burning fangs down on any limb it could grab - preferably the head, torso or shoulder over leg or arm, however - and finish this brutally. All Alice wanted was a faint result, however. Deino's role in the match would be over as soon as Weavile was down, which was probably for the best. Her Pokemon was practically on a rampage, the icy wind ruffling fur and stinging down through her shiny core. It wasn't a blizzard or ice beam, or even an aurora beam, but it would chip away and hurt. The move was practically a game changer if things went wrong.

Weavile continued to struggle with the icy wind, watching deino as it fast approached. The pokemon released the icy wind and lowered itself a bit to dodge the fire fang, though the sure impact of the slam from deino's body was enough to send the pokemon flying back again. Without much strength left and a paralysis taking effect, weavile had finally been taken down, hopefully taking deino down with it by icy wind. "That's enough weavile," Rudy spoke quietly to himself, withdrawing his beloved pokemon from the battle. He looked over to Alice, watching her and her pokemon to see if anything else would happen before he sent out his second fighter.

"Yeah! You did it!" Alice cheered. Deino looked worse for wear, but not fainted. She looked weak, perhaps bordering on the deep yellow or red of a virtual health bar, but she was too durable. It would've taken one or two stronger icy winds to have Deino down for the count. "Thanks, Deino! Back you go!"
The dragon made a noise of surprised contempt, head whirring round to find her trainer, but she had been swallowed back into her ball before she could escape. Deino had obviously wanted to go on. "Okay, Slowpoke! It's your go now!" In a burst of bubbles and a minty shine, the little Pokemon landed on the field, appearing as dopey as ever. Alice grinned. She was confident in her starter, and if they won this fight, the match was theirs. The trainer was sure that Rudy would use his Starmie, and Alice had a strategy for that, too.

Rudy stared at Alice a bit, watching her reaction to having won the one fight instead of the war. "You celebrate before the war is over," he told her aloud. "The tides are gonna change." He held his second pokeball in his hand, looking down to it as his hands tightened on it a bit. "I'm counting on you starmie," he thought to himself as he chugged the ball out, a brilliant white light bursting forth to reveal his second pokemon for the war.

Alice grinned sheepishly, "My bad." He was right, and she'd had her share of losses. In fact, several had come close to her death, and even some of her victories had carried an undercurrent of misfortune. However, this one she would claim wholly and brightly for herself and her Pokemon team.
"Slowpoke, start off with trick room, and then use toxic!" She cried. Her slow Pokemon attempted to use its best game changer, a blue aura steadily beginning to surround it. With Starmie's high speed swapped with his own dreadfully slow pace, Rudy's usual strategy would definitely be dashed-- and if they managed to inflict such deep poison at the start of the fight, that would definitely increase their odds.

(I'm just judging trick room as a chance to succeed or fail... Because even though it has no accuracy, a move can still fail)
Despite the hardest of attempts, it didn't seem as though Slowpoke's attempts to swap speed with the opponent would work. Rudy took this failure to his advantage, calling to his special star-shaped pokemon. "Starmie, use hydro pump," he called out. His pokemon began to spin, taking in the toxic that was tossed at it while a large beam of water began to shoot out towards the opponent. The pokemon was obviously at full strength, the stream of water hardly unstraightening from its projectory. Even worse, if slowpoke wouldn't be drenched, there was a sure change Rudy's challenger would be.

"Roll over!" Alice called desperately. Some of the hydro pump caught him, but he managed to evade most of it. She was relieved, worried that her Pokemon might be sent straight off the edge otherwise. This meant that she got blasted, though, and it was enough to push her off her feet. "Try trick room again, Slowpoke! And then use shadow ball!" It took a few seconds for her Pokemon to respond, still lying flat on the ground as a psychic aura surrounded him. At the very least, whether this move worked or failed, he'd have to get up to try and aim the shadow ball.

(Some bad RNG luck for you D: (I'd actually be interested in seeing a scene with trick room, if you know of one that would be cool to watch))
To the dismay of his opponent and his glory, Rudy watched as, a second time, the aura surrounding the pokemon failed to swap the speeds of each pokemon. He shook his head lightly. "Maybe today's just not your day," Rudy told Alice, pointing his finger out while his pokemon took an impact from the prior toxic. A light dent in the pokemon's strength, Rudy held his finger up strong as he gave out his command. "Confuse ray then water gun... Go!" The starmie began to fire out the rays towards his opponent, attempting to scramble the slowpoke's mind a bit and make it easier to attack... Other than the fact it's a slow pokemon. Should the confuse ray work, starmie would then fire out water as if a machine gun, though if not, the pokemon would stand in light disappointment.
(I hope my looking into Slowpoke not having the ability own tempo pays off D:)

((At least the RNG worked for me this time. xP And nah, I don't know of any, unfortunately!))
Alice sighed in relief as the confuse ray seemed to fail, the light fading out. Was Slowpoke so oblivious that he couldn't even be confused? "What a man you make, Slowpoke. Wow." She breathed, playfully sarcastic and definitely glad. The shadow ball charged in Slowpoke's maw went off towards Starmie, a counter to the water gun if it was tried, "Now, follow up with thunder!" She called. Despite being a water type, the little creature's fur began to crackle and then spark, before letting off a mighty blast of electricity which went up into the sky and then seemed to pour down towards Starmie and its general vicinity.

The starmie clearly hadn't attacked when the confuse ray had failed. Rudy kept an eye on his pokemon and Alice's, watching as much as possible to have the greatest scope on the battle. He couldn't tell his poor star-shaped pokemon to shy away from the shadowball before it had made contact, weakening his pokemon before the thunder was launched up. "Starmie, dodge," he called out, his pokemon barely wiggling its way around the incoming strikes. "Counter with hydro pump!" The little star began to twirl anew, beginning to fire water extremely pressured towards the slowpoke. It wasn't noticable this time, but the toxic from before made a light dent in the starmie's strength again.
(Hydro pump doesn't require cooldown does it? From what I'm seeing it doesn't force a cooldown.)

Alice panicked. Slowpoke couldn't keep dodging those, and she'd have to be creative. "Use confusion on the water, Slowpoke! Redirect it, but not at Starmie!" She called. The trainer gasped as the hydro pump struck, forcing her Pokemon backwards, until a blue light surrounded the water stream. The water curved around, the hydro pump going straight off the edge. Alice sighed in relief, but it was scary how dangerous these delays made her Pokemon. "Okay, Slowpoke. Use trick room again!" This time, it needed to work. Alice was depending on it.

(The RNG is unkind. I set it to do 1 to 100, with evens being a success and odds being a fail... And it just gave me a 35. D:)
Rudy and his pokemon both watched as the slowpoke's attempt to use trick room failed a third time. "It looks as though you've had a trilogy of failure with that move," Rude spoke out to Alice. "Perhaps you need a new battle plan!" He looked to his pokemon as another instance of toxic took its toll. He knew that slowpoke had to be defeated soon, or Alice had all the advantage in the fight. "Starmie, quick; attack with swift and hydro pump!" His pokemon acted a bit slower than prior; the toxic was really beginning to get the pokemon's strength as all poisons. The pokemon began to spin, slow at first, but quickly picking up pace. It wasn't much longer until a swirl of bright stars were launched towards the slowpoke, starmie quickly launching a large beam of water towards the pokemon as well.

Alice grit her teeth. Rudy was right. It was time to give up on trick room for the moment. "Use dig, Slowpoke!" She knew that swift was unavoidable, but that wasn't the reason why she was doing this. Slowly, her Pokemon began to bury into the ground, and by the time hydro pump had come, Slowpoke was so deeply ingrained that the hydro pump hit-- but it went at an angle which stopped him from being blasted from the high platform. He didn't look happy, though. It took Slowpokes eleven seconds for pain to set in, and the swift and lighter barrage of hydro pump hadn't been real nice.
"Now, go for shadow ball and thunder!" Alice ordered. Her Pokemon poked his head out from the small ditch, aiming his ghostly sphere at the Starmie. That seemed to be the end of it, Alice blinking and having to call again to hurry her charge up before the dual-type suddenly sent off a massive thunder attack. Her poor Pokemon did worry her sometimes. This battle could be down to Clefairy if they weren't careful.

Even if Rudy had told starmie to dodge the incoming shadowball, the spooky sphere was headed fast towards his pokemon. Not only that, but constantly running the pokemon attack after attack left very minimal room to even let the pokemon catch its breath. "Starmie, attempt to dodge," he called out regardless, the pokemon taking the hit and sliding back a bit on the ground. Getting up with as much haste as could be mustered, the pokemon looked at the incoming thunder. Ironically, the bolts of electricity seemed to all but miss the star-shaped pokemon, giving Rudy light amounts of hope. This didn't stop the impact of the toxic from before from setting in anew, starmie wavering a bit to stay up straight. "Starmie, hydro pump at the tunnel," Rudy called out, pointing his finger towards where the slowpoke had poked out its head. The pokemon took a few extra moments to gather enough strength, eventually hopping up into the air (if that's even possible xP) and launching what oculd possibly be its last and strongest hydro pump towards the small hole containing its opponent.

"Use your fire blast, Slowpoke!" Alice shouted. It might have been a nonsense move, but the trainer had a plan. With Starmie weaker and slowed down, they had a shot, and her Pokemon sent off a powerful fire attack. It collided with the hydro pump, turning some of it to steam before Starmie overwhelmed his advance. "Duck your head, use your strength and endure it!"
Slowpoke had no choice but to do just that, but at least he didn't go skidding off the edge. The poison affliction was hopefully turning the tables for them - this could be her badge now. Her little hippo didn't look to be in the best shape, but he was far better off than Starmie. "Thunder, again!" Alice ordered. Slowpoke seemed to think hard on it - or maybe daydream - before he finally acted. Better late than ever, but she was going to have to sort this problem out before she even considered taking on Mikan Gym's race in the future.

"Dodge," Rudy called out aloud moments before the thunder strick his pokemon. The thunder was too fast, even for Rudy. His starmie took the shock and collapsed pretty hard, the gym leader looking over to his pokemon. "Come on starmie! Get up," he called, seeming to lightly ignore his pokemon's condition. It didn't become concrete to him until the last of the toxic took its impact, leaving his pokemon useless on the battlefield. "Return," he spoke out, returning his second pokemon to its pokeball before looking over to Alice.

Alice hadn't realised she was holding her breath until she let said breath go, the Starmie returned to its ball. Slowpoke finally just slumped, although he hadn't exactly been the image of tension anyway. The trainer grinned, letting out a wild and ecstatic cheer as she raced the short distance to dive down and bring her Pokemon close. "You did it! You and Deino won! We won!" The young woman declared brightly, hauling up her heavy champion as she stood up. He weighed a ton! "That's our third badge! We're almost set!" Alice twirled and then looked over to Rudy, "Thank you so much for prioritising our match. Wow, that was actually really scary." Alice admitted. There had been some close calls. Not as close as with Luana, but things could have easily turned in a bad way.
